    Title: What's a Full-Day Private Tour of Asakusa and the Tokyo National Museum Like? A Licensed Guide's Report We started the tour first thing in the morning. In Asakusa, I explained the characteristics of Buddhist temples by comparing them with the Shinto shrine we had visited the previous day. I explained that there are Buddhist statues, that the Nio guardian figures originally came from India, that dragons are symbols of happiness and success, that the five-story pagoda has an earthquake-resistant design, and that the altar is extremely gorgeous. I also guided the group around the neighboring Asakusa Shrine. At the Tokyo National Museum, we saw art ranging from the Jomon period to around the Meiji Restoration, including Buddhist statues, sliding-door paintings, ink paintings, armor and helmets, Japanese swords, kimono displays, tea ceremony utensils, kabuki costumes, and much more. The guests listened very attentively. For lunch, since they wished to try casual local comfort food, they ordered Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, yakisoba, and diced steak. The guests also had a couple of beers.     I made many business trips with him to overseas countries. I experienced as an interpreter for meeting late Henry Kissinger and the President of Citi. Corp.
    I changed the job to ORIX corporation, there I was promoted to a Board Member. When the company had acquired Dutch company, I was a member as an accountant to check the Dutch company’s statements of accounts.
    My hobbies are cooking, singing a song, playing tennis & golf, enjoy seeing arts especially opera & musical, travel. I am also busy with taking care of grandchildren. I passed Government Licensed Guide Exam. in 2016. After I retired in 2017, I started guide job as a part timer. So far, I accomplished guide job more than 500 times.
    My area coverage is from Tokyo, Hakone, Kamakura, Mt. Fuji to Kyoto, Nara, Oaka, Hiroshima. I am also able to guide Tea Ceremony, Maiko/Geisha, Sushi Making, Calligraphy, Sumo, Samurai, etc. I can speak excellent English.     What Is a Private Tour of Tokyo's Koishikawa Korakuen and Nezu Shrine Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests visiting Tokyo came from Europe. Because of a long flight of more than 20 hours, some of the guests were tired at the start, so the tour began with only part of the group. At Koishikawa Korakuen, the guests were fascinated by the garden dotted with lessons — such as "worry first, enjoy later" (senyu koraku), Kuhachiya (a warning against drinking too much), the rice paddy, and the Full Moon Bridge. At Nezu Shrine, when I explained Shinto, one of the guests remarked, "I really like that way of thinking." After passing through many torii gates, the guests were delighted, saying they had gained "the blessing of the gods!" We returned to the Hotel and the rest of the group joined, then we had dinner at a lovely restaurant at the foot of Tokyo Tower. It was very well received, with comments of "delicious." The guests also enjoyed the night view from Tokyo Tower, and we walked back to the Hotel.     Title: What's a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Gion, Nijo Castle, and Ginkaku-ji The guests were visitors from North America. We started our walk from Gion, which was closest to their hotel. When I explained that Tatsumi Shrine in Gion Shirakawa enshrines a deity associated with the performing arts, one of the guests said they played the piano and offered a prayer. We walked for about an hour under the blazing sun, but partway through one of the guests said they were a little hungry, so we had lunch at "Kyomen" in front of the "Gion" bus stop. At Nijo Castle, the guests said they had both watched the TV drama "Shogun," and when I talked about Ieyasu, they became excited and said, "I know that person!" Since cleaning work was still being carried out in the Ninomaru Garden, we skipped the Ninomaru Garden. One of the guests collected goshuin stamps and received one each at Sanjusangendo and Ginkaku-ji. After exploring Sanjusangendo, they said they wanted to take a break, so we stopped at the Shichijo Kanshundo main shop to rest. Both of the guests were very interested in Japanese culture and history. One of them was very interested in speaking Japanese, frequently asking how to say things in Japanese and whether their Japanese pronunciation was correct. They were also familiar with the concept of "wabi-sabi," and when I explained that the garden at Ginkaku-ji is based on that concept, they gazed at it with deep appreciation. We parted ways in front of the taxi stand at Ginkaku-ji.

