    What Is a Full-Day Private Tour of Tokyo's Historical Sites Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan from Europe, all visiting Japan for the first time. One of the guests is currently studying at a university in Europe. This time it was a 13-day trip around Japan, with three days spent in Tokyo. Afterward they planned to travel to Hakone, Kyoto, Hiroshima, and Osaka, then return to Tokyo before heading home. They arrived at Narita Airport on a direct flight the night before last, and took a pre-booked private car to their hotel. Yesterday they said they had strolled around the Roppongi area and Shibuya on foot. They said, "We would like to visit places that convey the history of Japan." It was a cloudy day, with occasional light rain during the tour. We met at a club. First, we headed to Asakusa. As always, it was crowded with many tourists. I explained "the history of Asakusa and Sensoji Temple" and "the history of Edo and Tokyo." After that, we set off from in front of the Kaminarimon Gate. I explained "what the five-story pagoda is for," "what Buddhism is," and "the difference between Buddhism and Shinto." We took commemorative photos in front of the Kaminarimon Gate and the five-story pagoda. We strolled slowly through the Nakamise shopping street. There were questions such as "How many Buddhists are there in Japan?", "Besides Buddhism, what other religions do people follow?", and "Are there Christians in Japan?" We moved to Ueno and strolled leisurely through the park. I explained "the history and overview of Ueno Park." After that, we entered the National Museum of Western Art (they said the whole group loves art, and always visit local art museums when traveling abroad). They remarked, "This is a splendid collection. Who assembled it?" and "The building is wonderful too." We moved to the Yanesen area and strolled through "Yanaka Ginza." There were many foreign tourists. We took a break along the way and bought matcha ice cream. They said, "We're glad we can feel the old Tokyo here. We love this kind of atmosphere." At Nezu Shrine, we passed through the torii gates, and I explained about "Inari shrines." From here, we moved to Shinjuku San-chome. I explained "the origins and history of Shinjuku" and "the difference between the east and west sides of the station." We walked around and explored Shinjuku Golden Gai, Kabukicho, the Godzilla Head, and Omoide Yokocho. They eagerly filmed the "3D cat display." They said, "We're a little hungry, so we'd like to eat ramen." Incidentally, it was everyone's first time trying ramen. There were also comments and questions such as, "We felt Tokyo is a clean and safe city," "Why are there no trash cans on the streets?", "We don't see any homeless people," and "The public restrooms are clean and pleasant." They said, "We aren't quite sure how to ride the subway, so we'd like you to see us back to the hotel," so I escorted them to Shin-Okachimachi Station and we parted ways.

    One more, I have a separate house near Asuka Village, Nara prefecture, and I stay there for a total of about 30 days every year and have been enjoying sightseeing personally in the vicinity.     What Is a Private Kyoto Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Kiyomizu-dera, Sanjusangendo, and Nijo Castle The guests were visitors from Oceania. It was their first time in Japan, but before coming to Kyoto they had visited Kanazawa and Takayama. I took them to Kiyomizu-dera, Sanjusangendo, and Nijo Castle. Since one of the guests had a long-standing interest in pottery and still enjoyed ceramics as a hobby, we walked along Chawanzaka, one of the approaches to Kiyomizu-dera, and stopped at a pottery shop there. We could only spend a short time at this shop, but it turned out to be the guest's favorite part of the whole tour. Another of the guests seemed to like Sanjusangendo best. The guests walked steadily and had no trouble at all with the walking tour. They found the high humidity difficult, but fortunately the sky was cloudy during the tour, which helped.

