During the meal, I introduced the structure of the Japanese writing system, including kanji, and we had an enjoyable time together. One of the guests loved taking photographs, and at Owakudani the volcanic steam was very active today, making it a spectacular sight worth filming on video. On the pirate ship, the guests enjoyed the full journey on deck, taking in the natural scenery of Hakone, while I looked after the luggage. At Hakone Shrine, we went as far as the red torii gate, and here too the guests took many photos here and there. The guests also greatly enjoyed the mechanical puppet presentation at a local shop and purchased some souvenirs. Since they were taking the 17:05 bullet train to Kyoto, thanks to the kindness of the Hotel, they were driven by car together with their luggage from the Hakone Checkpoint to Odawara Station.

What Is a Private Full-Day Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Meiji Shrine and Harajuku The guests were a group visiting Japan. We started at 8:00 in the morning and visited three places, but since they requested that the final destination be Meiji Shrine, we considered lunch options in Harajuku. As one of the guests preferred a meat-free meal, I took them to a ramen shop that offered a vegan menu. It was the day after their arrival, so I was a little concerned about jet lag and the fairly high temperature, but they walked around very well. Since there is no public transportation like trains where they live in North America, they were delighted to travel by train and bus. Understandably, by the time we finished after 2:00 in the afternoon, one of the guests mentioned feeling tired and wanting to head back to the hotel.

What Can You See on a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report Today I guided a group visiting from North America on a private one-day tour of Kyoto. They wanted to see as many popular spots as possible. At first they had given up on the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove after hearing it gets very crowded, but I suggested we go there first thing in the morning, and we slightly adjusted the planned itinerary. Thanks to the taxi driver's quick thinking, we were able to complete the entire packed itinerary. The guests were amazed by the beauty of Kinkaku-ji, and since the Senbon Torii at Fushimi Inari Taisha was less crowded in the evening, I believe they enjoyed it as well.

What's a Full-Day Private Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report In the morning, a suspicious object was found inside Kyoto Station, so we moved by Shinkansen and managed to make it in time. Thanks to the cooperation of the driver, we were able to start on schedule. At Adashino Nenbutsuji and Otagi Nenbutsuji, the guests looked around with great interest. At the gate of Kinkakuji, one of the guests tripped and fell, and I was worried about what might happen, but everything was fine. I took the group to a conveyor-belt sushi restaurant, and they were delighted. They also seemed to enjoy the reward game there. At Fushimi Inari Taisha, I introduced the "Neage no Matsu" pine and we took photos, and they bought a red torii ema as an ornament for their Christmas tree. The tour was scheduled to end at Kiyomizudera, and although we ran slightly over time, I gave at least a brief explanation. We parted at Kiyomizudera, but the guests sent me a photo of them enjoying shaved ice, and they seemed very happy to have some sweets they had been wanting. They were very pleasant guests.

Title: What Is a Private Walking Tour of Fukuoka Like? A Licensed Guide's Report We met at 9:14 and completed the tour. When I was waiting outside the hotel at 8:45, hotel staff were talking with the guests. When I told a staff member that I had come as a guide to pick up guests, I was told, "This is not a hotel that anyone can enter, so I will contact the hotel reception." After they made the call, I waited from 8:50 in the lobby on the first basement floor of the hotel. As it turned out, the two people who had been talking with the hotel staff were in fact my guests. When I asked the hotel whether the guests were staying there, they would not tell me because it is personal information. At 9:11, I called the agent who had booked this tour, but I was told, "Please call again later." After that, the staff member who had been outside came to me and asked whether they might be my guests. We were then able to meet at 9:15, but I was scolded with an intensity that felt somewhat unreasonable. First, since I had communicated "Meeting time: 9:00am, Meeting place: Lounge (Basement Floor 1) of the Hotel," I naturally assumed the guests would be in the lounge, and when I said it was a walking tour, I was scolded even more. It seems they had assumed it was a tour with a vehicle. This was apparently mixed up with the fact that a taxi was scheduled to pick them up at the hotel at 4:00 today, take them to Hakata Station, and then they would head to Hiroshima by Shinkansen. At the end of the tour, the guests said that they had been mistaken about the tour including a vehicle. I was told things like "you did not properly display the (guest's) name," and indeed I think it might have been better if I had shown the name to the people who were initially talking with the staff. However, because it was a private guest's name, I did not show it to just anyone; instead, inside the hotel lounge, I showed the name to those coming out of the elevator to check whether the guests were coming down. In addition, the tour content presented by the travel agency and the tour content I presented were different. I had provided the travel agency with an itinerary that was feasible as a walking tour. In the end, I believe the cause was that the travel agency had not properly provided the guests with information, and that the guests had misunderstood the tour. I had the impression that the atmosphere gradually softened as the tour progressed, but I think the guests will file a complaint with the travel agency. Even though I had been waiting in the hotel lobby, which was the designated meeting place, I was told things like "I have come to dislike Fukuoka," which felt very unreasonable. As evidence, I took photos of the tour images the guests showed me, so I am attaching them.

