A notable stop on the tour was Owakudani in Hakone. Owakudani is a volcanic valley created by the eruption of Mount Hakone thousands of years ago, where visitors can see steam vents and sulfurous hot springs rising from the ground. It is especially famous for its black eggs, which are boiled in the hot spring waters, turning their shells black, and are said to add years to one's life when eaten. On clear days, Owakudani also offers spectacular views of Mount Fuji, making it one of the most popular stops in the Hakone area.

A Licensed Guide's Report Because we were able to meet up a little earlier than scheduled and took shorter breaks, we finished a bit earlier than planned. The guests were very calm, listened attentively, and were easy to guide. They were used to walking more than two hours at a time and had no trouble with the slopes. Along the way I suggested stopping at a cafe for a rest, but since it was almost lunchtime, they were fine with just sitting down briefly for a short while. The guests were quite fond of the black cat and white cat plush toys, and their spirits really lifted at the spot related to the courier delivery service! Since they loved cats, we walked while talking about the cats of Onomichi, including their territorial disputes. At the Onomichi City Museum of Art, when I told the story of the standoff between a cat named Ken-chan and the security guard, that very guard happened to be at the entrance, so I was able to introduce him, saying, "This is the person!" They also showed great interest in the salt artwork exhibited inside, and even tried a little themselves. The guests were very kind, and it turned out to be an enjoyable day for me as well. Thank you very much. A notable stop on the tour was the Onomichi City Museum of Art. Located in the hillside city of Onomichi in Hiroshima Prefecture, the museum offers views over the Seto Inland Sea and is well known for its connection to cats, which roam freely around the surrounding streets. The museum has become famous for the playful interactions between local cats and its security staff, drawing cat lovers from around the world, and it regularly hosts a variety of art exhibitions that reflect the character of this charming port town.

    Title: What Can You See on a Full-Day Private Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, Ueno, Akihabara, and Harajuku Body: I guided a group from North America on a full-day private tour of Tokyo. Before the tour, the guests had requested that I accommodate a gluten-free requirement and that I include both the main sightseeing highlights and other places important for first-time visitors to Japan, so I sent a proposed itinerary in reply. I had also let them know in advance to arrive at the meeting point ten minutes before the start time and shared easy-to-recognize details so they could identify me as their guide. At our meeting, we reviewed the itinerary together and started the tour on time (the guests had already downloaded the PASMO/SUICA app in advance). Just after 9:00, Asakusa was pleasantly uncrowded and ideal for strolling. While explaining the key sights and sharing some information about Buddhism, including comparisons with other Buddhist countries the guests had visited before, I guided them through the various streets and on to Kappabashi. Although it was before the 10:00–11:00 opening hours, Kappabashi was full of local atmosphere with its clustered kitchenware shops. I also pointed out a gluten-free cafe tucked away on a back street. In Ueno, the autumn warmth had even brought some cherry blossoms into bloom. I guided them starting from the Toshogu Shrine, known as the "miraculous golden hall," and the five-story pagoda. There were lines in front of the dahlia garden and the main hall (paid entry). After showing them Benten Island and Bentendo Hall, we walked around Shinobazu Pond and then headed from Ueno to Akihabara. Before lunch, we strolled along Chuo-dori. The gluten-free restaurant, which is usually crowded on weekends, was luckily open, so we were able to enter and order smoothly. I joined the table as well, and we chatted for a while about Japanese anime enjoyed in childhood, how Japanese-style pizza is popular abroad, and other plans in Tokyo as well as destinations outside Tokyo. I also guided them around Higashi-Shinjuku as another not-to-be-missed highlight. After that, I showed them Meiji Shrine and Harajuku. As we reached the end of our time, I carefully confirmed the destination and approximate fare with the driver at the taxi stand, relayed this to the guests, and we parted ways with smiles.

