What Can You See on a Private Kyoto and Arashiyama Day Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan from Europe. They mentioned that while matcha and Japanese food are available where they live, they wanted to buy authentic matcha in Kyoto. They said the Kyoto Imperial Palace was larger than they had expected. At Kinkaku-ji (the Golden Pavilion), they enjoyed taking photos and having matcha ice cream. They also liked the beautiful rock garden at Ryoan-ji, but as it was hot, they did not stay very long. Afterward, since there was still time, we went to Arashiyama. The guests had mentioned that they wanted to see the bamboo grove, so I took them there. From the bamboo grove, we walked via Arashiyama Park to the banks of the Katsura River, where I showed them the Togetsukyo Bridge, and then we walked to JR Saga-Arashiyama Station. After that, I accompanied them to Kyoto Station, where we parted ways inside the station. They said they had climbed all the way to the summit at Fushimi Inari the previous day, and mentioned that they were not tired today either, so they were very energetic guests.

Hello! I’m Mako. I’m from Nara and live in Kobe city in Japan right now. I used to live in mountainous area in Nara.
Nara is famous for deer. There is no sea in Nara. On the other hands, Kobe is one of famous port cities in Japan and famous for Kobe beef and night views.
My favorite food is Yatsuhashi. It is one of famous sweets in Kyoto city. When I was a University student, I used to be a volunteer guide at Kiyomizu temple in Kyoto. There are many shops which sells yatsuhashi in Kyoto.

I like traveling. I have been to Canada, South Korea, France, Australia and the United States.

I studied English in South Florida University when I was a university student. I stayed for about 1 year. During stay in the U.S, I visited Las Vegas, New York, Boston, Miami, and so on. After that I worked at the travel company in Japan. Then I got the license of tour guide in 2014. I started to work as a tour guide in 2015. I usually visit Kyoto, Nara ,Osaka and Kobe with my guests. I’m very looking forward to meeting you!

    Tour Itinerary

    • Hiroshima Station – Miyajima – Peace Park – Hiroshima Station

Title: What Is a Private Hiroshima and Miyajima Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan from North America. Due to the recent extreme heat and strong sunlight, one of the guests had been troubled by blistering. At Daishoin Temple, there is a place called Henjokutsu Cave, which serves as a miniature version of the Shikoku pilgrimage course. Inside are enshrined the Diamond Realm Dainichi Nyorai and the Womb Realm Dainichi Nyorai. When explaining these, I find that using Einstein's theory of relativity and quantum mechanics works well, and depending on the guests, they seem to understand it reasonably well. The Peace Memorial Park was busy with preparations for the memorial ceremony, and combined with the heat, I guided the group only to the areas they wished to see.

Originally, I’m a cycling guide doing cycling tours all over Japan.
But, already done Hiroshima & Miyajima tour more than 400 times.
I traveled many countries in my younger days. I traveled Europe, US, China, India, US, Mexico, Peru Australia, NZ, and so on.
I decided to use this experience to become a guide.
I’m afraid but no tipping required, because cycling guides are not allowed to have tipping in my association. And you do not need to pay for my lunch, because my lunch is prepared by our group.
Please do not hesitate to ask me anything, I’ll change the plan according to your requests.
Thank you for your understanding and please stay connected.

    • Accommodation→Miyagawa Morning Market→Jinya-mae Morning Market→Takayama Jinya→Harada Sake Brewery→Sanmachi→Deconaru Yokocho (location guidance only)→Takayama Festival Floats Exhibition Hall→Sakurayama Hachimangu Shrine→Accommodation

Title: What Is a Private Walking Tour of Takayama's Old Town Like? A Licensed Guide's Report There was a bakery inside the Miyagawa Morning Market, and the guests mentioned they would come to buy some the next morning. At the Takayama Jinya, they enjoyed learning about Japanese history and were very satisfied. In the Sanmachi old town area, the guests entered a knife shop along the street and purchased about ten kitchen knives as souvenirs for acquaintances. They noted that Japanese blades carry significant brand value. The shop owner and the owner's spouse both spoke English, and the guests were able to have a detailed, specialized conversation without any need for interpretation. Since we had about an hour to spare, we visited the Takayama Festival Floats Exhibition Hall and Sakurayama Hachimangu Shrine, where I explained the Takayama Festival. As the afternoon was especially hot, I believe going to the museum was a good choice. I also showed the guests the way to Dekonaru Yokocho as a recommended spot for dinner.

