    Title: What's a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Fushimi Inari, Kinkaku-ji, and Kiyomizu-dera The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from North America. The group met at 7:00 with only a very slight delay. Because we set out early in the morning, we were able to take photos at Fushimi Inari without worrying too much about other tourists. The arrival of autumn had begun, and the mornings and evenings had become quite cool, making sightseeing more comfortable. However, it was still hot during the day, and both Kinkaku-ji and Kiyomizu-dera became warm, though the temperature had dropped considerably compared with ten days earlier. More mackerel-scale clouds had begun to appear in the sky. At Kiyomizu-dera, the guests made an offering of goma-gi prayer sticks. They seemed to enjoy everything they saw. The photo was taken near Yasaka Pagoda on the way to Kiyomizu-dera.

    What's an Off-the-Beaten-Path Private Tour of East Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guest was a solo traveler from Europe who requested to avoid crowded tourist spots, so I focused the tour on the eastern areas of Tokyo. At Nezu Shrine, a festival was taking place, and the guest was delighted to see the portable shrine (mikoshi). At Yanaka Ginza, the guest enjoyed a standing-bar experience and street food such as menchi-katsu, and was very pleased. In Shibamata, I took the guest to Daikyoji Temple (Taishakuten) and Yamamoto-tei, both of which seemed to be well liked. Finally, I guided the guest through Ueno Park and saw them off at JR Ueno Station to conclude the tour. The guest commented that the tour was even more enjoyable than expected and expressed great satisfaction. The weather was fine today, and with such a responsive guest, it was an easy and enjoyable day for me as a guide.

    The guests were visitors from North America. They arrived from Tokyo the day before the Hiroshima tour, and after the Hiroshima tour they immediately headed to Kyoto on a Shinkansen around 15:00. Their itinerary was planned to enjoy Kyoto and Hakone before returning home. When we met in the morning, they decided to skip Hiroshima Castle and Shukkeien Garden. They visited the monuments in the Peace Park and toured the Peace Memorial Museum very attentively, which was truly moving. In particular, they spent an hour and a half carefully going through the museum. After that, they relaxed with a stroll along Hondori shopping street and enjoyed some shopping.

    What Can You See on a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America who were visiting Japan for the first time. At the Ninomaru Palace of Nijo Castle, they showed great interest in the beautiful wall paintings. In the Ninomaru Garden, they listened attentively to my explanation of the differences between Western-style gardens and Japanese gardens, and took photographs. At Kinkaku-ji, they seemed to particularly like the Golden Pavilion, and when I explained the benefits of the incense at Fudo-do Hall, they fanned the incense smoke toward themselves. For lunch, they had requested a casual, popular-style Japanese eatery, so we dined at such a place. They said it was reasonably priced and delicious. They seemed to enjoy the view from Kiyomizu-dera. They also had the experience of pouring water over the Kannon Bodhisattva statue while it was wet. Since the visit to Kiyomizu-dera finished around 15:50, I asked what they would like to do afterward, and they said they wanted to do some shopping in the area and could return to their accommodation on their own, so we parted ways here.

    My name is Hiroki Muramoto, please call me Hiro.
    Hiro in Japanese means large or big. Although I’m neither large nor big, you can call me Hiro. How are you doing ?
    I lived in a city nearby Kobe city. Do you know Kobe ? Kobe is famous for Kobe beef and pearl. If you have not yet had Kobe beef, you should taste the authentic Kobe beef. It is very satisfying taste. But I have recently moved to a city in Kyoto prefecture, so I can be in Kyoto city in about one hour. By the way, I am a family of four. I have a son and a daughter. My son now works in Tokyo. I sometimes go to Tokyo to see him. Tokyo is a huge city, but too crowded, so it seems not to suit me. I seem to be better suited to a small city than a big one. Where do you live in ? How many families do you have ? If you like, please tell me about them. I worked in the quality assurance department of a pharmaceutical company and visited the factories of foreign affiliated companies, so I became interested in foreign cultures and obtained a qualification as an interpreter guide in 2015.

