What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Arashiyama, Nanzenji, and Fushimi Inari The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from Europe. On this day a cold front arrived and the temperature dropped suddenly. Light rain fell occasionally, but it did not significantly affect the tour. The only time we encountered rain was while walking through the bamboo grove in Arashiyama. By the time we reached Nanzenji Temple, there were breaks of sunshine. At each place we visited, the autumn foliage was at its peak, and there were many Japanese tourists as well. Nanzenji Temple in particular was crowded with many Japanese tourists. At Nanzenji, I let the guests choose between the garden of the Hatto (Lecture Hall) or Tenjuan. In the end, they chose to enter Tenjuan. One of the guests enjoyed photography and would often stop to take many photos. There was a sign warning of "bears and wild boars" at the Arashiyama bamboo grove, which surprised the guests. The photo was taken at Fushimi Inari.

I was born and grew up in Kyoto and now live near Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto. I used to be a schoolteacher of English and welcome a lot of students from foreign countries. I really enjoyed showing them around Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Himeji, and Hiroshima. I have been a professional tour guide for about 8 years. I always try to let my guests learn Japanese traditional and modern culture. Since I was born in Kyoto, I know a lot about its culture and people. I myself enjoyed several sports, such as soccer, judo, and marathon when I was young. I’m much interested in baseball and sumo. My motto as a tour guide is to let my guests learn about our tradition and culture precisely and really enjoy themselves. I strongly hope you will enjoy the tour in Japan with me.

A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting from North America and had researched shops in advance, and they seemed very much looking forward to the tour. Because we started early in the morning, we were able to enter Itsukushima Shrine without waiting in line. The guests seemed to really enjoy taking photographs and took many pictures. What's a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Nijo Castle, Fushimi Inari, and Shorenin The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from Europe. After traveling through Tokyo, Hakone, and Takayama, they had arrived in Kyoto the previous day and strolled through Gion in the evening. Today we first headed to Nijo Castle, where I shared stories from the Warring States period and the era of the Tokugawa shoguns, and the guests were deeply impressed by the Karamon Gate, the sliding-door paintings of the Ninomaru Palace, and the ranma transom carvings. They took many photos in the Ninomaru Garden and the Honmaru Garden. At Fushimi Inari, it began to rain lightly, but the guests were moved by the Senbon Torii and the autumn foliage of Mount Inari and took many photos. Finally, at Shorenin Monzeki, the sky cleared and the late afternoon sun shone through, and the guests were captivated by the beautiful autumn colors of the Soami Garden and the Kirishima Garden, taking many photos.

Hello, This is Shige. I was born and brought up in Osaka. I have been enjoying working as a tour guide since 2016 after retired from a manufacturing company in which I worked at the overseas department. So I experienced a lot of business with customers in Europe, Asia, Australia, and USA where my three years of living and working at the subsidiary company with my family was the most amazing experience of my life. Well, Japan has a long history including ancient remains, historic buildings and cultures at each period over 2000 years. I hope you will enjoy exploring Japan in this tour. I look forward to seeing you soon.

What Can You See on a Private Kyoto Tour of Arashiyama and Gion? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group from North America who were very close to one another. The pickup location was originally a B&B in a private house, but as it did not seem comfortable, it was changed to a hotel the day before. The guests did not show much interest in temples and wished to visit places where they could fully enjoy nature and autumn foliage, such as the bamboo grove, so in Arashiyama we walked deep along the river to a spot I do not usually visit and they enjoyed the autumn leaves. In Gion, they enjoyed ice cream and shopping at a matcha shop. At the end, they wanted to have miso ramen, so I guided them to a restaurant before we said goodbye.

Kanagawa in One Day: Hakone Shrine & Owakudani

    Tour Itinerary

    • 9:00 Meet at the hotel
    • 10:00 Hakone Shrine
    • 11:30 Pirate ship from Motohakone to Togendai
    • 13:00 Owakudani
    • 15:00 End the tour at Gora

Title: What Is a Private Hakone Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Hakone Shrine, the Pirate Ship, and Owakudani Body: The guests were a group of friends visiting from Europe. After staying in Tokyo, they came to Hakone, and after this they planned to travel to Takayama, Kanazawa, Hiroshima, Okayama, Kurashiki, and Kyoto. They had researched the route thoroughly, and they said they had already had a wonderful time in Tokyo. At Hakone Shrine, I first explained the differences between Shinto and Buddhism, the influence each has had on Japanese culture, and the differences in the ways of worship. The guests appreciated this, saying it helped them understand the source of the surprise they had felt when they first saw these things in Japan. Immediately after the explanation, they also purchased many "omamori" (protective amulets). At Hakone Shrine, I explained the differences between Shinto and Buddhism, the influence both have had on Japanese culture, and the differences in the forms of worship. As a result, the guests were very pleased, saying the reasons for the surprise they had experienced during their first visit to Japan had become clear. It was right in the middle of the autumn foliage season, and an extra pirate ship had even been added for group visitors, so it was very crowded and lively. However, although the weather had been perfectly clear in the morning, it became cloudy just as we arrived at the pirate ship and Owakudani, and unfortunately we could not get a good view of Mount Fuji, which was a bit disappointing. That said, they seemed to already know about the "black eggs," and they enjoyed trying one. At the end, there happened to be a direct bus to the hotel at Gora Station, so we concluded the tour there.

