    What Is a Private Walking Tour of Naoshima Island Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The tour was for guests visiting from Oceania. On this trip, they planned to spend time in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Naoshima (with their accommodation near Uno Port), and Hiroshima in May. They had visited Japan several times before, coming to Niseko and Moiwa in Hokkaido for skiing. This time, instead of using the Benesse shuttle bus, they walked the entire way from Tsutsujiso to the Chichu Art Museum, stopping at art museums along the route, and both of them were energetic and had no trouble at all. They loved the atmosphere of the Chichu Art Museum. They also visited five of the Art House Project sites and were delighted to see the old traditional Japanese houses. It was a little warm, but we were blessed with good weather, and I believe they were able to fully enjoy their day on Naoshima.

So, I have been a licensed guide for about 5 years. My favorite destinations are Naoshima, Teshima, Ritsurin Garden, the top of Mt. Yashima and so on.     Because the guests wished to avoid crowds as much as possible, the guided tour began early at 7:30 in the morning. As it was already well into their trip in Japan, the guests appeared a little tired, but they toured actively and happily took many photos. For lunch we had udon, and the guests were satisfied with both the atmosphere of the restaurant and the portion size. Since they had a tea ceremony experience reserved at Sannenzaka from 16:00, I saw them to the venue for the experience and concluded the tour there. The guests commented that they had a wonderful time, and they seemed very pleased.

    What's a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like for First-Time Visitors? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan from North America. It was everyone's first time in Kyoto. I took them to Fushimi Inari, Kiyomizu-dera (including the Yasaka Pagoda and Koshin-do), Sanjusangen-do, and Chishaku-in. They had also requested a visit to the bamboo grove in Arashiyama, but since it was not possible time-wise, I took them to the bamboo path at Fushimi Inari instead. Since there were younger members in the group, I made sure to include a coffee break and ice cream break near the Yasaka Pagoda. Today was a holiday, and the approach to Kiyomizu-dera in particular was so crowded that it was almost impossible to move. Everyone seemed to have their own favorite spots, but overall Sanjusangen-do and Kiyomizu-dera were the most popular.

    What Is a Private Walking Tour of Kyoto Like Using Public Transport? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan. Anticipating their dietary needs, I had scouted restaurants in advance, but in the end they only enjoyed street food and did not use a restaurant. What they tried were a whole pickled cucumber on a stick, ice cream, and otabe. Since it was a group, we used public transportation, which allowed us to cover a wide area efficiently. The guests loved taking photos and captured commemorative pictures together at various spots, which made them very happy. Although the walking distance was quite long, everyone in the group did their best to keep walking, and I believe we were able to enjoy the kind of detailed sightseeing that is only possible on foot.

    Title: What Is a Private Kurama and Kifune Hiking Tour in Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America, together with one member of the group living in Kazaoka, and they had visited Japan many times before. Since one member of the group understood only Japanese, there were several occasions where I first explained in English and then repeated the explanation in Japanese for that person. One of the guests spoke very quickly and talked a great deal, often chatting with other tourists they met for the first time during the tour, so it was sometimes difficult to find the right timing to give explanations at each site. At Kurama-dera, we used the cable car for the ascent. From Kurama to Kifune, we walked along the mountain trail. Along the way, the gap between those at the front and those at the back grew large, so I moved back and forth between them to make sure no one got separated. In the end, the mountain hike alone took about an hour. At Kifune Shrine, the guests worshipped at the main hall, and afterward some of the guests did the water fortune-telling, so I translated the contents for them. At Shimogamo Shrine, the guests seemed interested in the story of the shrine's founding and its connection to the Imperial family. During the tour, I explained the proper way to purify oneself at the water basin at Kurama-dera, and it was memorable that from then on some of the guests kept wanting to perform the purification ritual at every water basin.

    What's a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour of Tsukiji, Yanaka, and Akihabara Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group from North America who had arrived in Japan the previous night, and it was their first visit to Japan. Their reply about the day's plans finally came the day before, and I learned that from May 30 they would be joining a 12-day group tour that visits Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto, Nara, Hiroshima, and Osaka. At the guests' request, and to avoid overlapping with the places that group tour would cover, today I guided them around Tsukiji Market, Yanaka, and Akihabara. At Tsukiji Market, since one of the guests was not fond of sushi, I guided them to the food court in Tsukiji Market for lunch, where they enjoyed pork and gyoza, while another of the guests happily enjoyed a tekka-don rice bowl. In Tsukiji, I guided them around Tsukiji Market, Namiyoke Shrine, and Tsukiji Hongwanji Temple, which they seemed to find very interesting. I explained the differences between shrines and temples and the ways to worship at each, and they seemed to understand well. Today the temperature rose to about 30 degrees during the day, and when I guided them around Yanaka Ginza and Yanaka Cemetery, they seemed a little tired from the heat. Even so, at Yanaka Ginza they purchased some Japanese tea and tea cups. In Akihabara, I guided them to a large electronics store and an anime goods shop. As some of the guests are interested in Japanese manga, they browsed with great interest, especially looking for souvenir T-shirts at the anime goods shop. Despite the heat, the guests seemed to spend a very meaningful and enjoyable first day of their trip in Japan.

