What Is a Private Miyajima and Hiroshima Peace Park Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Oceania on a family trip. They were very cheerful and seemed happy throughout the day. At Miyajima, they enjoyed interacting with the deer and touching the stone statues. I also guided them to the tourist information center on Miyajima, where there is a water server that provides free drinking water to refill bottles. The guests were carrying a total of seven water bottles, so they were delighted to be able to refill them for free. Since all of the guests had Suica cards, we were able to make transfers and get around quite smoothly, even amid the large crowds during the three-day holiday weekend. As is always the case, the smiles faded after viewing the Peace Memorial Museum at the Peace Park.

Title: Can You Do a Private Day Trip from Osaka to Kyoto by Cruise? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan by cruise ship from North America. Regarding the planning of the itinerary in Kyoto, prior communication was handled with the leader of the group. The cruise ship stayed in Osaka for two days; on the first day the guests completed sightseeing within Osaka city, and the tour I was in charge of was "Depart from Osaka ⇒ Sightseeing in Kyoto ⇒ Arrive in Osaka." This course was scheduled for eight hours, but since the round trip between Osaka and Kyoto alone takes more than two hours, actual sightseeing time in Kyoto was expected to be about five hours and thirty minutes. However, since we traveled by private vehicle, transfers could be made smoothly as long as traffic conditions were not bad, so I accommodated the guests' wishes as much as possible, and the initial plan became a bit full: "Arashiyama (Bamboo Grove, Tenryu-ji, Togetsukyo Bridge) ⇒ Kinkaku-ji ⇒ Nishiki Market and lunch ⇒ Gion ⇒ Fushimi Inari." On the day, although the sun came out at times, the weather was mostly cloudy throughout the day, and compared with an earlier period, it was a tour under more comfortable conditions. I arrived at Tempozan in Osaka thirty minutes early, and five minutes later the private vehicle arrived, and I confirmed the outline of the itinerary with the driver. After that, as soon as I held up the welcome board in front of the cruise terminal building, the guests appeared and we met up. As soon as we exchanged greetings, they boarded the private vehicle, and it was a very smooth start. Since it was more than an hour until we reached Arashiyama in Kyoto, in the car, in addition to introducing the driver and giving my own self-introduction as the guide, I asked the guests to introduce themselves as well. Thanks to these self-introductions, we came to understand each other well, and I was able to start the tour in a very open and friendly atmosphere, including talk about families. In the car, of course, I took my time explaining the overall flow of the tour, the characteristics of the places we would visit, the history and features of Japanese religions (Shinto and Buddhism), and Japanese history (especially the ancient, medieval, and early modern periods). Some of the guests had studied a great deal before visiting Japan, and questions came up very actively, so I answered each one carefully and helped them learn the basics. After arriving in Kyoto, I made full use of the advantages of the private vehicle and proceeded as efficiently as possible while consulting with the driver. This was because, as I only learned once we started sightseeing in Kyoto, some of the guests could only walk very slowly. For that reason, since "Nishiki Market," which had been planned initially, was expected to be crowded, at the guests' request we canceled it and proceeded with the rest of the sightseeing at a relaxed pace. Also, the final destination, "Fushimi Inari," has many stairs, which was difficult for some of the guests, so we finished after visiting up to the main shrine. It was a long eight-hour tour, and toward the end the guests looked tired, so on the way back to Tempozan in Osaka I refrained from giving explanations in the car, but the guests did not sleep and the conversation continued without pause. I was a little tired as well, but I was able to provide a very pleasant guiding experience.

Title: What Is an Early-Morning Private Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guest was a visitor from Asia. Although the tour started early in the morning, this actually made it easier to get around before it became hot. We visited Gion, Fushimi Inari, Nijo Castle, Kinkaku-ji, and the Kyoto Imperial Palace. The guest especially liked Nijo Castle, followed by Kinkaku-ji. The guest mentioned that opportunities to go inside the buildings at such sightseeing spots are rare where they are from, so being able to see the interior of Nijo Castle was greatly appreciated. I hope that in summer, these sightseeing facilities might open earlier so visitors can tour them before it gets hot.

