What's a Half-Day Private Tour of Nagoya Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on the Toyota Museum and Atsuta Shrine The guests were a group visiting from Africa. During our prior communication, they had especially requested the Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology and Atsuta Shrine, so I arranged an itinerary that matched their wishes. Since the group was fairly large, I guided them smoothly through the entire itinerary using public transportation and on foot rather than by taxi, which they were very pleased with. At the Toyota Commemorative Museum, with the cooperation of the museum staff, detailed explanations were given about the exhibits in the Textile Machinery Pavilion and the Automobile Pavilion, which helped the guests deepen their understanding. For a half-day guide, the content was more than full and rich, and the guests were very happy with it.

What Is a Private Kyoto Walking Tour Like in Summer? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. They had a very strong interest in Japanese history and asked me many questions I would never have expected, so I even asked the taxi driver about some of them, which was a great learning experience for me as well. However, Kyoto was extremely hot today, and simply walking made us sweat, so there were times when it was quite difficult and I was not always able to give proper explanations. I made an effort to let them cool down at a Kiyomizu-yaki pottery shop and to make sure they drank plenty of water. We parted ways at Ninenzaka, but I believe they enjoyed the day, including a conveyor-belt sushi lunch.

Hi there, I’m Yuka. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I live in an onsen (hot spring) town in Hyogo prefecture. When I was working at Narita international airport as well as living in Bangkok Thailand for about 10 years, I really loved talking with people from various countries. After I came back to Japan, I got interested in guiding my beautiful country to people from abroad then I got the national guide license. I’m now working as a tour leader visiting mainly Tokyo, Hakone, Takayama, Hiroshima, Himeji and Kyoto for about 2 years. I’d like to introduce my country to you as your local friend in Japan. Hope to see you soon.

What Does a Private Food-Focused Day Tour of Tokyo Look Like? A Licensed Guide's Report I guided a group visiting from North America. Since one of the guests was a foodie, the tour centered around eating. The day before, we learned that they had already seen Asakusa, which had been on the plan, so instead we decided to visit a covered shopping mall in Nakano to stay out of the sun. When we first met, they had not yet had breakfast, so we bought fried chicken, onigiri, and other items at a convenience store and ate outside. One of the guests tried onigiri for the first time and really liked the salmon and tuna-mayonnaise flavors. When I introduced Kimuraya in Ginza, one of the guests was delighted, saying they had come to Ginza the day before just to visit but it had been closed, and they bought a lot of bread. Since they were also looking forward to lunch, I took them to Yoshiike Shokudo, where you can choose from a variety of dishes, and they enjoyed a large tempura udon, a large katsu curry, fried tofu, shumai, and draft beer. They liked it as a great restaurant. At Ameyoko they bought Japanese snacks at Niki no Kashi and drank tapioca drinks at a shop along the street. After stopping by Tokudaiji, they no longer seemed interested in shrines and temples, so we then headed to Nakano and saw Sun Mall and Broadway. Since it is a place with few tourists and many locals, they were very pleased. Everyone was friendly and wonderful, and we had a great time together.

What's a Private One-Day Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Shibuya, Tsukiji, Tokyo Tower, and Asakusa The guests were a family group. Because they were a distinctive group, they were easy to spot in the hotel lobby, which was helpful. Since everyone had a Suica card, we first traveled to Shibuya Station by JR. As it was after rush hour and a little less crowded, the guests were able to get seats, though it took a bit of time. I had heard that they liked seafood, so we had lunch in Tsukiji. As the group loved taking photos and shopping, we ended up staying in Tsukiji for nearly two hours. Because we spent more time than expected in the first half, we needed to shorten the course slightly in the second half. Since the guests planned to head to Tokyo Skytree after the tour, at Tokyo Tower we only took photos from the outside. Even so, they also showed interest in Zojoji Temple along the way, so we took photos there as well, and in the end we were not able to shorten the schedule significantly. At Senso-ji Temple, since one of the guests seemed tired, we limited the visit to the area around Nakamise Street. As I had heard that after the tour they would have a meal at Skytree with relatives living in Japan, we finally saw them off at Tokyo Skytree Town and parted ways.

Hi. My name is Masafumi Miyazaki. Please call me “Sam”. I am a government-licensed guide.
I was born in Tokyo and was raised in the suburbs of Tokyo called Tama area. When I was in university, I majored in western dramas, so I am good at playing like an actor.
I like reading, listening to the music, and walking. I belong to several walking clubs, and sometimes I guide the members around Tokyo.
One of my strengths as a guide is that I know well about kombu, Japanese kelps. In December every year, I work at a traditional kombu shop in Tsukiji Fish Market. At that shop, I learned a lot of things related to kombu or other ingredients for washoku. I can explain the different characteristics of them to you.
Also, I am familiar with Japanese flowers and plants. If you stroll around a Japanese garden with me, I am sure you will be able to enjoy beautiful flowers and unique plants in every season.
I look forward to meeting you. Thank you.