    Title: What's a Private Day Tour of Matsushima from Sendai Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests today were visitors who had come to Japan for a university science faculty seminar. When I mentioned that I had worked at the same university until March, we hit it off and they shared many stories with me. During the seminar, other professors had strongly recommended Matsushima, saying it was a wonderful place they should definitely visit. Until the day before, the guests had wished to see the city of Sendai, but the day before they asked if it would be alright to change the plan to Matsushima. So after meeting at the rescheduled meeting time, I asked once more whether they preferred Matsushima or Sendai, and since they answered Matsushima, we decided on Matsushima. I had sent an itinerary in advance, but I adjusted it flexibly on the spot as time allowed. On the train, the guests mentioned they had no cash on hand and were unsure what to do, so the first place I took them was a convenience store about a 15-minute walk from Matsushima-Kaigan Station. There are few convenience stores within the town of Matsushima, so arranging for cash can be difficult. Since Fukuurajima was the closest to the convenience store, we crossed over to Fukuurajima. As the guests were researchers, they seemed very interested. At the toll bridge, I showed my guide credentials as usual, and while there was a brief question about whether a guide qualified for the exemption, I signed my name and was allowed in free of charge. Recently, as the number of tourists in Matsushima has increased, some of the places that previously offered free entry with guide credentials seem to have changed their policies. The sightseeing boat was the same, offering a 10% discount for both me and the guests. When informing guests of costs in advance, it is a good idea to include the guide's portion in the estimate just in case. The guests had been looking forward to the sightseeing boat, and since they wanted to take photos from the Green seats on the second floor, they paid for the upgrade and we went up to the second floor. From time to time they stepped out onto the deck to enjoy the scenery and take photos. (I kept an eye on the luggage.) We passed along the approach to Zuiganji, and I asked whether they preferred Zuiganji or Entsuin, choosing Entsuin where photos could be taken. It had rained while we were on the sightseeing boat, so the guests remarked how beautiful the maple leaves looked, wet from the rain. I mentioned that they would likely see dry landscape gardens on their upcoming tour in Kyoto as well, and I passed this along to the Kyoto guide. The guests were mindful of their bullet train time, and when I heard it was 2:53, I noted that there was plenty of time, but since they needed to return to the hotel to collect their luggage, I took the timing into account. I told them they could get sandwiches to take out at a locally-sourced cafe in Sendai Station, and we parted ways at Sendai Station. Since this time the guests would also have guides from [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) at other locations (Kyoto and Tokyo), I was glad to pass along notes on dietary allergies and to make sure the places visited would not overlap too closely. As for photos, everyone was so absorbed in sightseeing that it was difficult to get a photo together. (Permission to publish was obtained.)

    What Is a Private Hakone Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Owakudani, Lake Ashi, and Hakone Shrine The guests were visitors from North America. When I created a celebratory board to welcome them, they were delighted. They had a strong interest in religion, culture, nature, and art — so much so that they were also visiting Mount Koya. They thoroughly enjoyed the natural scenery of Owakudani and Lake Ashi, and at the Hakone Checkpoint and Hakone Shrine, they connected with history and touched on Japanese religion. I also gave a simple explanation about Shinto, Buddhism, everyday Japanese life, and kanji, which they listened to with great interest. The guests were very sociable and enjoyed conversations with travelers from other countries at various points along the way. In the end, they said they would like to see the Hakone Open-Air Museum on their own, so I guided them to near the ticket booth and we parted ways. They mentioned they would return to their accommodation from Gora along the same route as the previous day.

    # What Is a Private Tokyo Sightseeing Tour Like for Guests After a Cruise? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. They shared that they had been together for 60 years, and they kindly showed photos of their lovely flower-filled residence and introduced their family, including their grandchildren. This was a Tokyo sightseeing tour before their return flight home from Narita, following an 18-day cruise departing from the west coast of North America. They mentioned having taken more than 55 cruises, but this was their first visit to Japan. Although they appeared healthy and did not seem their age, since the guests were quite advanced in years, I set fewer destinations than a usual tour and considerably slowed the walking pace. I made an effort to use elevators and escalators whenever possible, though due to the layout of the stations, there were unavoidable situations where we had to climb stairs. Even so, they were cooperative, saying it was "no problem." That said, since there was a comment that even the flat paths of Meiji Shrine involved quite a lot of walking, we took a rest with some tea at the Meiji Shrine cafe. As there was also a request to have lunch around 1:00, we visited the Imperial Palace before lunch. For lunch, although chopsticks were not used, they greatly enjoyed a Japanese set meal in the Shin-Marunouchi Building, saying, "It's delicious. Choosing this restaurant was a good decision." For the return, they requested to be taken to their hotel in Yokohama, and when we parted there, they did indeed seem quite tired.

