Hyogo in One Day: Himeji Castle & Himeji Station

    Tour Itinerary

    • 8:40 Depart Himeji Station
    • 9:15 ~11:40 Himeji Castle (Main Keep, Hyakken Corridor)
    • 11:50 Lunch
    • 12:40~13:30 Kokoen Garden
    • 13:50~14:20 Nadagiku Sake Brewery
    • 14:50 Himeji Station

What Is a Private Himeji Castle and Sake Brewery Tour Like in Cherry Blossom Season? A Licensed Guide's Report I had let the guests know that the cherry blossom season draws large crowds, so this morning they contacted me to say they would arrive at the station a little earlier than the planned 9:00 to avoid the congestion. As a result, we were able to climb up to the castle keep before the entry restrictions came into effect. The cherry blossoms had also begun to bloom, so the guests took many photographs. Since they wished to have sushi for lunch, I took them to a popular sushi restaurant nearby. Many flowers were also in bloom at Koko-en Garden, so I believe they enjoyed it very much. After that, we returned to the station and headed to the Nadagiku Sake Brewery. The guests toured it with great interest.

    # What's a Private Day Trip from Osaka to Nara Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests' original request was to see, in addition to the deer and Nara Park, Horyuji, Yakushiji, Kofukuji, Todaiji, and Kasuga Taisha — all of them if possible. Since the five-story pagoda at Kofukuji was under repair and could not be viewed, the guests decided to give up on that one. However, beforehand we had the following exchange: "It will be difficult to fit everything else into an 8-hour tour from Osaka with a car, so would it be all right if we extended the time?" "Of course, that's fine." "Extending the time for both the car and the guide would be expensive, so how about the guide (myself) saying goodbye in Nara, and extending only the car?" During these exchanges, I also showed [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/)'s overtime extension fee regulations: Extension fee per hour for the driver and the guide is 21,000 yen. Extension fee per hour for the driver is 14,000 yen. ● Within my guiding hours, I said goodbye in Nara. I asked the driver to take the guests to their hotel in Osaka on the assumption that the time would be extended. According to the taxi company's regulations, an extension of within 30 minutes is 3,150 yen, and the guests agreed to this. Since the navigation showed considerable traffic congestion, it is unclear whether the extension was kept within 30 minutes or ended up being one hour. ● This time, since it was a tour expected not to fit within 8 hours, I was able to communicate with the guests in advance with that in mind. So here is my question. If a tour that is scheduled to finish within the time runs over due to traffic congestion or the like, what happens to the vehicle fee? (To avoid such situations, I usually allow plenty of buffer, wrap up sightseeing early, and head back with the vehicle. But there is always the risk of exceeding 8 hours.) ● The tour itself, thanks in part to the deer and the cherry blossoms, was very much enjoyed. It seems that one of the guests' relatives, who is around my age and also formerly worked in education like me, may also come to Nara. If that happens, I might be able to hear firsthand stories from the era of the civil rights movement, famous for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Hello! Thank you for choosing Nara! I bet you’ll love Nara. I specialize in Nara because Nara is the unique place where in one day you can cover the history and religions of Japan from the ancient times to the post war era while enjoying rambling in the UNESCO World Heritage park, having communication with lovely deer, surrounded with the beautiful nature.
I grew up in Nara, went university in Kyoto, enjoyed teaching at high schools and a university in Osaka. The three former capitals of Japan are home to me.
After retiring from teaching I began guiding so that I can meet various people from various corners of the world with a variety of cultures and backgrounds. Each time I guide, I find it hugely rewarding because I learn a lot from my guests sharing the history, culture and all that I know about Nara, Kyoto and Osaka.
I used to be a marathon runner, mountain climber and skier though I am not much of them anymore.
What I especially recommend is to stay in Nara a couple of days and enjoy communicating with friendly deer while visiting UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Nara in early morning, temples and shrines at night are well worth experiencing.

