    Title: What Can You See in a Private One-Day Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan from North America, and it was their first visit to Japan. They had arrived at Haneda Airport the previous evening and taken a taxi to their hotel, and enjoyed Japanese food in Ginza that evening. The main purpose of this trip was participation in the Tokyo Marathon, and they remarked how lucky they felt to have been selected as a participant. They planned to stay in Japan for a total of ten days, staying in Tokyo for the first couple of days before moving on to Kyoto, then touring Kyoto, Osaka, and Nara before returning to Tokyo and heading home. They mentioned wanting to visit Asakusa, Tsukiji, the Imperial Palace, and the Tokyo Station Ramen Street the following day. The tour took place under clear, almost warm skies. The guests wished to cover as many places as possible, even if only briefly at each. First we headed to Shinjuku. At the Shinjuku East Exit, I explained the route to the Tokyo Marathon starting point and to the Metropolitan Government Building. We passed through "Omoide Yokocho" on the way to Kabukicho. I gave an overview of the history and current state of Shinjuku. One comment was that it resembled Times Square in New York, and there were questions such as "How is public safety here? Is it safe to walk alone?" We then moved to Harajuku and visited Meiji Shrine. I explained topics such as "What is Shinto," "the difference between Buddhism and Shinto," and "the history of Edo and the Meiji Restoration." One remark was how wonderful it was to have such a green park in the city center. We then moved to Takeshita Street and Cat Street. The guests eagerly photographed the "dog cafe" and "pig cafe," saying they would love to bring family members who are fond of animals next time. On Cat Street, there was interest in secondhand clothing, with plans to return the following day. After this, we moved to Shibuya, where the guests experienced the Scramble Crossing and took photos. We also took commemorative photos in front of the Hachiko statue. Wishing to reserve the Shinkansen tickets to Kyoto, they purchased them at the ticket office at Shibuya Station. Here too there were questions such as "Why are there so many people? Are most of them Japanese, or are they travelers?" There were also comments such as "Japanese people are all so polite," "The streets are clean and there is no litter scattered around," "Why are there no trash bins?" "The public restrooms are clean and pleasant," and "There don't seem to be any homeless people." There was also a question about how much rent for an apartment in the city would cost. We then moved to Shimbashi. As the guests were heading to Tokyo Big Sight to register for the Tokyo Marathon, I saw them off at the Yurikamome ticket gate, where we parted ways.

    In the past, I was stationed in Canada, the United States, and Mexico as an expatriate of a Japanese bank for over 11 years.
    Since I have been mainly involved in the financing business in the United States for a long time, I think I am able to provide interpretation and translation services related to business and finance.
    I am a certified CPA in the United States.
    In addition, for three years from April 2016, I will be engaged in Japanese-English translation work (part-time), and I can also handle translation work.
    Although I don’t have a qualification in Spanish, but I think I can handle day to day conversation in Spanish without any problems.
    My hobby is trekking and from time to time, take a walk around mountains near Tokyo like Mt. Takao, Tanzawa, etc. I think it is possible to provide tourist information here as well.
    Since April 2015, I have been working as a Tokyo Metropolitan Tourism Volunteer and Tokyo Metropolitan Disaster Prevention Volunteer.
    One more, I have a separate house near Asuka Village, Nara prefecture, and I stay there for a total of about 30 days every year and have been enjoying sightseeing personally in the vicinity. Therefore, I think in the Kansai region, especially in Nara, Asuka, Yoshino, Koyasan, Kumano Kodo, etc., where I think I will be able to tour guide with confidence.

    Title: What Can You See on a Private Osaka Tour of Kuromon Market and Dotonbori? A Licensed Guide's Report Body: The guests were visitors from North America. The meeting location had not been clearly understood, so the tour started with a delay. It also seemed that, possibly due to poor handling by the local agency, the guests had not seen any of my emails, and the itinerary had not been finalized until the day of the tour. For this reason, we held a brief meeting before starting. In addition, the hotel used as the meeting point was not their accommodation but simply a meeting place, and since they would be returning home from Kansai International Airport after the tour, we used a coin locker to store their large amount of luggage. I also helped them purchase JR tickets to Kansai International Airport. In the end, the tour started nearly 30 minutes behind schedule. At Kuromon Market, since the guests were a little hungry, they had a light meal at a local udon restaurant. They commented that it was "very delicious and satisfying." They also purchased many souvenirs at the gift shops. At Dotonbori, they enjoyed trying the popular soft-serve ice cream known for its entertaining performance. After guiding them to the JR platform for the train to Kansai International Airport, we parted ways.

    real genuine Kobe Beef here. Kobe is also called “Home of Japanese Sake” with lots of Sake breweries, and I recommend you would visit those breweries
    if you have any interest in Japanese Sake as well as one aspect of Japanese cultures. Of course, you can have tastings of various kinds of Sake there.

