    Title: What Can You See on a Private Osaka Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan to take part in the Osaka Marathon. They mentioned that they were preoccupied with focusing on the marathon, but they seemed able to relax during the tour. Although they had no particular requests for places to visit, they had been advised by a friend to see shrines and temples, so I built the itinerary while listening to their thoughts. Shitennoji Temple happened to be holding its Taishi-e ceremony that day, which delighted them. They had also been unsure where to buy a souvenir they were looking for, so they were relieved once they had a clear idea of where to find it.     What Can You See on a 6-Hour Private Walking Tour of Kanazawa? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests I welcomed this time had previously joined my tour in Kyoto last year, visiting Japan again from North America, this time traveling together for a friends' trip. As they come to Japan every year, they are quite familiar with the country. Their accommodation was a little hard to find, so we met about five minutes later than scheduled, but they came out to the main street and we joined up without any trouble. Since I had introduced the charm of Kanazawa during last year's tour, I aimed to help them enjoy as much as possible within the six hours. On the day, I listened to the wishes of a member of the group who was visiting Japan for the first time and adjusted the itinerary to include the tour of Myoryu-ji Temple at the end, and the guests enjoyed the tour.

    What Is a Private Kyoto Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Kinkaku-ji, Daitoku-ji, and Gion The guests were a group visiting from North America, and this was their first time in Japan and in Kyoto. They planned to travel from Tokyo to Osaka and Kyoto, then return to Tokyo for a few more days before heading home. Right next to the Hotel where I met the guests today, there is a small shrine called Kikuno Daimyojin, which is a quietly renowned and very powerful "relationship-severing" shrine in Kyoto, and one from which I myself (and my family) had once received its blessings, so I began by explaining it, including my own experience. The shrine's website states that its blessings are so strong that people should not come casually. In essence, if you gain a blessing recklessly for a trivial wish, what you lose may be greater. In life, there is an unseen balance in which gaining something means losing something else. The guests were deeply moved by the brilliance of Kinkaku-ji, the simple beauty of the tea ceremony and dry landscape gardens at Daitoku-ji, the history of Nijo Castle, the overwhelming presence of the thousand-armed Kannon at Sanjusangen-do, and the daily lives of geiko and maiko as well as the "ichigen-san okotowari" custom and the spirit of hospitality at the teahouses of Gion. I was surprised at how relatively accurately one of the guests understood the concept of wabi-sabi. By the time we moved from Sanjusangen-do to Gion, one of the guests had finally recovered from jet lag and became fully engaged, asking one question after another, which I found very enjoyable. While I was explaining kabuki along Gion and the Kamo River, one of the guests asked me if I knew about "Kabuki Democracy" in American politics, and when I said I didn't, they explained it to me. Many people may already know this, but apparently "Kabuki Democracy" refers to the situation in which the two major parties focus on staged, media-driven quarrels rather than actual policy solutions, or to congressional performances acted out according to a predetermined script aimed at pleasing the public rather than substantive debate. It is not an entirely flattering comparison, but I was embarrassed not to have known it, so I learned a great deal myself. I had many down-to-earth conversations about present-day Japan, the Japanese tax system, the average makeup of Japanese households, incomes, and how religion relates to daily life. Since we had been moving around without lunch, we said goodbye in front of a nice-looking restaurant on Teramachi Street, after which the guests said they would go to the Nintendo corner at Takashimaya, then stroll back through Gion on foot, hoping to encounter geiko or maiko before returning to the Hotel. As a final piece of advice, I told them it would be unthinkable to return home without eating okonomiyaki!

    What Does a Private Day Tour of Eastern Kyoto Look Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Today's guests were a group visiting from North America. Originally three people were expected, but due to illness, only some of the guests were able to join. Their home region has a much cooler climate than Japan, and the large temperature difference between morning and midday in Japan seemed to have caused a cold. They had apparently visited popular spots in western Kyoto the previous day, so today they visited the popular spots in eastern Kyoto mentioned above. However, what left the strongest impression was the conveyor-belt sushi restaurant, where they were amazed that the sushi they ordered came around to their own seat.

    Title: What Is a Private Day Trip to Nara Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests today were a group visiting from Europe, arriving from Kyoto and Osaka. Since it was not peak season, none of the sites were very crowded, which made for an ideal tour. From the very beginning, the guests greatly enjoyed feeding the deer in Nara Park. Todai-ji Temple was also relatively uncrowded, so I was able to explain things at a leisurely pace, which was wonderful. I could also take my time explaining Nigatsu-do Hall. Lunch was not crowded either, so we were able to relax and enjoy it. At the Naramachi Nigiwai no Ie, I introduced a typical traditional Japanese house, and the guests seemed very interested in it. I believe they had a very enjoyable time.

