Title: What Is a Private Day Tour of Miho no Matsubara and Nihondaira in Shizuoka Like? A Licensed Guide's Report It was still the late rainy season, with heavy downpours hitting various parts of Japan, so the weather was a concern. On the day itself, although heavy rain fell in the early morning, it stopped by the time the tour began, allowing us to start without any trouble. On the way to Miho no Matsubara, we were able to see Mount Fuji in its full form, which is very rare for this time of year. The guests were very excited and delighted. According to the taxi driver, the early morning rain may have pushed the clouds aside, allowing us to glimpse Mount Fuji for a brief moment. Afterward it became covered by thick clouds, so being able to see Mount Fuji even for an instant was a stroke of luck. As it was a public holiday, there was a very long line at the Nihondaira Ropeway with a considerable wait. On top of that, the high humidity and temperature drained our energy, which was challenging. Nevertheless, the guests were able to experience nature as well as traditional culture, and seemed very satisfied.

I have been a guide over ten years. I always make my utmost efforts to make tours enjoyable and memorable for the guests. I always enjoy traveling myself. I have received warm hospitality through my life domestically and internationally. I would like my guests to feel the same hospitality. I would like to entertain tourists from abroad by showing around and explaining about not only the places but also Japanese culture in a friendly way.
I have been an English teacher all my life. I challenged to get the guide license and am enjoying guiding ever since.
I especially guide around Mt.Fuji area. Every time I do guiding around Mt.Fuji, I am impressed by the beauty and its overwhelming power. I want my guests to encounter this beautiful and yet powerful mountain of Mt.Fuji.

What Is a Private Family Day Tour of Shizuoka Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Kunozan Toshogu and Nihondaira The guests were a family visiting from North America. The group traveled by a taxi they had hired. The weather was fine, so the group decided to climb the 1,159 stone steps up to Kunozan Toshogu Shrine on foot. They enjoyed the hike, working up a good sweat along the way. At the Nihondaira Yume Terrace, Mount Fuji was mostly hidden by clouds, but the top of its shoulder could be seen a little. The meal at The Terrace of the Nihondaira Hotel was very satisfying thanks to the wonderful view. At the Takumi-juku workshop, the group experienced making chopsticks. They spent more than an hour completing their own original chopsticks, which they could also take home as a souvenir, and they were very pleased. The chopstick material can be chosen from cherry, walnut, or maple. They chose cherry.

My name is Terry Hirao, Shizuoka’s local tour guide. You can call me Terry, as in Teriyaki. I love Japan and Japanese culture and can show you the best of Japan, its history, breathtaking beauty, delicious foods, Japanese Tea. Shizoka is located in the middle of Tokyo and Kyoto/Osaka, two largest metropolitan cities and famous for Mt. Fuji, Japanese Tea and a lot more. The most popular destinations in Shizuoka are Nihon Daira Plateau, Kunozan Toshogu Shrines (National Treasure), Miho Pine Tree Grove (World Cultural Heritage). I hope I can help you enjoy your trip!!

What Is a Private Osaka Cultural and Local Food Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan, and for this tour they expressed a particular wish to experience Japanese culture and local food. Throughout the tour, the guests asked many questions about Japanese culture, customs, and food, and listened attentively to my explanations. At Kuromon Market, they sampled tempura, black bean tea, dried fruit, and pickles, and purchased many souvenirs. At the request of some of the guests, I guided them to Nipponbashi's "Denden Town," popular for Japanese anime and figures, as well as the "Pokémon" and "One Piece" goods sections at the Daimaru department store in Shinsaibashi, which they greatly enjoyed. At Doguyasuji, they also purchased many souvenirs at a shop selling remarkably realistic food samples. Since they wanted a light meal, I took them to a standing udon shop in Namba, where they were surprised at how unusual it was, as well as how tasty and inexpensive. At Dotonbori, everyone enjoyed the popular soft-serve ice cream made by a Turkish performer and were very satisfied. Before we even started, the guests mentioned they were tired from the previous day and wished to finish by around 15:00, so the tour ended early.

