    What's a Private Sapporo Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. The itinerary was created based on the guests' interests in history, culture, and food. From the first stop, the former Hokkaido Government Office (the Red Brick Office), the guests showed great interest in Hokkaido and listened attentively to my explanations. While other regions of Japan were experiencing a heatwave, Sapporo stayed below 30 degrees, allowing us to enjoy a comfortable tour. At the end, we descended into the underground shopping area from Tanukikoji 3-chome, and I introduced Sapporo's spacious underground shopping arcade, which concluded the tour. The guests seemed to be looking forward to exploring more of Sapporo afterward.

    Title: What Is a Private Walking Tour of Shizuoka's Sunpu Park and Shimizu Port Like? A Licensed Guide's Report We met successfully at the port and headed to Sunpu Park. Although the tour was originally planned for four people, some of the guests who could not walk long distances joined another tour, so in the end the tour proceeded with the remaining guests. We entered Momijiyama Garden within Sunpu Park, and the guests were deeply moved by its beauty. We also visited a tea house, where, due to this summer's heat, we enjoyed matcha with ice floating in it, along with an elegant sweet shaped to resemble a goldfish bowl. After that, in place of Mount Fuji, which was not visible, we leisurely admired the park's own "Mount Fuji," "tea fields," "waterfall," and other features. We then went out into the park to see the statue of Ieyasu and an excavation site before heading back toward the port. Along the way, we stopped at the historic boathouse "Suehiro" associated with Shimizu Jirocho and a 100-yen shop right in front of it, where the guests happily bought souvenirs. Finally, at the Kashi no Ichi market, which was the highlight everyone had been looking forward to, we enjoyed delicious tuna and salmon roe and toured the fish market, before saying goodbye at the port.

    Title: What's a Private Day Tour of Shizuoka City Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The private tour began with a smooth meeting at the port at 9:30, after which we headed to the entrance of the Nihondaira Ropeway. The journey went surprisingly smoothly, the ropeway was not crowded, and we made our way up to the Kunozan Toshogu Shrine and Ieyasu's mausoleum without delay. Along the way, the guests listened attentively to explanations about Ieyasu's handprint, the wooden statue of his beloved horse, the origin of the displayed plastic models, and the meaning of the inverted hollyhock crest. We returned to the entrance, introduced part of the 1,159 stone steps leading up from the coast, and then headed to Yume Terrace. Unfortunately, Mount Fuji was covered by clouds and not visible, but I believe it was still worthwhile to enjoy the panoramic view of Shizuoka City and Suruga Bay. After that, we visited Miho no Matsubara, Suehiro (the Shimizu Port Funayado Memorial Museum), and Kashi no Ichi at a good pace before saying goodbye at the port. The guests were cheerful and very clear about their preferences, which made for a very enjoyable time.

    Title: What's a Private Kyoto Tour of Arashiyama and Ninna-ji Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a family group visiting from Asia. It was their first time in Kyoto, and since they had no particular requests for places to visit, I offered them a choice between a Fushimi Inari & Kiyomizu-dera / Higashiyama course and an Arashiyama & Ninna-ji / Kinkaku-ji course, and they chose the latter. When I mentioned that I had visited their region about ten times for work and travel during my time based in Asia, one of the guests conversed with me in a very friendly manner. Yesterday the lingering summer heat was truly intense, and even inside the bamboo grove it felt more humid and muggy than before mid-August. For that reason, after strolling through the bamboo grove, I had them take a rest right after entering Tenryu-ji. They were very moved by the bamboo grove and the Sogen-ji pond at Tenryu-ji, and one of the guests said they would love to come back during the autumn foliage season. One of the guests was very well-studied and knew about the Cloud Dragon painting in the Dharma Hall, so I guided them to it. It was memorable when, during my explanation of the large onigawara (ogre roof tile), one of the guests was surprised and said it looked just like a Hindu mask seen in Bali. Following on from that, I talked about how Hinduism and Buddhism share common roots, and they listened with great interest. Next, we took the Randen tram to Ninna-ji. On the veranda of the Shinden, a pleasant breeze could be felt, and we rested for a while, leisurely gazing at the garden. After I guided them to the five-story pagoda, one of the guests said they were feeling tired and wished to return to the Hotel. Since they were not particularly set on visiting Kinkaku-ji, we canceled the final part of the itinerary, hailed a taxi, saw them off, and ended the tour. While it was a shame that I could not guide them through to the very end due to attention to their physical condition, they promptly gave a five-star review, and I was glad that they were very satisfied with the tour itself.

