Title: What Is a Private Architecture Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report from Shibuya to Asakusa The guests requested to see a couple of examples of traditional architecture along with several modern buildings, so the tour was designed as a journey through Japanese architecture from past to present to future. [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guide led a private architecture tour of Tokyo that began at a surviving masterpiece of "Metabolism," Japan's first architectural design movement, which emerged during the period of high economic growth. From there, I explained the global significance of the Shibuya Crossing and the redeveloping Shibuya terminal station, which handles boarding and alighting passengers through vertical circulation. I then explained the relationship between the traditional architecture of Meiji Shrine and the modern architecture of the Yoyogi National Gymnasium, and the guests were greatly impressed by how significantly this differs from the traditional architecture of their own region. After appreciating contemporary architecture in Sendagaya, we walked from the Western-style building complexes to eclectic styles in Ueno, returned once more to temples and shrines in Yanaka, and concluded at Senso-ji Temple and the Nakamise shopping street in Asakusa. I then took the guests for wagyu yakiniku before we parted ways. The guests enjoyed an architecture tour that felt like a time machine, traveling from the past to the present and into the future. The guests came from a region with a strong architectural heritage and had a very keen interest in architecture, and this tour was designed to meet that interest.

Born and raised in Tokyo a half-century ago, I have lived in Tokyo all my life except for one year in the UK to study for a master’s course. I am a Tokyo Native with viewpoints based on broader local knowledge than anyone else. I have specialised in Japanese history, culture, and architecture since I was an architect.
Also, I am a foodie emphasising Japanese traditional & healthy foods. I’ve been to many countries around the world, such as the US, Central America, Europe, and Asia. As such, I believe I can anticipate the needs of foreign tourists in Japan.

Despite my experience as a guide for just two years, we can make the best out of our tour by travelling from your hotel to spots time-efficiently with my local knowledge, while accommodating your unexpected requests during the tour.
My strong area includes Yanesen; Old Temples in a Quaint Village, Kamakura, Asakusa Sensoji, Meiji Shrine and Imperial Palace. All give you peace of mind.

What Is a Private Day Tour of Nikko Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Oceania who were very close to each other. Although it unfortunately rained and there was a bit of mist, the guests were still able to enjoy the view of Kegon Falls, and afterward we visited the sightseeing spots as planned — lunch, Kanmangafuchi Abyss, Shinkyo Bridge, and Toshogu Shrine — which they were very pleased with. The guests' stay of about ten days in Japan was coming to an end, but they had not yet had the chance to bathe in an onsen, and strongly wished to do so after this tour. Initially, the plan was only to introduce a public onsen facility to visit after the tour ended, but considering it would be difficult for the guests to visit a crowded public onsen on their own, I arranged a comfortable day-use onsen bath at a hotel during the tour. The result was very well received, and it seems to have become the highlight and best memory of this tour. Since the guests encouraged me to join, I also bathed in the onsen, and the guiding was paused during that time.

What Is a Private Full-Day Tokyo Food and Culture Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. They were especially looking forward to Japanese food, and at Tsukiji they enjoyed sampling a little of many different things. Since they had asked questions about Toyosu in particular, I guided them first to the fish market area early on. At Asakusa, the group had a deep interest in Buddhist culture, and they enjoyed lighting incense at the incense burner themselves and learning the proper way to use the water purification fountain. As some of the guests were selective about food, I guided them to a Japanese restaurant where they could choose dishes such as sushi and tempura, and they were delighted, saying everything was very delicious. At Meiji Shrine, they were amazed by the mystical atmosphere and enjoyed strolling around. They were very pleased and said they were highly satisfied with the tour.

