What Is a Private Nagoya Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Nagoya Castle and Tokugawaen The guests were visitors from North America. We used elevators as much as possible throughout the tour to accommodate their needs. During the itinerary, the only stairs used were the stairs leading up from the subway Nagoya Castle Station and one location within Tokugawaen; for all other places involving ascents and descents, we used elevators. Among the sites we visited, the guests particularly liked Tokugawaen and greatly enjoyed feeding the carp in the pond. They were also very pleased with the varied combination of the itinerary, which included Nagoya Castle, Tokugawaen (a Japanese garden), and the Oasis 21 area and the Mirai Tower area in the center of the city.

What Is a 6-Hour Private Tokyo Tour of Japanese Gardens and Tsukiji Market Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guest's initial request was to visit Tsukiji Market plus three gardens — Hamarikyu, Rikugien, and Koishikawa Korakuen — within a 6-hour tour. Because the guest was elderly, we had agreed in advance to decide the day's itinerary within a feasible range, taking into account the weather and the guest's condition on the day. When we met, the guest was still active and prominent. In earlier years the guest had played American football. The guest had extensive experience visiting Japan and mentioned having an office not far from a hotel. However, the guest was always busy with work, and this time had added an extra day after finishing business to devote to this tour. The purpose was to visit several Japanese gardens as a reference for creating a garden at the guest's home in North America. Originally from North America, the guest now lives at homes in North America depending on the season. The garden at one home was already complete, and the guest had a specific wish to reference the layout of Japanese gardens when creating the garden at another home. After enjoying a breakfast of salmon and tuna rice bowls at Tsukiji Market, we first visited Hamarikyu Gardens, where the guest enthusiastically observed the three-hundred-year-old pine and other trees and flowers. The guest had never been here before and was delighted, but for the personal garden plan wished to see a somewhat smaller-sized garden. Since both of the originally planned gardens were large and required time to reach, I suggested nearby, somewhat smaller options — Kyu Shiba Rikyu Gardens and the garden at Happoen, which displays wonderful bonsai — and the guest very much wanted to visit them. In the end, the guest was very pleased with both gardens. At Kyu Shiba Rikyu Gardens, the guest was moved by the rock arrangements and took many photos. The guest also commented on the beauty of the recreation of the Xihu causeway. Furthermore, when I mentioned the surrounding high-rise buildings that did not exist in the Edo period, the guest preferred a Japanese garden with modern high-rises as borrowed scenery. We accessed Happoen by taxi, and the facility, which had just reopened after renovation on October 1, was a first experience even for me as a guide. It had changed greatly. After a light lunch, we strolled through the garden. The carp in the pond were overwhelmingly large nishikigoi. We strolled while carefully observing the strolling-style garden, which uses the elevation of the land to enjoy waterfalls and ponds. It was also a great surprise to see two groups of Western guests taking commemorative photos in kimono. We could see that a wedding reception was being held inside the Kochuan building, and the guest was surprised, remarking, "So they hold these even on weekdays." The guest also admired the splendid bonsai and was very satisfied, saying, "Thank you for recommending this." The guest seemed full of ideas about the garden layout and how well Japanese trees might grow in the Florida-like climate.

What's a 4-Hour Private Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Sanjusangendo, Kiyomizu-dera, and Gion The guests were visitors from Europe. It was their first time in Japan and in Kyoto. On a 4-hour short tour, I took them to Sanjusangendo, Kiyomizu-dera, and Kenninji Temple. After visiting Kenninji, I guided them to Gion in the same district (Hanamikoji Street and Tatsumi Bridge), where we parted ways. The weather was ideal for sightseeing, though it was warm enough to break a light sweat. The guests seemed to enjoy Sanjusangendo and Kenninji in particular. Kenninji especially had few visitors, and I think it is a recommended spot. However, it is a shame that one cannot sit on the veranda and take time to explain things there. Kiyomizu-dera was very crowded with students on school excursions, so it did not seem to leave a very good impression.

