    What Is a Private Cherry Blossom Tour of Nagoya Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Nagoya Castle and Tokugawaen The guests were a group visiting Nagoya, and they were delighted by the fine weather and the cherry blossoms in full bloom. At Nagoya Castle in particular, they enjoyed views of the blossoms from a small path atop a raised embankment on the southern side of the castle moat, an area opened to the public only during the cherry blossom festival season. For lunch, in line with the guests' wishes, we bought local specialties from the food stalls lined up within the castle grounds during the festival, and they enjoyed a hanami lunch on the long benches specially set up for the season. They also enjoyed the calm atmosphere of the Japanese garden at Tokugawaen, as well as the view from the Mirai Tower in the center of Nagoya. As one of the guests was experiencing some discomfort, we returned to Nagoya Port a little earlier than planned and ended the tour there.

    The weather was fairly good. One of the guests mentioned suffering from severe jet lag, showing signs of fatigue on the train, and left the tour after having a meal in Asakusa. The rest of the group continued to enjoy the tour up to Takeshita Street in Harajuku. First, I helped them purchase PASMO cards at Shinjuku Station. At Tsukiji Market, they were delighted to see the fresh seafood and enjoyed some street food. At the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, the cherry blossoms were in fairly full bloom, and they took many photos. In Asakusa, after showing them around, they said they were extremely hungry, so I guided them to a ramen restaurant. After the meal, I saw one of the guests off in a taxi. The rest of the group visited Meiji Shrine, where I explained various things, including matters related to religion. They appreciated the simple and understated atmosphere of Meiji Shrine. I guided them to the entrance of Takeshita Street, where the tour ended as we ran out of time.

Depart Asakusa at 12:16 – Arrive at Ueno Station at 12:21. Lunch at Sushi Tsune on the 2F of Ueno Atre. Ueno Park. Cherry blossoms. Saigo Takamori statue, Kiyomizu Kannon, cherry tree-lined path, Inari Shrine, Ueno Toshogu Shrine, viewing the Rodin statues in the front garden of the National Museum of Western Art. Depart Ueno Station at 14:40 – Arrive at Tokyo Station at 14:45. Visit the Daimaru basement food floor, take photos in front of the Tokyo Station building,
    • KITTE building observation deck. From 15:30, pass in front of the Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum from the KITTE building to the Imperial Palace Nijubashi Bridge. Guided them inside the Tokyo International Forum building in Yurakucho. On foot to Ginza 4-chome,
    • Kyukyodo, Nissan showroom. At 17:00, told them the trains to Urayasu where the hotel is located, and parted ways at Ginza 4-chome. Although it was a 6-hour contract, the guiding ended up being 7 hours. This is a service.

    What Can You See on a Full-Day Walking Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors to Japan from North America. Rain was forecast for the day, and since the group had not brought umbrellas, they purchased some at a shop in Nishikasai. In Asakusa they enjoyed strawberries coated in candy. To help them appreciate both Japan's traditions and its modern buildings and food halls, I also guided them to places that ordinary tourists usually do not visit. At a food stall on the way to Ueno Toshogu, they bought a chocolate-coated banana. There were a few moments of light rain, but it never became heavy, making it a fortunate day. The cherry blossoms in Asakusa and Ueno were in full bloom, and the guests enjoyed Japan's sakura. Since department store basement food floors are uniquely Japanese, I guided them there so they could experience everyday life in Japan, and they purchased some cut citrus fruits. We walked all the way from Marunouchi to the Imperial Palace, Yurakucho, and Ginza, and I believe the guests thoroughly enjoyed it. We walked about 12 km in a single day. I think they fully enjoyed the diversity of Tokyo. Since they planned to stay in Osaka, I recommended that they also visit Kyoto and Nara. At parting, they offered a 5,000 yen note as a tip, but I declined as it was too much and accepted only 1,000 yen as a token of their appreciation.

    Tokyo Private Tour Report: What Can a Licensed Guide Cover in One Day from Tsukiji to Asakusa? Although it rained in the morning, once the tour began the weather cleared up at times with no further rain, and the guests stayed energetic and cheerful until the very end. Some of the guests moved a little slowly on foot, but managed to complete the full itinerary. Since the guests wanted to see as many places as possible and did not mind going over time, we visited a slightly larger number of spots than usual. At Tsukiji, the guests were delighted to see the fresh seafood. At Shinjuku Gyoen, the guests were able to see many cherry blossoms and were very pleased taking photos. As the guests wished to eat seafood, we had a meal at a restaurant near Shinjuku Gyoen. Since the guests wanted shrimp, they enjoyed shrimp tempura and were very happy. The guests had hoped to visit the observation deck at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, but when we arrived there was a very long line, so we gave up on it. We then visited Meiji Shrine, Takeshita Street in Harajuku, and Shibuya, and finished the tour after guiding the guests around Senso-ji Temple and Asakusa Shrine in Asakusa.