What Can You See on a Private Tokyo Sightseeing Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan for the first time from North America. After sightseeing in Tokyo, they planned to continue to Kanazawa, Kyoto, Osaka, and other destinations. At Meiji Shrine, they appeared impressed by the vast and solemn atmosphere. At the Imperial Palace, they looked with great interest at the stone walls and moats of the former Edo Castle, and listened attentively to historical explanations about the Meiji Restoration and the Emperor. At Senso-ji Temple, they showed interest in the souvenir shops along Nakamise Street. In Akihabara, some of the guests explored shops selling anime figures and games with great interest. Since I accommodated the guests' requests as they wished, I believe they were satisfied.

A Licensed Guide's Report on Shitennoji, Umeda Sky Building, and Dotonbori Body: [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guide led a private one-day tour of Osaka for a group visiting from Oceania, covering Shitennoji Temple, the Umeda Sky Building, Shinsekai (Tsutenkaku), Osaka Castle, and Dotonbori. The guests had purchased the Osaka Amazing Pass, which allowed them to visit these sites at a reasonable cost. Although the price has gone up, I still think it is a pass worth considering, especially when the Umeda Sky Building is included in the itinerary. We parted ways at Dotonbori, after which the guests went on to take the Tombori River Cruise, making full use of the pass and enjoying the day very much. The temperature was quite high, and they even purchased an umbrella along the way.

Title: What Is a Private Family Tour of Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. When I was waiting in the lobby of the hotel, they walked toward me looking quite displeased. It turned out there had been some trouble over tickets at the Shinkansen exit, which had left them frustrated. On top of that, one of the guests was wearing large headphones, and another was looking down awkwardly. Improving this atmosphere all at once would have been impossible and even counterproductive, so while explaining the tour I showed them some photos of my own family. I happened to have photos on my phone from my daughter's coming-of-age ceremony, and when I showed them, one of the guests took an interest in the traditional kimono. The long-awaited breakthrough had arrived. From there, I kept making small adjustments while watching each person's expression, and managed to complete the tour successfully.

    Tour Itinerary

    • 7:20 Tsukiji Outer Market (fish market ~ outer market)

    • 8:15 Disband @ in front of Tsukiji Outer Market

Can You Visit Toyosu and Tsukiji Fish Markets on a Private Tokyo Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. They mentioned that their family had only been able to speak Japanese up until their grandparents' generation. Because their family had once run a fish wholesale business, they had been looking forward to this tour, and they showed particular interest in the reasons behind the market's relocation from Tsukiji to Toyosu. After thoroughly enjoying the tuna auction, they had heard from a friend that they could shop at the seafood wholesale building, so they went around checking out the shops with the intention of coming back later to buy things. Unfortunately, at the Tsukiji Outer Market, the tuna cutting demonstration at Kitani was still being set up, so they were not able to see it. They realized that prices seemed lower for shopping at Tsukiji than at Toyosu, so they decided to shop at Tsukiji, purchasing items such as dashi tea bags (after tasting several samples) and dried goods. After I took them to Tsukiji Hongwanji Temple, they said they wanted to continue shopping, so instead of ending at Tsukiji subway station we returned to the Outer Market and parted ways there. Even though they could no longer speak Japanese, I felt that they still carried a Japanese identity.

Hello! My name is Hideki Maruyama. I was born in Osaka and raised in the Greater Tokyo area. I obtained my National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter Certificate in February 2016.
I spent 23 years working at a leading Japanese automotive company, including 7 years posted overseas. I then worked for a German premium automotive manufacturer for 13 years, followed by 6 years as an advisor to a British energy company. Through these roles at global corporations, I developed and refined key skills such as:
    1. Cross-cultural communication
    2. A deep understanding of business elites and affluent customers
    3. The ability to deliver impactful and impressive presentations in English
In addition to my regular duties, I often served as an interpreter for top executives during meetings with foreign government officials. I also had opportunities to introduce aspects of Japan—such as our national character and consumer preferences—to leadership teams in both the German and British companies.
As a tour guide, I’ve had the pleasure of guiding guests from a wide range of countries especially after the pandemic, including the US, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Norway, Romania, Slovenia, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, India, Hong Kong, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Argentina, Columbia, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Laos, Turkey, Jordan, Kenya and Israel.

