Shizuoka: Nihondaira Ropeway & Verkehr Museum

    Tour Itinerary

    • 8:30 Meet @ Shimizu Port Hinode Wharf
    • 8:50 Nihondaira Ropeway (round trip)
    • Kunozan Toshogu Shrine
    • 10:40 Nihondaira Tea Hall
    • 11:10 Mihoshirube, Miho no Matsubara, Miho Shrine
    • 12:40 Lunch @ S-Pulse Dream Plaza
    • 13:50 Verkehr Museum
    • 14:30 Dismiss @ S-Pulse Dream Plaza

Title: What's a Private Shizuoka Day Tour from Shimizu Port Like for Cruise Passengers? A Licensed Guide's Report I guided guests who were traveling by cruise ship. Since they wished to visit Kunozan Toshogu Shrine, I changed the departure time to 8:30 in advance (to avoid the crowds at the ropeway). Because the taxi stand at Shimizu Port was not crowded at that time, we were able to board smoothly. The original plan was to charter a taxi for three hours and guide the guests along the route from Shimizu Port to Kunozan Toshogu Shrine, Miho no Matsubara, and back to Shimizu Port, adjusting the timing depending on how busy the sites were, but the guests changed it to a four-hour charter as they wanted to visit each place at a relaxed pace. Thanks to this, we were able to see each site slowly. Along the way, I learned that the guests were fond of green tea, so I used the extra time to guide them to a tea hall, which they enjoyed. The guests enjoyed the atmosphere of Kunozan Toshogu Shrine, which was different from the shrines they had visited in Tokyo. At first, the guests did not seem very interested in Miho no Matsubara, but when I guided them through the exhibits at Mihoshirube, they came to understand its history and cultural significance, and together with the beautiful scenery, they were very satisfied. Because the taxi was chartered for one hour longer than planned, I changed the afternoon itinerary and did not visit the planned "Sushi Museum" (I shared the relevant stories while they were enjoying sushi for lunch), guiding them only to the Fujimi Sea and Ship Museum (Verkehr Museum). The guests listened attentively to the exhibits at the Verkehr Museum as well. Since the guests wanted to shop at Uniqlo before returning to the cruise ship, I guided them to the store inside Esupals Dream Plaza and we parted ways there. Perhaps because I had explained in advance about the harsh lingering summer heat and the concern about heatstroke, the day before the tour I received a message that they might want to change the itinerary depending on the heat. I quickly prepared an alternative itinerary and headed to the meeting point, but the guests agreed to proceed with the planned itinerary and I guided them accordingly.

Hello, I’m Anne. I was born and raised in Shizuoka. As a student, I volunteered as an interpreter guide in Kyoto. I love traveling and even worked for a travel company in the past. I like learning different cultures, too. After graduating from a graduate school in Australia, I came back to Shizuoka and have been teaching at a high school and a university. I am also certified as a Japanese (language) teacher. Through my experiences living in different places and my interest in Japan, I realized again the charms of Japan and Shizuoka. This passion for sharing the attractions of Japan, especially Shizuoka, led me to become a national licensed guide interpreter in March 2024. Shizuoka is an attractive destination for its rich nature, fascinating history and culture, and delicious local foods. I would be delighted to help you discover more about Shizuoka and make your stay even more memorable!

What Can You See on a Private Day Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report on Odaiba and a Japanese Garden The guests were a cheerful group visiting from North America, and it was a lively tour filled with both English and Spanish. They struggled with the heat and humidity, but they had expressed a strong wish from the start to see the Gundam statue in Odaiba and a Japanese garden, so I carried out the entire schedule while keeping an eye on how everyone was feeling. With temperatures reaching 35 degrees, even I as the guide found it exhausting, and I was genuinely concerned about the guests' well-being. However, when we returned to the hotel, they were still smiling and told me it had been a "lovely day," which put me at ease. I believe this itinerary succeeded in bringing out the charm of Tokyo's contrasts.

Tokyo in 1 Day from Yokohama: Private Tour

    Tour Itinerary

    • 08:15-9:30. Travel to Shibuya
    • 09:30-10:00. Sightseeing at Shibuya Scramble Crossing and the Loyal Dog Hachiko statue
    • 10-30-12:15. Travel to Meiji Shrine, worship, and rest
    • 12:15-13:00. Travel to the Imperial Palace Nijubashi Bridge
    • 13:00-13:30 Sightseeing at Nijubashi Bridge, taking photos
    • 13:30-14:30. From Nijubashi Bridge, take a taxi to Shimbashi, then to Minato Mirai. Disband at the station

Title: What Is a Private Tokyo Tour to the Imperial Palace Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. A visit to the Imperial Palace had been requested, but since walking was difficult, I had considered several possible access routes. When we met, I explained that the Imperial Palace grounds cannot be viewed from inside, that access is not very convenient, and that it would be hot, but since the request for the Imperial Palace had been made, we conducted the tour heading north from Yokohama in the direction of Shibuya, Harajuku, and then the Imperial Palace. After finishing at the Nijubashi Bridge of the Imperial Palace, one of the guests said, "It's hot, so I'd like to go back to the hotel." Since they preferred to be accompanied rather than find the route back to the hotel on their own, I decided to see them off there. I had originally been thinking of continuing to Asakusa, but judging from the guests' condition, focusing on the western area and ending the tour a little early turned out to be a good thing. (Note: We used a taxi from Nijubashi to Shimbashi, paid for by the guests.)

