At Nezu Shrine, the guests listened with great interest to explanations about the differences between shrines and temples. Along Kappabashi Street, the guests purchased cooking knives and related items. At Sensoji Temple, the guests showed interest in the souvenir shops along Nakamise Street. For lunch, the guests enjoyed tonkatsu. At Hie Shrine, the guests were fascinated by the path lined with red torii gates. On Takeshita Street, the guests enjoyed shopping.     What Is a Private Hakone Day Tour Like for Mount Fuji Views? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America who found Japan's lush greenery and nature both unusual and wonderful, expressing frequent admiration. Mount Fuji, which they had been looking forward to, could not be seen from Owakudani, which was a slight disappointment, but it began to come into view a little from Hakone-machi Port, so I changed the route. I asked them to save the Hakone Open-Air Museum for the next day and decided to focus on the Lake Ashi area in hopes of seeing Mount Fuji. Although it was not a full panorama, it could be seen from various spots such as the Hakone Checkpoint, Onshi Park, and the shores of Lake Ashi, and the guests enjoyed it. They also enjoyed feeding the wild carp that gather along the shores of Lake Ashi, as well as the old cedar avenue and other scenery not found in their home region.     What Is a Full-Day Private Tour of Tokyo Like for First-Time Visitors? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Oceania, and it was their first time in Japan. They arrived at Narita Airport the previous evening and transferred via the Narita Express to their hotel. They mentioned that their arrival had been significantly delayed due to a typhoon. They planned to stay in Japan for about two weeks. After Tokyo, they intended to travel to Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, and Hiroshima before returning to Tokyo and heading home. One of the guests requested, "Please walk slowly, as walking is a bit difficult for me." Another commented, "It is winter now where we come from, so the heat and humidity in Tokyo are quite overwhelming." Amid the intense heat, we took many breaks throughout the tour. Before departing, the guests requested, "We did not exchange our Suica cards at the airport, so we would like to buy one first," and "We would also like to reserve JR Shinkansen tickets to Osaka and other destinations first," so we went to the station travel concierge. First, we visited the Tsukiji Outer Market. Although it was a market holiday, it was as crowded as usual. I explained about "Tsukiji Hongwanji Temple," "the history of Tsukiji Market," and "the difference from Toyosu Market." The guests asked, "Why are there so many people here? Is it always like this?" and commented, "There is a fish market where we come from, but it is not nearly this large." We then moved to Asakusa. I explained "an overview of Japanese history," "Senso-ji Temple and the history from Edo to Tokyo," and "the difference between Buddhism and Shinto." The guests asked questions such as, "What kind of religion and teaching is Buddhism?" "Do all Japanese people follow Buddhism?" and "What is the purpose of the five-story pagoda?" We returned to Ueno Station, where we rested and had a light meal in the station. The guests expressed a wish to "see an old Japanese townscape," so we went to Yanaka and Nezu. At Yanaka Ginza, one guest commented, "For some reason, I really like shopping streets like this." At Nezu Shrine, the group slowly passed through the torii gates and took many commemorative photos. Afterward, we moved to the Imperial Palace and walked around the East Gardens, though part of the group rested at a rest area during this time. I explained "the history of the move from Edo to Tokyo," "the Meiji Restoration," and "the current Imperial Household." There were also questions such as, "Does the Emperor really live inside here?" The guests also commented, "The whole city is clean, with no litter on the streets," and "The public restrooms are clean and pleasant." Due to fatigue from the night before, the guests said they wished to return to their hotel, so I saw them off from Tokyo Station to Shinjuku Station, where we parted ways.

    In the past, I was stationed in Canada, the United States, and Mexico as an expatriate of a Japanese bank for over 11 years.
    Since I have been mainly involved in the financing business in the United States for a long time, I think I am able to provide interpretation and translation services related to business and finance.
    I am a certified CPA in the United States.
    In addition, for three years from April 2016, I will be engaged in Japanese-English translation work (part-time), and I can also handle translation work.
    Although I don’t have a qualification in Spanish, but I think I can handle day to day conversation in Spanish without any problems.

