Title: What Is a Private Kyoto Tour Like for First-Time Visitors to Japan? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America who were visiting Japan for the first time. They expressed a strong interest in Japanese culture and history, and throughout the tour they asked many thoughtful questions about topics such as Shinto, Buddhism, the Emperor, and the Shogun. It seemed that no guide had been arranged for their previous stay, so these topics were especially engaging for them. Several times during the tour there were sudden heavy downpours, but thanks to good timing we were able to avoid them, as we happened to be resting or traveling by bus at those moments. The tour proceeded along the planned route and covered all the intended destinations, so I believe the guests were satisfied with the experience.

Title: What's a Private Kanazawa Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Kenrokuen, Kanazawa Castle, and a Tea Ceremony The guests were a group visiting from North America. Since they would still be in Kanazawa the following day, they said they wanted to take their time today enjoying Kanazawa Castle Park and Kenrokuen Garden, and if possible the Higashi Chaya District. They were also very interested in traditional Japanese culture and hands-on experiences, and expressed a wish to enjoy a tea ceremony experience at a place with history and tradition. For this reason, I took the guests to Shigure-tei, located within Kenrokuen Garden. There, the guests enjoyed a relaxing time, savoring matcha and sweets served in the tea ceremony style by a woman in a kimono, using a Kutani ware tea bowl and a Yamanaka lacquerware plate, while admiring the garden of Shigure-tei. After Kanazawa Castle Park and Kenrokuen Garden, while walking toward the Higashi Chaya District, we encountered heavy rain and thunder and got completely soaked, so the tour ended there, but the guests mentioned they would head out to the Higashi Chaya District in the evening once the lanterns were lit. In addition, some of the guests said they wanted to have a sake experience the next day, so I made a reservation for them at Fukumitsuya's experience with an English-speaking guide starting at 15:00 the following day.

What Are the Best Japanese Gardens to Visit on a Private Kyoto Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report Today's guests were visitors from North America who had a strong interest in Japanese gardens. On a private tour with [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/), the guests visited beautiful gardens such as Kinkaku-ji and Tenryu-ji, but the rock garden at Ryoan-ji was what they most wanted to see. The rock garden at Ryoan-ji is said to have 15 stones, of which only 14 can be seen from any single viewpoint, but the guests were delighted to have found a spot from which all 15 stones were visible. They had come with the determination to find that very spot. Tomorrow they plan to visit beautiful gardens such as Ginkaku-ji and the Kyoto Imperial Palace.

Title: What's a Private Day Tour of Kochi Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Ryugado Cave, Ekingura, and Kochi Castle Although the email exchange beforehand had not gone smoothly, which caused some concern, there were no particular problems once we met in person. The guests were a group from North America. At Ryugado Cave, everyone climbed the equivalent of 18 floors of stairs energetically, but the bats, which were flying around more than usual, were not well received. I had been worried whether the guests would appreciate the distinctive painting style at Ekingura, but they viewed the works with interest. For lunch, I had been told that one of the guests did not eat meat but did eat fish, yet in the end that person said they wanted neither, so the restaurant kindly accommodated by serving a set with no main dish and only small side dishes. At the Takagi Sake Brewery, after sampling a variety of sake, the guests bought two bottles of the most expensive daiginjo. At the final stop, Kochi Castle, the guests were understandably tired, and it was a shame that some of them gave up at the fourth floor of the six-story castle keep.

    Hi! I’m Kay.
It’s my pleasure to be your guide.
I was born and raised in Kochi city, and I worked for Kochi City Hall for nearly 30 years, so I think I know a lot about Kochi.

Firstly, I can guide you to the Kochi castle. Most castles you can find in Japan have been rebuilt after fires, wars, or natural disasters. However, Kochi Castle is one of the very few castles that still have the whole structure of its original tower and the mail palace from the Edo period (1603–1868). This makes it especially valuable for understanding Japan’s history and traditional architecture. You’ll like it!

