Tour Report Date: March 2025 Destinations: Miyajima, Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park Guest: the group Weather: Rain, later cloudy Experiences: Itsukushima Shrine – how to worship : Daisho-in Temple – kaidan-meguri (dark passage pilgrimage) : Maple Road – stroll : Peace Memorial Park – silent prayer of remembrance Details: The guests were a group visiting from North America. In the morning we sightsaw in the rain, using umbrellas, but in the afternoon the rain stopped and it became easier to walk. As the guests wished to spend more time at the Peace Memorial Park, we bought sandwiches at a convenience store for lunch. Recently many guests are budget-conscious, and it seems that for some guests this is a better option than insisting on a restaurant.

Originally, I’m a cycling guide doing cycling tours all over Japan.
But, already done Hiroshima & Miyajima tour more than 400 times.
I traveled many countries in my younger days. I traveled Europe, US, China, India, US, Mexico, Peru Australia, NZ, and so on.
I decided to use this experience to become a guide.
I’m afraid but no tipping required, because cycling guides are not allowed to have tipping in my association. And you do not need to pay for my lunch, because my lunch is prepared by our group.
Please do not hesitate to ask me anything, I’ll change the plan according to your requests.
Thank you for your understanding and please stay connected.

Kanagawa in One Day: Kyu Shiba Rikyu Gardens & Nezu Shrine

    Tour Itinerary

    • 09:00 Meet at Yokohama Port Osanbashi Terminal
    • 09:45~10:30 Stroll through Kyu Shiba Rikyu Gardens
    • 10:40~11:10 Visit Zojoji Temple and take a group photo with Tokyo Tower in the background
    • 11:30~12:40 Lunch at Gonpachi Nishi-Azabu, enjoying a Japanese cuisine lunch course
    • 13:30~14:30 Ninja experience at the Samurai Ninja Museum (near Asakusa)
    • 15:00~15:45 Explanation and appreciation of Japanese paintings at the gallery of Japanese painter Allan West. 3 guests purchased Japanese paintings.
    • 16:00~16:30 Visit Nezu Shrine
    • 17:30 Return to Yokohama Port Osanbashi Terminal. Guests paid the 30-minute overtime fee (driver).

Tokyo Private Tour Report: What Are the Best Spots on a Full-Day Guided Tour of Tokyo? The guests selected lunch at Gonpachi, the samurai and ninja museum experience, and a visit to Allan West's Japanese-style painting atelier as their top three highlights of the tour. 1) The guests loved the atmosphere and the lunch at the Gonpachi Nishi-Azabu restaurant. They were delighted to hear that this is the place where a summit-style izakaya meeting between a U.S. president and a Japanese prime minister took place, and that the setting of the film "Kill Bill" was inspired by this izakaya. 2) During the samurai experience at the samurai and ninja museum, the guests enthusiastically took part in the shuriken-throwing contest, and one of the guests was thrilled to place second. 3) At Allan West's gallery and atelier, the guests enjoyed his explanations and works — Allan being an artist from North America who has been creating Japanese-style paintings in Japan for 40 years — and some of the guests purchased his works. Due to road conditions, arrival at the drop-off point was delayed by 30 minutes, but the guests kindly agreed to cover the driver's overtime charge.

Title: What Is a Private Osaka Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Osaka Castle This was a private Osaka tour for a group visiting from North America. As their trip combined a conference with sightseeing, this was their only day for sightseeing in Osaka. We used a taxi throughout the day. For the sections that required walking, such as the descent at Osaka Castle, the group made their way on foot, and everyone around was very kind, allowing us to use elevators and other facilities on a priority basis. The plum grove at Osaka Castle happened to be at its best, and it was beautiful, so I guided the group there. They were very pleased and took many photos.

What's a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like for Families Visiting from Overseas? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. They had already traveled through Osaka and Kyoto, and Tokyo was the final destination of their trip. I chose places that would differ as much as possible from what they had already seen, taking them to spots that are unique to Tokyo such as Tsukiji Market and the Imperial Palace, while explaining the differences between Buddhism and Shinto and their relationship with the Imperial family as we strolled around. At the guests' request, they wanted to visit a shrine, Shibuya, and Shinjuku, so we first headed to Shinjuku to explore the bustling area, where I introduced the Godzilla statue building and the 3D cat advertisement. They wanted to return again at night and seemed to really enjoy the atmosphere of the place. We then visited Meiji Shrine, where we happened to see a wedding ceremony taking place, and the guests appeared deeply moved by the traditional Japanese customs. After that, we visited Takeshita Street, and then I took them to the Shibuya crossing and the Pokémon shop as they had requested, before ending the tour.

    Hello and welcome to Tokyo!