Title: What Can You See on a Rainy One-Day Private Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. The tour began on a day with an all-day rain forecast, so I borrowed umbrellas at the hotel, and after the guests obtained Japanese yen from the currency exchange machine in the lobby, we set off. At the guests' request, we visited Asakusa, Akihabara, Meiji Shrine, and Shinjuku Gyoen, and additionally went to the Shibuya Scramble Crossing. Akihabara had been requested, and as it turned out, it seemed the request had been made by mistake, so we simply walked through from Suehirocho Station to Akihabara while taking in the streetscape. Thanks to this, we had extra time to spare and were able to include Shibuya as well. I had wanted to show the Hachiko statue, but despite the rain there was an enormous crowd, and the umbrellas made it impossible to see the statue at all. One of the guests kindly said they did not mind not being able to see it. Meiji Shrine seemed to be the guests' favorite of everything I guided. Finally, I guided them through Shinjuku Gyoen. Despite the bad weather, the cherry blossoms were in full bloom and truly magnificent. This seemed to please the guests as well. They were scheduled to go to Nikko the next day, so I was glad to be able to show them the blossoms in Tokyo before they fell. We took a break at a tea house I had learned about during training, then returned to Sendagaya Station, hailed a taxi, and said our goodbyes. The guests had already signed up for a tour with a vehicle going forward, so they did not purchase an IC card, and we bought tickets each time instead. They planned to continue on to Nikko, Hakone, Kyoto, Himeji, and Hiroshima. I hope they have a wonderful trip.

Title: What Is a Private Nagoya Castle Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report We were able to meet a little before 10:00 and set off early. Honmaru Palace was not as crowded as I had expected, so the guests could look around in a relaxed manner. They listened attentively to the explanation of each room and asked many questions. In particular, they seemed to have watched the drama "Shogun," so they already had some background knowledge, which made it easy to talk with them. The guests said that Japan, with its culture so different from the West, was very enjoyable. They wanted to try authentic Japanese cuisine, so we went to a Japanese restaurant, where the chef was very pleasant and the food was delicious. We had a lively conversation about the baseball player Ohtani.

Hey there, I’m Masami Maeda, and I’m all about guiding you through some incredible adventures! Teaching English at high school was cool and all, but I craved something more exciting. That’s when I discovered my love for guiding.
Traveling is my jam. I’ve spent years soaking up the vibes in the US and the UK. In fact, I even did a stint at Warwick University, where I got totally hooked on Drama and Theatre Education. It was like stepping into a whole new world!
When I’m not busy showing folks around, you’ll find me doing all sorts of things. Ballet classes? Yep, I’m there. And I’m a huge fan of Japanese rakugo – both watching and performing. It’s a blast!
My style of guiding? Think of it as a mix of storytelling and cultural immersion. I want you to feel like you’re really part of the places we visit, not just an onlooker. Let’s dive deep into the heart of each destination and uncover the hidden gems together.
So, if you’re up for an adventure filled with laughter, learning, and maybe a few surprises along the way, then I’m your guide! Let’s make some unforgettable memories together!

What's a Private One-Day Kyoto Cherry Blossom Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The tour was for the guests, some of whom knew Kyoto quite well from previous visits and one who was visiting Japan for the first time. Their schedule included a one-day stop in Kyoto during their trip to attend the F1 Japanese Grand Prix. They had requested to visit Daitoku-ji and Kiyomizu-dera, but they also enjoyed other highlights of Kyoto in full cherry blossom, such as Maruyama Park and Gion Shinbashi. At Daitoku-ji, I was visiting Obai-in for the first time myself, so I was very impressed. Lunch had originally been reserved from 1:00 PM, but we changed the time so that the guests could enjoy Obai-in, which was open to the public for a special viewing. In the evening, they had a reservation at a restaurant in Gion, so I saw them off near there and the tour ended.

