    • 11:30 Enter Himeji Castle for sightseeing
    • 13:30 Leave Himeji Castle and head to Sosha Shrine

Title: What's a Private Himeji Castle and Shrine Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group of adults visiting from Europe. They came from Osaka on a local train, so the tour started about 10 minutes later than planned. While walking along Miyuki Street, one of the guests mentioned an interest in street food and kimono, so we stopped at a taiyaki shop. Inside Himeji Castle, the guests explored many areas with great interest, and along the way they asked to visit a famous shrine or temple in Himeji, so I changed the plan and guided them to Iwato Hyozu Shrine after the castle. By chance, we came across a wedding ceremony and a Shichi-Go-San celebration, and the guests took many photos. After that we had lunch, and finally the guests asked to visit a kimono shop, so we went to a kimono store on Otemae Street. Although the tour time had already passed, I explained about the return rapid train and we said our goodbyes.

Title: What's a Private Himeji Castle Tour Like for Guests Arriving by Shinkansen? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests arrived in Himeji on the 8:46 Hikari shinkansen, and after meeting at around 9:00 as scheduled, we confirmed the sightseeing plan. Since they had made a lunch reservation in Kobe Sannomiya, they wished to catch a train around noon, so the Himeji tour ended up focusing solely on a visit to Himeji Castle. Showing them an old map, I explained things such as how JR Himeji Station is located just outside the southern side of the outer moat as we headed toward the Himeji Castle ticket office. Since it was drizzling, we walked along the Miyuki-dori shopping street, and they enjoyed the trick art there so much that they took commemorative photos with a piece they liked. As we were saying how glad we were that the rain had stopped, the sky cleared and the white-walled keep shone beautifully against the blue sky, and the group was moved, exclaiming how beautiful it was, and were very pleased. The elegant keep, as well as the other buildings and walls, are all covered in white plaster and beautifully designed. They were also impressed not only by this but by the ingenuity of the defensive systems. Some of the guests seemed especially interested in the defensive features, and I received many questions from the whole group. I believe they enjoyed themselves very much. We returned to the station a little before noon, and at the ticket gate I informed them of the departure time of the next special rapid train, the platform number, and the escalator, and saw them off at the central ticket gate. The group was enjoying a rather luxurious trip, staying several nights at a lovely villa in Kyoto, visiting sightseeing spots to their liking, savoring distinctive food in different towns for lunch, and returning to their base in Kyoto.

I am Hiromi Mizoi, call me Hiro. I mainly have Himeji tours because I live in Himeji. I got my National Guide Certificate in 2017. I started to guide tourists as a volunteer guide in 2004. I had been a volunteer guide for a long time. However, I could not have any tours from April in 2020 to November in 2022 due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. Now, many tourists have come back to Japan. So, I am very excited. I would like to share not only the beauty of Himeji Castle’s Main Tower Complex but also the tricky defense systems of the entire Castle Grounds, which many visitors do not realize, with you. I was born and grew up very close to the west side of the moats of the Castle. So, I love Himeji Castle. I like other tourists’ favorite sightseeing spots such as Kokoen Garden and Engyoji Temple in Mt. Shosya. As one of Himeji locals, I am greatly happy to share the local people’s favorite spots with you. I look forward to your tours.

Title: What Is a Private Nara Tour Like for Guests Who Prefer to Avoid Crowds? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Oceania, and this was the first visit to Japan for one of them, while another had previously experienced a homestay in Japan. At first, there was no request for popular spots such as Todai-ji Temple or Kasuga Shrine, as the guests preferred to avoid places with large crowds. I had informed them in advance that this day was the opening day of the Shosoin Exhibition at the Nara National Museum, but they chose to skip it, expecting it to be crowded. However, they were very interested in Japanese gardens and Buddhist statues, and I believe the guests were thoroughly satisfied. This private tour was arranged through [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/), one of Japan's largest networks of government-licensed, English-speaking private tour guides, serving all 47 prefectures. Title: What Is a Private Hakone Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Owakudani and Hakone Shrine The guests today were a group from North America. Since the Hotel was a location I was visiting for the first time, when we walked from the Hotel toward Gora Station, we immediately saw a sign reading "Gora Station Shortcut," so we chose that route. It turned out to be quite a steep uphill climb, and all three of us arrived at the station out of breath. I couldn't help but laugh and say, "That was a good workout for the morning!" With the great weather and such a friendly, cheerful atmosphere, it was a wonderful start to the day. At Owakudani, we were also able to see Mount Fuji beautifully, with clouds only lingering around the base, which was rare and truly spectacular. After that, we enjoyed the Old Tokaido Road and Hakone Shrine before returning to the Hotel. Since I had heard that there would be no guide available for their first day in Kyoto the following day, I recommended a yakitori restaurant not too far from the Hotel where they would be staying. They were very pleased with the suggestion.