Thank you for your entry in this tour. Nice to meet you in this mail.
Your tour guide Kappa is my nickname. Kappa is a traditional, imaginary creature who came into being in Japan over 300 years ago. She is good at swimming, like me, for I like swimming. I would like to make our tour operated smoothly as Kappa does when she swims in the river or pond. It is my pleasure to introduce many aspects in our tour, especially cooking, for it is my hobby and I went to the professional cooking and SAKE school, respectively. If you have any questions or requests about Japanese cooking, of course our tour, I am very delighted to answer to you anytime!

Title: What Is a Family-Friendly Private Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. They had already visited the Tohoku region and Hokkaido by cruise ship before arriving in Tokyo, and planned to spend about a week traveling to Kyoto and Osaka as well. Prioritizing a comfortable pace for the group, we enjoyed toy shopping at a store in Ginza. As we were about to head toward the Harajuku and Omotesando area, the group became hungry, so we made a last-minute stop for lunch at a long-established tempura restaurant. The dishes were served one at a time at the counter, and beyond the delicious seafood and vegetables, the guests were able to watch the tempura chef's movements up close and experience a part of Japanese culture.

What Is a Private Kyoto Walking Tour Like Using Public Transport? A Licensed Guide's Report All transportation was done by public transport, and with almost no waiting time, everything went very smoothly. The guests mentioned that it was too hot to have an appetite and skipped lunch, so we ended up with about an hour of extra time. The guests also appeared to be tired, but since Nijo Castle was the only place reachable by a single bus from Kinkaku-ji, I guided them there and showed only the Ninomaru Palace. Some of the guests seemed too tired to concentrate much, but another was very pleased with the explanation of Japanese history. In the end, the bamboo grove and Nijo Castle were mentioned as the favorites among the group. After returning home, I received a message from the guests saying, "We had dinner at the restaurant you recommended. It was very delicious. Thank you," which put me at ease.

Hi! My name is YUKA. I’ve got the government license in 2018 and joined a half year traning to do the guide. But a half year later I started my carreer, Covid came. I should have given up guiding. During the Covid, I’ve read many books and made my own materials to explain Japanese culture, history, etc. I love guiding because the guests expand my horizon all the time and let me know their own country and culture, etc. It is really important for us all to know each other and respect each other to make this world peace. Thank you for coming to Japan! Let’s enjoy Japan together!

Title: What's a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like for Overseas Guests? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan from North America. Before their Kyoto sightseeing, they had enjoyed the Disney parks in Tokyo and the theme park in Osaka. One of the guests walked very well throughout the tour. As for the itinerary, they requested the bamboo grove in Arashiyama and left the rest to me. For lunch, since one of the guests followed a plant-based diet, I guided them to a regular Japanese restaurant where they chose a tempura set meal; we asked to remove the shrimp tempura and add extra vegetable tempura, and there was also advice to avoid the chawanmushi and the tempura dipping sauce. Finally, we visited Nijo Castle, which was near their accommodation. The Hotel was visible, but before entering the castle I explained the way back, and after guiding them through the Ninomaru Palace and the Ninomaru Garden, we parted ways.

I am an experienced guide, who live in Osaka. I have been a Government-Licensed Guide in English since 2018. I have already guided a lot of tourists overseas in Kansai Area, that is, in the vicinity of my prefecture, Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Kobe, and Himeji. I am especially good at guiding in Kansai Area with sufficient knowledge of history, culture and transportation. I have guided people ranging from a small group of one or two to a group of 20-50 people in a big bus, that is, a coach. I like delicious food, because Osaka is a city of Kuidaorre, which means that people in Osaka love to eat and never spend too much money on food. Therefore, as an Osakan, I will do my best to explore restaurants which serve most delicious foods in wherever I take to my guests.

What Is a Private Kyoto Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Kinkaku-ji, Arashiyama, and Nishiki Market The guests came to Japan from North America. They enjoyed taking photos of each other during the tour. Both were particular about their photography and used a Japanese-made single-lens reflex camera, only occasionally taking pictures with a smartphone. At Kinkaku-ji we were caught in heavy rain and had to take shelter while sightseeing. Afterward the rain stopped, and it was even a bit hot in Arashiyama. At Nishiki Market, perhaps because they were thirsty, they had a little beer. They then bought some beautiful chopstick rests. After Nishiki Market, I guided them from Shinkyogoku to Kiyamachi and then to Pontocho. The northernmost part of Pontocho was right by the guests' Hotel, so I imagine they went for another stroll after the tour. The photo was taken in the bamboo grove at Tenryu-ji.

