Title: What's a Private Nara Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. The tour was scheduled to start at 11:00, but I received a message via messaging app that they had caught an earlier train, so I hurried to Nara Station to meet them. Since they specifically wished to visit Shinyakushiji Temple, we first took a taxi there. Then we walked pleasantly along the Negi-michi path through the forest to Kasuga Taisha Shrine. They were strong walkers and truly enjoyed the walk. They listened with great interest as I explained fundamental topics, such as how present-day Shinto and shrines differ from those before the Meiji era, how they differ from those before the Ritsuryo system, and how Japanese Buddhism today differs from the Buddhism of the historical Buddha. Even though we started 40 minutes earlier than planned, I forgot about that and ended at the originally scheduled time. In a sense it was a loss, but since it was such an enjoyable day, I suppose it was fine — haha.

Hello! Thank you for choosing Nara! I bet you’ll love Nara. I specialize in Nara because Nara is the unique place where in one day you can cover the history and religions of Japan from the ancient times to the post war era while enjoying rambling in the UNESCO World Heritage park, having communication with lovely deer, surrounded with the beautiful nature.
I grew up in Nara, went university in Kyoto, enjoyed teaching at high schools and a university in Osaka. The three former capitals of Japan are home to me.
After retiring from teaching I began guiding so that I can meet various people from various corners of the world with a variety of cultures and backgrounds. Each time I guide, I find it hugely rewarding because I learn a lot from my guests sharing the history, culture and all that I know about Nara, Kyoto and Osaka.
I used to be a marathon runner, mountain climber and skier though I am not much of them anymore.
What I especially recommend is to stay in Nara a couple of days and enjoy communicating with friendly deer while visiting UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Nara in early morning, temples and shrines at night are well worth experiencing.

What Is a Private Car Tour of Osaka Castle and Doguyasuji Like? A Licensed Guide's Report [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guide led a private car tour in Osaka for a group visiting from Oceania. The tour proceeded at a slow pace with rest breaks, as some of the guests needed to take things easy. At Osaka Castle and Doguyasuji, some of the guests waited in the private car or at rest areas near the entrances. Although this was a tour using a private car, I felt the day was quite demanding for some of the guests. The guests were also very attentive to one another, and it seemed they did not have much room to focus on the guide's explanations. As the group was tired, we stopped for a light meal at the Umeda Sky Building, which had not been part of the original plan. In the end, since some of the guests were tired, we finished about 30 minutes ahead of schedule. Note: Recently I have been guiding many guests who are elderly or who have difficulty walking, and I often feel that guests tend to underestimate walking tours. It is also a fact that even on tours using a private car, there are still many situations at each spot where walking is necessary.

    Dear my guests,

This is (Mr.) Yama, greeting from Kobe, Japan.
I would like to warmly welcome you to Japan this time. I am from the city of Kobe, which is of course, well-known for very tasty Kobe Beef . You can taste
real genuine Kobe Beef here. Kobe is also called “Home of Japanese Sake” with lots of Sake breweries, and I recommend you would visit those breweries
if you have any interest in Japanese Sake as well as one aspect of Japanese cultures. Of course, you can have tastings of various kinds of Sake there.

Whenever during the tour, I always try to make it safe, pleasant and comfortable for all of the guests, which is my first priority. I am very much confident
that you can have a pleasant and unforgettable experience in Japan. Just tell me about your preference; what you would like to like to see, have, know
and eat and so on. Particularly, I hold the license for cooking qualified by the government here and maybe, I can reply you for questions related to the
foods here. In this respect, I strongly recommend you would try not only famous Japanese cuisine such as Sushi, Tempura or Suki-yaki but some
Japanese traditional local foods, like Tako-yaki, Okonomi-yaki and Kushkatsu. They are sometimes called the soul foods of Japan. Here is the brief
    explanation for these three foods.