    Title: What Is a Private 2-Day Hakone Tour from Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report One of the guests is a resident of Japan. The purpose of this trip was that a friend was visiting Japan, and the guest accompanied them on a two-day Hakone trip during this period and requested this guiding service. The friend is a resident of North America. They currently work in the humanitarian field. This visit to Japan was for an extended stay, with plans mainly to explore Tokyo and the surrounding areas. The guests expressed the wishes: "We want to visit as many spots as possible," and "We want to buy Yosegi marquetry as a souvenir." It was a tour on an extremely hot and humid day. Although the weather was clear, thick clouds hung over the area around Mount Fuji, so we were unable to see its beautiful form. We met up at the Hotel. We transferred between the Hakone Tozan Cable Car and the Ropeway, and headed to Owakudani via Souunzan. I explained "the formation of Hakone" and "the overview and history of Owakudani." We sampled "kuro-tamago" (black eggs) and also visited the Geo Museum. There were questions such as "When did the volcanic groups of Hakone form?" "Is Owakudani an active volcano? Has it ever erupted?" and "Is Mount Fuji also an active volcano?" We transferred on the Ropeway to Togendai. After a short wait, we boarded the "Pirate Ship." They stayed on the upper deck the whole time and took commemorative photos many times. There were questions such as "How deep is Lake Ashi? What is the water temperature?" "Can you swim in it?" and "Can you fish there?" We disembarked at Hakonemachi Port and went to the Hakone Checkpoint (Hakone Sekisho) ruins. I explained "the history of the Hakone Checkpoint," "the sankin-kotai (alternate attendance system)," "the Five Highways of the Edo period," and "the Edo period and the Meiji Restoration." There were questions such as "When did samurai rule begin?" and "Why did the Tokugawa Shogunate come to an end?" At a nearby Yosegi marquetry shop, they purchased a "Yosegi marquetry box" and a "folding fan." From here, we took the Hakone Tozan Bus to Moto-Hakone Port. We strolled around Hakone Shrine and the cedar avenue. We bought sandwiches and other items at a convenience store for a light lunch. I explained "the history of Hakone Shrine." Regarding the torii gate on the lake, there was a question: "Why are so many people lining up to take photos?" After this, we transferred between the Hakone Tozan Bus and the Hakone Tozan Railway to head to the "Hakone Open-Air Museum" (Sculpture Forest). In the hot and humid weather, we made a full circuit of the grounds. One of the guests enjoys photography as a hobby and took pictures here and there. The friend also commented: "Everywhere in Japan, the towns are so orderly." "There's no litter on the ground." "Everyone is so polite." "There are no trash cans on the streets." "The security seems very solid." Afterward, they said, "We'd like to go out to Odawara and visit Odawara Castle," so I saw them off at Odawara Station, and we parted ways.

    In the past, I was stationed in Canada, the United States, and Mexico as an expatriate of a Japanese bank for over 11 years.
    Since I have been mainly involved in the financing business in the United States for a long time, I think I am able to provide interpretation and translation services related to business and finance.
    I am a certified CPA in the United States.
    In addition, for three years from April 2016, I will be engaged in Japanese-English translation work (part-time), and I can also handle translation work.
    Although I don’t have a qualification in Spanish, but I think I can handle day to day conversation in Spanish without any problems.

    What Is a Private Day Tour of Kanazawa Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The meeting point was changed on the day from a hotel to Omicho Market, but I had forgotten to update this on the web system. On the day, I contacted the guests via a messaging app and met them at the restaurant where they were having lunch. The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from Europe. They were on a rather busy trip covering five cities in ten days. I designed the tour so that they could see the main highlights that are characteristic of Kanazawa in a short amount of time. That day was also a scorching heat exceeding 35 degrees, but by adding stops such as gold-leaf soft serve ice cream and rest breaks along the way, I believe the guests were able to enjoy the tour.

    A Private Tokyo Sightseeing Tour on a Hot Summer Day: A Licensed Guide's Report It was a very hot day, so the tour proceeded with close attention to preventing heatstroke among the guests. Parasols were used, but as it was extremely hot at the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, one of the guests had a slightly elevated body temperature, so we used cooling towels and similar items. At a drugstore in Asakusa, the guests bought a parasol, a cooling spray, and an electric fan. Afterward, we had lunch at a soba restaurant near Kaminarimon Gate, which was well received. Meiji Shrine was a little cooler, though still quite hot. Since we had spent time on lunch and shopping, we were unable to visit the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, and the tour ended by seeing the guests off from Harajuku to their hotel.