What Is a Private Hakone Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Mount Fuji, Owakudani, and the Open-Air Museum The guests were a group visiting from North America, and they had a bright, cheerful spirit. They had been looking forward to seeing Mount Fuji, but there were many clouds and only the base of the mountain was faintly visible, which was unfortunate. They also enjoyed Owakudani. However, they seemed especially fond of the Hakone Open-Air Museum, taking many photographs and viewing everything carefully, which left a strong impression on me. Guiding the group, I felt a real sense of energy and momentum, and despite the heat, it was a memorable tour.

Your tour guide Kappa is my nickname. Kappa is a traditional, imaginary creature who came into being in Japan over 300 years ago. She is good at swimming, like me, for I like swimming. I would like to make our tour operated smoothly as Kappa does when she swims in the river or pond. It is my pleasure to introduce many aspects in our tour, especially cooking, for it is my hobby and I went to the professional cooking and SAKE school, respectively. What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Europe, and Kyoto was the final stop of their trip after traveling to Tokyo, Hakone, Hiroshima, and Osaka. They were deeply impressed by the massive scale and delicate craftsmanship of the historic wooden architecture, such as the main gates and halls of Nanzen-ji and Chion-in temples, as well as by the solemnity of the Buddhist statues at Sanjusangen-do and the beauty of the Japanese gardens. We also discussed the Japanese view of religion, in which Shinto and Buddhism coexist. At the Gion gallery, they were fascinated by the footage of the Gion Festival and the size of the festival floats, and they said they wanted to go see the floats at night.

Hello, This is Shige. I was born and brought up in Osaka. I have been enjoying working as a tour guide since 2016 after retired from a manufacturing company in which I worked at the overseas department. So I experienced a lot of business with customers in Europe, Asia, Australia, and USA where my three years of living and working at the subsidiary company with my family was the most amazing experience of my life. Well, Japan has a long history including ancient remains, historic buildings and cultures at each period over 2000 years. I hope you will enjoy exploring Japan in this tour. I look forward to seeing you soon.

Title: What's a Private Kyoto Tour of the West Side and Arashiyama Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests wished to visit Kinkaku-ji, so I arranged a tour of the western side of Kyoto. The guests were very satisfied with Otagi Nenbutsu-ji and Adashino Nenbutsu-ji, which went well. However, before heading to the next location, some of the guests dropped out at the Sagano Romantic Train in Arashiyama. Since the others said they would meet up later and it would be fine, we proceeded that way. Along the route, I considered having those who had stopped go ahead by taxi to Randen Arashiyama, but they said it was fine, so we continued the tour. That left me with some regret. I also considered taking the bus, but in the end we did not, and it was a misjudgment on my part. Aside from that, the guests enjoyed the tour.

Bye bye smart phone!! Let’s enjoy Japan without bothering to check up your phone all the time with not AI but a local guide like me. Hi, my name is Mimmy. You may think this sounds like a kitten’s name.
I use this nickname because it sounds cute and easy to remember. However,
I actually look rounded, a middle aged woman more like a yellow character of M&Mchocolate, which reminds you of my name easily when you see me.
I was born in Osaka, went to school in Kobe, went to work in Kyoto and married but still live in Osaka. I am a local, native Osakan. My 3 children are all grown up and live separately except one son. Now I live with one son and a husband in suburbs of the Osaka city.
I like travelling, walking around the town and anything new.
I got my guide license in 2017 and started guiding after that. I wasn’t able to work during Covid period but start guiding in 2022 again. I guide Osaka, Kyoto, Nara and Kobe and have experienced more than100 tours including bus tours.
I would like to tell you about the itineraries I usually have in each area.
In Osaka, we usually go to Osaka castle, Shinsekai and Dotonbori Namba area.
I think most important part you should see is Dotonbori Namba in Osaka.
This place is vibrant , energetic, full of 3D signs and different from any other place in Japan.
In Kyoto, we cannot see all famous sightseeing spots in one day.
It will be better to visit each area respectively. I recommend guests who come to Kyoto first time to visit East area, Kiyomizu Temple>Sannenzaka>Ninenzaka>Ishibeikouji>Yasaka shrine> Gion area. This area has an atmosphere of traditional old Kyoto. The most Kyoto like places which suit Kimono. You can rent Kimono in a lot of places around here.
The second place I recommend you is West area: Golden temple and Arashiyama area where Bamboo forest , Tenryuji temple, mountains and a river. There are several nice gardens in this area. If you want to enjoy the nature quietly, you
should come here when it is not crowded (Winter is the most quiet)
In Nara which used to be a capital even older than Kyoto, we visit Todaiji Temple where a huge Buddha is sitting inside of one of the largest wooden hall and you can play with deer everywhere in Nara. Naramachi: a small town in this area is a local place where small interesting shops are.
In Kobe, a port city, you can visit Japanese Sake breweries, Herb garden and the top of Mt.Rokko for viewing Kobe city. A small China town is there, too.

