They arrived earlier in the week and had already visited Meiji Shrine, Gotokuji Temple, and Akihabara on their own over the previous two days. On the morning of the tour day they visited Skytree, and after this tour they planned to visit Shibuya Sky at 8:00 in the evening, so it appeared to be quite a packed schedule. The guests requested that they wanted to try a variety of Tokyo street foods, from sweet to savory, so we stopped at shops one after another around the Nakamise area. At the end of Asakusa I was thinking of recommending monjayaki, but they seemed to have become full before we reached it. The day was hot and humid, with a heat index reaching 33, so I was concerned about the guests' condition, but there was a bit of a breeze, so we carried out the tour by choosing shaded areas and stepping into cool shops along the way. However, around 5:00 p.m. they understandably began to feel tired and wished to return to the hotel once before heading to Shibuya Sky. So we first went back to the Culture and Tourism Center, where they rested at the café on the 8th floor, and then headed to Shinjuku, where the hotel was located. As it happened to coincide with rush hour, I, the guide, accompanied them all the way to Shinjuku to make the journey as stress-free as possible.

What Is a Private Nakasendo Hiking Tour from Magome to Tsumago Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group of two visiting from Europe. As I met them right after a major sporting event victory, they seemed to be in very high spirits from the start. They mentioned that they hike regularly in their home region and were very much looking forward to this experience. After arriving in Magome, we took commemorative photos at the trail markers and at the Furusato Hiroba, and then started the hike. Along the way, as soon as they spotted bamboo, they were delighted, as it is apparently not something they see in their home region. Elsewhere, we came across various stone monuments, and they asked "What is that?" several times, so I explained each one according to the situation. At Kumano Shrine, I demonstrated the full sequence of how to worship, from entering through the torii gate to exiting, and then had the guests try it themselves afterward. At Odaki and Medaki (the male and female waterfalls), they were able to take some wonderful photos and seemed very satisfied. It happened to be the day the end of the rainy season was announced, with the temperature reaching a high of 35°C, but I took measures against the heat throughout, and I was glad we were able to complete the hike without any major problems. At Tsumago-juku, over lunch, we talked about the guests' overall travel plans in Japan and about Japanese food. They also enjoyed the atmosphere. Afterward, they said they wanted to eat chestnut ice cream, so I guided them to it. At the tourist information center, I explained the Nakasendo — its distance, the number of days it takes to walk, and the number of inns along the way — before we left Tsumago. Since the guests had a JR Pass, we were able to handle the train smoothly. I saw them off at their hotel, and we parted ways with smiles as we looked back on the journey together.

What Is a Private First-Day Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, Skytree, and Shibuya Sky This was a private first-day tour in Japan for guests from Europe. After Tokyo, the group planned to visit Mount Fuji, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima, and Kanazawa. At the Asakusa Culture Tourist Information Center, there was a free event hosted by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government where visitors could try Edo woodblock printing. Since I had heard that a lunch break was not necessary and we had some extra time, and because it looked interesting, we decided to take part. It turned out to be quite authentic, the timing was good, and since it was indoors, the guests were very pleased. I had been told it would take 30 minutes, but it ended up taking about 50 minutes, so the latter half of the tour became a little rushed. For some reason, the group wanted to visit both Skytree and Shibuya Sky, and since Shibuya Sky had a reserved time slot, I felt a bit pressed. I adjusted by keeping the time spent at both places relatively short. After Shibuya Sky, the group suddenly said they wanted to visit Meiji Shrine, so we went there, and then they wanted to return to Shibuya, so we parted ways in Shibuya. They were quite free-spirited, but they were friendly and pleasant people, so the tour ended on a very good note.

Title: What Is a Private Hakone Day Tour from Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Although arrival from Tokyo was delayed by more than an hour due to traffic, the group set off in good spirits. From the ropeway, thick fog meant that for a while only the rope itself was visible, which was unfortunate, but it created its own mysterious atmosphere. On the pirate ship, the guests tried the local black eggs. Because of the high humidity, the skies over Hakone have recently been constantly covered in deep fog, so Mount Fuji did not make an appearance. Even so, I did my best to take photos for the guests with the red torii gate and the pirate ship in the background. The presentation at the local shop was, as always, enjoyable and well received. The guests all loved Japanese food and finished everything they each ordered at the rice bowl teahouse.