    Private 8-Hour Tokyo Tour Report: What Can a Licensed Guide Show First-Time Visitors from Tokyo Tower to Ginza? The guests were first-time visitors to Japan from North America. They had planned to travel to Japan last October, but the trip was postponed and took place this time instead. Although they enjoy adorable things, and at various souvenir shops they reacted with delight whenever they spotted charming little items such as maneki-neko lucky cats. One of the guests was a fan of Pokemon, and when I guided them to the Pokemon Store at Tokyo Station, although they did not make a purchase, they took a photo with the large Pikachu displayed as part of the store's interior and proudly showed it to me. The itinerary for the 8-hour tour was not finalized until the morning of the tour day, but they requested to cover areas other than Shibuya and Harajuku, which they planned to visit on a separate day. Given the extreme heat, we agreed to decide the latter half of the day depending on how things went, and I set out to guide them through Tokyo's major sightseeing spots such as Tokyo Tower, the Imperial Palace, Asakusa, and Ginza, first accessing Tokyo Tower via Zojoji Temple. They were pleased with the combined view of Tokyo Tower and Zojoji Temple and took many photos. I helped take photos of the group, and being on such warm terms, they also took many commemorative selfies. For lunch, one of the guests liked sushi, while another was not fond of fish due to its smell but wavered a little, thinking it might be a good chance to bravely try sushi while accompanied by a guide. From several options inside the Shin-Marunouchi Building, which I had suggested as a lunch spot, they browsed and considered before finally choosing tempura, thoroughly enjoying a tendon rice bowl. It was also their first experience taking off their shoes and sitting at a tatami table with a sunken hori-gotatsu style. After visiting Sensoji Temple, they had planned to skip Ginza due to fatigue, but while on the subway, one of the guests said they would like to stop by after all, so we went to Ginza's main street, which had become a pedestrian paradise. At the UNIQLO they had researched online, they tried on and bought many summer dresses and innerwear. They seemed to feel the prices were quite reasonable compared to those back home. Perhaps aided by the satisfaction of this shopping, when we said goodbye at the hotel lobby at the end, one of the guests gave me a heartfelt hug.

    What's a Private Walking Tour of Asakusa, Meiji Shrine, and Shibuya Like? A Licensed Guide's Report It was a very hot day. I provided a parasol for the guests to use. The guests were visiting from Asia, and as the heat and walking took their toll, one of the group headed back from Shibuya Station. Asakusa was in the middle of a samba festival, so there were many traffic restrictions and it was difficult to reach the intended spots, but the guests enjoyed it nonetheless. Meiji Shrine was cool as always, and we were able to take a breather there. The guests performed the customary form of worship at both Senso-ji Temple and Meiji Shrine. However, they had no interest in sake or wine. Since they expressed interest in secondhand clothing and secondhand daily goods, I guided them from Harajuku's Takeshita Street along Cat Street. We passed through the Shibuya Scramble Crossing, and the tour ended after I guided them to the place they wished to visit.

    Title: What Is a Private Tokyo Day Tour with a Licensed Guide Like? Shinjuku, Tokyo Station, and Asakusa Report Body: The guests were visiting Japan from the Middle East. This time I had the opportunity to guide guests from an Islamic cultural background. Since they did not have transportation IC cards such as Suica, they purchased PASMO cards at Shinjuku Station, and we traveled using both JR and subway lines. The guests walked at a fast pace, and things went smoothly up to a certain point, but choosing a place for lunch proved difficult. At first I considered a shop at Tokyo Ramen Street inside Tokyo Station, but as it was the last Sunday of the summer holidays it was extraordinarily crowded, so I quickly gave up on that idea and decided to guide them in Asakusa instead. I took them to a restaurant near Nakamise Street that could offer vegan ramen, but they were concerned about the ingredients in the soup, so in the end we ended up searching on the spot for a place where they could eat halal ramen. It seems that online information about halal-friendly food is not updated at many restaurants, and I had the guests walk quite a long way before we reached a ramen shop on Kaminarimon Street. Even so, the halal ramen itself was very well received, which was a relief. After the meal I guided them around Senso-ji Temple, and by then it was just about time to finish, so I saw them off at their hotel and we parted ways.
