Kyoto in One Day: Fushimi inari & Kinkakuji

    Tour Itinerary

    • 09:30 Fushimi inari (0) by taxi
    • 12:20 Bamboo Grove by JR train
    • 12:30 Tenryuji Garden (500) by walking
    • Lunch(Kura Sushi Kinkakuji Branch)
    • 14:30 Kinkakuji (500) by taxi
    • 15:40 Teramachi Shopping Arcade or Hotel by taxi
    • End of the tour

Title: What Is a Private Kyoto Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. Since I had received advance information that walking would be limited for part of the group, I removed Kiyomizu-dera Temple, which had been included at the start of the itinerary. As some of the guests could only eat gluten-free food, I looked up restaurants online in advance; when I checked, the restaurant in Arashiyama had discontinued its gluten-free options in May of this year, so we went instead to a conveyor-belt sushi restaurant near Kinkaku-ji Temple, our next destination. In the end we were able to enjoy a pleasant lunch there, which worked out well. Because the pace of walking was slow, the itinerary took longer than expected to complete. At the end, I took the guests to Teramachi shopping street, where we parted ways.

I’m Ryoichi Kazuma and my nickname is “Kazz”. I live in Kyotanabe city next to Kyoto city. I want guests to enjoy Kyoto by seeing and experiencing not only from outside but also from inside. I offer various information from daily matters to traditional cultures. Most destinations in Kyoto are located on the eastern side or the western side. As I want to guide guests to as many destinations as possible, I make an efficient itinerary and recommend a taxi use to save time. Additionally, I take pictures at various spots and finally share the link to my storage. By doing so, guests can download their favorite pictures from my storage. Please enjoy Kyoto night and day!

What Can You See on a Private Tour of Shibuya, Ueno, and Asakusa in Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report The guest was a visitor from North America. Since they had already visited Meiji Shrine two days earlier, we toured Shibuya, Ueno, and Asakusa on this private tour. At the underground shopping town in Shibuya, the guest bought some yakitori and was amazed by the wide variety on offer. We strolled leisurely through Ueno Park and took a short break with some soft-serve ice cream. The guest seemed to enjoy shopping very much, and had a wonderful time browsing the shops along Nakamise Street in Asakusa, where they enjoyed a skewer of strawberries. I had planned to take the guest to Tokyo Skytree, but since they wished to go shopping in Harajuku, I saw them into a taxi and we parted ways.

    • 14:10 End of tour

Title: What's a Full-Day Private Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Tokyo Station, the Imperial Palace, Shinjuku, Meiji Shrine, and Shibuya The guests were visitors from Oceania. They had arrived in Japan after spending several days in Asia, and after staying in Tokyo they planned to travel to Kyoto and Osaka before continuing to another destination in Asia. Their request in advance was to learn about the main tourist spots and how to use the trains and subways so they could make the most of their time in Tokyo. They also wanted to learn in detail about Japanese history and culture, so first, at Tokyo Station near their Hotel, I explained its history, the background of its architecture, and its role as a gateway to Japan. In front of the Imperial Palace and Nijubashi Bridge, I spoke about the history of the Imperial family and how the capital moved from Kyoto to Tokyo. They were deeply impressed by the grandeur and solemnity of the Imperial Palace. At Shinjuku Golden Gai, it happened to be the time when the Godzilla statue moves on schedule, so they enjoyed watching it. Since the guests enjoyed drinking, I introduced them to Golden Gai and Omoide Yokocho. At Meiji Shrine, we happened to come across a first-shrine-visit ceremony, and they were delighted to see this uniquely Japanese custom. Finally, I took them to the Shibuya Crossing, and as they wished to continue shopping afterward, I explained their way back and ended the tour.

    Hello and welcome to Tokyo!

I have been working for business with American companies for many years. I have many experiences guiding customers from around the world in Japan and taking Japanese customers to the USA and Europe.

