Tour Itinerary
- 8:30: Meet up at JR Nikko Station ➡ 8:42-9:20: Travel to Akechidaira by bus ➡ 9:20-10-20 Sightseeing at Akechidaira ➡ Travel to Chuzenji Onsen ➡ 10:20-10:50 Walk/take photos along Lake Chuzenji ➡ 10:50-11:00 Travel from Chuzenji to Kegon Falls ➡ 11:00-11:30 Sightseeing at Kegon Falls ➡ Lunch @ Nantai Restaurant ➡ 12:55-13:40 Travel by bus to the Nishisando entrance ➡ 13:40-13:50 Walk to Toshogu Shrine ➡ 13:50-15:20 Sightseeing at Toshogu Shrine ➡ 15:20-15:30 View Rinnoji Sanbutsudo from the outside (it was supposed to be open until 17:00 but it was closed) ➡ 15:30-15:45 Walk to Shinkyo Bridge ➡ Sightseeing at Shinkyo Bridge ➡ 16:00-16:20 Walk to Tobu Nikko Station, then disband
Title: What Is a Private Guided Day Tour of Nikko Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were very talkative and rarely stayed quiet. They brought up a wide range of topics, not only about Nikko but also about their personal life and about their work. Toward the end of the tour, my mind was tired from speaking English and I sometimes struggled to express myself well, but the guests were very perceptive and often understood before I finished, which was a great help. They asked me many questions about the upcoming highlights, meals, and other things in Kyoto and Osaka. Since I grew up in Osaka and often visited Kyoto as well because of family ties to the area, I shared everything I knew, and they were grateful. I only hope that the information I passed on will make their journey even more enjoyable and fulfilling. The guests were very energetic. The one disappointment was that we were unable to enter the Sanbutsudo hall of Rinnoji Temple, which was the last stop on our plan. Viewing was supposed to be available until 17:00, but for some reason the visiting hours seemed to have ended early. The guests understood the situation, which was a relief.

When I was a company employee, I lived abroad for 5 years in Los Angeles, 11 and a half years in Washington D.C. and 2 and half years in Brussels. Despite 19 year long stay abroad, I remain charmed by Japanese things, such as culture, custom, spirit, martial art etc. I am glad if I can be of help you understand Japan as well as Nikko through my guide. I am interested in Japanese martial arts: I own the third grade in Japanese archery, known as Kyudo and I have passed a certification examination (1st grade) for Sumo wrestling conducted by the Japanese Sumo Promoting Association.

Ichiro was an awesome tour guide and made our trip to Nikko a super memorable one! He was extremely knowledge in the history of the city and was amazing. We were also late coming from Tokyo due to losing our suica card and ichiro accommodated us immensely. Highly recommended and an amazing person to have as your guide!

Ichi made our trip to Nikko very memorable. He was veery knowledgeable about all aspects of Nico and divided our trip up into nature and temples. Very organized and had a plan to maximize our time. He was very personable and made our one day in Nikko very very special.

A Great day with Ichi
Our day in Nikko with Ichi was truly the highlight of our trip to Japan. He was absolutely amazing from start to finish ? friendly, knowledgeable, kind, and a real pleasure to spend the day with. He made the whole experience so special and memorable, sharing fascinating insights and helping us appreciate Nikko even more. We also had a great lunch together and a lovely coffee in the afternoon, which made the day feel even more personal and enjoyable. Thanks to Ichi, this was not just a tour, but one of the most beautiful memories of our trip. We couldn’t recommend him more highly.