    Dear my guests,

This is (Mr.) Yama, greeting from Kobe, Japan.
I would like to warmly welcome you to Japan this time. I am from the city of Kobe, which is of course, well-known for very tasty Kobe Beef . You can taste
real genuine Kobe Beef here. Kobe is also called “Home of Japanese Sake” with lots of Sake breweries, and I recommend you would visit those breweries
if you have any interest in Japanese Sake as well as one aspect of Japanese cultures. Of course, you can have tastings of various kinds of Sake there.

Whenever during the tour, I always try to make it safe, pleasant and comfortable for all of the guests, which is my first priority. I am very much confident
that you can have a pleasant and unforgettable experience in Japan. Just tell me about your preference; what you would like to like to see, have, know
and eat and so on. Particularly, I hold the license for cooking qualified by the government here and maybe, I can reply you for questions related to the
foods here. In this respect, I strongly recommend you would try not only famous Japanese cuisine such as Sushi, Tempura or Suki-yaki but some
Japanese traditional local foods, like Tako-yaki, Okonomi-yaki and Kushkatsu. They are sometimes called the soul foods of Japan. Here is the brief
    explanation for these three foods.

    1) Tako-yaki
Tako-yaki is a snack filled with pieces of octopus in a batter of flour , egg and soup stock. You can call them octopus dumplings or balls. “Tako” means
octopus and “yaki” means grilled or broiled.
    2) Okonomi-yaki
This word Okonomi-yaki means “cook just as you like” and you can use whatever you like as toppings, such as beef, pork, shrimp, squid and octopus.
Okonomi-yaki is round shape and just like pancakes or pizza in shape mainly made from egg, flour and water.
    3) Kushi-katsu
Kushi-katsu is skewered cutlet or deep-fried foods on a stick. “Kushi” means skewer and “katsu” means cutlet. Various kinds of foods are used for
ingredients such as beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, squid, octopus and lots of kinds of vegetables.

Actually, the western Japan including Osaka, Kobe and Himeji is called as “Home of such local soul foods”. You should give it a try and I am sure
that you like them very much.

I sincerely hope that I can be your tour guide this time in Kobe, Osaka and Himeji. If my guests said to me after the tour, “I have had a very good
and pleasant time with you today. I hope I can come here again and name you as our guide”, which is my great pleasure. Moreover, I would be
great honored if they say “I like Japan now thanks to you”.

Looking forward to meeting you soon here.
    Doomo Arigato Gozaimasu!

Title: What's a Private Tokyo Tour Combining Ghibli, Anime, and Historic Sites Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Europe. In our initial communication, the main interests were manga, anime, studios, and games, but many of these were not located within central Tokyo, and many admission fees were not included in "what to expect," which made planning difficult. After some discussion, we settled on visiting the Suginami Animation Museum, and otherwise focusing on quieter places to learn about Japanese history and culture. I set up a course covering Nezu Shrine, the Nikolai Cathedral in Ochanomizu, Yushima Seido, Kanda Myojin, and the Hakuhinkan in Ginza. However, the night before, since they had already visited shrines and temples that day, they said they very much wanted to do the course I had first suggested — "seeing Spirited Away by Studio Ghibli at the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum." This was included in the materials I submitted to [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/), and part of this museum has been incorporated into many of the displays at the Ghibli Warehouse in Ghibli Park. I explained everything while comparing it with scenes from the films they knew. Ghibli rarely makes definitive statements about many of its subjects, but since director Hayao Miyazaki was heavily influenced by buildings from the Taisho to early Showa periods, this place is a kind of sacred site. They were so delighted here that we ended up spending more time than expected, so we skipped the Suginami Animation Museum. Instead, I took one of the guests shopping for goods at Kiddy Land Kichijoji (Chara Park). By this point we had almost run out of time, so we bought tickets at Shinjuku Station, then saw the 3D cat and the Godzilla head before finishing the tour.