I have been working for business with American companies for many years. I have many experiences guiding customers from around the world in Japan and taking Japanese customers to the USA and Europe.

I now have a national license as a guiding interpreter, and I want to introduce the unique gigantic city of Tokyo and the traditional Japanese culture, which is not shown in the guidebooks, to people worldwide who are interested in it. In addition, I want to introduce various Japanese foods you can enjoy only in Japan.
Unique experiences such as the Sumo Training Viewing and Tea Ceremony are optionally available.
Depending on your preference and itinerary, I can guide you in Tokyo, Kamakura, and Hakone so that you can enjoy your time in Japan.

Title: What's a Private Food and Culture Day Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting from North America, with one having been to Japan before and the others coming for the first time, and they seemed very excited about the tour. At Tsukiji, they enjoyed Japanese food and food culture, including a tasting of three kinds of tuna, wagyu beef, strawberries, and tamagoyaki (rolled omelet). We took a taxi to Sakuradamon, where they listened attentively to stories about the history of Tokyo and the Imperial family. They asked many questions and showed great interest, which made me happy. While the animal cafes on Takeshita Street seemed a bit strange to them, they enjoyed strolling around Omotesando and the back streets. For lunch, the restaurant was filled mostly with local diners, and they seemed to really enjoy the flavors as well. They were deeply moved by the forest of Meiji Shrine, and were delighted to come across a wedding ceremony and a shrine visit for a newborn. In Shibuya, they enjoyed the Scramble Crossing and were also pleased with the MUJI store.

    Hi,
Thank you for contacting the Japan Guide Association to request a licensed guide for your upcoming visit to Japan. My name is Motoko Tanaka. I’m so happy to be assigned to you.
Let me introduce myself. I was born and raised in Tokyo, so it is nice to hear that you are excited about your visit to this wonderful city. There is much to be excited about here in Tokyo. I have really enjoyed guiding in Tokyo and the surrounding areas for more than 10 years.
I live with my husband and a dog named Alice. She was a rescue dog and I adopted her about 4 years ago. Now she is a very precious family member. I have two daughters, the elder one has a child and the younger has a aroma shop in a town near Mr. Fuji. I sometimes visit there with Alice.
I look forward to hearing from you and working with you to create a special day.
    Regards,
    Motoko

    Kurashiki Customized Half-Day Tour

    Tour Itinerary

    • 10:00 JR Kurashiki Station – 10:15 Kurashiki-kan – 10:35 Kurashiki Museum of Folk Craft – 11:00 Ohara Museum of Art – 11:50 Ohashi House – 12:40 Lunch and break – 13:10 Kurashiki Museum of Natural History – 14:30 JR Kurashiki Station

What Is a Private Kurashiki Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report It was a slightly chilly day, but we were blessed with good weather, and the guest actively enjoyed sightseeing. The guest was very familiar with electronic devices and used tools such as Google Lens. It was a fulfilling tour of about four hours. However, at the Kurashiki-kan, I was a little surprised when a private guide approached and said, "I can give a 20-minute guided tour for 2,000 yen using a translation device," even though I was already present. Also, at the Kurashiki City Museum of Natural History, even after showing my National Guide-Interpreter (全国通訳案内士) license, I was initially refused entry on the grounds that "there was no precedent." Afterwards, admission was made free, but I felt there were shortcomings in how the situation was handled. Nevertheless, the guest offered many interesting topics of conversation and enjoyed favorite dishes such as chawanmushi and zenzai, and I believe the guest was satisfied.

My name is Susumu Hiramatsu. I am a national government licensed guide interpreter. I became a guide interpreter in 1992. My educational background started with a BA in law, then an MA in English language education, and completed a doctoral course without a degree in English language teaching. My occupational career began with a bank officer, then shifted to a translation and interpretation company, finally became a freelance translator, interpreter, and college teacher. I handle conference interpretation, namely simultaneous interpretation. As for the guide interpreter, my interest covers wide areas including politics and business, but I deem cultural aspects to be fundamental. I am always encouraging myself to be filled with Japanese hospitality.

What's a Private Car Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Tsukiji, Asakusa, Meiji Shrine, and Shibuya The guests were a group visiting from North America, with some visiting Japan for the first time. Since we had a car for the day, it was a good opportunity to talk about Japanese history, culture, and national character along the way. At Tsukiji Fish Market we purchased sashimi such as medium-fatty tuna and sea urchin and enjoyed it on the third floor, and at a shop in the outer market we savored beef skewers and sake. As it was an auspicious day on the traditional calendar, we were able to see Shinto weddings and the accompanying processions at both Asakusa Shrine and Meiji Shrine. One of the guests purchased a figure at a shop known for character goods. Like other guests, the group was surprised by the contrast between Meiji Shrine and Takeshita Street, which was especially crowded over the weekend, located on opposite sides of the station. The crowds not only at the Scramble Crossing but around Shibuya Station went beyond surprise to being almost overwhelming. I helped with purchasing Shinkansen and Narita Express tickets at the travel center, and then we headed to the hotel.

