What Can You See on a Private Kyoto Walking Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report on Fushimi Inari, Arashiyama, and Tenryu-ji The guests were visitors from Oceania. On a clear, sunny day, it turned out to be an ideal walking tour. I took them to Fushimi Inari Taisha, the Arashiyama Monkey Park, the Togetsukyo Bridge, Tenryu-ji Temple, and the bamboo grove. What they liked best was the Sogenchi Garden at Tenryu-ji. They listened very attentively to my explanations, and I also offered suggestions for the places they would visit the next day. The tour proceeded without any particular problems, and I believe the guests enjoyed it.

What Is a Private Nikko Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. They both listened very attentively to my explanations and asked many questions, which made our conversation very lively. In Nikko, two shrines and one temple are registered as World Heritage sites, and in order to explain the relationship among these two shrines and one temple, I had to begin with an explanation of Shinto and Buddhism. Through this, I renewed my awareness that for guiding in Nikko it is essential to be able to give a convincing explanation of the Japanese view of religion, as well as of Shinto and Buddhism. Also, when the guests asked what they should do the next day, I recommended Nikko Edomura.

Title: What's a Private Himeji and Kobe Tour with a Car Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Today's guests were a group visiting from North America, one of whom was visiting Japan for the first time while another had visited Japan several times before. The tour was named the "Kobe Tour with Vehicle," but at the strong request of the guests, it was carried out as an extended tour combining both Himeji and Kobe. First, we met at the guests' Hotel, and our first destination was Himeji Castle. When one of the guests learned that the main keep of Himeji Castle has seven floors, they decided not to enter it and waited in the Nishinomaru (West Bailey) area instead. For this reason, I guided the other guest alone through the main keep and the smaller keeps, then reunited with the waiting guest at the Nishinomaru before heading to our next destination, Mount Rokko. At Mount Rokko, we went to Tenrandai after having a meal, but one of the guests again chose to wait rather than climb the stairs. I was told that today's tour route had been decided mainly by referring to the opinions of friends. After Mount Rokko, we headed to the Kobe Nunobiki Herb Gardens. On the way, the guests mentioned, "We're going sightseeing in Kyoto tomorrow, but we're not sure how to get to our hotel in Kyoto." So we stopped by Shin-Kobe Station to purchase Shinkansen tickets before sightseeing at the herb gardens. Today the herb gardens were overflowing with tourists. However, the weather was fine and it was very comfortable. After visiting the herb gardens, little time remained in the tour, but one of the guests wanted to stop by "the Starbucks in Kitano-cho," so we went to the Starbucks (Kitano Monogatarikan), and after purchasing some souvenirs, we returned to the Hotel and concluded the tour. At the Hotel, I helped arrange a taxi for the next morning with the Hotel staff, and the guests were very pleased.

They had requested to see an ordinary residential neighborhood and to learn about things like housing prices, so we walked through the old residential areas of Yanaka and Sendagi, checked out advertisements for rental apartments posted at a real estate agency, and stopped by a supermarket to look around at the products. We had also planned to visit Tsukiji Market, but since many shops were closed that day, we instead strolled through the Imperial Palace Outer Garden and the East Gardens under clear skies, and the guests were delighted by how beautiful the Ninomaru Garden was.

I have been working as a tour guide for 5years mainly around Tokyo, Kanagawa, for example, Hakone, Kamakura, Yokohama and Kawasaki. I have had an experience of attending a lot of foreign visitors from all over the world in both private and group tours for sightseeing and business in one to multi-days. I’m able to arrange the tour for you, so please feel free to ask me your favorite plan in Japan as to spot, food and some activities. I like to see Buddhist statues in temples so I’d like to introduce our history and culture. Also because I like Japanese animation and character, and animals, I can take you to some shops for the animation and animal cafes that are so popular among tourists. Looking forward to seeing you soon and share wonderful time in Japan! Thank you.