    Hello and welcome to Tokyo!

I have been working for business with American companies for many years. I have many experiences guiding customers from around the world in Japan and taking Japanese customers to the USA and Europe.

I now have a national license as a guiding interpreter, and I want to introduce the unique gigantic city of Tokyo and the traditional Japanese culture, which is not shown in the guidebooks, to people worldwide who are interested in it. In addition, I want to introduce various Japanese foods you can enjoy only in Japan.
Unique experiences such as the Sumo Training Viewing and Tea Ceremony are optionally available.
Depending on your preference and itinerary, I can guide you in Tokyo, Kamakura, and Hakone so that you can enjoy your time in Japan.

What Is a Private Day Tour of Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Kinkaku-ji, Arashiyama, and Fushimi Inari I had the pleasure of guiding the guests, who were visiting Japan for the first time. They had already visited Tokyo, Kanazawa, and other places, but as this was their first guided tour, I explained about Japan and Kyoto starting from the basics. They were delighted with the beautiful autumn foliage at Kinkaku-ji. In the Arashiyama area, they were impressed by everything, including the bamboo grove, the observation deck, the Togetsukyo Bridge, and the Kimono Forest. After lunch, I guided them to Fushimi Inari Taisha, where they were delighted by the thousands of torii gates and the beauty of the shrine buildings. The tour concluded here, but since the guests were concerned about finding their way back to the hotel, I accompanied them there.

Hello, my name is Mizuho Yoshikawa. Please call me Mizu and my name means rice and water in Japanese.
I’ve been a tour guide more than 200 times since the spring of 2023 in Kobe, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, Wakayama and Kochi. My tour is always original and new, depending on the guest’s preferences, encounters, seasons and weather.
In Kyoto, one of my tours is to climb Mt. Kurama. It is about 1 hour from the city of Kyoto by train, it is a very quiet and beautiful mountain.
In Osaka, which is called the kitchen of Japan, I am also in charge of food tour.
In Nara, in addition to the Great Budda Hall, I guide guests to the temple with a really great view and Japanese wine, sake tasting.
Every city has a unique charming point.
The motto of my guiding is ” Ichigo Ichie” Once in a lifetime or seize the day. I learn this concept that the moment will never be the same again through tea ceremonies.
I like a tea ceremony that is part of the traditional Japanese culture and embodies the spirit of “omotenashi” or hospitality. Through the tea ceremony, we can feel the spirit of “omotenashi” that has been passed down to us from ancient times.
And I like to travel abroad and domestically, and I have been to 13 overseas countries and most of the prefectures in Japan. Traveling always gives me a new perspective, which is exciting and thrilling. Nowadays, we can learn a lot from the Internet, but traveling teaches us that it is important to have direct experience. When I travel, I feel that my five senses are infinitely expanded, and through my tour, I help all guests to have the same feeling in Japan.
I was born and raised in Kanagawa Prefecture, which is next to Tokyo Prefecture in eastern Japan. When I was little, I could see Mount Fuji from my backyard. There was also a rice field nearby, and I grew up listening to the croaking of frogs. Listening to the frogs and seeing the mountains made me feel very calm.
I moved to the city of Kobe, one of the Kansai areas in western Japan, which includes Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, and so on. I’m not from the Kansai area of western Japan, but I think that makes me sensitive to the differences between that area and the Kanto area, Tokyo, where I grew up.
Speaking of Kobe, you might be thinking of Kobe beef. Of course you do. There are also other sake breweries in Nada in Kobe. You can also go from Kobe city to Himeji Castle, also known as the White Egret Castle, which was the first in Japan to be listed as a World Heritage Site in 1993.
Let’s meet and enjoy Japan together!

What Is a Private Kyoto Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The tour was for a group visiting from North America. Because we started early in the morning, it was quite cold at first. While we were walking, one of the guests said their ears hurt and wanted to return to the hotel, so part of the group went back to the hotel to accompany them. In the end, the rest of the group carried on with the tour. Perhaps because it was early in the morning, and also because there were fewer school-trip students, there were no major crowds anywhere. This allowed us to enjoy activities such as ringing the bell at Kiyomizu Main Hall, drinking the water at Otowa Falls, and trying the "Omokaru-ishi" (wishing stone) experience.

What Is a Private Bonsai-Focused Day Tour in Omiya, Saitama Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan from North America. Their flight into Japan the previous day was delayed, so the start time was changed from 8:30 to 10:00. Some of the guests were particularly fond of bonsai. This week the bonsai art museum featured many mame-bonsai (miniature bonsai) displays, and the group was moved by the charming little world these miniature bonsai create. The guests were also delighted when a security staff member folded origami for them. They visited many bonsai gardens as well, and since each one had its own distinct character, they enjoyed noticing the differences. They were also impressed by the beautiful scenery along the maple-lined street and took photographs there.