I had worked in the international business scene for over 40 years and traveled to North America and European countries over 1000 days.
After I retired from the business, I traveled to most of the major sightseeing spots in all 47 prefectures in Japan.

My guide is starting from a brief history of the site where I am going to guide. I usually add a briefing about Japanese culture based on religions, such as Shinto Shrine and Buddhist temples. A geographic background behind the history is also important.
    My course includes 4 to 5 (in 6 hours) sites from the following depending on where I will pick the guests up;
    – Senso ji Temple
    – Kappabashi Kitchenware Market
    – Tokyo Skytree
    – Ueno Park
    – Nezu Shrine
    – Imperial Palace outer park
    – Tokyo Central Station, Marunouchi historic district
    – Tsukiji Fish Market
    – Koishikawa Korakuen Garden
    – Ginza
    – Odaiba
    – Hama Rikyu Garden
    – Shinjuku Gyoen Garden
    – Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building
    – Roppongi
    – Meiji Shrine
    – Harajuku & Takeshita Street
    – Shibuya
    – and Any of your interest.

I am happy to introduce Japanese Manga/Anime cultures such as Akihabara, Nakano Broadway and Ghibli related sites.
Travelling along the JR central line where guests can stopover at major animation studios (it is not accepted to visit the inside). The majority of animation studios such as TMS Entertainment, SUNRISE, A1 Pictures etc. are located in this area. Suginami Animation museum, Studio Ghibli and Ghibli Museum are also located.
Guests can feel old houses in the Spirited Away scene in the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum.

I can also provide a pilgrimage to the sacred place (shooting location) for the Shinkai Makoto animation movies such as Your name, Weathering with you, and Suzume.

Another interesting feature is to visit authentic Japanese style pub meals such as Yakitori, Karaage, and Sushi etc.
Asakusa Hoppy Street, Ameyoko Street, Yurakucho, Shimbashi, Shinjuku Golden gai, Shinjuku Omoide Yokocho are nice to visit.

A Sake tasting at Sake Cellar can be an option.

In addition to the above, I am available in the neighboring cities.

Kawagoe is an old town developed in the 17th century. It has very close relationship with the Edo central government. Kawagoe castle ruins, Kitain temple and 500 Buddha statues will welcome the guests.
These areas are renovated and provide an old days atmosphere.
Japanese style sweets food stands will fascinate the guests.
Kawagoe is about 1 – 1.5 train trip from Tokyo.

Kamakura is the first Samurai worriers government established in the late 12th century.
The Buddhism are introduced to Japan in the 6th century, and flourished at Nara and Kyoto later. A newer Buddhism sect such as Zen has well developed at Kamakura area.
Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, Gigantic Buddha statue at Kotokuin Temple and the flower temple Hasedera Temple are must-see.
Kamakura is about 1 – 1.5 train trip from Tokyo.

I am also happy to develop any other site the guests have interest.

What Is a Private Day Tour of Hiroshima and Miyajima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The forecast had called for heavy rainfall from the previous day, so I was quite worried, but it turned out to be only light rain. At Daishoin Temple, we happened to encounter a group of mountain ascetics who kindly blew their conch-shell horns for us, and a member of a local revitalization team dressed as a samurai warrior gave us a detailed explanation about swords. All in all, it seemed to be a lucky day. After Shukkeien Garden, at Peace Memorial Park we visited both the museum and the memorial hall, and I felt we were able to see everything efficiently. For lunch the guests enjoyed okonomiyaki, and since they also wanted to try oysters on Miyajima, they had raw oysters and fried oysters, which they were delighted to find delicious. The guests were staying in Hiroshima that night, but we returned to Hiroshima Station to collect their luggage before parting ways.