    What's a Full-Day Private Tour of Tokyo Like for First-Time Visitors? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan for the first time from North America. One of the guests had ancestral roots traced back to a grandparent who had emigrated from Wakayama. This was a two-week trip through Japan, with three days in Tokyo, followed by Hakone, Kyoto, Nara, and Osaka before returning home. The night before, the guests arrived at Haneda Airport via a connecting flight and took a pre-booked private car to their hotel. However, due to heavy rain, the trip reportedly took three hours. In the evening, they had a light dinner at the hotel. Their request was: "We want to learn how to use the trains and subways, so as far as time allows, we'd like to visit the main spots around the city." The tour took place under cloudy skies, with occasional light rain. We met at the hotel. First, they asked for help with "reserving Shinkansen tickets" and "purchasing Suica cards," so we went to the travel concierge at Ueno Station. After completing the procedures, we headed first to Asakusa. As always, it was crowded with many tourists. I explained "the history of Asakusa and Sensoji Temple." From there, we started at the front of Kaminarimon Gate. I explained "what the five-story pagoda is for," "what Buddhism is," and "the differences between Buddhism and Shinto." We moved to Harajuku, starting with Meiji Shrine. I explained "about Shinto," "about torii gates," "about Emperor Meiji," "why sake barrels are displayed," and "why wine barrels are displayed." There were questions such as "How do Buddhism and Shinto differ?" and "When did Shinto originate?" We took a rest for a while at the cafe terrace at Meiji Shrine. After that, we strolled along Takeshita Street and then went to Shibuya. First, we took photos looking down at Scramble Square from the platform of the Keio Inokashira Line, then actually crossed the intersection. There were questions such as "Why do so many people gather here?" and "Are there more locals or more tourists?" We also took photos in front of the Hachiko statue. One of the guests mentioned, "We keep an Akita dog at home." There were comments and questions such as "Japanese people are all quiet and polite," "We don't see any homeless people," and "Why are there no trash cans on the streets?" They said, "We're getting tired, so we'd like to be taken to Shinagawa Station," so I escorted them to Shinagawa Station, and we parted ways there.

    What's a 4-Hour Private Walking Tour of Kanazawa Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Europe. They had visited the Nomura Family samurai residence in the Nagamachi district the previous evening, so on this 4-hour tour we were able to explore the Higashi Chaya District, Kenrokuen Garden, and Kanazawa Castle at a relatively relaxed pace. (For tours arranged through a travel agency, the local travel company usually requests covering the Higashi Chaya District, Kanazawa Castle, Kenrokuen Garden, and the Nagamachi district all within 4 hours…) During the three-day holiday period in September, the annual Kanazawa Jazz Street event is well known, with jazz performances at various street corners, so I guided the guests to enjoy it before ending the tour. They had a wonderful time.

    What's a Full-Day Private Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Covering the Imperial Palace and Asakusa The guests were a group visiting from North America. They had requested in advance that they wanted to visit the Imperial Palace, but left everything else up to me, so I guided them along a classic route. During the tour, they asked a wide variety of questions about Japanese culture, customs, religion, and the economic situation, and at the end they commented that it had been very enjoyable and educational. Since they wanted to have ramen for lunch, I took them to a ramen restaurant in Asakusa, which they were delighted with. Although the temperature has dropped a little, the humidity is still high, so it seems that tours will continue for a while with concerns about heatstroke.

    What's a Full-Day Private Tour of Central Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on the East Gardens, Meiji Shrine, and Shibuya Crossing I received a last-minute message that the guests had changed their accommodation, so we met at the Hotel instead. Since it is a hotel I visit frequently, this actually worked out conveniently. The guests purchased PASMO cards at Tochomae Station, and we used both JR and subway lines to get around. The guests were visitors from North America, both cheerful, and the tour proceeded in an enjoyable atmosphere throughout, with lively conversation. We first visited the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, which is a little far from the hotel, and afterward went to Meiji Shrine and the Shibuya Scramble Crossing. The guests had a strong interest in Japanese history and plants, and the East Gardens in particular were very well received. Progress to Meiji Shrine was smooth, but since lunch and shopping there took more time than expected, we were nearly at the end time by the time the walk was finished. Even so, sensing how much they wanted to also see the Shibuya Scramble Crossing, I extended the tour a little. At the end, I explained how to return to Tochomae Station, saw them back to the Hotel, and we parted ways.

    I was born in Tokyo and was raised in the suburbs of Tokyo called Tama area. When I was in university, I majored in western dramas, so I am good at playing like an actor.
    I like reading, listening to the music, and walking. I belong to several walking clubs, and sometimes I guide the members around Tokyo.
    One of my strengths as a guide is that I know well about kombu, Japanese kelps. In December every year, I work at a traditional kombu shop in Tsukiji Fish Market. At that shop, I learned a lot of things related to kombu or other ingredients for washoku. I can explain the different characteristics of them to you.