I registered as a national guide in February 2015 and began working as an interpreter guide in 2019. I have been guiding throughout Tokyo (I was born and raised in Setagaya and went to elementary and junior high school in Aoyama, Minato-ku. I am familiar with sightseeing spots and gourmet food in this area, including Shibuya), and I now live in Kanagawa (Yokohama where I have lived more than 30 years, and Kamakura, Odawara, Hakone)
I worked for the Japanese branch of an American advertising company for over 30 years and, thus, have deep knowledge of marketing and branding.
My hobbies are travel (domestic and international) and bicycling (I have participated in the Tour de Okinawa citizens’ race every year since 2017. I ride approx. 7,000 kilometers a year). When traveling in Japan, I enjoy traditional crafts, local products, food, and sake from each region. I am also active in a band as a third hobby, performing live once a year for ten years.
As a guide, I mainly guide small groups (about 4-5 people), where I can communicate more closely and politely with them, rather than large groups.
My activity aims to deepen the understanding of Japanese traditional culture and the Japanese people among foreign visitors and to make a small contribution to making Japan the number one country to revisit in their hearts.

What Does a Full-Day Private Walking Tour of Tokyo Cover? A Licensed Guide's Report Walking from the guests' Hotel to Akasaka Station, I offered suggestions for restaurant options for their dinner tonight in the lively area around the Hotel. At Meiji Shrine, we took an overview of Shinto and the imperial system. Prioritizing efficient travel time, we took the JR line to Shibuya Station, where we actually crossed the intersection and viewed it from above. On the way to Shiodome via the Ginza Line and Oedo Line, I explained that these two lines are keywords for understanding the difficult and complex city of Tokyo. The guests thoroughly enjoyed nigiri sushi at a sushi restaurant in the outer market of Tsukiji. They were very pleased. After strolling through the Yanaka-Nezu-Sendagi area and Senso-ji Temple and Nakamise Street in Asakusa, we parted ways. It was a long itinerary, but the guests seemed very satisfied.

Born and raised in Tokyo a half-century ago, I have lived in Tokyo all my life except for one year in the UK to study for a master’s course. I am a Tokyo Native with viewpoints based on broader local knowledge than anyone else. I have specialised in Japanese history, culture, and architecture since I was an architect.
Also, I am a foodie emphasising Japanese traditional & healthy foods. I’ve been to many countries around the world, such as the US, Central America, Europe, and Asia. As such, I believe I can anticipate the needs of foreign tourists in Japan.

Despite my experience as a guide for just two years, we can make the best out of our tour by travelling from your hotel to spots time-efficiently with my local knowledge, while accommodating your unexpected requests during the tour.
My strong area includes Yanesen; Old Temples in a Quaint Village, Kamakura, Asakusa Sensoji, Meiji Shrine and Imperial Palace. All give you peace of mind.

Can You Do a Private Day Tour of Gotokuji and Asakusa in Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests requested to visit Nezu Shrine, Gotokuji Temple, and Sensoji Temple, but given the time available and the location of the hotel, I suggested that they visit Nezu Shrine on their own, and instead spend today thoroughly touring the somewhat less accessible Gotokuji Temple and the sight-filled Asakusa area with a guide. They agreed to this plan. They had been looking forward to their visit to Japan so much that they had prepared handmade little thank-you gifts to carry with them, in case someone showed them kindness during their trip in Japan. In the latter part of the tour in Asakusa, there was a slight sense that they were a little tired from the crowds, but the tour proceeded in a warm and pleasant atmosphere throughout.

Hi! My name is Kiyo Hirose, a nationally licensed guide in Tokyo.
I was born and raised in Kobe, a small city in Western Japan, near Osaka and Kyoto. After I lived in several different regions, I have been in Tokyo since 2019. My experiences across Japan’s diverse regions allowed me to appreciate the cultural and regional diversity of Japan.
Through the period of 2yrs paid guide and 12 years volunteer guide, I have supported a wide range of travelers, from individuals to the groups. Now I’m providing guiding, interpretation, escorting, and transfer assistance. What Can You See on a 4-Hour Private Kyoto Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report on Fushimi Inari and Kinkaku-ji I waited early and the guests arrived 15 minutes ahead of time, so we started the tour right away. Since the 4-hour tour covered Fushimi Inari Taisha and Kinkaku-ji, I showed them a map and explained that the two sites are far apart and travel between them would take time. They understood, and we began the tour. We arrived at Fushimi Inari Taisha after 10:00, so it was already very crowded. One of the guests had a hard time taking photos. Kinkaku-ji was unfortunately crowded as well, and they remarked that although it was beautiful, they disliked the crowds. For a place to eat, we decided to try Nishiki Market despite the expected crowds. It was extremely busy, but the guests bought a few things to eat and mentioned they would walk around a bit more after we parted. At the end, we took a commemorative photo and said goodbye.