What Is a Private Tokyo Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, Kappabashi, Omotesando, and Shibuya The guests were a group from Europe. They were very modest and spoke English slowly, which was very helpful. Since the Hotel was in Asakusa, we started by strolling around Senso-ji Temple. Despite the weather, they enjoyed it very much. At Nakamise, one of the guests purchased souvenirs and admired the beautiful Japanese ukiyo-e prints. When I explained why everyone eagerly waves the incense smoke over various parts of their bodies at the incense burner, they happily tried it themselves. One of the guests kept asking about the difference between shrines and temples and tried hard to memorize it. At Kappabashi, since one of the guests was very interested in food samples, I introduced a sample shop, and they were delighted to purchase several samples. For lunch they had sushi, and they commented that sushi in their home city looks less beautiful because the toppings are all the same, while Japanese sushi is colorful and wonderful. I explained that in Japanese cuisine, presentation is just as important as taste, which impressed them greatly. On Omotesando, I took them to a specialty shop for hair ornaments (kanzashi), where they purchased a kanzashi and an umbrella. When I asked whether they had streets like Omotesando back home, they explained enthusiastically. On Takeshita Street, some of the guests were thrilled by an animal cafe. Finally, at Shibuya Crossing, they eagerly took photos. When we said our goodbyes, they kindly told me that although the weather was not very good, it had been a very enjoyable day. That is all.

What Is a Private Family Walking Tour of Osaka Like? A Licensed Guide's Report It was a pleasure to spend the day with the group. Near the hotel, we visited Doguyasuji and looked at the food samples, and they bought a few souvenirs. At Kuromon Market, we saw lobsters, crabs, pufferfish, and more. One of the guests said they wanted to try white strawberries, so they enjoyed skewers of white, pink, and red strawberries. Osaka Castle was very crowded around midday. We took many photos under the cherry blossom trees within the grounds and with the castle in the background. It was charming to see one of the guests strike various cool poses for the camera. Finally, at Dotonbori, we took a photo doing the Glico pose before parting ways.

Hi! I’m an official English guide in Wakayama prefecture. I’m also a national guide as well. I’d like to expand my guide area to help tourists.
The town of Osaka offers a different atmosphere than Tokyo. I like both exciting Osaka and nature-filled Wakayama Prefecture.
If you stay in Osaka for 3 days, you can go to Koyasan for one day, or even for a day trip, so I recommend sightseeing at Koyasan.
If you are tired of the hustle and bustle of the big city, the nature of Koyasan will relax you.
I will introduce you to the unique culture, history and must-see sights.

The guests arrived on a cruise ship. Originally, the tour was planned to begin at the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, but on the evening before the tour the guests contacted me, and we decided to skip the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge and instead visit Kobe Nunobiki Herb Garden. We brought one wheelchair to Kobe Nunobiki Herb Garden. One of the guests who used the wheelchair normally walks using two walking sticks, but for the long slopes of the Herb Garden they used the wheelchair to get around. One of the guests especially loved flowers and took many photographs. After the Herb Garden, we went to Kobe Harborland (Umie Mozaic) and had lunch. After lunch, a guest other than the one using the wheelchair felt tired in the legs, so I drove this guest to the port terminal and then resumed the tour from Harborland. After Harborland, we went to Nankinmachi and Motomachi Shopping Street, where the guests enjoyed shopping. The guest who had used the wheelchair walked using only the two walking sticks. During the shopping, the guests said they wanted to return to the cruise ship, so we went back to the port terminal and ended the tour. I believe the guests enjoyed today's tour, at least reasonably well.

What Does a Private Full-Day Tokyo Tour Cover? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, the Imperial Palace, and Meiji Shrine The guests were visitors from North America, and it was their first time in Japan. After sightseeing in Tokyo, they planned to depart on a cruise tour around Japan starting in a couple of days. At Senso-ji Temple, they listened with great interest to explanations about the differences between temples and shrines, and they purchased a bag along Nakamise Street. At the Imperial Palace, they were intrigued by historical explanations about the role of the Emperor, the Meiji Restoration, and the Edo Shogunate. At Shinjuku Gyoen, they enjoyed strolling among the cherry blossoms in full bloom and the beautiful Japanese garden. At Meiji Shrine, they appeared to be deeply impressed by the quiet and solemn atmosphere. Although it rained unfortunately today, I responded to the guests' wishes as requested, so I believe they were satisfied.
