Tokyo: Toyosu Market & Tsukiji Outer Market

    Tour Itinerary

    • 5:00 Meet up @ Hotel
    • 5:20 Toyosu Market (Tuna Auction)
    • 7:00 Tsukiji Outer Market
    • 8:00 Disband @ Tsukiji Outer Market

What Is a Private Early-Morning Tour of Toyosu and Tsukiji Markets in Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report I guided the guests from North America to Toyosu Market and the Tsukiji Outer Market as they had requested. During the tuna auction tour, the guests were amazed to see hundreds of frozen tuna lined up and sold off one after another. At the Tsukiji Outer Market, they were deeply moved to witness tuna being cut and prepared right in front of a seafood shop. After that, they enjoyed tasting different cuts of tuna, taking a break at a coffee shop, and strolling through the market in the early morning. They mentioned they were scheduled to return home the next day, and they were delighted to have created lasting memories on their final day in Japan.

Hi friends, I’m Seky, a tour guide in Tokyo, but I cover all over Japan, namely from Hokkaido to Kyushu. I have lived overseas for more than 15 years in total, such as US, UK, Singapore and others, and enjoyed local culture there. Back in Japan, I wish I could help travelers to Japan enjoy Japanese culture, and this is why I became a tour guide.
In Tokyo, my favorite places are Shibuya, Harajuku, Asakusa, and if you are interested in fish market, I’d love to take you to the world largest Tuna auction and/or if you are sports lovers, I’ll go to ball games (baseball) too.

Title: What's a Private Summer Day Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report It was an extremely hot day, so I prepared parasols for everyone and we proceeded while taking frequent breaks. Asakusa was very hot. Meiji Shrine was a little cooler in the shade, but the guests said they would sit and rest there, and they had a meal. According to the original plan, we were to visit Takeshita Street and Shinjuku Gyoen after the shrine, but since we took lunch and a break at the shrine, we skipped Shinjuku Gyoen and substituted the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building Observation Deck instead. We went partway along Takeshita Street, but it seemed different from what the guests had imagined, so they turned back right away. After relaxing at the cool Metropolitan Government Building Observation Deck, I saw them off at their Hotel, and the tour ended. I received a chocolate souvenir and a tip.

What Is a Full-Day Private Tokyo Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report After explaining the itinerary at the Hotel, we purchased a one-day subway pass and set off. It was a very hot day with strong sunshine, so I provided a parasol and we proceeded while taking frequent breaks. I received many questions about history and culture. In Asakusa, the guests enjoyed shopping and sampling street food, and at their request we had lunch at a local ramen shop. I guided them through Ueno Park, which was also hot, and we were able to take a breather at Meiji Shrine. I gave many explanations related to religion. From Shibuya Scramble Crossing we returned to Shimbashi, and in front of the elevator leading to the Hotel, the guests said this was a good place to finish, so the tour came to an end. I received a tip. This private full-day walking tour of Tokyo was arranged through [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/), one of Japan's largest networks of government-licensed, English-speaking private tour guides, serving all 47 prefectures. Report: A Private Full-Day Hired-Car Tour of Tokyo in Summer — A Licensed Guide's Experience Today's guests were visitors from North America, traveling as a group. All transportation was arranged by private hired car, which made the day comfortable. In the morning, before it got hot, we strolled through the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace. At this point, everyone in the group was doing well. However, from the afternoon the temperature and humidity rose sharply, so we shortened our time at Tsukiji Market and had an early lunch. As some of the guests began to feel low on energy, the group requested that we keep the walking time at Asakusa and Meiji Jingu Shrine shorter, so I omitted detailed explanations and focused only on the key points. Even though we traveled by private hired car, the difference in climate left the group thoroughly exhausted by the end of the day. It was a little unfortunate!

What Is a Private Walking Tour of Rikugien Garden and Yanaka in Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were retired visitors from North America. Both were in very good health and enjoyed staying active. They were staying only briefly in Tokyo before joining a two-week cruise around Japan. As highly cultured people, they were deeply impressed by the Japanese sense of beauty at Rikugien Garden and thoroughly enjoyed the nostalgic streetscape of Yanaka. At a standing bar in Yanaka Ginza, I recommended a sake from Tosa, and the guests were delighted, saying it was delicious. They very generously offered their thanks, and we ended the tour on a wonderful note.

    My name is Kris,
Before becoming a tour guide, I worked for a major steelmaking company as an engineer for many years. During my career, I lived and worked in both Germany and the United States for a total of five years. These experiences helped me understand different cultures and ways of thinking, which now helps me connect easily with guests from around the world.

After retirement, I chose a second career as a tour guide because I truly enjoy meeting people from different countries and sharing Japanese culture, history, and daily life. I have been working as a guide for more than nine years and continue to enjoy every tour.

I currently live in Tokyo, but I was born and raised in Kobe, near Osaka, and my family roots are in Kyoto. As a result, I have extensive knowledge not only of Tokyo but also of Kyoto, Osaka, and many other parts of Japan. I enjoy introducing both famous landmarks and hidden local gems that many visitors might otherwise miss.

I am energetic, friendly, and very sociable. I always try to create tours that are relaxed, flexible, and tailored to my guests’ interests.

Travel is one of my greatest passions, especially visiting hot spring resorts. I have visited more than 80 onsen destinations throughout Japan, giving me a deep appreciation of Japanese culture and regional traditions.

Whether you are visiting Japan for the first time or returning for another adventure, I would be delighted to help you discover the real Japan from a local perspective.

I look forward to meeting you and helping you create wonderful memories in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, and beyond.

    See you in Japan!