    I have been a guide for about eight years. During that time, I have guided in Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe, Nara, Kochi and so on, although I could do little guiding work between 2020 and 2022 due to COVID-19. However, since last year, my guiding work has been back! So, I am happy to be able to meet different people again. My hobby is travelling, but sadly, I am not in a position to travel abroad easily at the moment due to the very weak yen, and I hope to travel abroad again when the situation eases a bit more.
    How many countries have you been to so far ? Which countries have you liked so far? Another hobby is watching sports – baseball and football. Do you like the baseball ? Do you know Otani, Japanese baseball player ? He has joined Dodgers in Los Angeles this year. I look forward to another successful year for Otani.

    By the way, what interests you in Japan? Food, history, scenery ? As far as tourist attractions are concerned, famous places are too crowded. If you like, I also would like to show you some less crowded places. Are you interested in experiencing something ? If you want to experience something, I can suggest an experience plan for you. If so, please contact me as early as possible. As for food, what kind of food do you like? There are many kinds of delicious food. Of course, you can get good food in fine restaurants, but you can also get good food in downtown restaurants. If you like alcohol, why don’t you try Japanese sake? It can range from light and fragrant to rich in flavor, so you’re sure to find a Japanese sake you like.

    My motto is “Be content with life.” However, I find myself complaining all the time. If you like, please tell me your motto. I want to treat all guests who visit Japan with the spirit of “Treasure every encounter” and guide them so that they can enjoy themselves and have good memories of Japan.

    What Is a Private Mount Fuji Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Europe. One of the guests had visited Japan around ten years ago and loved the country very much. The other was very interested in Japan and asked many questions during the drive there, such as why Japanese uses kanji, hiragana, and katakana, how they are used, and what kind of flowers are offered at graves. The timing worked out perfectly so that Mount Fuji was completely visible when we arrived at the 5th Station, which delighted the guests greatly. Although there were some clouds, the view from Oishi Park was also fine. However, just as we were leaving the park, it suddenly became cloudy and Mount Fuji could no longer be seen. At the Japanese restaurant, the guests took many photos and ordered additional tempura. This may have been one reason for the delay, but rather than sticking rigidly to the schedule, it is more important that the guests fully enjoyed Japan.

    Title: What Is a Private Miyajima and Hiroshima Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan for the first time from Europe. It was their first time traveling together as a group of this size, and Hiroshima was their first destination in Japan. They were not university classmates or work colleagues, but they described themselves simply as being "like a family." That evening, both NHK and commercial television aired news reporting that, because the number of stranded hikers on Miyajima had increased sharply, Hatsukaichi City had begun countermeasures such as distributing flyers stating that "even when using the ropeway, climbing in light clothing is dangerous." This was one of the most challenging groups I have guided, as some of the guests made it all the way to the summit in light clothing, but I was grateful that they descended safely.