    After graduation from the university, I started working at American Life Insurance Company, Japan (Alico, Japan), which is a group member company of AIG, now MetLife Insurance Company. I could have a chance to visit the head office and the field offices of U.S.A., Wilmington in Delaware, New York, Boston, Chicago, Fort Lauderdale in Florida, Los Angeles, while I was working for Alico, Japan (Now, MetLife Insurance company).
    I had been working for MetLife Insurance Company for about 38 years, in total.
    After retiring from the life insurance company, I started working as a tour guide, because I wanted to become a tour guide to introduce culture, history, and manners and customs of Japan in English. It’s so different between my previous job and the guide business, but I like guide business a lot.
    I can meet so many people from all over the world and the guide business has been thriving after the pandemic.

    Not only Tokyo, but I have experienced touring around Nikko, Kamakura, Mt. Fuji & Hakone area, Takayama, Kanazawa, Nagoya, Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, and Hiroshima, etc. which are all very famous as a tourist spot in Japan.
    If you go on a tour in Tokyo, you must see and visit Asakusa Sensoji Temple which is the oldest Buddhist Temple in Tokyo with histories and Nakamise Shopping Street where you can buy the souvenirs and try to taste Japanese sweets, such as doll cake which is the sponge cake in various shapes filled with red bean paste and Japanese powdered tea ice cream. Another my recommendation in Tokyo to visit is Meiji Shrine, Harajuku, and Shibuya. Meiji Shrine is one of the biggest shrines in Japan with quiet and peaceful atmosphere and magnificent site.
    Harajuku and Shibuya are both fun to visit for shopping and experience the Shibuya Crossing.
    I usually propose my tentative itinerary and ask if my plan is all right with the customer or not. My hobby is traveling around Japan and foreign countries and going to the gym for exercise.
    I would like to work as a guide as long as possible if I’m in good health and my legs are strong, because I love this job.
    I put my importance on the mind of OMOTENASHI which means sincere hospitality, though safety during the tour takes precedence, number one priority, before anything else.

They had already visited Tokyo, Kanazawa, Kyoto, Nara, and Osaka, and were planning to return home soon, and they seemed to be thoroughly enjoying their trip in Japan. The weather was beautiful, and Shukkeien Garden had very few tourists, so it was pleasantly quiet and we could take our time enjoying the lovely scenery. The guests enjoyed observing the fish in the pond and found some crabs, taking photos of them. They also said that the okonomiyaki they tried for the first time was delicious. Although there were groups of students at the Peace Memorial Museum, we managed to see the exhibits. The guests were impressed by the beauty of the Peace Park and its axis of peace. We visited the Children's Peace Monument and the Atomic Bomb Dome before saying goodbye.

    What Is a Private Otaru Walking Tour Like, Including a Sake Brewery Visit? A Licensed Guide's Report While proposing the itinerary, I asked the guests whether they would like to visit a sake brewery where they could observe the sake-making process and enjoy a tasting, and they said they would love to go, so I included it in the itinerary. However, the brewery is located about 2 kilometers from Otaru Station, and since walking that distance can be difficult for some, it usually requires a taxi. On this occasion, the guests seemed completely comfortable with walking, so I was able to guide them through the entire itinerary with peace of mind. At the sake brewery, they were very pleased to experience the sake-making process and to taste a variety of different types of sake.

    What's a Private Walking Tour of Meiji Shrine, Harajuku, and Shibuya Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America who had arrived in Japan the previous evening. Beforehand I proposed several possible routes, and they chose a plan that mainly covered Meiji Shrine, Harajuku, and Shibuya on foot. They had each prepared a mobile SUICA and wanted to learn how to use public transportation. The guests had traveled internationally many times and were familiar with foreign travel. They seemed to enjoy trying a variety of dishes at the Japanese and Western breakfast buffet. On the way to Meiji Shrine, I gave an overview of Japanese history and explained how the shrine was established. The way the shrine's forest was created and how it looks today made a particularly strong impression, and the guests talked about wanting to come back and walk here during a quiet time. Along Takeshita Street there were many shops selling character goods from Japan and North America that the guests liked, and they were delighted. For a guest interested in art, I introduced the Ota Memorial Museum of Art. One of the guests mentioned being very fond of the film "Perfect Days," so on the way walking to Shibuya we passed by one of the public restrooms featured in the movie. In Shibuya we crossed the famous scramble crossing, and I guided them to Cyberspace Shibuya in Parco. Finally, for a hands-on lesson in using the subway, we rode the Tokyo Metro.

    What's a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like from Tokyo by Bullet Train? A Licensed Guide's Report This was a private one-day tour in Kyoto for a group visiting from North America. During our prior communication, they had shared everything with me in advance, including that they would arrive from Tokyo by bullet train, the places they wished to visit, and that they would have dinner around Kyoto Station. Before we parted ways, since some of the guests preferred meat and others preferred sushi, I guided them to a restaurant near Kyoto Station that offers both sushi and Japanese cuisine, so that everyone could enjoy the meal.     I am an experienced guide, who live in Osaka. I have been a Government-Licensed Guide in English since 2018. I have already guided a lot of tourists overseas in Kansai Area, that is, in the vicinity of my prefecture, Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Kobe, and Himeji. I am especially good at guiding in Kansai Area with sufficient knowledge of history, culture and transportation. I have guided people ranging from a small group of one or two to a group of 20-50 people in a big bus, that is, a coach. I like delicious food, because Osaka is a city of Kuidaorre, which means that people in Osaka love to eat and never spend too much money on food.