I now have a national license as a guiding interpreter, and I want to introduce the unique gigantic city of Tokyo and the traditional Japanese culture, which is not shown in the guidebooks, to people worldwide who are interested in it. In addition, I want to introduce various Japanese foods you can enjoy only in Japan.
Unique experiences such as the Sumo Training Viewing and Tea Ceremony are optionally available.
Depending on your preference and itinerary, I can guide you in Tokyo, Kamakura, and Hakone so that you can enjoy your time in Japan.

  • Takayama Customized Private Tour in 1 Day

Takayama Customized Private Tour in 1 Day

    Tour Itinerary

    • HOTEL900→Takayama Jinya→Old townscape (Kami-Sannomachi)→Shimo-Ninomachi→Takayama Festival Floats Exhibition Hall→Sakurayama Hachimangu Shrine→Soba restaurant (lunch)→Shimo-Ninomachi→1500HOTEL

What Is a Private Guided Tour of Takayama Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Europe, the same group I had guided earlier in Kanazawa in September. Since I already had a good understanding of their preferences and the sightseeing spots they wished to visit, we were able to set off smoothly and follow the itinerary exactly as arranged beforehand. Among the sightseeing spots, the guests especially enjoyed Takayama Jinya and listened attentively to my explanations throughout. They also had a wonderful time at Sakurayama Hachimangu Shrine, including feeding the carp, and were in high spirits. At Shimoninomachi, the guests were able to enjoy some of their favorite shopping, including Japanese dolls, and we were able to conclude the tour on a very satisfying note.

Since I completely retired from my position at a railway company and started being involved in the tour guide interpreter business, I have experienced almost all types of guiding through FIT, Long Group Tours, Cruises (Shore Excursions), Incentive Tours, Special Interest Tours (Railway Travel, Pilgrimages), Familiarization Tours (Sales Promotion Tours) etc.
However, I noticed that I am not fully satisfied to only be a general guide who just manages a tour itinerary provided by tour agents/clients.
High-end guests have sometimes requested me to answer some enquiries that are actually challenging to answer for Japanese nationals. However, I appreciated those because they provided such a challenge and I felt that they wanted to understand my sense of beauty/values as a guide concerning a new culture for them.
Every time I host my guest I do my best to prepare the most appropriate information based on three travel elements (appetite, logistics, accommodation). Nevertheless, I decided to aim for higher guiding skills after I was motivated by senior guides whose guiding strategies and gestures were particularly impressive.

Title: What's a Private Half-Day Tour of Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Fushimi Inari and Arashiyama The guests on this occasion were visitors from North America touring Japan. Prior arrangements, such as discussing the itinerary, were made in advance with one of the guests. Regarding the destinations, they said, "We definitely want to see the bamboo grove and a Japanese garden in Arashiyama, but we'll leave the other places up to you as our guide." Taking advantage of the excellent fact that their hotel was located along the approach to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, I ultimately proposed "Kiyomizu-dera → Fushimi Inari → Arashiyama → Gion," and they agreed. However, on the day itself, when we met at the 1:00 p.m. meeting time and I began explaining the itinerary, one of the guests requested, "We moved to Kyoto from the Tokyo area before noon today, so we don't have much time to spare and are a little tired. Could you shorten the 6-hour course by two hours to make it a 4-hour course? We understand that because this is a same-day change, there will be no refund of the guide fee." In response to this request, I said, "Kiyomizu-dera and Gion are both close to the hotel and can be enjoyed on another day without a guide. It's a bit of a distance, but I suggest Fushimi Inari → Arashiyama (bamboo grove → Tenryu-ji → Togetsukyo Bridge)." The guests agreed with my proposal, and the 4-hour course (two locations) was confirmed. Once the actual tour began, the guests were, far from being "tired," full of energy — so much so that even I as the guide found myself walking quickly to keep up. With a strong interest in Japanese culture and history, they listened attentively to my explanations about religion (Shinto and Buddhism) and history, and asked many related questions. Although there was a major change to the itinerary, it turned out to be an enjoyable half-day tour, and it was a pleasure to guide such refreshing and energetic guests.