What Does a Private Tokyo Day Tour Include? A Licensed Guide's Report on Meiji Shrine, Tsukiji, Asakusa, and Ginza The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from Europe. They had read many books about Japan, so they were quite knowledgeable. They were very surprised at how easy the subway signs were to understand and how accurate the timetables were. They also remarked that people in Japan were very kind. They said Meiji Shrine was very beautiful. At Tsukiji, they enjoyed sushi and tempura and said it was delicious. They were amazed by the number of people and shops at the outer market. In Asakusa, we first looked out at Tokyo Skytree and Sensoji Temple from the observation deck on the 8th floor of the information center, and then we visited Sensoji Temple. They were surprised by and enjoyed the lively atmosphere of Nakamise and the surrounding area. In Ginza, we had coffee at Nissan Crossing and enjoyed the view from the rooftop garden of Ginza Six before returning to the Hotel. The weather was cloudy, but it did not rain, and the guests were so cheerful that I had a wonderful time as well.

What Is a Private Walking Tour of Hiroshima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group from Asia who had been classmates at university, and they were people who enjoyed lively discussions about all kinds of topics. They walked at a relaxed pace. Since they had asked for recommendations for dinner near their Hotel, I sent them information about "Ekinishi," and at the start of the tour we confirmed the location on the way to Shukkeien Garden. As they had already visited Osaka Castle, at Hiroshima Castle I explained its history, and we did not go inside the main keep. They viewed the Peace Memorial Museum very carefully, and after coming outside they exchanged many passionate views on the current state of world affairs, the economy, and weapons. They also listened very attentively to my explanations.

Hi, I’m Kahori, a nationally licensed tour guide, and delighted to show people around this area. For the past almost 10 years, I have mainly guided foreign medical professionals around Hiroshima City and Miyajima, gaining a deep understanding of the effects of radiation and the support for A-bomb survivors.
Hiroshima is a city of rivers and the sea. Along the rivers Cherry trees line, and the calm Seto Inland Sea, dotted with islands, creates a stunning landscape. Also, the sea has many islands called “art islands” which have fantastic arts relating to the art festival “Setouchi Triennale”. In addition to our two World Heritage Sites, this area is rich in attractive resources. I hope many of you will come and experience this fascinating land. Personally, I am very passionate about modern art and enjoy sports like stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) on our rivers.
I look forward to meeting you, interacting with you, and also, learning from you!

What Is a Private Kyoto Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Kinkaku-ji, Ginkaku-ji, and Kiyomizu-dera I met the group visiting from North America on time at Kyoto Station, confirmed the itinerary, and then traveled to Kinkaku-ji by train and bus. Although Kinkaku-ji was very crowded with travelers, I was able to guide them at a relaxed pace, and the guests took many commemorative photos, making it an enjoyable tour. From Kinkaku-ji, we transferred buses and, although it took some time, arrived at Ginkaku-ji. Since it was already past lunchtime, we took a snack break at a teahouse along the approach. After that, we toured Ginkaku-ji, and the guests enjoyed an atmosphere quite different from that of Kinkaku-ji. The trip from Ginkaku-ji to Kiyomizu-dera was by bus, but due to traffic conditions it took longer than planned. The approach was also so crowded that it was hard to move, and after I explained about the temple and guided them to the front gate, one of the guests became tired from walking and sat down at the stone steps, deciding not to enter the temple. One of the guests suggested, "Rather than going into the temple, we would like to take our time and enjoy the atmosphere of the area, so let's part ways here. We will manage on our own from now on." Unfortunately, we parted ways there. As a result, I somewhat regretted not being able to guide them to Fushimi Inari Shrine due to time constraints. Everyone was very interested in Japan, and one of the guests seemed to have visited Japan before and appeared to have background knowledge about the country.

After a rather long teaching experience at Japanese college, I converted my career about 6 years ago into working as a tour guide for the tourists visiting Japan.
As my career overseas, I’ve been in the UN and the Japanese Embassy, all in the USA, totaling more than 6 years.
And then I had made a big change in my career from a diplomat to an academic researcher. For that career to achieve, I studied abroad and won a doctorate degree in linguistics from Indiana University and landed a teaching position at college in Japan.
With all these interesting and exciting experiences I’ve made myself ready to enrich your tour and make it both enjoyable and worthwhile.
