Title: What Can You See on a Full-Day Private Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report on Tsukiji, Asakusa, and Shibuya Due to a system issue, the email exchange did not go through despite being sent multiple times, and communication was not successful until the day of the tour. It appears the other side had also been replying, but the messages did not reach me. Fortunately, we managed to get in touch just before the tour and were able to meet without any problem. As part of guide training, I introduced my fellow guide and we started the tour. We visited Tsukiji Market and Asakusa, and since the guests very much wanted to buy kitchen knives, we went around to Kappabashi, where they purchased as many as five knives at a famous shop. After that we handled the Tax Refund and took a taxi to Koishikawa Korakuen Garden. Following a light lunch, we strolled through the garden, then moved on to Meiji Shrine, and at Shibuya we visited the Hachiko statue and crossed the famous scramble crossing. Afterward we assisted with purchasing tickets. Thanks to being able to handle everything with two guides, things went smoothly and the guests were very pleased. I believe they enjoyed themselves.

    Kyoto Customized Half-Day Tour

    Tour Itinerary

    • Hotel 1300→Nijo Castle→Teramachi Shopping Street→1700 Nishiki Market

The guests were a cheerful family group visiting from Oceania. Although some of the guests used a mobility device and a stroller, everyone kept up energetically throughout the day, which was reassuring. At the Ninomaru Palace of Nijo Castle, the guests transferred to a dedicated wheelchair and were able to tour the interior in the same way as other visitors, which they found very satisfying. Afterward, they wished to visit Nishiki Market to combine sightseeing with lunchtime, so we traveled by subway, and since there were elevators everywhere, we were able to move around smoothly.

Since I completely retired from my position at a railway company and started being involved in the tour guide interpreter business, I have experienced almost all types of guiding through FIT, Long Group Tours, Cruises (Shore Excursions), Incentive Tours, Special Interest Tours (Railway Travel, Pilgrimages), Familiarization Tours (Sales Promotion Tours) etc.
However, I noticed that I am not fully satisfied to only be a general guide who just manages a tour itinerary provided by tour agents/clients.
High-end guests have sometimes requested me to answer some enquiries that are actually challenging to answer for Japanese nationals. However, I appreciated those because they provided such a challenge and I felt that they wanted to understand my sense of beauty/values as a guide concerning a new culture for them.
Every time I host my guest I do my best to prepare the most appropriate information based on three travel elements (appetite, logistics, accommodation). Nevertheless, I decided to aim for higher guiding skills after I was motivated by senior guides whose guiding strategies and gestures were particularly impressive.

What Is a Full-Day Private Tokyo Tour Like for First-Time Visitors? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Europe, on their first trip to Japan. They had arrived the previous morning and had already visited the Tokyo National Museum. After Tokyo, they had a packed schedule covering Kamakura, Nikko, Hakone, Kyoto, and Osaka. At the hotel, we started by confirming the itinerary we had aligned on before their arrival and, as a review of the Tokyo National Museum, I explained Japanese history before setting out. Everyone in the group had studied Japan very thoroughly beforehand, so they grasped my explanations quickly and asked well-focused questions. They asked not only about the places we visited but also many questions about Japanese politics, national character, and the Japanese language. Along the way, I also gave them a preview of Kamakura and Kyoto. The questions were rich in content and demanding, but it was very rewarding to guide such an engaged group. After today's tour, they had a reservation at Tokyo Skytree at 17:00, so I took them to the outbound platform of the Asakusa Line and we parted ways.

Hello! My name is Hideki Maruyama. I was born in Osaka and raised in the Greater Tokyo area. I obtained my National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter Certificate in February 2016.
I spent 23 years working at a leading Japanese automotive company, including 7 years posted overseas. I then worked for a German premium automotive manufacturer for 13 years, followed by 6 years as an advisor to a British energy company. Through these roles at global corporations, I developed and refined key skills such as:
    1. Cross-cultural communication
    2. A deep understanding of business elites and affluent customers
    3. The ability to deliver impactful and impressive presentations in English
In addition to my regular duties, I often served as an interpreter for top executives during meetings with foreign government officials. I also had opportunities to introduce aspects of Japan—such as our national character and consumer preferences—to leadership teams in both the German and British companies.
As a tour guide, I’ve had the pleasure of guiding guests from a wide range of countries especially after the pandemic, including the US, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Norway, Romania, Slovenia, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, India, Hong Kong, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Argentina, Columbia, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Laos, Turkey, Jordan, Kenya and Israel.
When guiding, I always keep in mind to go beyond what guests can find on social media or ChatGPT. I believe my professional background allows me to offer unique insights, and I am encouraged when guests mention this in their reviews