Title: What Is a Private Nagasaki Kunchi Festival Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests wanted to focus mainly on the Nagasaki Kunchi festival, so we visited the main spots of Dejima while I checked the festival navigation app to track where the performances were being held. We had planned to see two performances at the city hall, but on the way there we came across a performance touring the neighborhood, so I let the guests experience the atmosphere of the Nagasaki Kunchi festival right there. Perhaps due to the heat and humidity, which was hard to believe was October, the guests seemed worn out and returned to their hotel on their own, and we parted ways around 12:00.

Hello, I’m Rikako, but please call me Coco. It would be my absolute pleasure to show you around my hometown of Nagasaki. Having performed in the Nagasaki Kunchi Festival in my childhood, I developed a deep interest in history and cultural exchange. This motivated me to become a National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter during my university years. Since then, I have gained valuable experience—from assisting ambassadors at the Nagasaki Peace Memorial Ceremony to handling a wide variety of tours, including private and coach tours, site inspections, international conference support, and VIP hospitality.
Explaining about Nagasaki’s history and culture is the most important to me. It is not only about this. I would love to provide genuine care so that your time in Nagasaki remains in your heart forever.
I’m truly looking forward to guiding you in Nagasaki 🙂

Can You Do a Private Day Trip from Tokyo to Hakone with Onsen? A Licensed Guide's Report The guest came to Japan from North America. Since they wanted to enjoy nature outside the city, we chose Hakone, and because they hoped to experience an onsen, I arranged a plan that included the open-air bath "Mori no Yu" at Kowakuen in Hakone. There was a chance of rain, so I prepared umbrellas and raincoats, but they turned out to be unnecessary. After thoroughly enjoying the Hakone Open-Air Museum, the guest enjoyed the open-air bath at Kowakuen. At Owakudani, Mount Fuji was visible, and the guest was impressed by the active volcanic activity. Because a schedule change meant they wanted to return to Tokyo by around 18:00, we suddenly had to check bus and Shinkansen times, and it was no longer possible to guide at a relaxed pace. We skipped the visit to Hakone Shrine and adjusted the plan so we could return to Tokyo one hour earlier. Fortunately, we found a bus going directly to Hakone-Yumoto, so the timing worked out well. Both the ropeway and the sightseeing cruise had increased in price by 500 yen each starting in October. At Owakudani, we purchased black eggs for 500 yen, and I also gave the guest a Mount Fuji glass I had brought along. For the bus from Hakone Port to Hakone-Yumoto, a receipt was not needed before, so I did not obtain a receipt. The bus was crowded, and I guided under a very tight schedule where taking too long to board or alight could mean missing the train, all in line with the guest's request. Since you cannot return to Hakone-Yumoto without taking the bus, I believe a receipt is unnecessary. I hope you understand the circumstances, as it was not possible to spend extra time boarding and alighting when the buses were crowded with tourists.

What Is a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Gotokuji, Shibuya Crossing, and Takanawa Gateway The guests were a group visiting from North America. They were touring Japan by cruise ship, but the voyage from Hakodate to Tokyo was delayed due to the effects of a typhoon. As a result, the group traveled by Shinkansen from Hakodate to Tokyo in October, and the Tokyo sightseeing took place the following day in October. Some of the guests had been to Japan before, while for others it was their first visit. The beckoning cats (maneki-neko) at Gotokuji Temple, the Shibuya Scramble Crossing, and the view from the 28th floor of Newoman at Takanawa Gateway were especially well received. The timing at the 28th floor of Newoman coincided beautifully with a lovely sunset (photo). The guests commented that they had a wonderful time.