    What Is a Private Guided Tour of Fukuoka's Nanzoin Temple Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors who have come to Japan many times before. On this trip, they planned to continue afterward to Mount Aso and Yufuin. They wanted to purchase dried bamboo shoots but did not know where they were sold, so I took them to a small local products hall, and luckily they had some in stock. Nanzoin Temple in Kido is undergoing repair work until mid-December, so the Reclining Buddha statue cannot be seen very well, but we visited after obtaining their understanding. There are attractions beyond the Reclining Buddha as well, so the guests were satisfied with the visit.

    What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Arashiyama, Kinkaku-ji, and Nijo Castle The guests were visitors from North America. One of them enjoyed taking photographs quietly and alone with a single-lens reflex camera at times. The other was very curious, fond of animals, and talkative. The Arashiyama bamboo grove was relatively uncrowded, making it easy to sightsee. At the Monkey Park, our visit coincided with the feeding time led by the keepers, and the guests enjoyed the lively scene of the active Japanese macaques. During our stroll around Kinkaku-ji, there was little wind and the sky was clear, so the Golden Pavilion reflected on the Kyoko-chi pond was exceptionally beautiful. The guests had recently started watching the TV series "Shogun," and when I explained that Nijo Castle was built by Tokugawa Ieyasu, who is the model for the main character Toranaga, they became very interested and explored the site with great enthusiasm. Both were very friendly and smiled and enjoyed themselves from start to finish.

They had arrived at Narita Airport the previous evening and taken a taxi to their accommodation. They planned to stay in Japan for a while, spending several days in Tokyo before traveling on to Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Hiroshima, and Hida-Takayama, then returning to Tokyo before heading home. They shared their impression: "It's hot and humid where we're from too. We'd heard Tokyo would be just as hot, but today it's cool and pleasant." In a complete change from the previous days, the weather was cool enough that the tour proceeded comfortably with several rest breaks. First, we headed to the Tsukiji Outer Market. Although it was a market holiday, it was as crowded as ever. I explained about Tsukiji Hongwanji Temple, the history of Tsukiji Market, and the differences from Toyosu Market. The guests asked and commented: "Why are there so many people here? Is it always like this?" "It seems like there are a lot of tourists." "Do people in Tokyo all come here to buy fish?" They sampled grilled king crab and shrimp with salt (one of the guests loves sushi, while another is not fond of raw fish). From here we walked to Hamarikyu Gardens. We strolled around the grounds, and I explained the history of Edo and Tokyo and the history of Hamarikyu Gardens. The guests commented: "Surrounded by modern buildings, it's like Central Park in New York." "One of us enjoys bonsai as a hobby, and this Japanese garden is wonderful." We took the train from Shiodome Station to Tochomae Station and went up to the South Observatory of the Metropolitan Government Building. The guests said, "We could see it from the plane too, and now we really understand how vast Tokyo is." Unfortunately, Mount Fuji was not visible. Looking at the Park Hyatt Hotel, they remarked, "It reminds us of Lost in Translation." We moved on to Harajuku. At Meiji Shrine, I explained the history of Edo and Tokyo, the Meiji Restoration, and the differences between Shinto and Buddhism. We took a break at Forest Terrace, where they bought and tried grilled rice cakes. After this, we strolled along Takeshita Street, Cat Street, and Omotesando. They seemed to particularly enjoy the vintage clothing shops on Cat Street. We then moved to Shibuya, crossed the Scramble Crossing, and took a commemorative photo in front of the Hachiko statue.     Title: What's a Private One-Day Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Since only the meeting place and time had been communicated through the agency beforehand, after meeting the guests I asked which places they had already visited and discussed the itinerary before setting off. Because they wanted to review the route for their trip to Takayama the following day, I explained how to take the train at Shinjuku Station before heading to Tsukiji. At Tsukiji, the guests were delighted to see the fresh seafood. At the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, they were interested in the Japanese garden, the long-finned nishikigoi carp, and the crape myrtle flowers that were blooming beautifully. They wanted to have sushi for lunch, but there was no sushi restaurant at the hotel in Otemachi, and the seafood restaurant was either closed or reserved, so we had an Italian lunch instead. Afterwards, we viewed the Skytree from Ryogoku Bridge, and at Asakusa, which had been their top choice of places to visit, the guests took many photos and were delighted to see the nishikigoi carp.