    Can You Do a Full-Day Private Tour of Tokyo in the Rain? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, the Imperial Palace, Meiji Shrine, and Shibuya The guests were visitors from North America, both visiting Japan for the first time. Some time ago, the guests had relocated to North America from Europe. They had arrived at Haneda Airport a couple of days earlier and taken a taxi to their Hotel. The previous day, they had strolled around the area near their Hotel. The purpose of this visit was to join a cruise ship trip around Japan departing from Yokohama Port from the next day, lasting a couple of weeks. They planned to fly home at the end from Seoul, in Asia. The guests mentioned that they both love gardening. There was a request that walking be done at a slow pace. The tour took place in poor weather, with occasional heavy downpours. We first went to Asakusa. Despite the rain, there were large crowds. In particular, there were many foreign tour groups and school excursion students. Holding umbrellas, we set off from in front of Kaminarimon Gate. I explained the history of Sensoji Temple and the transition from Edo to Tokyo, the purpose of the five-story pagoda, what Buddhism is, and the difference between Buddhism and Shinto. We took commemorative photos in front of Kaminarimon Gate and the five-story pagoda. The guests also purchased a "traffic safety" charm. There were questions such as "What are the main religions in Japan?", "How many Buddhists are there in Japan?", and "Besides Buddhism, what other religions do people believe in?" There was also a question about how often Japanese people visit temples. We moved to the Imperial Palace. Here the rain had stopped, and we strolled without umbrellas. First, we went to the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace. There was a question about the stone walls and how they were built. In the Ninomaru Garden, the guests remarked that they had also created a small "Japanese garden" in their own yard. I explained the history from the Edo period to the Meiji era, the Meiji Restoration, why Edo Castle became the Imperial Palace, and why the capital moved from Kyoto to Tokyo. There were questions such as "Does the current Emperor of Japan hold any political authority?" We moved to Koishikawa Korakuen Garden. Here again, we strolled in the rain. The garden was not very crowded, with only a few people. We walked once around the garden. The guests said that the Japanese gardens seen in Japan really are wonderful. In particular, they said the pine trees were magnificent and that they would love to take one home. We moved to Harajuku and went to Meiji Shrine. From the parking area, we first went in front of the sake barrels. Here the rain had stopped, and we strolled without umbrellas. I explained about Shinto, the difference between Shinto and Buddhism, the torii gate, Emperor Meiji, why the sake barrels are displayed, and why the wine barrels are displayed. There were also questions such as "What kind of teaching is Buddhism?" and "How does Buddhism differ from Shinto?" We took a short break at the cafe terrace at Meiji Shrine. After that, we also strolled along Takeshita Street. We moved to Shibuya. First, from the entrance to the Keio Inokashira Line platform, we looked down at Scramble Square and took photos, then actually crossed the intersection. Since the guests wanted to take a short rest, we stopped for a break at a coffee shop. We also took photos in front of the Hachiko statue. There were comments and questions such as "It's surprising that there is no litter on the streets. Doesn't anyone throw trash in the streets?", "Are there no homeless people?", and "Are there no pickpockets or robbers?" Finally, I saw them off at the entrance of their Hotel, and we parted ways.

    In the past, I was stationed in Canada, the United States, and Mexico as an expatriate of a Japanese bank for over 11 years.
    Since I have been mainly involved in the financing business in the United States for a long time, I think I am able to provide interpretation and translation services related to business and finance.
    I am a certified CPA in the United States.
    In addition, for three years from April 2016, I will be engaged in Japanese-English translation work (part-time), and I can also handle translation work.
    Although I don’t have a qualification in Spanish, but I think I can handle day to day conversation in Spanish without any problems.
    My hobby is trekking and from time to time, take a walk around mountains near Tokyo like Mt. Takao, Tanzawa, etc. I think it is possible to provide tourist information here as well.
    Since April 2015, I have been working as a Tokyo Metropolitan Tourism Volunteer and Tokyo Metropolitan Disaster Prevention Volunteer.
    One more, I have a separate house near Asuka Village, Nara prefecture, and I stay there for a total of about 30 days every year and have been enjoying sightseeing personally in the vicinity. Therefore, I think in the Kansai region, especially in Nara, Asuka, Yoshino, Koyasan, Kumano Kodo, etc., where I think I will be able to tour guide with confidence.

Today the ship arrived at Osaka Port, and we met at Kyoto Station after they traveled by Shinkansen. They arrived at Kyoto Station a little earlier than scheduled, so we started the tour at 12:30. We visited Fushimi Inari Taisha, Sanjusangendo, Chion-in, Maruyama Park, and Gion. They had already visited shrines and temples in Tokyo, but they were deeply impressed by how completely different the scale of Kyoto's shrines and temples was. They took many photos. Although it was hot and humid during the day, they explored energetically until the end while taking breaks along the way.