They had arrived in Japan the day before and were spending several days in Tokyo as part of a longer stay in Japan. The meeting point was initially undecided, but while discussing the itinerary it was confirmed to be the Hotel in the Yotsuya area. Since this was a 4-hour tour, we skipped lunch and I guided them through Ueno Park, Yanaka, and Asakusa. One of the guests was posting travel photos and videos to a social media account and was actively taking photos and videos at each spot. Another guest enjoyed embroidery and textiles as a hobby, and browsed shops selling such items intently in Yanaka and Asakusa. Hiroshima in One Day: Ujina Port

    Tour Itinerary

    • 8:00 Ujina Port → Take a taxi to Hiroshima Castle → 8:30 to 11:00 stroll through Hiroshima Castle Keep + Shukkeien Garden → 11:00 to 12:30 Peace Memorial Park (Atomic Bomb Dome, Sadako Sasaki Statue, and Museum) → 12:30 lunch at Okonomimura (two people return to the ferry) → 13:30 to Miyajima via the World Heritage Sea Route → Board the 15:00 ferry to Ujina Port and arrive at 15:22, shop at the terminal, and finish at 16:02

What Can You See on a Private Hiroshima and Miyajima Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report On this occasion, I guided a group visiting from North America. At the request of one of the guests, we visited Hiroshima Castle and Shukkeien Garden, where the group was deeply impressed by the stonework and the structure of the castle keep, as well as the pine trees at Shukkeien Garden in connection with an interest in bonsai. We were fortunate to be joined by a volunteer guide at Shukkeien Garden, which allowed me to provide an even more in-depth experience. As some of the guests appeared tired from a long journey, after having lunch at Okonomi-mura they decided to head back to the ferry, so I arranged a taxi from Hondori to Ujina Port, where we parted ways. I then continued on to Miyajima with the remaining guests. Since the morning walk had run long, we were a little pressed for time, and because the cruise ship boarding time was fixed at 16:30, we could not stay very long. Even so, we were able to do some essential sightseeing, taking photos of the Great Torii Gate and purchasing a beautiful chopstick set as a souvenir.

What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Arashiyama, Kinkaku-ji, and Fushimi Inari The guests came from North America and traveled from Tokyo to Kyoto. Originally they had planned to explore Kyoto today and return to Tokyo the same day, but the cruise ship departing from Tokyo for Nagasaki tomorrow suddenly canceled its Nagasaki route due to Typhoon No. 22, so they decided to stay in Kyoto until tomorrow evening and asked me to come to their hotel on short notice. Tomorrow the ship will depart Tokyo bound for Singapore and tour Southeast Asia again, which sounds enviable. Rather than detailed explanations of history, politics, religion, and folklore, the guests were the type who wanted to take in beautiful, distinctly Japanese, indescribably exotic scenery with their eyes and savor the lingering impression, so long lectures were unnecessary, and they listened with sparkling eyes to the brief explanations that helped them soak up the atmosphere. Today, by chance, a pleasantly strong breeze blew through the bamboo grove in Arashiyama, rustling the leaves, and the sun setting in the west filtered through the trees, allowing them to take very beautiful photos and videos, which made them extremely happy. The scenery from Togetsukyo Bridge was crystal clear and beautiful, and the overwhelming Thousand-Armed Kannon of Sanjusangendo, the gorgeous view of the golden pavilion floating on the pond at Kinkaku-ji, and the Senbon Torii of Fushimi Inari faintly emerging in the dim twilight as the day began to darken — they simply looked at these, captured them in photos, occasionally asked a few questions, and were moved. That was the feel of it, and during the tour they ate only a single mitarashi dango while moving entirely by train and on foot. They were impressed by my energy, but the guests' stamina was quite remarkable as well. I was very happy when they said "Great day!" as we parted.

What Is a Private Tokyo Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Shibuya and Tsukiji The guests arrived in Japan from North America the previous day. They planned to stay in Tokyo for a while before visiting Hiroshima, Kyoto, and Osaka, and then returning home. The guests had created a bucket list for this trip, and today's tour brought two of those items to life: crossing the Shibuya Scramble Crossing and enjoying an "omakase" course at a sushi restaurant in Tsukiji. The biggest item on the bucket list for this trip was to visit a temple in Shizuoka, and the guests were scheduled to head to Shizuoka the next day. They kindly showed me several photographs taken about seventy years ago in front of a large tree within the temple grounds. The plan for the next day was to take photographs in front of that same tree in remembrance. Wishing that their bucket list would come true, we parted ways in front of the Hotel.