What Can You See in a One-Day Private Tokyo Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report Today's guests were a group visiting Japan from North America. They were intelligent and well-mannered. They had already visited Kyoto and Osaka, and since today was their final day, they wished to see as many places as possible. We first visited Asakusa, and they were surprised to see it so crowded with international travelers, wondering whether it might be even busier than Kyoto. Next, we visited Meiji Shrine, where they were moved by the solemn atmosphere. After that, since some of the guests were fond of Pokemon, they experienced the Shibuya Crossing and then thoroughly enjoyed Cyberspace Shibuya. Finally, as some time remained, we strolled along Takeshita Street in Harajuku and parted ways at Omotesando.

Title: What Can You See on a Full-Day Private Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report Body: The guests were a slightly older group visiting from Oceania. They came down to the ground floor of their Hotel before the scheduled start time, so we were able to begin the tour a little early. We first had them purchase a PASMO card at Shinjuku-Sanchome Station, and then traveled using both the subway and JR lines. The guests had many places they wished to visit, so I planned the route to cover as many as possible. I first took them to the eastern side of central Tokyo, and used the remaining time for the western spots closer to their Hotel. Although they were interested in Tsukiji, they were not fond of raw fish, so we had lunch at a food court that offered plenty of options. In Harajuku, there was not enough time to guide them inside Meiji Shrine, so I explained an overview in front of the first torii gate and we walked only along Takeshita Street together. At the end, they took photos of the giant 3D cat on the Cross Shinjuku Vision screen and the Godzilla Head at the Hotel, and then I saw them back to their Hotel, where we parted ways.

Hi. My name is Masafumi Miyazaki. Please call me “Sam”. I am a government-licensed guide.
I was born in Tokyo and was raised in the suburbs of Tokyo called Tama area. When I was in university, I majored in western dramas, so I am good at playing like an actor.
I like reading, listening to the music, and walking. I belong to several walking clubs, and sometimes I guide the members around Tokyo.
One of my strengths as a guide is that I know well about kombu, Japanese kelps. In December every year, I work at a traditional kombu shop in Tsukiji Fish Market. At that shop, I learned a lot of things related to kombu or other ingredients for washoku. I can explain the different characteristics of them to you.
Also, I am familiar with Japanese flowers and plants. If you stroll around a Japanese garden with me, I am sure you will be able to enjoy beautiful flowers and unique plants in every season.
I look forward to meeting you. Thank you.

What's a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on the Imperial Palace and Harajuku The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from Oceania. This was effectively the first full day of their trip, and they mentioned that starting tomorrow they would depart from the Tokyo International Cruise Terminal on a cruise lasting about two weeks. As one of the guests walked a little slowly, we shortened our visit to the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace to just the Ninomaru Garden before heading to Harajuku. They had been asked to take plenty of photos of Harajuku, so they captured many scenes and also bought lots of souvenirs at accessory shops popular with young visitors and at a yukata shop. It was a satisfying day for everyone.

What Can You See on a Private Day Tour of Nagoya? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. I guided them through Nagoya Castle, the Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology, Tokugawaen Garden, and the Oasis 21 shopping area, in that order, introducing Edo-period culture, the textile machinery invented by Sakichi Toyoda during the Meiji and Taisho eras along with the corporate history of Toyota Motor, and the present-day central area of Nagoya. They enjoyed each of these sites. They also enjoyed a light lunch at the cafe inside the Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology and drinks at a Taiwanese cafe in Oasis 21, so even while visiting many sites, they were able to enjoy a relaxed tour. At the Tokugawaen Garden and museum, I explained the etiquette of the tea room, and the guests were delighted, saying it would be very useful because they would have a tea ceremony experience at the next port of call on their cruise.

Title: What's a Full-Day Private Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Europe. Beforehand, they had indicated no particular requests, so I proposed an itinerary that the guests accepted. When we met on the day, I presented a revised plan, which they readily agreed to, and we began the tour. When I mentioned my experience staying in Ireland and traveling to Belfast, the distance between us closed quickly and we talked about many things. They had arrived in Japan the previous evening after a 26-hour journey. At the Hachiko statue in Shibuya, we were able to take a commemorative photo without waiting in line. When we headed to Mohri Garden at Roppongi Hills, we happened to encounter a weather caster from a news program, and after asking, we took a commemorative photo together with the guests. While looking at Tokyo Tower, we also stopped by Zojoji Temple and I guided them through the main hall. After touring the East Gardens, since it seemed we might run over time, I confirmed with the guests whether they had a dinner reservation before continuing the tour. While guiding them to the statues of Hachiko and Professor Ueno at the University of Tokyo's Faculty of Agriculture (I had checked in with the guard beforehand), the guard spoke to me. I thought, "Are we going to be scolded?" but instead we were handed "pass-the-exam" stickers (intended for junior and senior high school students)! Both the guests and I gratefully accepted them. After guiding them through Nezu Shrine, we headed to Asakusa. They plan to join a two-week cruise tour departing from Yokohama tomorrow, and after a port call in Korea, they will return home directly. After touring Asakusa, in response to the guests' request to be taken to their hotel, we went to Shinjuku. I recommended dining in Golden Gai and explained how to get to the Yokohama Port Osanbashi cruise terminal, and we parted with smiles.

Hi! I’m a local guide in Tokyo and have been working as a licensed tour guide for almost 10 years. I love helping guests discover the “real Japan” beyond the guidebooks. I enjoy showing guests both famous sights and places that many tourists miss. My tours are based on your interests and can include not only famous sightseeing spots, but also local neighborhoods, culture, history, and everyday life in Japan. I also help guests enjoy Japanese cultural activities and make communication easier. If you’d like vegan or gluten-free meals, let me help you find suitable restaurants in Tokyo. If you have any food allergies or dietary restrictions, please feel free to let me know in advance. I look forward to showing you around Tokyo!