    Can You Do a Private One-Day Tour of Tokyo Covering Asakusa, the Imperial Palace, and Shibuya? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were two families visiting Japan for the first time, from Oceania. Originally from Asia, they had relocated to Oceania about ten years earlier. They arrived at Haneda Airport this morning via a connecting flight, and took a taxi from Haneda to their accommodation. This was part of a 14-day trip to Japan, with a stay in Tokyo followed by planned visits to Kyoto, Osaka, and Hiroshima, before departing from Kansai Airport. They planned to visit TeamLab the next day and Disneyland the day after. They requested advice on how to conveniently use public transportation in Tokyo. Originally the plan had been to meet at Haneda Airport at 09:00, but because the accommodation did not allow check-in until 11:00, the meeting place and start time were changed. The tour took place under cloudy skies, and partway through we were caught in heavy rain. The guests wished to buy a 72-hour subway pass and travel mainly by subway, so we purchased it at Ikebukuro Station. After that, following their wishes, we headed to Asakusa. As always, it was extremely crowded. Starting from in front of Kaminarimon Gate, I explained the history of Sensoji Temple and the transition from Edo to Tokyo, the purpose of the five-story pagoda, what Buddhism is, and the difference between Buddhism and Shinto. We first took commemorative photos in front of Kaminarimon Gate, then took more photos in front of the five-story pagoda and at various spots, strolling slowly along the Nakamise shopping street. There were questions such as "What are the major religions in Japan?", "How many Buddhists are there in Japan?", "Besides Buddhism, what other religions do people follow?", and "Are there Catholics in Japan?" The guests wanted to stop by a famous matcha cafe in Asakusa, so we headed toward a well-known matcha shop near Nitenmon Gate, but there was a very long line, so we gave up. At a nearby coffee shop, we bought and sampled matcha ice cream instead. We then moved to the Imperial Palace, where I explained the history from the Edo period to the Meiji period, the Meiji Restoration, and why Edo Castle became the Imperial Palace. It began to rain here. We moved to Shibuya. First, we took photos looking down on Shibuya Scramble Square from the entrance of the Keio Inokashira Line platform, and then actually crossed the intersection. There were questions such as "Why do so many people gather here?" and "Why did it become so famous?" We also took photos in front of the Hachiko statue. The guests commented, "Everyone in Japan is quiet and polite," and "The city is clean and there is no litter," and asked, "Why are there no trash cans on the streets?"     Since I have been mainly involved in the financing business in the United States for a long time, I think I am able to provide interpretation and translation services related to business and finance.
    I am a certified CPA in the United States.
    In addition, for three years from April 2016, I will be engaged in Japanese-English translation work (part-time), and I can also handle translation work.
    Although I don’t have a qualification in Spanish, but I think I can handle day to day conversation in Spanish without any problems.
    My hobby is trekking and from time to time, take a walk around mountains near Tokyo like Mt. Takao, Tanzawa, etc. I think it is possible to provide tourist information here as well.
    Since April 2015, I have been working as a Tokyo Metropolitan Tourism Volunteer and Tokyo Metropolitan Disaster Prevention Volunteer.
    One more, I have a separate house near Asuka Village, Nara prefecture, and I stay there for a total of about 30 days every year and have been enjoying sightseeing personally in the vicinity. Therefore, I think in the Kansai region, especially in Nara, Asuka, Yoshino, Koyasan, Kumano Kodo, etc., where I think I will be able to tour guide with confidence.

    What Can You See on a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour of Higashiyama? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America who wanted to focus their sightseeing on the Higashiyama area. At Fushimi Inari and Yasaka Shrine, I explained Japanese Shinto. After having lunch at a bistro in Gion, we walked along the Shirakawa stream and strolled through the Gion area, heading down toward Hanamikoji while I talked about geiko and maiko. At Kiyomizu-dera, I explained Buddhism and wooden architecture. Since one of the guests was interested in samurai, we visited Nijo Castle, and since they had never eaten sushi before, I introduced them to Japanese-style conveyor-belt sushi at Sushiro and Kura Sushi so they could enjoy a truly local experience.