    Title: What Is a Private Nikko Day Tour from Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America who love Japan and have visited many times. They understand a little Japanese as well. This time they had come to Japan to attend a friend's wedding, and aside from Tokyo, Nikko was their only destination. They had wanted to visit Nikko for many years, so I was especially motivated for this private tour. Although the guests enjoy Japan's nature, this time they wished to focus on history and culture. At their request, I guided them to Taiyuin, which I rarely visit. Compared with Toshogu Shrine, they seemed to appreciate its quiet and solemn atmosphere. Since the guests were interested in local food, I had wanted to introduce them to yuba (tofu skin) cuisine, but the restaurant I usually go to was closed that day, and the other options required a bit of a walk. It was very hot that day, so I decided to take them to a soba restaurant as close as possible. The dish came with yuba tempura, so I felt that worked out well. When I asked why they love Japan, they told me they had watched a lot of Japanese anime as children. They even knew quite old anime, so over lunch we had a lively conversation about classic Japanese anime and about the American cartoons and dramas I watched as a child. The guests know Japan very well, have even climbed Mount Fuji, and still have many places they want to visit. It made me sincerely want to help increase the number of Japan fans in this way.

    What Is a Private Tokyo Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a warm and intellectually curious group visiting from North America. As they are both very active and exercise regularly, we were able to comfortably cover the planned route despite the surprisingly hot midsummer weather in mid-September. On this day there was a baseball game featuring Japanese players competing against each other, which sparked a lively conversation and gave me the chance to talk in detail about current happenings in Japan.     Before becoming a tour guide, I worked for a major steelmaking company as an engineer for many years. During my career, I lived and worked in both Germany and the United States for a total of five years. These experiences helped me understand different cultures and ways of thinking, which now helps me connect easily with guests from around the world.

    After retirement, I chose a second career as a tour guide because I truly enjoy meeting people from different countries and sharing Japanese culture, history, and daily life. I have been working as a guide for more than nine years and continue to enjoy every tour.

    I currently live in Tokyo, but I was born and raised in Kobe, near Osaka, and my family roots are in Kyoto. As a result, I have extensive knowledge not only of Tokyo but also of Kyoto, Osaka, and many other parts of Japan. I enjoy introducing both famous landmarks and hidden local gems that many visitors might otherwise miss.

    I am energetic, friendly, and very sociable. I always try to create tours that are relaxed, flexible, and tailored to my guests’ interests.

    Private Guided Tour of Hiroshima and Miyajima: A Licensed Guide's Report on a First Visit to Japan The guests were visitors from Asia. This was their first visit to Japan, following the Golden Route plus Hiroshima. The day before, they had joined a food tour, visiting two establishments where they enjoyed a sake tasting and okonomiyaki. Today was another very hot day, with temperatures exceeding 30 degrees. Since the school trip season was about to begin, we first went to the Peace Memorial Museum. The guests viewed the exhibits very attentively, so we ended up staying for more than two hours. For the trip to Miyajima, we used the World Heritage Sea Route both ways. We took a little free time along the main approach street. The tour ended at the Peace Park pier.

    I was born and raised in Hiroshima. My first tour in English was as a volunteer guide for the visitors to my school when I was a junior high school student. It gave me a great opportunity to study about the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima.

    In Hiroshima, there are two famous World Heritage Sites, the Atomic Bomb Dome in the Hiroshima Peace Memorial & Itsukushima Shrine in Miyajima.
    I have experienced many tours of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum & Park since I was a junior high school student. I would like to introduce you to the a-bomb legacies that are still existing in the city and the stories under the mushroom cloud.
    I also would like to share time with you on a historic island, Miyajima. There is one of the most famous Shinto shrines, the Itsukushima Shrine. We can share an enjoyable time by exploring a sacred atmosphere, tradition, nature, food, etc.

    I am also an official ‘A-bomb legacy successor’ designated by the City of Hiroshima. An A-bomb Legacy Successor is a memory keeper of the A-bomb survivors. To ensure that the A-bomb survivors’ experiences and desires for peace are faithfully inherited and shared with as many people as possible, the City has started a three-year training program for official ‘A-bomb Legacy Successors. ‘