    Title: What's a Private Tokyo Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Nezu, Yanaka, and Akihabara The guests were a group from North America. They had arrived by cruise ship the previous day at Tokyo International Cruise Terminal and were returning home this evening. As an icebreaker I asked a lighthearted question, and we quickly grew comfortable with each other, with most of the conversation during the tour taking place with one of the guests. Since this was their third visit to Japan, the itinerary followed my suggestions, with the exception of Akihabara, which the guests specifically requested. At Nezu Shrine there were many families visiting for Shichi-Go-San celebrations, and after asking the parents' permission, the guests happily took many photos of the children. They were pleased to discover a different side of Tokyo along Hebi-michi (Snake Road), but on the other hand, Yanaka Ginza now has many shops aimed at international visitors and felt somewhat faded. I may need to reconsider whether to recommend Yanaka Ginza going forward. At Koishikawa Korakuen Garden, the Engetsukyo (Full Moon Bridge) created a clear reflection of a half-moon on the water's surface (photo), which delighted them. At the Radio Kaikan building in Akihabara they were able to buy what they were looking for, and after I introduced some other shops, they said they could explore on their own, so we parted ways. A notable stop on the tour was Koishikawa Korakuen Garden. Koishikawa Korakuen is one of Tokyo's oldest and most celebrated traditional Japanese landscape gardens, dating back to the early Edo period in the 17th century. The garden was designed to recreate famous scenic views from both Japan and China in miniature, incorporating ponds, hills, and carefully placed stones. Its Engetsukyo, or Full Moon Bridge, is a famous stone arch that forms a complete circle when its reflection appears on the calm water below, making it a popular spot for photographs throughout the seasons.

    Title: What's a Full-Day Private Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Skytree, Asakusa, and Shibuya The guests were a group visiting Japan for the first time from North America. This was their first time in Japan, and they were on a vacation of about twelve days. In addition to Tokyo, they planned to visit Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, and Hiroshima, then return to Tokyo before heading home. They had arrived at Narita Airport on a direct flight, taking a limousine bus to their accommodation. The previous day, they had taken a day trip to Hakone. The tour took place under clear skies, in weather that was almost hot. From Shinagawa Station, we first headed to Tokyo Skytree. Despite the early hour, it was very crowded, so I waited in front of the descending elevator. They commented, "Even under clear skies, the clouds were too thick to see Mount Fuji," and "Now I really understand how vast and sprawling a city Tokyo is." After that, we went to Asakusa. We took commemorative photos at Kaminarimon and various other spots. Amid the crowds of tourists, we strolled slowly along the Nakamise shopping street. There were questions such as "What is Buddhism?", "What is the difference between Buddhism and Shinto?", "What are Japan's main religions?", "How many Buddhists are there in Japan?", and "Besides Buddhism, what other religions do people follow?" We then moved to the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace. I explained topics such as "Japan's history from the Edo to the Meiji period," "the Meiji Restoration," "why Edo Castle became the Imperial Palace," "the history and current state of the Imperial family," "World War II and the Tokyo air raids," and "how the stone walls were built." There were questions such as "Does the current Emperor of Japan hold any political power?", "Who will be the next Emperor?", "Can a woman become Emperor?", and "Is it not possible to see the Imperial Palace directly?" There was also a question about "how the stones for the stone walls were transported." Next, we went to Meiji Shrine. Again, I explained about "Shinto," "torii gates," "Emperor Meiji," "why sake barrels are displayed," and "why wine barrels are displayed." There were questions such as "What kind of religion is Shinto?", "How do Buddhism and Shinto differ?", and "Why did Shinto arise in Japan?" As they seemed a little tired, we took a break at Forest Terrace Meiji Jingu. We then moved to Shibuya. From the platform area of the Keio Line, we looked out at the Scramble Crossing, and afterward actually crossed it. They remarked that it reminded them of a large city. We also took photos in front of the Hachiko statue. As they seemed a little tired, we took a break at a coffee shop. There were comments and questions such as "The city is clean and there is no litter on the ground," "There are no trash bins on the streets—why is that?", and "The subway is complex but very well made." I saw them off from Shibuya to Shinagawa Station, where the tour concluded. A notable stop on the tour was Meiji Shrine. Meiji Shrine is a Shinto shrine in Tokyo dedicated to the deified spirits of Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken. Surrounded by a lush forest of around 100,000 trees donated from across Japan, it offers a peaceful retreat in the heart of the city.     In the past, I was stationed in Canada, the United States, and Mexico as an expatriate of a Japanese bank for over 11 years.
    Since I have been mainly involved in the financing business in the United States for a long time, I think I am able to provide interpretation and translation services related to business and finance.