    Whenever during the tour, I always try to make it safe, pleasant and comfortable for all of the guests, which is my first priority. I am very much confident
    that you can have a pleasant and unforgettable experience in Japan. Just tell me about your preference; what you would like to like to see, have, know
    and eat and so on. Particularly, I hold the license for cooking qualified by the government here and maybe, I can reply you for questions related to the
    foods here. In this respect, I strongly recommend you would try not only famous Japanese cuisine such as Sushi, Tempura or Suki-yaki but some
    Japanese traditional local foods, like Tako-yaki, Okonomi-yaki and Kushkatsu. They are sometimes called the soul foods of Japan. Here is the brief
    explanation for these three foods.

    1) Tako-yaki
    Tako-yaki is a snack filled with pieces of octopus in a batter of flour , egg and soup stock. You can call them octopus dumplings or balls. “Tako” means
    octopus and “yaki” means grilled or broiled.
    2) Okonomi-yaki
    This word Okonomi-yaki means “cook just as you like” and you can use whatever you like as toppings, such as beef, pork, shrimp, squid and octopus.
    Okonomi-yaki is round shape and just like pancakes or pizza in shape mainly made from egg, flour and water.
    3) Kushi-katsu
    Kushi-katsu is skewered cutlet or deep-fried foods on a stick. “Kushi” means skewer and “katsu” means cutlet. Various kinds of foods are used for
    ingredients such as beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, squid, octopus and lots of kinds of vegetables.

    Actually, the western Japan including Osaka, Kobe and Himeji is called as “Home of such local soul foods”. You should give it a try and I am sure
    that you like them very much.

    I sincerely hope that I can be your tour guide this time in Kobe, Osaka and Himeji. If my guests said to me after the tour, “I have had a very good

    Title: What Can You See on a Private Full-Day Tokyo Tour? Asakusa, the Imperial Palace, and Tsukiji — A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan for the first time from Europe. Their everyday language was a European language, but they had no trouble communicating in English at all. They had arrived at Haneda Airport the previous evening and traveled to their hotel by train (Toei Asakusa Line). They mentioned that the previous evening they had enjoyed Kobe beef steak nearby. The main purpose of this visit to Japan was to take part in the Tokyo Marathon. They were staying in Japan for a total of ten days. After this, they planned to travel around Hakone, Kyoto, and Osaka, then return to Tokyo before heading home. They said, "Tomorrow we would like to visit Shinjuku and Shibuya." The tour took place under clear, almost warm skies. "Right now there is snow back home, so this is delightful," they said. I explained about Japan's winter weather. We entered Senso-ji Temple, and from the main hall we proceeded in reverse through the Nakamise shopping street. I explained about "the history of Senso-ji and the transition from Edo to Tokyo," "what a five-story pagoda is," and "the difference between Buddhism and Shinto." There were questions such as "Do all Japanese people believe in Buddhism?", "What kind of teaching is Buddhism?", "How do Shinto and Buddhism differ?", and "Are there Christians in Japan?" The Nakamise shopping street was as crowded as ever. We moved on to the Imperial Palace. I explained about "the transition from the Edo period to the Meiji period," "the Meiji Restoration," "why Edo Castle became the Imperial Palace," and "an overview of the current Imperial Family." "The pine trees are beautiful," they said. There were also questions such as "Does the Emperor really live inside here?", "Who will be the next Emperor?", and "What are the features of a Japanese garden?" They commented, "There is also a monarch back home, but very modest and down-to-earth. The palace is right in the middle of the city and much smaller. The monarch is beloved by all the people." We moved on to Tsukiji. As always, there were large crowds. First we visited Tsukiji Uogashi, then the outer market. I explained about "the history of the fish market since the Edo period" and "the difference between Toyosu Market and the Tsukiji outer market." We looked around various shops, and they bought and sampled tuna sushi and scallops. There were also questions such as "Why are there so many people here?" and "Do all people in Tokyo come here to buy fish?" After this, one of the guests wanted to buy a mobile phone battery, so we went to Bic Camera in Yurakucho. "There is no store back home with such a full range of electronics," they said. They also commented, "Everyone in Japan is so polite," "The streets are clean and there's no litter scattered around," "Why are there no trash cans?", and "The public restrooms are clean and pleasant." From here we moved to Shimbashi. The guests were going to Tokyo Big Sight to register for the Tokyo Marathon, so I saw them to the ticket gate for the Yurikamome line and we parted ways.

