Title: What's a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Fushimi Inari, Arashiyama, and Kinkaku-ji
The guests were visitors from North America. We began at Fushimi Inari Taisha, where they enjoyed the Thousand Torii Gates, and then moved on to Tenryu-ji Temple and the Bamboo Grove in Arashiyama. Some of the guests had been especially looking forward to the bamboo grove, and were delighted to see the scenery in person. For lunch, we enjoyed hitsumabushi at a wagyu restaurant in Arashiyama. At Kinkaku-ji, the guests took in the beautiful garden and appreciated the traditional and natural beauty of Kyoto. The guests enjoyed conversation, and their fast-paced English was excellent listening practice for me, making it a very rewarding day.

Andy(Atsushi) was great and communicated with us beforehand about our itinerary. He was flexible with changes we requested. Andy was very informative during the tour. He also was willing to take our family’s pictures. We were able to stop and check out shops as we pleased along the way. He also accommodated lunch requests(as our daughter has food allergies).
One thing I wish we realized was that there is quite a bit of walking. We were fine but for people who are perhaps older or with young children you may want to consider taking a cab between different sites.