    What Can You See on a 6-Hour Private Kyoto Walking Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. When we met, they had no specific requests for destinations and asked me to plan the itinerary as I saw fit. Since they had not eaten lunch, I chose an easy-to-access route starting at Kiyomizu-dera, then Nishiki Market, and finally Arashiyama. This route turned out to be a great success. Both of them loved taking photos and videos, striking model-like poses and enjoying taking a considerable number of pictures, and they were captivated by the beautiful scenery of Kiyomizu-dera and Arashiyama. At Nishiki Market, they enjoyed sushi, which they loved, and stocked up on matcha, another favorite. Fortunately, I believe the itinerary matched their preferences well. Since we had been walking for 6 hours straight, they seemed tired, so I saw them off at their Hotel and said goodbye.

    What Is a Private Himeji Tour Like from Kyoto? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. One of the guests had family with experience living in Japan and appeared to be very fond of Japanese culture, understanding simple conversation and hiragana. On this day, the guide made a significant mistake (a misunderstanding) that caused inconvenience to the guests (see special note below). Both guests listened to the guide's explanations with great interest. One of the guests seemed to enjoy photography and took many photos both at each spot and elsewhere. At Nadagiku Sake Brewery, they toured enthusiastically, experienced a tasting, and purchased many souvenirs. After visiting each spot, the guests mentioned they were hungry and wanted to eat "okonomiyaki" before returning to Kyoto, so I guided them to a restaurant in the basement of Himeji Station, where we parted ways with about 30 minutes remaining. Special note) On this day, the guide had mistaken the 6-hour tour for a 4-hour tour and realized this on the morning of the tour. Immediately after meeting, I apologized for the error and explained that I would revise the itinerary and proceed accordingly. The guests said they would leave everything entirely to the guide, and we proceeded with the itinerary described above. After the tour, I apologized deeply once more, and I received very warm words: that they were satisfied with the good itinerary I had guided them through, and that there was no need to worry. The itinerary presented to the guests beforehand had also been listed as 4 hours, and it seems the guests may have overlooked (or misunderstood?) this as well, but I deeply reflect that this was a basic mistake I should have noticed at the latest when sending the confirmation email the day before, and I will take great care to avoid this in the future.

    real genuine Kobe Beef here. Kobe is also called “Home of Japanese Sake” with lots of Sake breweries, and I recommend you would visit those breweries
    if you have any interest in Japanese Sake as well as one aspect of Japanese cultures. Of course, you can have tastings of various kinds of Sake there.

    Whenever during the tour, I always try to make it safe, pleasant and comfortable for all of the guests, which is my first priority. I am very much confident
    that you can have a pleasant and unforgettable experience in Japan. Just tell me about your preference; what you would like to like to see, have, know
    and eat and so on. Particularly, I hold the license for cooking qualified by the government here and maybe, I can reply you for questions related to the
    foods here. In this respect, I strongly recommend you would try not only famous Japanese cuisine such as Sushi, Tempura or Suki-yaki but some
    Japanese traditional local foods, like Tako-yaki, Okonomi-yaki and Kushkatsu. They are sometimes called the soul foods of Japan. Here is the brief
    explanation for these three foods.

    1) Tako-yaki
    Tako-yaki is a snack filled with pieces of octopus in a batter of flour , egg and soup stock. You can call them octopus dumplings or balls. “Tako” means
    octopus and “yaki” means grilled or broiled.
    2) Okonomi-yaki
    This word Okonomi-yaki means “cook just as you like” and you can use whatever you like as toppings, such as beef, pork, shrimp, squid and octopus.
    Okonomi-yaki is round shape and just like pancakes or pizza in shape mainly made from egg, flour and water.
    3) Kushi-katsu
    Kushi-katsu is skewered cutlet or deep-fried foods on a stick. “Kushi” means skewer and “katsu” means cutlet. Various kinds of foods are used for
    ingredients such as beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, squid, octopus and lots of kinds of vegetables.

    Actually, the western Japan including Osaka, Kobe and Himeji is called as “Home of such local soul foods”. You should give it a try and I am sure
    that you like them very much.

    I sincerely hope that I can be your tour guide this time in Kobe, Osaka and Himeji. If my guests said to me after the tour, “I have had a very good