Hi, everyone! I’m Norifumi Kamon, a government registered guide interpreter. Please call me “Nori”, or “Kamon-san”.
Let me introdece myself. I was born on April 17th in 1952 in Miyazaki prefecture in Kyushu island. I used to be an English teacher of Osaka Prefectural high school. When I retired from a teacher ten years ago, I decided to get a professional guide license. I wanted to play a role of the bridge between Japanese people and the people from all over the world as a second life of mine. After two years efforts, I finally got the guide license. Since then, I have guided several handreds of foreign people mainly in Kyoto and Nara for about five years except Corona Pandemic period. Almost all the tourists were deeply impressed by the beauty of nature, traditoin, culture, and art of Japan. I can surely help you enjoy and be satisfied with the sightseeing in Japan. And I’m looking forward to seeing you soon.

What Can You See on a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour from Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report Today's tour was for guests visiting Japan from North America. After spending time in Tokyo, they arrived in Kyoto this morning. We visited Ninna-ji and Ryoan-ji, which they had requested, and since neither was very crowded, they were able to enjoy them at a relaxed pace. I then recommended and took them to the popular Kinkaku-ji (the Golden Pavilion), and they appeared very satisfied. After that, in the early evening, we walked along the Kamo River, through Pontocho Street, and along Hanami-koji in Gion, and we were very lucky that a geiko happened to walk right in front of us. Gion at dusk was truly beautiful, and I believe the guests were very pleased.

Title: What Are the Best Japanese Garden Tours in Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Today's guests were visitors from North America. They mentioned that this trip to Japan was a second special holiday for them. Since the theme of the tour was visiting beautiful Japanese gardens, they chose spots known for their stunning Japanese gardens listed above. As they had selected a pond-style garden and a strolling garden, I introduced and planned to take them to Nanzen-ji, which has a beautiful dry landscape (karesansui) garden, but unfortunately it began to rain, so we ended up not going. They were very disappointed about this, but I believe they were able to fully enjoy the beautiful gardens of Kyoto.

Title: What's a Private Cultural and History Tour of Kanazawa Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from North America. Although they could not speak any Japanese, they had a strong interest in the culture and history of Kanazawa, which is why they included it in this tour. During the tour, the guests asked a wide variety of questions, so my explanations at each spot became quite long. To make up for this, I arranged things so that after the tour they could visit on their own the places we had not been able to see during the tour. Although rain had been forecast, there were no major changes in the weather, and the guests enjoyed the tour. This private tour was arranged through [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/), one of Japan's largest networks of government-licensed, English-speaking private tour guides serving all 47 prefectures.

What Can You See on a 4-Hour Private Kyoto Tour for Crafts and Gardens? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Europe. They had two main requests: first, to see and purchase Japanese traditional crafts, handmade goods, and pottery; and second, to see traditional or contemporary Japanese gardens. Taking into account the location of their hotel and a 4-hour guided tour, I decided on the Kyoto Imperial Palace, a handicraft center, and, if time allowed, the Shin-en garden at Heian Shrine. The guests agreed to this plan, and we began the tour. The visit to the Kyoto Imperial Palace went as scheduled. At the handicraft center, the guests took their time browsing and purchased several handmade items (such as a tea caddy, a lacquered small box, a furoshiki wrapping cloth, and a handkerchief, as well as a ceramic plate and a lantern-shaped wind chime). Since shopping was the main focus of the day, I waited patiently until the guests were fully satisfied. Afterward, I guided them through the garden at Heian Shrine, and we parted ways at Higashiyama Station on the subway. They did not show much emotion, but I believe they were most likely satisfied with the tour.

I am an experienced guide, who live in Osaka. I have been a Government-Licensed Guide in English since 2018. I have already guided a lot of tourists overseas in Kansai Area, that is, in the vicinity of my prefecture, Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Kobe, and Himeji. I am especially good at guiding in Kansai Area with sufficient knowledge of history, culture and transportation. I have guided people ranging from a small group of one or two to a group of 20-50 people in a big bus, that is, a coach. I like delicious food, because Osaka is a city of Kuidaorre, which means that people in Osaka love to eat and never spend too much money on food. Therefore, as an Osakan, I will do my best to explore restaurants which serve most delicious foods in wherever I take to my guests.