    Title: What's a Family-Friendly Private Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Nishiki Market and Gion At the outset, I had some concerns about how the tour would unfold, as the request was: "We cannot travel very far, and we would like places where the young ones can also enjoy themselves. One of us would like to visit Gion." (I had previously guided a tour that ended before completing the full itinerary because the guests became restless.) When I confirmed the destination at the start of the tour, the guests said, "We would like to go to a market. We are hungry." As we walked toward Nishiki Market, it began to rain a little. I had been informed in advance that one of the guests followed a vegan diet. A vegan-friendly restaurant I had researched beforehand happened to be right beside us, so I suggested having lunch there. The guests agreed, so although it was a bit early, we decided to have lunch. It was a buffet-style meal, and since we had no reservation, the staff directed us to seats on the second floor. The food was on the first floor. The group split between those getting food on the first floor and those watching over the young ones at the seats. Since it would have been a shame for the guests not to be able to enjoy their meal at ease, I took the initiative to help look after the young ones as well. I occasionally held the infant, who laughed often and was very endearing. Although dishes were meant to be returned to a designated place, even the toddler carried the dishes independently and was very capable. After the meal, we walked toward Nishiki Market. Along the way, I explained the history of Nishiki Market. There was a painting by Ito Jakuchu at the entrance, and since one of the guests admired it, I explained the relationship between Nishiki Market and Jakuchu. Some of the guests wanted a snack break, so at Sasaya Iori they each ordered daifuku mochi. The infant was asleep, but the others, including the toddler, each ordered their favorite daifuku mochi and enjoyed them. With a guest's permission, I began to cut the mochi for the toddler with a knife, but the toddler burst into tears, insisting, "I'll do it myself!" I apologized for the mistake, but the guests kindly reassured me, saying, "That happens all the time, so please don't worry." Next, one of the guests seemed interested in tea utensils, so we stopped by a shop selling tea bowls. There happened to be a tea leaf shop right in front, so I was able to explain on the spot that there are many kinds and grades of tea leaves. We then arrived at Nishiki Tenmangu Shrine, where I explained the well that was the origin of Nishiki Market and that the deity of learning is enshrined there. It turned out that the guests were students at a university, and they prayed earnestly. I also explained that stroking the head of the ox statue and then one's own head is said to bring good fortune, and they tried it. They discovered a machine where, upon inserting a coin, a lion dance performs and draws an omikuji fortune, and some of the guests tried it themselves. By this point it was already 2 o'clock, so I was somewhat unsure whether we could walk to the geisha district, but since the guests were looking forward to it, we decided to head there. Along the way, some of the guests stopped at a shop in Teramachi Kyogoku to buy postcards and other items, which added to my concern about time. During the walk, I received questions—particularly about what role geisha play in Japanese society—so although I had initially planned to take them to the nearby Shinbashi area, I decided instead to take them to Hanamikoji, where posters of geisha and maiko make it easier to visualize. Since some of the guests were caring for the young ones, it was difficult to speak to everyone at once, and I worried whether all of the guests were satisfied with the tour. However, when I spoke with each of them individually, they each had questions, which gave me a glimpse that they wished to hear the guide's deeper explanations about Japanese culture. After showing them the exterior of the Kobu Kaburenjo Theater, one of the guests asked if there was a restroom nearby, so I led them through Kenninji Temple to the public restroom beside its west gate. There, we said our farewells. As luck would have it, the infant who had been asleep woke up, and the toddler who had been napping in the stroller also woke up. For me personally, it had been 20 years since I last held an infant, and it was a wonderful experience to observe up close how a family from Europe interacts with their young ones. In the photo, the infant was napping and one of the guests was shopping, so unfortunately they are not pictured, but I took it during the break at Sasaya Iori. Since the guests did not take this photo themselves, I plan to send it to them later.

    What Is a Private Guided Tour of Ise Jingu Shrine Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Although this was not the guests' first visit to Ise Jingu Shrine, they wished to learn about it in greater depth, so I guided them to the highlights while keeping an eye on the time, and I also provided information not found in guidebooks, which I believe left them satisfied. I took them to places that ordinary visitors do not go, allowing them to fully appreciate the profound depth of the shrine. On the day of the tour (the 21st), it happened to be the day when the sacred horses are presented at the shrine, making it a rare opportunity for the guests to see this. As for the daily food offering ceremony, although it is a ritual held every day at the Outer Shrine, it is not known to ordinary travelers, so I moved the tour start time up from the original 08:00 to 07:30 so that the guests could view it. I believe this made for a tour that could only be experienced with a guide and cannot be seen on a standard tour. At the Outer Shrine, I also guided the guests to the "Sengukan" museum located right near the main approach, and since it is an extremely useful facility for understanding the shrine well (the guests gave such a comment), I think it would be beneficial to add it to future tour routes. It has valuable exhibits such as a life-size model of the main sanctuary and the front doors of the main sanctuary, as well as panel explanations, video materials, and explanations by staff, allowing visitors to efficiently deepen their understanding of the shrine in about 30 minutes.

    GW期間中で他のツアーがすべて満席だったため、こちらからプライベートガイドを申し込みました。予約サイトから英語のメールが届き、ガイドの倉田さんと直接やり取りをして進める流れでした。