    1) Tako-yaki
Tako-yaki is a snack filled with pieces of octopus in a batter of flour , egg and soup stock. You can call them octopus dumplings or balls. “Tako” means
octopus and “yaki” means grilled or broiled.
    2) Okonomi-yaki
This word Okonomi-yaki means “cook just as you like” and you can use whatever you like as toppings, such as beef, pork, shrimp, squid and octopus.
Okonomi-yaki is round shape and just like pancakes or pizza in shape mainly made from egg, flour and water.
    3) Kushi-katsu
Kushi-katsu is skewered cutlet or deep-fried foods on a stick. “Kushi” means skewer and “katsu” means cutlet. Various kinds of foods are used for
ingredients such as beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, squid, octopus and lots of kinds of vegetables.

Actually, the western Japan including Osaka, Kobe and Himeji is called as “Home of such local soul foods”. You should give it a try and I am sure
that you like them very much.

I sincerely hope that I can be your tour guide this time in Kobe, Osaka and Himeji. If my guests said to me after the tour, “I have had a very good
and pleasant time with you today. I hope I can come here again and name you as our guide”, which is my great pleasure. Moreover, I would be
great honored if they say “I like Japan now thanks to you”.

Looking forward to meeting you soon here.
    Doomo Arigato Gozaimasu!

Title: What's a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, Ueno Park, and the Imperial Palace East Gardens Upon hearing that the guests planned to visit the Imperial Palace East Gardens on Monday, and knowing that the gardens are closed on Mondays, I quickly adjusted the itinerary and replaced the Meiji Shrine visit with the Imperial Palace East Gardens. We proceeded through Asakusa and Ueno Park, and when I asked about their meal plans, they expressed a preference for street stalls or snacks, so I showed them the street stalls in Ueno Park and we bought some snacks at a convenience store, which they enjoyed in Ueno Park. At the Imperial Palace East Gardens, since it was late in the day, we were unable to see the model of the castle keep (it closes at 15:30 in October). As we had a little time to spare, we stopped by Nihonbashi, which they had mentioned as a candidate destination, and then I saw them off at their hotel to end the tour.

On the day of the tour, they had arrived in Kanazawa and had lunch at Omicho Market before our meeting, so the tour started after I waited about 15 minutes for the guests at the Hotel. At first the tour proceeded with translation being provided within the group, but as everyone grew more comfortable, the energy really came out, with running around on the lawns of Kanazawa Castle Park and in Kenrokuen Garden. It became a lively tour, enjoying treats such as fruit daifuku mochi and ice cream along the way.

What Does a Private Full-Day Tokyo Tour Cover? A Licensed Guide's Report on Tsukiji, Hamarikyu, Asakusa, and Meiji Shrine The weather was neither too hot nor rainy, so we had good conditions for the tour. At Tsukiji Market I gave a full walkthrough, but there was no particular shopping, and we headed to Hamarikyu. At Hamarikyu, the guest was delighted to get a photo capturing both the pond and a modern high-rise building together. We returned to Shimbashi and I guided them around Asakusa. There were many tourists. At the next stop, Meiji Shrine, the guest was surprised at how different the atmosphere was compared to Asakusa. Since the guest was not in the best physical condition, we skipped the planned Takeshita Street, saw them off at the hotel, and ended the tour. A tip was received.

Title: What Is a Private Day Tour Around Fukuoka Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a friendly group visiting from Europe, and I was very grateful that they suggested using a taxi. They mentioned wanting to eat ramen, but since a few people were waiting in line, we instead had a chirashizushi lunch at a less crowded sushi restaurant next door. I did notice that some of it was left uneaten. They wanted to buy chopsticks and souvenirs made in Japan rather than in China, so they purchased a large number of chopsticks, Arita ware chopstick rests, and Hakata-ori textiles. They seemed moved not only by the reclining Buddha statue, the yamakasa float, and the walk through the interior of the Buddha statue, but also by the beauty of things we tend to overlook — the still turtles, the carp, and the mountains of Sasaguri (especially the bamboo).

What's a Private Day Trip from Kobe Port to Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Cruise Excursion Report Today's guests were a group visiting from Europe. With their cruise ship arriving at 8:30 in the morning and departing at 5:30 in the afternoon, they requested a 9-hour tour. Other guests from the same cruise ship reportedly went to nearby sightseeing spots such as Kobe, Osaka, and Himeji, but the group very much wanted to visit Kyoto, so they applied for a guide through [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/). We traveled to Kyoto by public transportation, and the guests covered all the taxi fares within Kyoto city. Hello. My name is Mari.
I am a certified local tour guide in Hiroshima.