    • 13:50-14:30 @ Kinkaku-ji
    • 14:30 Dismissal @ In front of Kinkaku-ji entrance

What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like? Fushimi Inari, Nijo Castle, and Kinkaku-ji — A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Europe. They had arrived in Kyoto from Naoshima the previous day. They shared a story about renting bicycles in Naoshima in the rain and getting completely soaked. In contrast, today was beautifully clear, so they said they were looking forward to the tour. Fushimi Inari was very crowded, with a constant flow of people. There was a long line at the Omokaru-ishi stones as well, so they did not try that. Instead, they experienced the Neagari-no-Matsu (the raised-root pine). At Miyagawacho, the atmosphere changed completely, and they seemed delighted to see the quiet scenery of the geisha district. Nijo Castle was less crowded than expected, making it easy to stroll around. At Kinkaku-ji, when I explained that the Golden Pavilion expresses the balance of power between the samurai class and the court nobility, they became very interested, so I ended up explaining the entire process of the transition from imperial court rule to samurai government in Japanese history. I had allocated time to see the guests off to their hotel, but after Kinkaku-ji they said they wanted to have lunch at a nearby conveyor-belt sushi restaurant, so we parted ways in front of the entrance to Kinkaku-ji. The tour ended earlier than planned, but this was with the guests' agreement.

Title: What Is a Private Walking Tour of Sapporo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Starting from the hotel, we walked to spots that travelers often visit — the former Hokkaido Government Office Building (the Red Brick Office), the Sapporo Clock Tower, Odori Park, Nijo Market, and Tanukikoji — covering them all on foot despite the cold weather. At Hokkaido Shrine, as it was a Sunday, we were able to see many families celebrating Shichi-Go-San and what appeared to be newlyweds who had just finished their wedding ceremonies, which the guests enjoyed very much. Since the guests had brought a goshuincho (a book for shrine and temple stamps), it turned out to be a very well-timed visit. As the final stop, we visited the Sapporo Beer Museum, where, just as at the Sapporo Clock Tower, the guests showed a keen interest in the history of Hokkaido and Sapporo. I introduced the shopping mall adjacent to the Sapporo Beer Museum, and with that, the tour came to an end.

What Is a Private Walking Tour of Koyasan Like? A Licensed Guide's Report At the guests' request, we moved the start time 30 minutes earlier. Since the Mani Pagoda is very close to the temple lodging, we went inside. I showed the guests Theravada Buddhism from Myanmar. I explained Japan's wartime actions during World War II and the film "The Bridge on the River Kwai." Choosing a less crowded time, we first toured the interior of Kongobuji Temple. The guests looked at everything with great interest and viewed it carefully. They also toured the Danjo Garan carefully. Along the Jabara-michi path, the faintly reddening autumn leaves that had just begun to change color were striking. Vegan cuisine was requested, and since one of the guests had a food allergy, I called the restaurant by mobile phone and had the guests confirm directly. The guests were very pleased with Tenpu Terrace, which opened last year, and stayed for about an hour and a half. Returning to the area near the Danjo Garan, we walked the Nyonin-michi path of about 1 km from here to the Daimon Gate. It rained slightly, but since I had prepared four umbrellas, we were able to walk without any problem. After viewing the Daimon Gate, we returned to the temple lodging and parted ways. The guests told me that, having traveled around various parts of Japan, they found Koyasan to be the most beautiful.

I grew up in the mountain village. I learned many things from my family, especially my grandmother. I can give you many interesting experiences in the wild nature. We eat wild strawberries or “Sukanpo ” the edible grass, fly ferns or cross a suspension bridge.
I walked all of Kumano Kodo, Koyasan pilgrimage roads and other ancient highways, total length is more than 600km ( 400 miles).
I want you to show the interesting spots beyond the guide book. Kii mountain range has old history as well as beautiful land scapes. I’ll take you the excellent places you can do Facebook bragging.
My experiences for guiding foreigners are, town of Koyasan, pilgrimage road to Koyasan, Kumano Kodo Nakahechi, hot springs, Shingu city and Nachi Katsuura town, Kushimoto area, Shirahama area so on.
I wish to meet you soon!