Other major tourist sites are adventurous Ryugado limestone cave, Makino botanical garden, Chikurinji temple with historical stonesteps, Zenjibuji temple with the spectacular panoramic view, paper-making activity, Oboke gorge, Nakatsu gorge, Niyodo river with a historical bridge and so on.
If you like sake, you can visit sake brewery, and if you are interested in walking local streets, you can stroll my neighborhood.

Kochi is a small city, but it’s very popular among tourists for its beautiful nature and good food. I took my kids to rivers and mountains when they were little. If you are interested in those places, please ask me. And I know many good restaurants, too.
I’m looking forward to enjoying them together with you!

Report on a Private Nagoya Day Tour with a Licensed Guide: Nagoya Castle, Honmaru Palace, and Shikemichi The high temperature reached 35°C and it was extremely hot, but the guests drank plenty of water and completed the entire itinerary to the end. Everyone carried their own reusable bottles, and when buying plastic bottled drinks from vending machines, they transferred the contents into their own bottles on the spot and disposed of the empty plastic bottles in the collection boxes next to the vending machines (I did the same). We were running slightly behind schedule, but the guests finished lunch at Nagoya Castle in about 30 minutes, which happened to align perfectly with the Me~guru bus timetable, allowing us to move smoothly from Nagoya Castle to Shikemichi. Being a hot weekday, the wait time for the Honmaru Palace at Nagoya Castle was, as expected, zero.

Title: What Can You See on a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour with a Licensed Guide? A Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Europe. Through prior communication with a travel agency, the itinerary had been set as Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine → Arashiyama → Nijo Castle if possible → Gion. Since I had explained in advance that Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine and Arashiyama are far apart and had received their understanding, there were no problems. I only learned on the day itself that they wished to visit the Monkey Park, but I responded flexibly to accommodate this. For lunch, they enjoyed fried chicken, takoyaki, and other dishes at the gourmet food alley across from the Randen tram. I recommended Nijo Castle to help them understand Japanese history, and after they agreed, they extended the tour by 30 minutes. After visiting Nijo Castle, they mentioned they would also like to go to the Kyoto Imperial Palace, so I handed them a subway map and explained the closing time of the Imperial Palace, how to get there, and how to return to their accommodation, and then we parted ways.

I am an experienced guide, who live in Osaka. I have been a Government-Licensed Guide in English since 2018. I have already guided a lot of tourists overseas in Kansai Area, that is, in the vicinity of my prefecture, Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Kobe, and Himeji. I am especially good at guiding in Kansai Area with sufficient knowledge of history, culture and transportation. I have guided people ranging from a small group of one or two to a group of 20-50 people in a big bus, that is, a coach. I like delicious food, because Osaka is a city of Kuidaorre, which means that people in Osaka love to eat and never spend too much money on food. Therefore, as an Osakan, I will do my best to explore restaurants which serve most delicious foods in wherever I take to my guests.

What Is a Private Afternoon Tour of Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Arashiyama and Fushimi Inari The guests visited Japan from North America. They had been to Tokyo before. They walked at a brisk pace, which was very helpful. Since they arrived in Kyoto in the morning, the tour started in the afternoon. It was an extremely hot day. Even so, they walked energetically without any breaks over the long distance from Otagi Nenbutsu-ji Temple to the Togetsukyo Bridge in Arashiyama. They occasionally glanced into souvenir shops but hardly bought anything. As it became evening, I chose Fushimi Inari as the final destination, since it has no closing time. Because it was evening, there were fewer people. They tried the Omokaru-ishi (lightweight stones). I had planned to see them off to their hotel, but they said, "We can get back on our own from here," so the tour ended 30 minutes early. We used a taxi from Arashiyama to Otagi Nenbutsu-ji Temple. The photo was taken at Otagi Nenbutsu-ji Temple.