I was born and grew up in Hiroshima until I entered in a university in Tokyo.
After 6 years in Tokyo, I came back to Hiroshima because I really love my hometown and wanted to spend the rest of my life here.

Hiroshima is very comfortable city to live in and rich in nature.
I am so happy that I have been able to raise my kids here.

Hiroshima is absolutely full of beautiful and historically important places and also the great food.
I am so excited to introduce the wonderful experiences here in Hiroshima and hope you will come to love this place, too.
    Look forward to meeting you.

Title: What Is a Private Nikko Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Toshogu and Local Dining Some of the guests were very curious and quite knowledgeable about Japanese culture, so they listened attentively to more in-depth explanations. At Toshogu Shrine, the highlight of the day, they seemed amazed by the beauty of the decorative details and studied them closely, so we ended up spending nearly twice the usual amount of time there. For lunch, I had suggested a slightly upscale Japanese-style restaurant, and they wanted to go there, so I made a reservation on short notice. In a calm restaurant blending Japanese and Western styles, they enjoyed delicious food and pleasant conversation. They seemed to like Nikko very much, and although the tour was originally planned to end at JR Nikko Station, we changed the plan so that they could spend the remaining time exploring on their own from there. I later received an email from the guests saying they had a wonderful day. I believe they were very satisfied throughout the entire day.

I am a licensed guide based in the Nikko area of Tochigi Prefecture, with a passion for sharing the depth and beauty of this remarkable region.
In particular, I take great pride in introducing the magnificent World Heritage area, home to Toshogu Shrine, Futarasan Shrine, Rinnoji Temple, and the iconic Shinkyo Bridge. The rich history, spiritual atmosphere, and masterful craftsmanship found there are truly inspiring.
But Nikko has much more to offer beyond the World Heritage zone. The region is uniquely spread across three different elevation zones: the central town area, the Lake Chuzenji area at higher altitude, and the remote Yumoto Onsen area in the mountains. Each of these areas offers a different charm—from historic sites and sacred spaces to scenic lakes, waterfalls, and hot springs.
However, due to the area’s wide geography, limited public transit options, and seasonal congestion, even navigating efficiently within a single area can be challenging without local knowledge.
That’s why local expertise is essential. With in-depth knowledge of Nikko’s layout, transportation network, and crowd patterns, I help my guests make the most of their time, while focusing on the area that suits their interests best.
I don’t just recite what’s written in guidebooks—I offer deeper insights rooted in Japanese history, religion, and culture. From the legacy of Tokugawa Ieyasu to the spiritual symbolism behind shrine architecture, I aim to provide meaningful and memorable experiences.
If you’re looking to discover the real Nikko, from its iconic landmarks to hidden gems, I’d be honored to guide you.

Title: What's a Private Kyoto Day Tour with Kids Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. During our correspondence beforehand, the guests asked whether a child seat could be provided, as they had heard that child seats are required by law in Japan for children under six. After checking with the taxi company in charge, I learned that this requirement applies only to private vehicles and not to taxis, and I relayed this information back to the guests. Today we visited the four locations the guests had requested. Every place had more tourists compared to September. Since one of the guests loved trains, I guided the group to the Randen station in Arashiyama. They were delighted by the charming single-car train and took many photos.

Hello! I’m Emi (meaning “smile” or “laugh” in Japanese) , born, raised, and living in Osaka for more than half a century. I’ve been working as a government-licensed tour guide since 2018 after early retirement from a company. My favorite things are hiking, cooking, eating, laughing, learning different cultures, jazz, playing the chromatic harmonica, etc.
I’ll provide you with a few suggested itineraries first, but of course I’ll be happy to provide you with a flexible itinerary according to your preferences and requests and to help you enjoy your stay in Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, Kobe, etc. I can also offer a tour visiting not only popular destinations but also hidden or less-crowded places.
I’m looking forward to meeting and guiding you!!