Title: What Is a Private Walking Tour of Kyoto's Fushimi Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan for the first time from Oceania. When discussing the course, they said they did not want shrines or temples and simply wanted to walk around a lot, so although it was not among the options, I suggested Fushimi and they agreed. They wanted to ride the Jikkokubune boat, so I asked at the reception desk. Since I was told that the guide would also be charged a fare, I had intended to wait without boarding, but as there were few passengers, they let me ride for free in exchange for interpreting. Some of the guests worked as mechanical engineers and were excited about the structure of the lock gates, and the yakitori at lunch was also well received. At the end, they gave me a firm handshake. Overall, I believe they were satisfied.

What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like from Kyoto Station? A Licensed Guide's Report [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guides led a private one-day tour of Kyoto for a group visiting from Europe who had already been traveling in Japan for about two weeks before arriving in Kyoto. The departure was originally scheduled for 10:00 but was moved up to 9:00, and we began by visiting Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine. The guests were deeply impressed by the sight of the red torii gates spreading across the entire Inari mountain, and they took many photographs. At Sanjusangendo, they were also moved by the 1,001 Buddhist statues and the strikingly lifelike statues of the 28 guardian deities. At Nijo Castle, our conversation turned to William Adams, who served the Tokugawa shogunate, and we discussed the historical background of that era. As we had walked quite a long distance, the guests appeared rather tired, but in search of a delicious beer, we parted ways at Kyoto Station.

At the Peace Memorial Museum, they spent a great deal of time in the section on the history of nuclear development, taking many photographs. At the Hiroshima Summit Memorial Hall, which opened this spring next to the museum as a temporary building set to remain until the next summit is held in Japan six years from now, they searched for the message left by their region's leader who had attended as an invited participant, but were disappointed to find it was not on display. In the continuing intense heat, the guests seemed to relax somewhat on Miyajima while enjoying the scent of the sea.

Title: What Is a Private Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Toyosu Market, Tsukiji, Kappabashi, and Shibuya The guests came from North America. One member had visited Japan several times before (the most recent visit being seven years earlier), while the others were visiting Japan for the first time. The main purpose of this trip was a one-week journey to Hokkaido. They had arrived at Haneda Airport the previous night. They mentioned that clearing customs took more than two hours. They then made their way to the hotel by transferring between the Tokyo Monorail and other lines. The tour took place in light rain. First, we went to Toyosu Market. The whole group said they loved sushi and sashimi. In the seafood wholesale building, we watched a video of the "tuna auction." They asked questions such as, "How much tuna is put up for auction?" "What is the price per fish?" and "What kind of tuna is expensive?" They also asked, "Which part of the tuna is the most delicious?" In the intermediate wholesalers' building, most of the shops had already closed, but they asked, "Why aren't we allowed inside?" and "Why do they sell vegetables and not just fish?" After that, we transferred between the Yurikamome and other lines to reach the Tsukiji Outer Market. At the Tsukiji Outer Market, there had been a prior request for a sushi lunch, so we had lunch at the counter of a sushi restaurant in Tsukiji (they said the squid and the flounder fin were delicious). Afterward, we strolled through the market. They also asked, "Why are there so many people here? Is it always this crowded?" There was a strong request: "We really want to buy kitchen knives at Kappabashi," so we then went to Kappabashi Kitchen Town. They purchased two knives they had been looking for. After that, they requested, "Please take us to Shibuya," so we went to Shibuya. They commented, "The streets are so clean. There's no litter." "The public restrooms are clean and pleasant." Title: What's a Full-Day Private Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, Akihabara, and Shibuya The guests were a group visiting Japan for the first time from Oceania. This was also their first trip to the Asia region. They had arrived at Narita Airport the previous night via a connecting flight and taken the Narita Express to Shinjuku. They planned to stay in Japan for a couple of weeks, spending several days in Tokyo before continuing to Kyoto, Nara, and Osaka, and departing from Kansai Airport. They requested visits to Akihabara and Takeshita Street. The weather was quite hot, so the tour included several breaks. First, since they wanted to buy SUICA cards (their arrival the previous night had been delayed and they had not been able to purchase them at the airport), we went to the travel concierge counter at the east exit of Shinjuku Station. We started at Asakusa. I explained "Sensoji Temple and the history of Tokyo from the Edo period" and "the difference between Buddhism and Shinto." There were questions such as "What kind of religion and teachings are in Buddhism?" and "Do all Japanese people believe in Buddhism?" We then moved to Akihabara. We walked around the electronics district, and they purchased character goods and also bought and tasted a candied strawberry from a street stall. Next we went to the Imperial Palace. I explained "the history of the move from Edo to Tokyo," "the Meiji Restoration," and "the current Imperial family." There were also questions such as "Does the Emperor really live inside here?" and "Who was the Emperor at that time?" As the guests seemed a little tired, we rested for a while at a rest area. From there, we moved to Harajuku. At Meiji Shrine, I explained "about the torii gate" and "the history and philosophy of Shinto." We took a break at Forest Terrace Meiji Jingu. They said, "It's wonderful that there is such a green place in the center of the city." After that, we moved to Shibuya, crossed the Scramble Crossing, and took commemorative photos in front of the Hachiko statue. There was a question: "Why do so many people gather here?" There were also comments such as "The city is so clean. There is no litter on the ground," "The public restrooms are clean and pleasant," and "The subway is quiet and clean." Since they were not sure how to get back to the hotel, I saw them off at Kyobashi Station and we parted ways.