Now I bet you want to leave home to explore somewhere else you do not know.
Not only going to somewhere else, we can help you to do several experiences: making tea, making Japanese sweet, making Takoyaki(food), wearing Kimono, making food samples, attending a tea ceremony, throwing Shriken like Ninja, Using bow and arrow like Samurai, , , ,
I am very happy indeed if I can help you find things impressive enough and have once in a life time experience during our tour.
I am looking forward to sharing a good time with you.

Can You Get a Suica Card and Bullet Train Tickets in Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests had arrived in Japan the previous day and taken a taxi directly from the airport to the hotel, so today was their first time using a train in Japan. By email, the guests had asked for assistance in purchasing bullet train tickets to Kyoto. Anticipating that the guests might also want to buy a regular Suica card (not the Welcome SUICA that can only be purchased at the airport, but the standard Suica available to foreign travelers), I checked the crowd situation at Tokyo Station before heading to the meeting point, as it is one of the few stations with a Station Travel Concierge where foreign travelers can purchase a regular Suica. As expected, due to a suspension of Tokaido Shinkansen operations until early afternoon caused by a derailment of a track maintenance vehicle, there was a longer line than usual. With faint hope that the crowd would ease within a few hours, I went with the guests to the Station Travel Concierge. The crowds had not cleared and there was a very long line. I explained the situation to the guests, and we moved to Ueno Station, where the guests were able to purchase a Suica at the Station Travel Concierge after only a few minutes of waiting. I explained the Suica deposit and how to top up the card. Although purchasing the Suica took some time, the guests understood the situation and seemed satisfied with the tour.

I am a Licensed Guide Interpreter at an age of 61.
I got an early retirement from 36 yrs of the employment in a Japanese financial sector.
I hope I can attend to you with the Japanese politeness, hospitality and smile.

    What can I be expected?
I would like to introduce the photogenic sites, the indigenous experiences
and good Japanese local food around Tokyo, Hakone/Mt Fuji.
I might be able to show you the features of shrine and temple with a religious manner if you’d like.
As a matter of fact, I don’t have a specific religion to believe, though.
I love Japan and that’s why I started a new career as a guide.

    What do I love?
Most of all, my family. I have a wife 56 yrs old, a son 28 yrs old and a daughter 25 yrs old.
I like eating raw fish and sushi, buckwheat noodles and curry rice.

How do I spend my spear time?
I run for 5 km in the morning listening to my favorite music.
I might have a chance to go to a studio program in the fitness club nearby once a week.

I look forward to meeting you soon.
    Thank you.

What Is a Private Full-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Due to the extreme heat, I started the tour earlier than the scheduled start time. The guests were visiting Japan for a trip and enjoyed the tour throughout with cheerful expressions, asking many questions out of great interest in Japanese culture and history. They were also collecting goshuin (temple and shrine stamps) and purchased goshuin at Nanzenji Temple, Otoyo Shrine, Ginkakuji Temple, and Fushimi Inari. For lunch, I guided them to a specialty onigiri shop near Ginkakuji Temple. They tried tamago kake gohan (rice with raw egg) for the first time and were delighted, saying it was delicious. Since they mentioned they planned to go to Shijo Street in the evening, we stopped by a tourist information center so they could enjoy the Gion Festival, and I obtained an English-language pamphlet about the Gion Festival for them. As they said they wanted to visit an anime shop, I guided them to an anime shop inside Asty Kyoto and concluded the tour.

Hi, everyone! I’m Yuriko Suematsu, a government licensed tour guide. Please call me Lily, because Yuri means Lily in English.
I like Japanese history, culture, and Japanese castles. Especially, I like tea ceremony in kimono.(I’m also a licensed kimono dresser.)
So, I sometimes guide around Takayama, Shirakawa-go, Kyoto, Kanazawa, Osaka, Nara and Nagoya in kimono.
There are lots of beautiful places to visit in Japan.
Especially, I recommend you to visit Kyoto and Nara if you are interested in Japanese ancient history. Nara and Kyoto are both ancient capital cities over 1000 years ago.
I also recommend you to visit Gifu(Shirakawa-go and Takayama), my hometown if you want to enjoy rural nostalgic atmosphere.
If you’re interested in Japanese castles, I recommend you to visit Himeji, Osaka, Kanazawa and Nagoya. I’m sure you will have a wonderful time to see beautiful castles.
Let’s enjoy Japanese culture and history together!