I was born and grew up in Kyoto and now live near Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto. I used to be a schoolteacher of English and welcome a lot of students from foreign countries. I really enjoyed showing them around Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Himeji, and Hiroshima. I have been a professional tour guide for about 8 years. I always try to let my guests learn Japanese traditional and modern culture. Since I was born in Kyoto, I know a lot about its culture and people. I myself enjoyed several sports, such as soccer, judo, and marathon when I was young. I’m much interested in baseball and sumo. My motto as a tour guide is to let my guests learn about our tradition and culture precisely and really enjoy themselves. I strongly hope you will enjoy the tour in Japan with me.

Since there was plenty of time before the bus departure, we set off after carefully reviewing the tour course together. At the Zozan Underground Bunker, the guests showed great interest and learned about its history. Inside the bunker it was cool, in complete contrast to the hot and humid weather outside. The guests seemed to take in and remember each thing we encountered—the features of the samurai residences, and the spring-water ponds and water channels unique to Matsushiro. Although we were caught in a sudden rain shower, the guests thoroughly enjoyed this castle town known only to those in the know.

Since then, I have had the pleasure of guiding many visitors to some of my favorite places, including Nagano, Matsushiro, Togakushi, Matsumoto, Azumino, Yamanouchi, Obuse, Nozawa-onsen, Suzaka, and Karuizawa, among others. I have a deep appreciation for the diverse foods harvested in Nagano and am committed to providing a flexible and enjoyable experience for my guests. Additionally, upon request, I can also guide you in Kanazawa, Nagoya, Nara, and Kyoto. I look forward to the opportunity to meet you and to share a memorable and enjoyable tour together.

What Is a Private Kyoto Day Trip Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Fushimi Inari, Arashiyama, and Nishiki Market The guests were visitors from North America. They extended their trip to Japan after traveling elsewhere in Asia. They had arrived in Tokyo the previous day, came to Kyoto this morning by Shinkansen, and planned to return to Tokyo again this evening. Fushimi Inari Taisha was not too crowded, but there were many students on school trips, and a long line had formed at the Omokaru-ishi stone. At the inner shrine, the guests offered prayers with the traditional two bows, two claps, and at the Negari-no-Matsu pine they passed underneath the raised roots. Upon arriving in Arashiyama, the heat seemed to be taking its toll, so we stopped at a convenience store near the station to rehydrate before heading off to walk through the bamboo grove. At Nishiki Market, they spent time buying souvenirs at a chopstick shop and a spice shop. In the evening, since the guests were scheduled to join a tour in Gion, I guided them to the meeting point and we parted ways there.

Title: What's a Private Day Trip to Kyoto from Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Europe. Communication by email was slow, and although the itinerary was finally settled based on the plan I proposed, there was little response to my questions about which train they would take or what time they would arrive, beyond simply saying the meeting point would be Kyoto Station. When I contacted them via a messaging app 30 minutes before the scheduled meeting time, they only said that the next stop was Kyoto. I asked them to take photos of their surroundings and send them once they arrived, and the photo they sent was of the Hachijo East Exit of the Shinkansen. Since our first destination was Kiyomizu-dera, I had been waiting on the north side of the station, but they were on the complete opposite side, so I met a taxi and went to pick them up. The guests said they had not realized Kyoto Station was so large. Our destinations were the classic highlights of Kiyomizu-dera, Fushimi Inari, Kinkaku-ji, and the bamboo grove. It was a somewhat tight schedule, but I was glad to be able to show them the major sights. This was a day trip from Tokyo, and since they had reserved the 17:30 Shinkansen for the return, there was probably less than an hour at our final destination, the Teramachi shopping street. Although the Kyoto visit felt a bit like an add-on, I believe they enjoyed it more than expected.

I’m Ryoichi Kazuma and my nickname is “Kazz”. I live in Kyotanabe city next to Kyoto city. I want guests to enjoy Kyoto by seeing and experiencing not only from outside but also from inside. I offer various information from daily matters to traditional cultures. Most destinations in Kyoto are located on the eastern side or the western side. As I want to guide guests to as many destinations as possible, I make an efficient itinerary and recommend a taxi use to save time. Additionally, I take pictures at various spots and finally share the link to my storage. By doing so, guests can download their favorite pictures from my storage. Please enjoy Kyoto night and day!