**Title:** What's a Private First-Day Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on the East Gardens, Asakusa, and Meiji Shrine **Body:** This was a private first-day tour in Tokyo for guests visiting from Europe. They mentioned that in three days they would be starting a 12-day cruise and would also visit the Nebuta Festival in Aomori. Because an extreme heat warning had been issued, I suggested changing the planned locations the day before, but since the guests really wanted to visit the East Gardens, Asakusa, and Meiji Shrine, we decided to proceed while taking extra care. After viewing the Ninomaru Garden, I asked whether they would like to see the keep foundation or exit through the Hirakawa Gate. Since one of the guests wanted to see the keep foundation, we headed that way, but partway up Shiomizaka slope, one of the guests felt dizzy and sat down to rest. Their face was very flushed, so I believe they were on the verge of heatstroke. We stayed in the shade, took in fluids, and I offered salt candy and a cooling sheet, and fortunately it did not become serious. The guest was surprised to have felt unwell despite having been fine in hot places before—perhaps due to the humidity and fatigue after a long journey—and regretted not following the guide's advice. We cooled down on the subway, took a lunch break in Asakusa, and the guests were very satisfied with the sushi they had requested. Along the way we stopped at a drugstore, where they purchased salt candy and cooling sheets. At Meiji Shrine, they received a charm for career success for their family member who is about to graduate from university. We walked across the Shibuya crossing they had wanted to see, took in the view from the 12th floor of Shibuya Scramble Square, and I saw them off at the JR platform, bringing the tour to a safe conclusion. The guests were very grateful, and as a pleasant surprise, they offered to write a review themselves.

What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like in Summer? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests this time were a group visiting Japan from North America during their trip. I communicated with one of the guests in advance about the itinerary and other details. We traveled to the first stop, Kiyomizu-dera Temple, by bus as originally planned, passing through popular streets such as Ninen-zaka and Sannen-zaka before arriving at Kiyomizu-dera. However, just as we were about to begin touring Kiyomizu-dera, some of the guests said they would skip the temple grounds and browse the souvenir shops along the approach instead, so they went their own way. I imagined they may not have been able to bear the intense heat and crowds, but in my nearly ten years of guiding experience, this was the first time I had encountered such a case of the group splitting up. As a result, the tour of Kiyomizu-dera continued with the remaining members of the group. The effects of the extreme heat also showed in a change of transportation. According to the plan, the next leg to Sanjusangendo was to take about ten minutes by bus, but the guests were reluctant to walk to the bus stop, so they called a large taxi themselves and we traveled by taxi instead. Another instance of some guests going their own way occurred at Sanjusangendo. Naturally, whenever entering the main hall of a temple, one must remove their shoes, but one of the guests did not seem convinced, asking why they had to take off their shoes, and said they would rather not tour it if it meant removing their shoes. As a result, one of the group waited outside the main hall to accompany them. I imagined this behavior may have come from being quite tired after a long journey. In this flow, the final move to Fushimi Inari Taisha was also by taxi. At Fushimi Inari, there was no need to remove shoes, and drawn in by the colorful torii gates, it became the first part of the tour that the entire group joined together. However, due to the delays in the first half of the tour, by the time we finished visiting Fushimi Inari Taisha it was already 2:00 p.m., the scheduled end of the guiding. According to the original plan, I was to see the guests off to their hotel at the end, but the guests kindly told me, "Thank you for guiding us this far. You may finish here," so we ended the guided tour on the spot. In any case, guiding a tour in such extreme heat was quite demanding.

We then went to Shibuya, experienced the Shibuya Crossing, and had a meal at a conveyor-belt sushi restaurant. They said that although there are sushi restaurants back home, this one was more delicious and more fun, and they were very pleased. After that, they wished to visit the Pokemon Center, so I guided them to the shopping complex and concluded the tour there. I had been concerned about heatstroke, but I was glad it ended safely. I believe the guests enjoyed themselves.

A Licensed Guide's Report The guests reportedly departed their hotel in Kyoto around 8:50, and I met them at the Osaka Museum of History around 10:20. After the visit, I learned that the guests had relatives living in Osaka, including a student attending a high school near Osaka Castle. Since it happened to be a half-day at school, the guests asked me to make contact so they could meet, even briefly. As things unfolded, more of their relatives also arranged to come. As a result, the afternoon plans changed considerably and became a warm gathering with relatives in Japan, extending the tour by 30 minutes. After checking into their hotel, the guests returned to meet up again, so I feel it turned out well in the end.

What Is a Private Kyoto Arashiyama Tour Like in Summer? A Licensed Guide's Report An agency was acting as an intermediary between the guests and me, and their contact details were not shared until the day before. We hurriedly discussed and finalized the itinerary the day before. The phone number assigned by the agency had a country code of 39, so I had assumed the guests were from Europe, but in fact they were from North America. The guests were from North America and were visiting Japan for the first time. They had been friends for about ten years. The trip was to celebrate a milestone. The tour was conducted in extreme heat approaching 40 degrees Celsius (the road surface actually exceeded 40 degrees), so we were careful to stay hydrated throughout. What's a Private Taxi Tour of Kyoto Like in Summer? A Licensed Guide's Report Today I guided the guests, who came from a hot region in North America. Considering the severe heat, with a forecast high of nearly 40°C, I suggested a sightseeing plan using a taxi to reduce the physical strain, and this allowed us to visit many spots efficiently, which the guests were very satisfied with. In the latter half, some fatigue from the heat was noticeable, so we cancelled the originally planned visit to the Gion Festival and, at the guests' request, changed the itinerary to Kiyomizu-dera Temple. I also provided useful information for their sightseeing this evening and the following day.