    What's a Private One-Day Tour of Eastern Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America who wished to see historical places and locations where cherry blossoms could be viewed. Since they had also booked a tour for the following day, on this day I focused on guiding them around the eastern areas of Tokyo. As it happened to be the period when the Inui Gate passage at the Imperial Palace was open, I suggested skipping Shibamata Taishakuten and adding this instead, and the guests agreed. Although the weather was unfortunately rainy on and off, I believe the guests were able to enjoy the day thoroughly.

    Title: What's a Private Osaka Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Osaka Castle, Shitennoji, and Tsutenkaku The group enjoyed a private tour together. From the hotel in Tenmabashi, we walked to Osaka Castle. When we entered through the Otemon Gate, the cherry blossoms were in full bloom, and the guests took many photos. One of the guests seemed very interested in architecture and examined the structures carefully. Today, for the first time, we were able to see the stone walls from the Toyotomi era at the Toyotomi Stone Wall Museum near Miraiza Osaka, which was very moving. Since the admission fee increased, this exhibit was added, and we also watched a short movie, which made our stay at Osaka Castle even longer. The guests looked at the 400-year-old stone walls with great interest. It is precisely by carefully explaining the story of the first and second Osaka Castles that the value of these underground stone walls becomes clear. On the way out, we also came across a bride and groom taking photos inside the castle grounds, and the guests took pictures as well. At Shitennoji Temple, they also listened with interest to stories about the Buddhist statues, the structure of the temple complex, the ancestral memorial rituals, and the turtles. We also rang the bell for ancestral memorial. From there we walked to Tsutenkaku, and when we stopped by the Tower of Knives, one of the guests was delighted to look at the knives. Because the group was so enthusiastic, our schedule ran a little late. At Tsutenkaku, I showed them how to take the subway back, and we parted ways.

    What Is a Private One-Day Cherry Blossom Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group from North America visiting Japan for the first time. One member of the group, who served as the leader of the trip, had extensive experience traveling to various Asian countries through their work. Unfortunately it turned into a rainy day, so everyone brought umbrellas from the Hotel before we set off. Since there was also a fair amount of wind in the morning, I kept the walking portions where we got out of the vehicle as limited to specific spots as possible. At the start, it turned out that the driver, named Vladimir, was originally from Ukraine, which drew applause from the guests and created a lively atmosphere. The guests had strong sympathies toward supporting Ukraine, and there was much conversation and warmth in the vehicle, so we were able to start with a great sense of unity. From inside the vehicle, I could hear them expressing surprise at how clean the streets of Japan were. On the way from the Hotel in Shibuya toward the Imperial Palace, we were able to see a tunnel of cherry blossoms along the central avenue of Aoyama Cemetery, and although only for a very short time, we got out and took photos. They were amazed by its beauty. What surprised them even more with the cherry blossoms was the view of Chidorigafuchi seen just after exiting the Tayasumon Gate of Kitanomaru Park. With the cherry trees blooming toward the surface of the moat and the gate in the background, they took many photos, both in smaller groups and all together. They also talked about sharing the smartphone photos each had taken in a shared album. For lunch, although they had eaten a hearty breakfast, they strongly wished to try something delicious and local. So I explained that Asakusa is famous for tempura, and we went to "Aoi Marushin," which is well known for tempura. They were very satisfied and found it delicious. They were also greatly impressed by the taste of the takuan pickles. One of the guests had ordered vegetable tempura but was served three pieces of shrimp tempura instead, which caused some initial confusion, but another guest shared their new-onion tempura, and since the shrimp tempura was also delicious, they ended up satisfied. Meiji Jingu, which I had suggested in the morning we might visit if time allowed, did not seem likely to fit within the 6-hour tour, but the group, still full of energy, said they wanted to go and could catch a taxi back on their own afterward. So we got out at the Harajuku Station side entrance of Meiji Jingu, parted with the vehicle there, and I guided them through the shrine grounds myself. Furthermore, since it matched my own way home, we headed together to Shibuya on the Yamanote Line, and I was able to see them off to the Hotel near the station. The weather was not kind, with the rain that had once stopped starting again, but perhaps because of that the tourist spots felt somewhat less crowded, and it seemed to be a tour the guests were satisfied with, having encountered the beauty of the cherry blossoms.