    Title: What's a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like? Odaiba, Asakusa, and Meiji Shrine — A Licensed Guide's Report I had previously met one of the guests during a sumo viewing tour organized by another company on the 19th, which had 25 participants. By coincidence, I was also assigned to them through [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/), and we were delighted to reunite at the hotel meeting point. Since the guest was traveling solo, we walked around Odaiba, Asakusa, and the area near Meiji Shrine. It was a very pleasant day, with the summer heat having eased, and at Odaiba the guest enjoyed the refreshing sea breeze and took many photos. Although they had said lunch was not needed, they ended up having a yakitori set meal at Azuma. It was only when we met that I learned about a health matter, and when I mentioned that I wished they had told me their dietary preferences, they said it was fine, which reassured me. In Asakusa the guest bought a high-quality leather wallet made of Inden, and at Meiji Shrine happily purchased a good-luck charm. Since this was a solo trip and I had been keeping an eye on the guest since the sumo tour, seeing their cheerful smile put me at ease.

About two weeks earlier they had arrived at Kansai Airport and toured Kyoto, Osaka, and Nara, arriving in Tokyo the previous evening. They planned to stay in Tokyo for one week before returning home. Everyone seemed a little tired, and they requested a tour focused mainly on places the group would enjoy. In the intense summer heat, we made the tour with frequent breaks. Since it was early morning, we first went to the Tsukiji Outer Market. I explained the history of Tsukiji Market and the differences between it and Toyosu Market. The guests asked, "Why are there so many people here? Is it always this crowded?" The group said they were big fans of sushi. After that, we went to Odaiba. We took commemorative photos in front of the Statue of Liberty and the Gundam statue, and they bought some Gundam goods. They also purchased sneakers at DiverCity. They mentioned, "We plan to visit teamLab tomorrow, so we would like to stop by here again on the way back." From there we moved to the Akihabara Electric Town. We strolled through various shops, and they bought some LEGO products, remarking that they had never seen a shopping district like this back home. We took a break at a café. We moved on to Shibuya, crossed the Scramble Crossing, and took commemorative photos in front of the Hachiko statue. The guests asked, "Is it always this crowded?" and "Why do so many people gather here?" We visited the Pokémon Center and the Nintendo store inside Shibuya PARCO, where they bought many Pokémon goods. [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) is one of Japan's largest networks of government-licensed, English-speaking private tour guides, serving all 47 prefectures. In their own words, they were "traveling with backpacks." The guests were on a three-week holiday. They first spent two weeks in Asia, then arrived at Haneda, and planned to stay in Tokyo for one week before continuing to Europe. The day before, they had taken a day trip to Kyoto. This evening, they had a reservation at Tokyo Skytree. Their request was: "We are fine with spending only a short time at each spot, so we would like to visit as many places as possible." In the intense summer heat, the tour became a rather demanding, fast-paced itinerary. First, we went to the Tsukiji Outer Market. I explained "the history of Tsukiji Market" and "the differences from Toyosu Market." The guests asked, "Why are there so many people here? Is it always like this?" After that, we went to Asakusa. I explained "Sensoji Temple and the history from Edo to Tokyo" as well as "the differences between Buddhism and Shinto." They asked questions such as, "Is Buddhism in Asia different from Buddhism in Japan?" and "Do all Japanese people believe in Buddhism?" Next, we moved to the Imperial Palace. The East Gardens were closed that day. I explained "the history of the shift from Edo to Tokyo," "the Meiji Restoration," and "the current Imperial family." They asked, "Does the Emperor really live inside here?" They also asked, "Was Tokyo damaged during World War II? In their home region, many cities were bombed and destroyed." After this, we moved to Hibiya and Ginza, strolling through department stores and other spots (added to the original plan). The guests commented, "The streets are clean, with no litter on the ground," "The public restrooms are clean and pleasant, completely different from home," and "The subway is clean, quiet, and comfortable, with good air conditioning." They also commented and asked, "We don't see any homeless people. In our home region, homelessness has been increasing rapidly in many places and has become a problem," and "There are no trash cans on the streets. Why is that?"