    What Can You See on a Full-Day Private Walking Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report The group's hotel was a little away from Shinjuku Station, but since the guests seemed quite comfortable walking, we started out on foot. After that, we moved around using a mix of the subway and JR lines. I had originally planned to leave Yoyogi Park off the itinerary, but I found information that the kanzakura (early-blooming cherry blossoms) were in bloom, so I decided to guide the group there after Meiji Shrine. Although the number of trees was small, they were almost in full bloom, and since it was a weekday there were few visitors, so I feel this was a good decision. As we had some extra time in the itinerary, before Asakusa I let the guests do some shopping at Kappabashi Kitchenware Street, and in the time left after lunch I briefly showed them around Akihabara. One of the guests planned to take part in the Tokyo Marathon on Sunday and wished to stop by a related event being held at Tokyo Big Sight after the tour, so at the end we took the JR line to Shimbashi Station and I walked them to the Yurikamome boarding area before we parted ways.

    I was born in Tokyo and was raised in the suburbs of Tokyo called Tama area. When I was in university, I majored in western dramas, so I am good at playing like an actor.
    I like reading, listening to the music, and walking. I belong to several walking clubs, and sometimes I guide the members around Tokyo.
    One of my strengths as a guide is that I know well about kombu, Japanese kelps. In December every year, I work at a traditional kombu shop in Tsukiji Fish Market. At that shop, I learned a lot of things related to kombu or other ingredients for washoku. I can explain the different characteristics of them to you.

    What's a Private Family-Friendly Day Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan for the first time from North America, coming to coincide with the Tokyo Marathon. They said they wanted to experience the city, the food, and the culture, so we visited the Imperial Palace, Tsukiji Market, Tokyo Tower, and Shibuya. At Tsukiji Market in particular, each of the guests wanted to eat something different, so they enjoyed their own favorites at various stops along the way. I was especially happy to see one of the guests, who had shown little reaction earlier, break into a big smile over a wagyu beef skewer. At the guests' request, we went all the way up to the Top Deck of Tokyo Tower, which was full of excitement and thrills. We finished by exploring the Shibuya Scramble Crossing and the food shops in the underground area of Shibuya. Since the guests planned to take a taxi to their next destination, I guided them to the taxi stand and we parted ways there.

    I was born and raised in Tokyo(for over 40 years!) but used to live in the U.S. for a couple of years as a child.

    Title: What's a Private Day Tour of Osaka Like from a Kobe Cruise Port? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were an energetic group visiting from North America. The meeting point was originally set at the Osaka Port cruise terminal, and since we had been in touch and planned to explore Osaka, the guests still wished to sightsee in Osaka even after learning the ship would call at Kobe instead. At Osaka Castle Park, we enjoyed the plum blossoms in the plum grove; although they were only about sixty percent in bloom and not yet at their most vivid, the guests, who loved flowers, took many photos and had a wonderful time. In Dotonbori, they enjoyed kushikatsu and takoyaki. The takoyaki was not quite to their taste, but they seemed to really like the kushikatsu. They also said they enjoyed the lively, bustling atmosphere of Dotonbori. They told me that traveling on public transportation such as the Port Liner, JR trains, and the subway was a fun experience. The guests kindly purchased the transportation tickets during the tour.

    What Is a Private Walking Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Koishikawa, Asakusa, and Tokyo Tower The guests were a group visiting from Europe. At Higashi-Shinjuku Station, they purchased registered PASMO cards. Since they enjoy gardens, I took them to Koishikawa Korakuen. The plum blossoms were about 80% in bloom and beautiful, which delighted them. In Asakusa, they visited not only Senso-ji Temple but also enjoyed sampling Japanese sweets as they walked and eating yakitori. We headed toward Tokyo Tower via Zojo-ji Temple, but the Sangedatsumon gate was under restoration, so only part of the temple could be seen. We visited Tokyo Tower in time for their teamLab reservation at Azabudai Hills, and then the tour concluded. The guests spoke of their strong regional pride and their respect for traditions and customs, saying that in this respect they felt Japan was similar to their own home. They showed me wedding photos featuring traditional attire, which I found very interesting.