Title: What Is a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Meiji Shrine, Tsukiji, and Asakusa The guest was a visitor from Oceania. They arrived at the Hotel early in the morning after taking the Shinkansen from Osaka. Since there was a discount store near the Hotel, I recommended purchasing some souvenirs there. At Meiji Shrine, the guest said it was "very quiet" and seemed to really enjoy it. They took photos of the ikebana flower arrangement on display and the religious buildings, and showed interest in the purification ritual performed before praying. They also took photos of the ema votive plaques. Since the guest said they liked sushi, we went to a sushi shop at the Tsukiji Outer Market that I have now used three times, bought a pack of tuna, and ate it in front of the shop. When I mentioned, "I have brought many customers here," the shop staff kindly gave us an extra 1,000 yen worth as a bonus. As Asakusa is very famous, the guest said, "I've seen it in photos many times." After praying at Senso-ji Temple, we enjoyed matcha ice cream at Kaminari Issa.

Hiroshima in One Day: Itsukushima Shrine & Peace Memorial Museum

    Tour Itinerary

    • 9:30 Meet at Hiroshima Station
    • 11:15 Itsukushima Shrine
    • 12:15 Omote-sando street
    • 13:20 Lunch
    • 15:20 Peace Memorial Park
    • 16:30 Peace Memorial Museum
    • 17:00 End of the tour at Peace Museum

What Is a Private Miyajima and Hiroshima Peace Park Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. We waited in line for about 20 minutes at Itsukushima Shrine, which we had not done in a while. While I was waiting in line, the guests were free to take photos. It was very crowded, and some of the guests got separated between the exit of Itsukushima Shrine and Omotesando, which caused some lost time. Since the guests also enjoyed shopping, I allowed free time at Omotesando. For lunch, the oyster restaurants were too crowded to get in, so we went to a restaurant serving set meals. Some of the guests ordered beer and were surprised by the truly large size. They enjoyed their beer and lunch with lemon and salt. On the train, the guests found the folding auxiliary seats fancy and sat on them even though other seats were available. At the Peace Memorial Park, the guests tended to spread out to take photos, and since I was also translating into Spanish at times, it took longer than expected. We ended the tour at the museum.

Hi. I’m Michi. I’m a national licensed tour guide in English.
I want to introduce many faces and charms of Japan and make your stay in Japan more fascinating and satisfying.

I was born and raised in Hiroshima. My first tour in English was as a volunteer guide for the visitors to my school when I was a junior high school student. It gave me a great opportunity to study about the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima.
I spent my life in Hiroshima except for 6 years; 1 year in the UK as a student and 5 years working in Singapore and Malaysia. During this period I enjoyed meeting and talking with people from different cultural backgrounds.
These experiences encouraged me to be a licensed tour guide.

In Hiroshima, there are two famous World Heritage Sites, the Atomic Bomb Dome in the Hiroshima Peace Memorial & Itsukushima Shrine in Miyajima.
I have experienced many tours of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum & Park since I was a junior high school student. I would like to introduce you to the a-bomb legacies that are still existing in the city and the stories under the mushroom cloud.
I also would like to share time with you on a historic island, Miyajima. There is one of the most famous Shinto shrines, the Itsukushima Shrine. We can share an enjoyable time by exploring a sacred atmosphere, tradition, nature, food, etc.

I am also an official ‘A-bomb legacy successor’ designated by the City of Hiroshima. An A-bomb Legacy Successor is a memory keeper of the A-bomb survivors. To ensure that the A-bomb survivors’ experiences and desires for peace are faithfully inherited and shared with as many people as possible, the City has started a three-year training program for official ‘A-bomb Legacy Successors. ‘

Let me support your stay in Japan and I look forward to showing you the best of Japan!
    Hope to see you soon!