What's a Private Walking Tour of Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Today's guests were a group visiting from Europe. They were very supportive of the guide and moved in ways that made it easy to conduct the tour. Thanks to this, the tour proceeded as scheduled. They were also very considerate and finished a little early, saying they would make their own way back to the hotel. The route above involves a long walking distance, but they walked it without showing any sign of tiredness. The weather has been gradually getting cooler, and since it was before the busy season, there were not many crowds, so I believe the guests were able to enjoy a pleasant tour. This private walking tour was arranged through [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/), one of Japan's largest networks of government-licensed, English-speaking private tour guides serving all 47 prefectures.

    Tour Itinerary

    • 9:30 A-bombed trees & Structures/ Shirakamisha Shrine/Former Japan Bank
    • 9:50 Peace Memorial Museum
    • 11:15 Peace Memorial Park/ the Hypocentre
    • 12:50 End the tour at an Okonomiyaki restaurant

What Is a Private Walking Tour of Hiroshima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Oceania. The day before, they had enjoyed a visit to Miyajima. After the tour, they were heading to Tokyo, where they planned to meet another member of the group traveling in from Europe. After that, part of the group would return home, while the rest planned to continue enjoying their time in Japan. We walked from the Hotel to the museum, and along the way I guided them while sharing stories about the surviving atomic-bomb structures and the experiences of the survivors. We had talked about visiting Hiroshima Castle if there was time, but moving only on foot, it is indeed difficult to fit that into four hours.

Hi. I’m Michi. I’m a national licensed tour guide in English.
I want to introduce many faces and charms of Japan and make your stay in Japan more fascinating and satisfying.

I was born and raised in Hiroshima. My first tour in English was as a volunteer guide for the visitors to my school when I was a junior high school student. It gave me a great opportunity to study about the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima.
I spent my life in Hiroshima except for 6 years; 1 year in the UK as a student and 5 years working in Singapore and Malaysia. During this period I enjoyed meeting and talking with people from different cultural backgrounds.
These experiences encouraged me to be a licensed tour guide.

In Hiroshima, there are two famous World Heritage Sites, the Atomic Bomb Dome in the Hiroshima Peace Memorial & Itsukushima Shrine in Miyajima.
I have experienced many tours of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum & Park since I was a junior high school student. I would like to introduce you to the a-bomb legacies that are still existing in the city and the stories under the mushroom cloud.
I also would like to share time with you on a historic island, Miyajima. There is one of the most famous Shinto shrines, the Itsukushima Shrine. We can share an enjoyable time by exploring a sacred atmosphere, tradition, nature, food, etc.

I am also an official ‘A-bomb legacy successor’ designated by the City of Hiroshima. An A-bomb Legacy Successor is a memory keeper of the A-bomb survivors. To ensure that the A-bomb survivors’ experiences and desires for peace are faithfully inherited and shared with as many people as possible, the City has started a three-year training program for official ‘A-bomb Legacy Successors. ‘

Let me support your stay in Japan and I look forward to showing you the best of Japan!
    Hope to see you soon!

    Tour Itinerary

    • 10:00 Meet at the hotel
    • 11:00 Motohakone, Hakone Shrine
    • 12:45 Take the pirate ship to Togendai
    • 14:00 Owakudani
    • 15:00 Gora
    • 16:10 Hakone-Yumoto
    • The time was changed because a 10:00 start was requested at the last minute.

What Is a Private Day Tour of Hakone Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Oceania. They had already spent several days in Tokyo and Kyoto and chose Hakone as their final destination. They planned to fly home from Haneda on a flight that evening. It was their first time staying at a Japanese-style inn, and they enjoyed its traditional atmosphere. We first headed to Motohakone Port, and at Hakone Shrine I explained Shinto, its differences from Buddhism, and its influence on Japanese culture. The guests remarked that they wished they had known this before visiting Tokyo and Kyoto. At Owakudani, the guests showed strong interest in the black eggs, and one of the guests, who hopes to major in science or geology in the future, was especially eager to ask questions. They were also delighted by the various modes of transportation in Hakone and seemed to enjoy a tour unique to Hakone that cannot be experienced elsewhere. Finally, I took them to Hakone-Yumoto, the nearest point to their accommodation, and the tour concluded.