Hello! My name is Hideki Maruyama. I was born in Osaka and raised in the Greater Tokyo area. I obtained my National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter Certificate in February 2016.
I spent 23 years working at a leading Japanese automotive company, including 7 years posted overseas. I then worked for a German premium automotive manufacturer for 13 years, followed by 6 years as an advisor to a British energy company. Through these roles at global corporations, I developed and refined key skills such as:
    1. Cross-cultural communication
    2. A deep understanding of business elites and affluent customers
    3. The ability to deliver impactful and impressive presentations in English
In addition to my regular duties, I often served as an interpreter for top executives during meetings with foreign government officials. I also had opportunities to introduce aspects of Japan—such as our national character and consumer preferences—to leadership teams in both the German and British companies.
As a tour guide, I’ve had the pleasure of guiding guests from a wide range of countries especially after the pandemic, including the US, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Norway, Romania, Slovenia, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, India, Hong Kong, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Argentina, Columbia, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Laos, Turkey, Jordan, Kenya and Israel.
When guiding, I always keep in mind to go beyond what guests can find on social media or ChatGPT. I believe my professional background allows me to offer unique insights, and I am encouraged when guests mention this in their reviews

What Can You See on a Private Osaka Day Tour from a Cruise Ship at Kobe? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group from North America who arrived at Kobe early in the morning on the day of the tour by cruise ship. They had visited Osaka several times before and had already seen the common tourist spots such as Osaka Castle, so this time the tour focused mainly on the Umeda Sky Building, Dotonbori, and food sampling at Kuromon Market. After the tour, they planned to enjoy shopping at Shinsaibashi-suji. Since I had heard they were fans of Japanese products, I guided them to the prefectural antenna shops at KITTE Osaka, which they enjoyed, though they were disappointed that there was no shop representing their home prefecture of Yamaguchi.

What Is a Private Walking Tour of Yanaka and Fukagawa in Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were an older group from North America who had booked three consecutive days of tours. They planned to spend a few days visiting Tokyo and the Fuji-Hakone area before boarding a cruise ship from the Tokyo Cruise Terminal. Since the meeting point for the upcoming Fuji-Hakone tour was set for 7:20 in the morning near a department store in Ginza, they were quite worried about it, so I checked the location with them in advance. They found the winding streets of Yanaka very interesting, especially seeing the everyday life of the local people and the old gravestones. One of the guests did not seem very used to walking and appeared a little tired, but the other was full of energy. At Fukagawa Fudoson, because it was the 15th, they were able to touch the wooden Fudo statue.

Title: What's a Private Day Tour of Osaka Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Dotonbori, Shitennoji, Osaka Castle and Umeda A travel agency let me know that the guests disliked crowds, so early in the day we passed through Dotonbori and headed to Kuromon Market. Even so, they happily posed for photos in front of the Glico sign. At the Mizukake Fudo in Hozenji Yokocho, they poured water over the statue as well. They seemed to love scenery that felt distinctly Japanese, and at Shitennoji Temple they took many photos of the Jizo statues and the five-story pagoda with a single-lens reflex camera. They were also delighted with photos of themselves together, so I took plenty of pictures for them in beautiful spots. At Shitennoji, one of the guests wanted to eat soba, so we went into a soba restaurant. This restaurant usually has a long wait, and I had thought it would be difficult to get in, but it had just opened at 11:30 and we were able to be part of the first group seated, so we could eat right away. They liked the atmosphere of the restaurant and took photos there. At Osaka Castle they took many photos of the plum grove, and in order to stop by this plum grove we walked a route heading toward Osaka Castle Park Station on the way back. Access to the Umeda Sky Building was also good, so I guided them up to the 39th floor, explained that the 40th floor requires an admission fee and that they did not need to go up, that souvenirs could be purchased on the 39th floor, and that there was also a dining area in the basement, and then we parted ways.

Hi! I’m an official English guide in Wakayama prefecture. I’m also a national guide as well. I’d like to expand my guide area to help tourists.
The town of Osaka offers a different atmosphere than Tokyo. I like both exciting Osaka and nature-filled Wakayama Prefecture.
If you stay in Osaka for 3 days, you can go to Koyasan for one day, or even for a day trip, so I recommend sightseeing at Koyasan.
If you are tired of the hustle and bustle of the big city, the nature of Koyasan will relax you.
I will introduce you to the unique culture, history and must-see sights.