    In addition, for three years from April 2016, I will be engaged in Japanese-English translation work (part-time), and I can also handle translation work.

    One more, I have a separate house near Asuka Village, Nara prefecture, and I stay there for a total of about 30 days every year and have been enjoying sightseeing personally in the vicinity.     Title: What's a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like? Imperial Palace, Asakusa, and Ueno — A Licensed Guide's Report We met at the Hotel as planned. I should have checked while we were still at the Hotel, but it became clear only as we approached the station that the guest had neither cash nor a physical credit card, only a credit card stored on a smartphone, so no IC card or ticket could be purchased at the station. We returned to the Hotel together so the guest could bring a physical (plastic) credit card. In the end, we were able to withdraw Japanese yen in cash from the card at a Seven Bank ATM at the station, and with that we bought a PASMO and were finally able to set off. To enter the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, perhaps because it was a fine Sunday, there was quite a long line for the security check before we finally got in. The guest seemed genuinely impressed that such a green space exists in the heart of the city. The guest did not take many photos in general, but did take some at the Ninomaru Garden and seemed to really like it. In Asakusa, after enjoying the view from Azumabashi Bridge, we had a tempura lunch. The guest said "delicious" many times and finished everything, so I believe it was well enjoyed. At Denbo-in, the Golden Dragon Dance (held only twice a year) was taking place that day, so we were able to see it at just the right timing, which also seemed to please the guest. At Ueno Park as well, the guest was impressed by the environment surrounded by greenery. A notable stop on the tour was the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace. These gardens are part of the former site of Edo Castle and are open to the public free of charge, offering a peaceful landscape of lawns, traditional Japanese gardens, and the remaining stone foundations of the castle keep. The Ninomaru Garden within the grounds is a beautifully maintained Japanese-style garden that showcases seasonal plants and tranquil ponds in the middle of central Tokyo.

    What's a Private Toyosu Tuna Auction and Tsukiji Market Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan from North America. They were both impressed by how smoothly and quickly the tuna auction proceeded. We roughly estimated the number of tuna lined up at the auction site, calculated together how many pieces of tuna sushi could be made from them, and enjoyed predicting the bidding prices with one another. One of the guests had a severe shellfish allergy, and even a small amount could cause difficulty breathing, so I asked the chef at a sushi restaurant I know well to make sure not to prepare their sushi with hands that had touched shellfish. Seeing the chef carefully wash his hands each time he handled shellfish, the guest was pleased and said, "This is reassuring." At Tsukiji, we visited an intermediate wholesaler's shop and saw how the seafood traded at the market is sold. The guests admired how beautifully the seafood was displayed at the wholesaler's shop. A notable stop on the tour was Tsukiji Outer Market. Tsukiji remains one of Tokyo's most famous food destinations, known for its bustling rows of shops selling fresh seafood, produce, and traditional Japanese kitchen goods. Although the inner wholesale market relocated to Toyosu, the Tsukiji Outer Market continues to thrive, offering visitors a chance to sample local delicacies, watch skilled vendors at work, and experience the energy of one of Japan's most celebrated culinary areas.

It was an autumn Sunday, so crowds and traffic congestion were expected, but the driver chose the routes skillfully, and we were able to proceed as planned.