    What Is a Private Miyajima Walking Tour Like in Autumn? A Licensed Guide's Report Miyajima was very crowded today, with a long line even to enter Itsukushima Shrine. The guests enjoyed taking photographs, but there were waiting lines to take pictures at the Great Torii Gate and Daisho-in Temple, so it took time at various spots, and in the end there was not enough time to guide them through Senjokaku and Miyajima etto as originally planned. The guests loved traveling and shared stories of their past trips and showed me photos, so the atmosphere was friendly throughout. They had visited the Peace Memorial Park the day before, and we talked about peace education in Hiroshima. I also introduced how beautiful the autumn foliage of Miyajima is in the fall.

    What Is a Private Day Tour of Hiroshima and Miyajima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Upon arriving at Hiroshima Station, the guests said, "We'll leave the route and places to visit up to you," so I proceeded with the tour while asking about their preferences along the way. Since they mentioned they disliked crowds and waiting in lines, I explained that the Atomic Bomb Museum tends to be crowded and instead guided them to another museum where they could view exhibits in a quieter setting. As they did not have a transportation IC card and said they would pay in cash, I recommended a one-day pass that covers buses, trams, and the ferry. In Hiroshima, starting from late March, the bus system and boarding procedures became more complex — passengers must prepare the exact fare before putting it into the fare box, 1,000-yen bills can be exchanged in the machine, but new 500-yen coins require asking the driver to exchange them, making procedures cumbersome and time-consuming at each boarding and alighting. For that reason I recommended the one-day pass. As a result, boarding and alighting were easy, and the one-day pass (1,000 yen) turned out to be cheaper than paying each time, which reassured me as well. On Miyajima, although the five-story pagoda was under renovation, the guests enjoyed the torii gate and the giant rice scoop, bought chopsticks as a souvenir, and fully enjoyed strolling around the island. They also ate ice cream at a hotel and bought momiji manju. As one of the guests was cutting back on sugar, they did not have the ice cream. Although they had said lunch was optional, when I explained how okonomiyaki is made and its ingredients, they said they had been wanting to try it, so we went into an okonomiyaki restaurant near Miyajimaguchi. Since they do not eat pork, they had it made with beef instead. The guests mentioned that one of them was quite a gourmet who would not touch anything that wasn't delicious, but they told me many times that the okonomiyaki was delicious. Since they had kindly bought a one-day pass, and because the tram is one of Hiroshima's distinctive features and does not get crowded at its starting stop, we took the tram to Nishi-Hiroshima. As I wanted to pass by Peace Memorial Park, we transferred to a local bus and viewed Peace Memorial Park on the left, got off at Hondori, and strolled through the Fukuromachi Elementary School Peace Museum, Hondori, and inside Peace Memorial Park. Upon learning that after the atomic bombing people had desperately written messages on walls to search for their families, they quietly said, "That's such a sad story." While strolling through the park, they listened attentively to my explanations and took photos. Before I realized it, it was time to head to Hiroshima Station, so we took a local bus back to Hiroshima Station. As the guests said they wanted to move up their return bullet train, I guided them to the English counter at the ticket office, and the tour ended. They told me it had been a very meaningful and enjoyable day in which they learned a great deal.

    Hello! My name is Miki. I was born and brought up in Hiroshima. I enjoy traveling around Inland Sea areas and I enjoy chatting with guests from overseas!

    In Hiroshima, you can see many beautiful rivers and old bridges. Lately, I often take photos of Hiroshima city including bridges and rivers. There are not many tall buildings here, but I know some places you can visit and see the view for free. By the atomic bomb dome, there is a building called Orizuru(paper crane) Tower. You need to pay to go up to the top floor but you can see the view of Hiroshima city and the Miyajima Island(Itsukushima).

    Many tourists from overseas as well as Japan want to visit Miyajima Island. You can see a beautiful shrine from Heian Period which is around 12th century and a huge Torii gate in front of the shrine and it is in the water. There are several ways to visit the island from Hiroshima city. If you are going to stay near JR Hiroshima Station, we will visit the island by JR train and JR ferry. If you are staying in the city area, we can go there by streetcar and ferry, or there is a high-speed boat from Peace Memorial Park pier directly to the island and vise versa.

A Licensed Guide's Report The guests requested to visit Nijo Castle, Kiyomizu-dera, and Fushimi Inari Shrine. Since covering all of these seemed difficult in terms of travel time, the tour started from Nijojo-mae. The start time was also relatively late at 14:00, as the guests had departed from Tokyo in the morning. After touring Nijo Castle, we traveled by rail to Gion-Shijo, walked through Gion, and used the walking route from Ninenzaka to Sannenzaka up to Kiyomizu-dera. As the guests appeared quite tired, we decided to travel to Fushimi Inari by taxi. Fortunately, we were able to catch a taxi that had just dropped off a passenger at Chawanzaka, and we managed to visit Fushimi Inari Taisha, going all the way up to the inner shrine within our time, which the guests were very happy about. The tour ended at the nearest station to the guests' accommodation.