I was born and grew up in Kyoto and now live near Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto. I used to be a schoolteacher of English and welcome a lot of students from foreign countries. I really enjoyed showing them around Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Himeji, and Hiroshima. I have been a professional tour guide for about 8 years. I always try to let my guests learn Japanese traditional and modern culture. Since I was born in Kyoto, I know a lot about its culture and people. I myself enjoyed several sports, such as soccer, judo, and marathon when I was young. I’m much interested in baseball and sumo. My motto as a tour guide is to let my guests learn about our tradition and culture precisely and really enjoy themselves. I strongly hope you will enjoy the tour in Japan with me.

What's a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Tsukiji, Meiji Shrine, Shibuya, and Asakusa The guests were a group visiting from North America. One of the guests had planned the day in great detail, and on the day I was asked to escort the group to the location of a sumo-viewing event in Asakusa. At Tsukiji, the guests tried and thoroughly enjoyed almost everything I introduced, except for the raw items. At Meiji Shrine, we happened to come across a wedding photo shoot, which some of the guests were especially delighted to see. We were fortunate to get a same-day lunch reservation in Shibuya, where the guests relaxed in a small raised tatami seating area with a sunken kotatsu, enjoying the atmosphere along with a Japanese set meal and beer. Asakusa was a bit rushed, but I introduced some shops to visit after the sumo event, and we arrived at the sumo venue five minutes early. Everyone seemed very satisfied.

In advance they had requested the Tokyo highlights, and there were no special requests afterward, so at the meeting we confirmed the itinerary and started the tour. Meiji Shrine was of course a highlight, but surprisingly Takeshita Street in Harajuku was also a favorite (they said they would return to Harajuku again). At Tsukiji they were very satisfied with sushi and tempura at a recommended restaurant, and enjoyed ice cream as well. Since we made good progress and the weather was cloudy with temperatures not rising much, I guided them to the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace rather than the main gate and Nijubashi Bridge. They loved the Japanese garden very much. In Akihabara we strolled through the figure shop on the 2nd floor of the Radio Kaikan building and along Chuo-dori, then headed to the Kappabashi shopping street. I showed them a recommended knife shop, pottery shops, and chopstick shops, and they did some moderate shopping (they said they would revisit here as well another day). Although they must have been tired, I guided them to the main hall of Senso-ji Temple and the Nakamise shopping street at the end, then at Asakusa Station explained the train route back to the Hotel and the route for visiting TeamLab Borderless the next day, and we parted ways on the platform of Asakusa Station. Everyone was so healthy that their walking pace never slowed down until the very end. They were very familiar with Japan, full of curiosity, spoke a lot about their home region, experienced, and gentle in manner — four wonderful guests.

Hi! I’m a local guide in Tokyo and have been working as a licensed tour guide for almost 10 years. I love helping guests discover the “real Japan” beyond the guidebooks. I enjoy showing guests both famous sights and places that many tourists miss. My tours are based on your interests and can include not only famous sightseeing spots, but also local neighborhoods, culture, history, and everyday life in Japan. I also help guests enjoy Japanese cultural activities and make communication easier. If you’d like vegan or gluten-free meals, let me help you find suitable restaurants in Tokyo. If you have any food allergies or dietary restrictions, please feel free to let me know in advance. I look forward to showing you around Tokyo!

What Is a Private Day Trip from Tokyo to Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. The guests got along very well. Since one of the guests seemed to have some difficulty walking, I was careful to plan the tour so as not to tire them out. We covered all the destinations that the guests had chosen, but as we ran short on time, the tour was extended by one hour, and the guests paid an additional taxi fare. It was a day-trip itinerary from Tokyo, and since the guests wanted to have a meal before taking the 18:16 bullet train back to Tokyo, I guided them to the food hall on the B1 floor of the Kyoto Tower building. I also let them know that if there was time to spare, they could go up Kyoto Tower.

I’m Ryoichi Kazuma and my nickname is “Kazz”. I live in Kyotanabe city next to Kyoto city. I want guests to enjoy Kyoto by seeing and experiencing not only from outside but also from inside. I offer various information from daily matters to traditional cultures. Most destinations in Kyoto are located on the eastern side or the western side. As I want to guide guests to as many destinations as possible, I make an efficient itinerary and recommend a taxi use to save time. Additionally, I take pictures at various spots and finally share the link to my storage. By doing so, guests can download their favorite pictures from my storage. Please enjoy Kyoto night and day!