Title: What Is a Private Guided Tour in Japan Like When Booked Through a Travel Agency? A Licensed Guide's Report This tour had been arranged through a local travel agency. I had asked in advance where the guests wanted to go, but there was a gap between what the travel agency had communicated and what the guests who came to Japan actually wanted. (It felt like a shame that I had spent considerable time on advance discussions with the agency.) However, I made on-the-spot arrangements to accommodate the requests of the guests once they arrived. The group consisted of guests, and since one of them did not understand English at all, the person coordinating the group translated my English into Greek. It was not possible to speak to everyone in the group directly, so I focused my guiding around the coordinator.

Your tour guide Kappa is my nickname. Kappa is a traditional, imaginary creature who came into being in Japan over 300 years ago. She is good at swimming, like me, for I like swimming. I would like to make our tour operated smoothly as Kappa does when she swims in the river or pond. It is my pleasure to introduce many aspects in our tour, especially cooking, for it is my hobby and I went to the professional cooking and SAKE school, respectively. If you have any questions or requests about Japanese cooking, of course our tour, I am very delighted to answer to you anytime!

What's a Private Shopping Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Shibuya and Harajuku The guests were a group visiting from North America. The main request for this tour was simply to enjoy shopping. Since I had asked in advance about the kinds of things the guests liked, in Shibuya we visited a discount store for a variety of goods, a store for stationery, and a shopping complex for character items. As everyone had different tastes and interests, I built in some free time as we went along. In the Harajuku area, we visited shops selling Japanese-made denim and vintage clothing. These matched the guests' interests as well, and they were delighted.

    • 12:30 Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine

What Is a Private Kyoto Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Kiyomizu-dera and Fushimi Inari Today I guided a group visiting from North America. The sky was cloudy, which eased the heat, making it a very fortunate day. We took a taxi from the Hotel to Kiyomizu-dera, and since it was not very crowded, we were able to walk around at a relaxed pace. Sannenzaka was not too busy either, so the guests enjoyed leisurely shopping. They purchased items such as a paper fan, a wallet, and T-shirts. After that, we took a taxi to Fushimi Inari Taisha. It had become a little warmer, but it was not too crowded, and the guests enjoyed strolling through the Senbon Torii. For lunch, I recommended a conveyor-belt sushi restaurant, and the tour came to an end. I believe the guests enjoyed themselves.

Thank you very much for choosing JGA experience, and please allow me to briefly introduce myself. I’m Kaeko Tanigawa, your tour guide, and I have been showing tourists from abroad around mainly in Kyoto, Nara and Osaka areas. Every year I’ve guided my guests through those areas for over 80 times. I always try to do my best to help my guests explore and enjoy our unique and attractive locations, and I’ve been lucky enough to receive so many 5-star reviews from the guests I hosted. I’d like to help make your visit to Japan one of the most wonderful memories in your life. I’m really looking forward to seeing you soon. Thank you very much.

Title: What's a Private Walking Tour of Osaka Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests wanted an experience a little different from the standard tourist spots, so from the Hotel we walked to Doguyasuji, Namba Grand Kagetsu, and Kuromon Market (the souvenir shops on the way had many character goods, which they enjoyed). To show their courage, the guests tried fugu (blowfish) sashimi together. It was a bright and friendly group. They had an Osaka sightseeing pass that could be read by QR code, so they could use it for the subway, Shitennoji Temple, and later the Umeda Sky Building as well. We stayed at Shitennoji until 12:45, and when we came out to the main street through the stone torii gate, the portable shrine of Aizen-do was just returning from Tennoji, so we walked along with it. The guests enjoyed shaved ice from the food stalls along the way, and we went into Aizen-do to see the specially unveiled principal image and the eight Aizen maidens before moving on to Umeda. The Aizen-do festival marks the earliest start among Osaka's July festivals, so the guests were able to experience a Japanese festival at just the right time. At the Pokemon Center and Nintendo store in the Daimaru at Osaka Station, the group was delighted. They mentioned that, given the time difference, it still felt like nighttime for them, so they weren't hungry yet, but I introduced them to places such as the restaurant floor in the basement of the Umeda Sky Building. To let them enjoy shopping at their leisure, we parted ways there.

The town of Osaka offers a different atmosphere than Tokyo. I like both exciting Osaka and nature-filled Wakayama Prefecture.
If you stay in Osaka for 3 days, you can go to Koyasan for one day, or even for a day trip, so I recommend sightseeing at Koyasan.
If you are tired of the hustle and bustle of the big city, the nature of Koyasan will relax you.
I will introduce you to the unique culture, history and must-see sights.

Title: What Can You Add to a Private Kyoto Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report on Arashiyama Monkey Park and Nishiki Market The guests were a group visiting Kyoto. When they asked if there were any other places they could go, I recommended the Arashiyama Monkey Park. Although it was very hot, everyone kept up well, and I could see that they were enjoying themselves. Since we were at a temple during lunchtime, I chose Nishiki Market as the ending point where we parted ways. At the end, the guests thanked me, so I believe they enjoyed the tour. They also respected the basic manners at the Monkey Park and Nishiki Market, and were very understanding.