    What Can You See on a Private 1-Day Tokyo Family Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from North America. Originally more of the group had planned to join, but some were unable to come at the last minute due to illness. As this was a short trip, they wanted to visit as many places as possible. At Asakusa, they drew omikuji fortunes and offered prayers, and they seemed interested in the explanations about religion in Japan. At Tsukiji, they browsed various shops and enjoyed a tekka-don rice bowl and pork ginger at the food court in the fish market building, saying it was delicious. At Meiji Shrine, they listened with great interest to the history of Japan and of the shrine itself. The guests were very earnest, and one of them said they hoped to become a pilot. They did not seem very interested in Takeshita Street. They found the Iyoshi Cola on Cat Street very tasty. They experienced the Shibuya Crossing and purchased souvenirs at the UNIQLO in Ginza. A food tour had been scheduled from 6:30, but the guests wished to return to their hotel first, so we headed back a little early. They were a very polite and wonderful group.

    What Is a Private Hiroshima Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report On this day, the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum was closed, so I informed the guests of this in advance and arranged to take them to nearby facilities where they could understand the reality of the atomic bombing. When we met on the day, I confirmed this again before starting the tour. The guests had visited Japan several times before but were coming to Hiroshima for the first time, so we visited the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park together. When we visited the hypocenter and the Atomic Bomb Dome, the guests listened very attentively to the explanations. At Honkawa Elementary School, a staff member at the reception kindly took a photo for us. After that, we moved to Hiroshima Castle, where I explained the history of Hiroshima. Then we enjoyed okonomiyaki together. We had a pleasant conversation about many topics, including their travels. Afterward, I saw them off at Hiroshima Station, and the tour came to an end.

    What's a Private Day Tour of Tokyo Like with Shibuya, Harajuku, and Tokyo Tower? A Guide's Report I guided a group visiting Japan from North America. We met at Takadanobaba Station. Their initial request was to visit the Shibuya Scramble Crossing, Takeshita Street in Harajuku, Omoide Yokocho in Shinjuku, and Golden Gai. However, I judged that Omoide Yokocho and Golden Gai were not suitable for the group, so as an alternative I proposed a visit to Tokyo Tower. Since there was also time to spare, I suggested adding a stroll around the Imperial Palace to the itinerary. The guests agreed to these proposals. First, we traveled from Takadanobaba Station by subway to Otemachi, then walked via Sakuradamon to Yurakucho. I explained the history of Edo and Tokyo, including how the residence changed from that of the shogun family to that of the Emperor. Next, so that the guests could also enjoy the scenery from the train and the cityscape, we moved to Shibuya by JR and viewed the Shibuya Scramble Crossing and the Hachiko statue. We then headed to Harajuku by JR and strolled along Takeshita Street. The response from the guests was especially positive here. After that, we traveled by JR to Meguro, transferred to the subway to Onarimon, and walked to Tokyo Tower. From the observation area, the guests were able to enjoy the night view of Tokyo. In addition, at the request of the guests, we had ramen for dinner at a restaurant inside the tower. For the return trip, in order to let the guests enjoy the night view further, we traveled from Onarimon by subway to Suidobashi, transferred to JR, and returned to Takadanobaba Station via Shinjuku. At the end of the itinerary, the guests all commented that it had been a satisfying day.

    Self-Background

    During my university years, I lived in a dormitory for four years and had the opportunity to live with many international students.
    Of course, we spoke English.
    After graduating from university, I started working as an English teacher at a junior high school.
    I was able to have a fun teaching life while interacting with many students. During that time, I continued to study English on my own and obtained the pre-1st grade English proficiency test.
    After that, I worked for the Board of Education as a supervisor in charge of English education, and then managed a school as a vice principal, and later principal.
    After retiring from teaching, I took the TOEIC (L&R) and achieved my highest score of 945.
    I also obtained a license as a national guide-interpreter, and began working as a guide for overseas visitors in English.
    Currently, I guide tourists to several places around the country.

    What Is a Private Tokyo Cherry Blossom Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Oceania, and it was their first time in Japan. Since they had lived in Oceania for a long time, they spoke clear, easy-to-understand English. The weather was calm with no wind, and although the blossoms were the early-blooming Kanhizakura variety, they were able to see the cherry blossoms they had long hoped to see, and I believe they were very satisfied. For lunch, I took them to "Asakusa Umaimon Azuma," which offers a wide range of options, and they were very pleased. The guests were cheerful and friendly throughout, and they were easy and pleasant to guide.