Hi, I’m Kahori, a nationally licensed tour guide, and delighted to show people around this area. For the past almost 10 years, I have mainly guided foreign medical professionals around Hiroshima City and Miyajima, gaining a deep understanding of the effects of radiation and the support for A-bomb survivors.
Hiroshima is a city of rivers and the sea. Along the rivers Cherry trees line, and the calm Seto Inland Sea, dotted with islands, creates a stunning landscape. Also, the sea has many islands called “art islands” which have fantastic arts relating to the art festival “Setouchi Triennale”. In addition to our two World Heritage Sites, this area is rich in attractive resources. I hope many of you will come and experience this fascinating land. Personally, I am very passionate about modern art and enjoy sports like stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) on our rivers.
I look forward to meeting you, interacting with you, and also, learning from you!

What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Today I guided the guests on a private one-day tour of Kyoto's popular sightseeing spots. I put in extra effort to make sure they had an enjoyable day in Kyoto. As we had already run over on time, I explained the key points of our final stop, Kiyomizu-dera, in front of the Nio-mon Gate, and then saw the guests off at the bus stop nearest their hotel. They plan to visit Kiyomizu-dera on their own the next day. In the final stage of the tour, we encountered a large-scale demonstration on Kawaramachi-dori and Shijo-dori, which significantly delayed the buses, but I believe the guests were still able to have an enjoyable day.

After sightseeing in Tokyo, they planned to travel to Kyoto and Osaka. At Meiji Shrine, they seemed deeply impressed by the quiet and solemn atmosphere. What Is a Rainy-Day Private Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Unfortunately it rained, and at times the rain was heavy, so we had to take shelter twice. The guests seemed deeply impressed by the 1,001 statues of Kannon at Sanjusangendo and by the lush green mountainside of Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Since the guests would be staying in Kyoto for three more days, I let them know that the Yamahoko float procession of the Gion Festival would take place on the 17th. The Gion area was already decorated for the festival and street stalls were set up, so the guests were able to see a side of Kyoto unique to this season. It was the guests' first time in Japan, and despite the rain and the waiting time for the bus, they never became irritable and were very pleasant to be with.

  • Shizuoka: Kashi no Ichi & Disperse at Shimizu Port

Shizuoka: Kashi no Ichi & Disperse at Shimizu Port

    Tour Itinerary

    • 9:30 Meet at Shimizu Port
    • 9:50 Nihondaira Yume Terrace, Nihondaira Tea Museum
    • 10:50 Miho no Matsubara, Miho Shrine
    • 12:15 Kashi no Ichi
    • 13:40 Shizuoka City Tokaido Hiroshige Museum of Art
    • 14:40 Seiken-ji Temple
    • 15:30 Disperse at Shimizu Port

What Is a Private Shizuoka Day Tour from Shimizu Port Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were two people arriving by cruise ship. Because I had informed the guests in advance that the weather would require precautions against heat, they had reserved a private vehicle beforehand for the tour. At Shimizu Port, we were able to start the tour right at the meeting time without waiting for a taxi, and during the drive the guests could relax comfortably in the cool car. Unfortunately, there was a lot of cloud cover, so we could not get a satisfying view of Mount Fuji, but the guests enjoyed the view of Shizuoka City from Nihondaira Yume Terrace and the history and scenery of Miho no Matsubara. For Mount Fuji, they viewed it through photos and video. Since the guests drink various kinds of tea at home, I guided them to a tea hall. They saw the tea fields, and when they sampled green tea they seemed to like it very much, buying Shizuoka tea as a souvenir. At the Kashi no Ichi market, they had seafood rice bowls and tempura rice bowls, and appeared very satisfied. As the guests were interested in culture and art, they listened attentively to explanations at each destination and in the car. There were no particular problems, and thanks to the cooperation of the driver, we were able to complete the entire itinerary smoothly. The guests were very pleased.