【集合場所:Hotel】 # What Is a 4-Hour Private Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Kinkaku-ji, Ryoan-ji, Nijo Castle, and the Kyoto Imperial Palace The guests on this tour were visitors to Japan from North America. They had recently completed their studies, and both were early in their careers. For these reasons, they described their trip to Japan as a meaningful and happy occasion. During our preliminary correspondence, the guests requested a full four locations within the 4-hour tour — Kinkaku-ji, Ryoan-ji, Nijo Castle, and the Kyoto Imperial Palace. As a guide, I was impressed by how well-focused their choices were: Kinkaku-ji and Ryoan-ji as classic expressions of Japanese beauty, and Nijo Castle and the Imperial Palace as sites that illustrate the relationship between samurai governance and the Emperor. However, I had the impression that covering all four locations by public transportation might be quite challenging, so I secured their agreement in advance that we might need to use a taxi for some of the travel. The other concern was, of course, the weather, but that was something we could only leave to chance. On the day of the tour, the guests were full of energy, and their travel and transfers by public transportation went extremely smoothly. The tour proceeded exactly according to the itinerary — and in some cases even slightly ahead of schedule. There was no need at all to use a taxi to make up for lost time. As for the weather, there was only a light drizzle that was not enough to get wet, and there was no need to use umbrellas. The high humidity was as usual, but with cloudy skies and no strong sunlight, it was a relatively comfortable summer tour of Kyoto. The guests remarked that it was "much more comfortable than the heat of Tokyo." Both guests had a strong interest in Japanese culture and history, and they asked many questions at each site, which made for a very rewarding guiding experience. This was their first visit to Japan, but when I spoke about the charms of each of the four seasons at the various sites, they said they would love to visit again in a different season.

I wanted to play a role of the bridge between Japanese people and the people from all over the world as a second life of mine. After two years efforts, I finally got the guide license. Since then, I have guided several handreds of foreign people mainly in Kyoto and Nara for about five years except Corona Pandemic period. Almost all the tourists were deeply impressed by the beauty of nature, traditoin, culture, and art of Japan. I can surely help you enjoy and be satisfied with the sightseeing in Japan. And I’m looking forward to seeing you soon.

Title: What Is a First-Day Tokyo Orientation Tour Like for First-Time Visitors? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Europe. One member of the group had visited Japan several times before, but only for work, so they had never experienced Japan as tourists. During their stay of about three weeks in Japan, they had set aside seven days for Tokyo. For today's tour, which was their first day, they wished to have an orientation to learn how to use public transportation. I explained the shortest route from the Hotel to the subway, the types of discount tickets and how to buy them, station numbers, exit numbers, and how to use the destination-and-exit reference charts. They were impressed by how easy the signs were to read, including how to check the direction of travel of the trains. Some of the guests enjoyed shopping at a shop selling soccer uniforms in Harajuku and at a candy shop on Takeshita Street. Everyone in the group was delighted when they saw the café in Shibuya FUKURAS where you can communicate with a robot. Partly due to jet lag, the tour lasted four hours, but toward the end the group appeared tired, so instead of the originally planned finish in Ginza, we changed the plan and they decided to relax in Shibuya before returning to the Hotel. After Tokyo, they planned to travel to Kyoto, Osaka, and Hiroshima, and the following four days were still undecided. They asked me for a recommendation, saying they wanted to visit somewhere rural. Since they had originally hoped to visit Jigokudani Monkey Park, I agreed with that idea.

What Is a Private Himeji Castle and Kokoen Garden Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Europe. They were students attending the same university, and they seemed very interested in Japan, having Japanese friends and reading books about the country. Since I had been in contact with the guests from the time they stayed in Himeji the day before the tour, when they consulted me about dinner, we chatted comfortably about all sorts of topics throughout and enjoyed touring Himeji Castle and Kokoen Garden. The guests also shared many stories, such as ghost stories from their region and the similarities with Japanese castles, and every one of the stories was fascinating.