Can You Do a Private One-Day Sightseeing Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report on Tsukiji, Asakusa, and Ginza The guests were a group visiting Japan from Oceania, all visiting Japan for the first time. They arrived at Haneda Airport the previous night via Singapore and took a taxi to their hotel. They mentioned that they had enjoyed Japanese cuisine within their hotel that evening. They planned to stay in Japan for two weeks. They would spend some time in Tokyo, then travel to Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, and Naoshima, before returning to Tokyo and heading home. The group mentioned that they had asked people who had traveled to Japan before for recommendations on places to visit. They planned to go out to Shinjuku Golden Gai that evening. In quite hot weather, the tour included many rest breaks. We first visited the Tsukiji Uogashi and the Tsukiji Outer Market. I explained about "Tsukiji Hongwanji Temple," "the history of Tsukiji Market," and "the difference from Toyosu Market." There were questions and comments such as "Why are there so many people here? Is it always like this?" and "It seems like there are a lot of tourists." We purchased and sampled "tuna sashimi" and "grilled salt shrimp." We moved on to Asakusa. The group was surprised by the crowds along the Nakamise shopping street. I explained about "Sensoji Temple and the history from Edo to Tokyo" and "the difference between Buddhism and Shinto." There were questions such as "Do all Japanese people believe in Buddhism?" We moved on to the Imperial Palace. I explained about "the Edo period," "the Meiji Restoration," "the current Imperial Family," and "Gyoko-dori Avenue." There were also questions such as "Does the Emperor really live in here?" and "Can you not go inside the Imperial Palace?" As the guests wanted to take a short break, we went to Tokyo Midtown Hibiya. Everyone ordered whatever they liked at the FOOD HALL for lunch. From there, we walked to Ginza. The group was impressed by the basement food floor of Ginza Mitsukoshi, saying, "We've heard that Shinjuku Isetan is also wonderful, so we'd love to go there too." There were also comments such as "The whole city is so clean. There's no litter anywhere." "The public toilets are clean and pleasant." "The subway is quiet and clean." and "Why are there no trash cans on the streets?" As the guests wanted to be taken back to their hotel, I saw them off at Toranomon Hills Station, where we parted ways.

What Is a Relaxed Private One-Day Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, Shibuya, and More The guests had a relaxed schedule planned, as they would be visiting an amusement park the following day. I had planned to show them the older side of Tokyo, including Asakusa and Shibuya, but since they were dealing with jet lag, I arranged a leisurely itinerary. Because one of the guests had an interest in food and cooking, we decided to visit Kappabashi, and afterward we stopped by Akihabara. They seemed intrigued by the crane machine toys there. Although the weather was rainy and unsettled, I believe the rows of pine trees at the Imperial Palace and the greenery of Meiji Shrine helped ease the fatigue of their long journey.