Hello, I’m Anne. I was born and raised in Shizuoka. As a student, I volunteered as an interpreter guide in Kyoto. I love traveling and even worked for a travel company in the past. I like learning different cultures, too. After graduating from a graduate school in Australia, I came back to Shizuoka and have been teaching at a high school and a university. I am also certified as a Japanese (language) teacher. Through my experiences living in different places and my interest in Japan, I realized again the charms of Japan and Shizuoka. This passion for sharing the attractions of Japan, especially Shizuoka, led me to become a national licensed guide interpreter in March 2024. Shizuoka is an attractive destination for its rich nature, fascinating history and culture, and delicious local foods. I would be delighted to help you discover more about Shizuoka and make your stay even more memorable!

    Tokyo Customized Full-Day Private Tour

    Tour Itinerary

    • 09:00 We met at the Hotel shuttle bus arrival point at JR Maihama Station, discussed the places they wanted to visit that day, and started the tour. The destinations were Shibuya Scramble Crossing, Meiji Shrine, Takeshita Street, Shinjuku Gyoen, and Akihabara. All transportation could be done with a Tokyo Metro one-day pass, but Mr. Rodney mentioned that he might possibly change the destinations, and just in case, he wanted to be able to ride any subway line, so we used the 900 yen common ticket. Having decided this, we traveled from JR Maihama to JR Shinkiba Station on the Keiyo Line, and purchased the 900 yen subway common one-day pass at Yurakucho Line Shinkiba Station.
    • 10:10 Arrived at Shibuya Scramble Crossing. Also greeted Hachiko. When we were about to move to Harajuku, Ms. Malia requested, "I want to go to the Nintendo Store," so we walked from the Scramble Crossing to shop at the Nintendo Store and Pokemon Center on the 6th floor of Shibuya PARCO. After finishing, we moved to Harajuku.
    • 11:35 Arrived at Meiji-jingumae. Guided them through Meiji Shrine.
    • 12:40 Guided them through Takeshita Street. Everyone ate Marion Crepes. After finishing, they wanted to have lunch, so we moved to Shinjuku 3-chome to have lunch before visiting Gyoen.
    • 13:50-14:40 Lunch at Keika Ramen. After finishing, headed to Shinjuku Gyoen.
    • 14:50-15:40 Strolled through Shinjuku Gyoen. After finishing, when I confirmed we would go to Akihabara, they requested to change it to Ginza, so we went to Ginza. His wife wanted to visit a kimono shop.
    • 16:10-17:30 Ms. Kakila purchased a kimono at "Kimono Tosui" on the 6th floor of the Ginza Kabukiza Gallery Building. Mr. Rodney and the two daughters wanted to stroll around nearby, so I took them to Kyukyodo for shopping.
    • 17:30 Explained how to return to the hotel from Yurakucho Line Ginza-itchome Station, and ended the tour in front of Ginza Kabukiza.

Title: What Is a Private Walking Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Meiji Shrine, Takeshita Street, and Ginza The group very much liked Meiji Shrine, describing it as "a very serene place." On Takeshita Street, one of the guests wanted to try the crepes from a well-known shop, and just as expected, they said it was delicious, which was a relief. For lunch, they asked me to recommend something light and left the choice to me, so to be safe I suggested tonkotsu ramen at a reliable shop, and they kindly said it was "very delicious ramen," which put me at ease. The group also greatly enjoyed the Imperial Garden. When the tour ended in front of the Kabukiza Theatre, the guests told me, "You are the best guide," so I feel that they were satisfied with the tour.

I acquired national guide license in 2014, and I have been doing guide work full fledged since 2016. In my career before starting guide work, I was a business man and made more than 1,000 business trips both abroad and in Japan, and that experience is my foundation as a guide because I came to know so many places both abroad and in Japan. I have been taking care of both group and individual tourists, and the number of foreign guests I have taken care is close to 2,500 so far. I am based in Tokyo, but I can cover guide work in many prefectures throughout Japan. When I take care of foreign guests, my major concern is to listen attentively to them, find out what they want to know and do in Japan, and give them appropriate guiding in accordance with what I heard from my guests. I would like to provide tailor made tour as much as possible for every precious guest who kindly chose Japan as the tour destination.