What Is a Private One-Day Tour of Central Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from Oceania. Two days earlier, they had arrived at Narita Airport via a connecting flight, and after arrival took a taxi to their hotel. The previous day, they had explored areas such as Asakusa, Tsukiji, and teamLab. The guests were on a trip to Japan lasting about 14 days in total. After staying in Tokyo for four days, they planned to visit Mount Fuji, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, Hiroshima, Kanazawa, and Hida-Takayama, before returning to Tokyo and heading home. Today, the guests wished to visit notable spots around the city. It was a tour under weather that felt like the beginning of autumn. First, we walked from the hotel to the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace. I explained about "the history from the Edo period to the Meiji era," "the Meiji Restoration," and "why Edo Castle became the Imperial Palace." There were questions such as "What happened to the shoguns and samurai after the Meiji Restoration?", "I've seen 'The Last Samurai,'" "Does the current Emperor of Japan hold political power?", and "Who will be the next Emperor?" We moved to Akihabara. I explained about "the origins and current state of Akihabara." There were also comments and explanations such as "I once bought a Japanese transistor and assembled a radio," and "What kind of place is a maid café?" The guests purchased a plastic model kit as a souvenir. We moved to Harajuku, first to Meiji Shrine. I explained about "Shinto," "torii gates," "Emperor Meiji," "why sake barrels are displayed here," and "why wine barrels are displayed here." There were questions such as "The atmosphere is completely different from Sensoji Temple yesterday," and "How do Buddhism and Shinto differ?" The guests took a relaxed break at the Cafe Terrace at Meiji Shrine. They enjoyed a beer (saying "I've come to really love Japanese beer.") Afterward, we strolled along Takeshita Street and Cat Street. The comment was made: "I can't really get to like animal cafés." We moved to Shibuya. First, we looked down on Scramble Square from the entrance of the Keio Inokashira Line platform and took photos, then actually crossed the intersection. There were questions such as "Why do so many people gather here?" and "Why did it become famous?" We also took photos in front of the Hachiko statue. (One of the guests keeps a dog at home and loves dogs.) Afterward, we strolled once around Center Gai. There were also comments and questions such as "Japanese people are all quiet and polite," "The city is clean and there's no litter on the ground," "Why are there no trash cans on the streets?", and "Are there no homeless people?" As the guests wished to return to the hotel, we saw them off at Otemachi Station and parted ways.

    Guiding career:
Guide work started in July 2022. A guide focused on FIT compliance.
    FY2022 results: 17 cases, FY2023 results: 97
Destinations: Various places in Tokyo, Hakone, Kamakura and Nikko
As a recent group travel record, in October 2023, we have a track record of guiding a group of 33 people from Singapore to Narita Airport transfer plus sightseeing in Tokyo.
    Self-introduction:
In the past, I was stationed in Canada, the United States, and Mexico as an expatriate of a Japanese bank for over 11 years.
Since I have been mainly involved in the financing business in the United States for a long time, I think I am able to provide interpretation and translation services related to business and finance.
I am a certified CPA in the United States.
In addition, for three years from April 2016, I will be engaged in Japanese-English translation work (part-time), and I can also handle translation work.
Although I don’t have a qualification in Spanish, but I think I can handle day to day conversation in Spanish without any problems.
My hobby is trekking and from time to time, take a walk around mountains near Tokyo like Mt. Takao, Tanzawa, etc. I think it is possible to provide tourist information here as well.
Since April 2015, I have been working as a Tokyo Metropolitan Tourism Volunteer and Tokyo Metropolitan Disaster Prevention Volunteer.
One more, I have a separate house near Asuka Village, Nara prefecture, and I stay there for a total of about 30 days every year and have been enjoying sightseeing personally in the vicinity. Therefore, I think in the Kansai region, especially in Nara, Asuka, Yoshino, Koyasan, Kumano Kodo, etc., where I think I will be able to tour guide with confidence.