    Hello and welcome to Tokyo!

I have been working for business with American companies for many years. I have many experiences guiding customers from around the world in Japan and taking Japanese customers to the USA and Europe.

I now have a national license as a guiding interpreter, and I want to introduce the unique gigantic city of Tokyo and the traditional Japanese culture, which is not shown in the guidebooks, to people worldwide who are interested in it. In addition, I want to introduce various Japanese foods you can enjoy only in Japan.
Unique experiences such as the Sumo Training Viewing and Tea Ceremony are optionally available.
Depending on your preference and itinerary, I can guide you in Tokyo, Kamakura, and Hakone so that you can enjoy your time in Japan.

Can You Do a Private Day Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report on Skytree, Asakusa, and a Ninja Museum Today's guest was a visitor from Oceania traveling in Japan alone. We first made a reservation for Tokyo Skytree from the hotel, and after securing the booking, we headed to Skytree. I did not accompany them inside; instead, we decided on a meeting time and place, and the guest enjoyed the view freely for one hour. After that, we went to Asakusa, where we took commemorative photos in front of Kaminarimon Gate, Nakamise, and the five-story pagoda. The guest avoided drawing omikuji fortunes, feeling it might be a bit unnerving, and only purchased a good-luck charm. Afterward, the guest fully enjoyed sushi at a conveyor-belt sushi restaurant, then viewed food samples and knives at Kappabashi, before I took the guest to a ninja museum, where we parted ways.

What Does a Private Kyoto Walking Tour Cover? Fushimi Inari, Kiyomizu-dera, Kenninji, and Gion — A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. They had planned a trip to Japan some years earlier, but it had been canceled due to the pandemic, and this time they were finally able to make their trip to Japan come true. I took them to Fushimi Inari, Kiyomizu-dera, Kenninji, and Gion. They mentioned that they especially liked the quiet and calm atmosphere of Kenninji. I had not often taken guests to Kenninji before, but since they liked it more than expected, I would like to recommend it more in the future. The peak of the intense heat had passed, so the tour was much easier to conduct, and I believe it was comfortable for the guests as well. Kiyomizu-dera in particular was crowded with students on school excursions.

My name is (Mr.)Michiharu Aioi and I worked at Electronic Manufacturing Company (Panasonic) for more than 40 years in charge of overseas sales.
I learned a lot in these 40 years and now I would like to contribute to the promotion of mutual understanding with foreign countries being involved in tourism busines utilizing my long experience in my previous company. I will do my best to make each trip very fruitful for each foreign visitor.
As for my language ability, in addition to English, I can speak Spanish which I used in my job and I can communicate with Chinese people with intermediate level. Finally It is my great pleasure if my activity could work in the mutual understang with foreign visitors. Thanks a Lot !

What Does a Private One-Day Tour of Tokyo Look Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Today's guests were visitors from North America. We first visited Asakusa. Unlike usual, the weather today was very cool and pleasant, and the guests were delighted, saying how lucky they were. They enjoyed drawing omikuji fortune slips and buying omamori charms. Next we visited Kiyosumi Garden, where they fully enjoyed a classic Japanese garden. After that we moved to Meiji Shrine, where I explained the meaning of the torii gate bearing the imperial chrysanthemum crest, and they were impressed to learn that it is a shrine of great tradition and prestige. Finally we moved to Shibuya, where I explained why the Shibuya Crossing became so famous. We parted ways at the entrance to Shibuya Sky.

Day 1 of a Private Tokyo Tour for First-Time Visitors: A Licensed Guide's Report This was the first day of a private tour for guests visiting Japan for the first time from North America. Since they planned to stay for a little over ten days, including the Kansai region, we started with a lecture on an overview of Tokyo and the history of Japan. The first destination was Meiji Shrine, and the guests seemed deeply moved by the shrine's forest, which is a little over 100 years old. On the other hand, they also showed interest in animal cafes with many small animals, stopping at spots featuring hedgehogs, mini pigs, and even an otter cafe. Afterward, they enjoyed a large beef sandwich at a nearby sandwich shop and were very satisfied.