After that, at the Imperial Palace I explained about emperors and shoguns, and in Asakusa I discussed the syncretism of Shinto and Buddhism as well as the entertainments enjoyed by common people during the Edo period. The guests seemed to genuinely enjoy the tour, and when I introduced a tempura restaurant called "Takao" in Shibuya at the end, they were very grateful. The guests thanked me, saying it had been a very rich and rewarding 6-hour tour.

    What Is a Private Walking Tour of Tokyo Like With Two Licensed Guides? A Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from North America. While waiting in the hotel lobby, it turned out that another guide from [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) was also guiding a separate group of guests, and it became clear that the two groups were friends who knew each other and wished to do the tour together. After the guides discussed the situation and confirmed the guests' agreement, each guide continued to look after their originally assigned guests while staying close together, sometimes joining in the conversation as a group, and proceeded along the same itinerary. Blessed with fine weather, everyone greatly enjoyed a pleasant walk full of conversation. One of the guests shared that, having overcome an illness, they would be taking part in the Tokyo Marathon, and they were a very bright, positive, and strong person. Every time we spotted runners in the streets who appeared to be Tokyo Marathon participants, they cheered and got everyone excited. They were the mood-maker of our group. At a dango shop in Asakusa where we took a break, everyone tried various flavors — sesame, mitarashi, and sweet red bean — and enjoyed them, saying they were delicious. At our final destination, Shibuya, I guided the group to a Hakata tempura restaurant inside PARCO recommended by the other [Japan Guide Agency](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guide, and we said our goodbyes.

    Private Hakone Day Tour Report from a Japan Guide Agency Licensed Guide: Lake Ashi, Owakudani, and Hakone Shrine The guests were a group visiting from North America. Interestingly, I had studied English for two months before going abroad at a university in North America, and it turned out that one of the guests had been a professor at that very university. In addition, an ancestor of the group had emigrated to North America from Hiroshima, and since I am from Hiroshima myself, what an amazing coincidence! Today we were lucky to see Mount Fuji beautifully from both the ropeway and Owakudani. The guests were also impressed by the volcanic activity at Owakudani. On the pirate ship, they relaxed in a first-class cabin. Since I had heard from the travel agency that some of the guests enjoyed shopping, I introduced two souvenir shops, and indeed we spent a long time shopping 😅. I guided them through the Hakone Checkpoint and the old Tokaido road, then Hakone Shrine, the Peace Torii Gate, Kuzuryu Shrine, and the Anzan Sugi cedar. At the last spot, famous for blessings related to children, the guests prayed earnestly.

    After graduating Kyoto Univ. I joined Mitsubishi-UFJ Bank, Osaka Branch where I met my wife who was a master of Englsih, so I started studying English.
    The bank allowed me to go to Columbia Graduate business school in New York and got MBA Degree there. I worked in London and Manchester Branch.
    During staying in U.K., I was introduced by BBC and Financial Times News Paper about my achievement there. I was selected as a personal assistant and interpreter for the President of the Bank.
    I made many business trips with him to overseas countries. I experienced as an interpreter for meeting late Henry Kissinger and the President of Citi. Corp.
    I changed the job to ORIX corporation, there I was promoted to a Board Member. When the company had acquired Dutch company, I was a member as an accountant to check the Dutch company’s statements of accounts.
    My hobbies are cooking, singing a song, playing tennis & golf, enjoy seeing arts especially opera & musical, travel. I am also busy with taking care of grandchildren. I passed Government Licensed Guide Exam. in 2016. After I retired in 2017, I started guide job as a part timer. So far, I accomplished guide job more than 500 times.
    My area coverage is from Tokyo, Hakone, Kamakura, Mt. Fuji to Kyoto, Nara, Oaka, Hiroshima. I am also able to guide Tea Ceremony, Maiko/Geisha, Sushi Making, Calligraphy, Sumo, Samurai, etc. I can speak excellent English.