Title: What Can You See on a Private Day Tour of Eastern Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan from North America, with some of the group visiting Japan for the first time and another having visited once before. One of the group had a long career and was now retired. They had arrived at Narita Airport via a connecting flight two days earlier, taking a taxi to their hotel, and had strolled around Ginza the previous evening. The group requested a slow-paced walk. This was part of a roughly 14-day trip to Japan, with about four days in Tokyo followed by visits to Mount Fuji, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, and Hiroshima, before returning to Tokyo and heading home. Today the group wished to visit notable spots on the eastern side of the city. The tour took place under early-autumn skies, though it was still quite hot. First, we went to Tsukiji, which was very crowded with tourists. We strolled through Tsukiji Uogashi and then the Outer Market. I explained the history of Tokyo's fish market from the Edo period and the difference between Toyosu Market and the Tsukiji Outer Market. There were questions and comments such as, "Do all Tokyo residents come here to buy fish?" and "It's crowded, but it really seems like there are a lot of tourists." At the group's request, we bought and sampled tuna sushi, matcha ice cream, and mango ice cream. One of the group mentioned that there are no fish markets back home. From here, we walked to Hamarikyu Gardens. The group remarked, "The Japanese garden is wonderful, and the pine trees are especially beautiful," but also said they were tired from the long walk, so we rested at the tea house. We walked back to Tsukiji Station and headed to Asakusa. Starting from the front of Kaminarimon Gate, I explained the history of Sensoji Temple and Edo becoming Tokyo, the purpose of the five-story pagoda, what Buddhism is, and the differences between Buddhism and Shinto. We took commemorative photos at Kaminarimon, in front of the pagoda, and various other spots, and strolled slowly through the Nakamise shopping street. There were questions such as, "What are the main religions in Japan?", "How many Buddhists are there in Japan?", "Besides Buddhism, what other religions do people follow?", "Are there Christians in Japan?", and "Are there weekly sermons like a pastor gives at church?" We took a break at a coffee shop. We then moved to the Imperial Palace. I explained the history from the Edo period into the Meiji era, the Meiji Restoration, and why Edo Castle became the Imperial Palace. There were questions such as, "What happened to the shoguns and samurai after the Meiji Restoration?", "I've seen 'The Last Samurai,'" "Does the current Emperor of Japan hold any political power?", and "Who will be the next Emperor?" There were also comments and questions like, "Japanese people are all so quiet and polite," "Why aren't there trash cans on the streets?", and "Are there no homeless people?" As the group said they were tired and wished to return to their hotel, I saw them off at Kyobashi Station, and we parted ways.

In the past, I was stationed in Canada, the United States, and Mexico as an expatriate of a Japanese bank for over 11 years.
Since I have been mainly involved in the financing business in the United States for a long time, I think I am able to provide interpretation and translation services related to business and finance.

Title: What Is a Private One-Day Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, Harajuku, and Shibuya The guests were visiting Japan for the first time, arriving from Europe. They arrived at Haneda Airport last night via a connecting flight and took a taxi to their accommodation. Yesterday they explored the area around their hotel. This time they were on a 14-day trip to Japan, planning to stay in Tokyo before traveling on to Kyoto, Osaka, and Hiroshima, then departing from Kansai Airport to continue their journey and eventually return home. They asked me first to teach them how to use public transportation in Tokyo. The weather was clear but hot and humid throughout the tour. They had already purchased a Welcome Suica card. We started with Asakusa, which was as crowded as ever. Beginning from the front of Kaminarimon Gate, I explained "the history of Sensoji Temple and the transition from Edo to Tokyo," "what the five-story pagoda is for," "what Buddhism is," and "the difference between Buddhism and Shinto." We took commemorative photos at Kaminarimon, in front of the five-story pagoda, and at various spots, then strolled slowly through the Nakamise shopping street. There were questions such as "What are the main religions in Japan?", "How many Buddhists are there in Japan?", "What other religions do people believe in?", and "Are there Catholics in Japan?" Next we moved to Harajuku. I explained "about Shinto," "about torii gates," "about Emperor Meiji," "why sake barrels are displayed," and "why wine barrels are displayed." They asked, "This is completely different from Sensoji Temple yesterday," and "How do Buddhism and Shinto differ?" We took a relaxed break at the cafe terrace at Meiji Shrine, where they enjoyed a beer. After that, we also strolled along Takeshita Street. From there we moved to Shibuya. First, we took photos looking down at Scramble Square from the entrance of the Keio Inokashira Line platform, then actually crossed the intersection. There were questions such as "Why do so many people gather here?" and "Why did it become so famous?" We also took photos in front of the Hachiko statue, and they eagerly photographed the 3D panda billboard. They commented and asked, "Japanese people are all quiet and polite," "The whole city is clean with no litter," and "Why are there no trash cans on the streets?" Since they were still not used to the public transportation, I saw them off at Iidabashi Station, where we parted ways.

Since I have been mainly involved in the financing business in the United States for a long time, I think I am able to provide interpretation and translation services related to business and finance.
I am a certified CPA in the United States.
In addition, for three years from April 2016, I will be engaged in Japanese-English translation work (part-time), and I can also handle translation work.
Although I don’t have a qualification in Spanish, but I think I can handle day to day conversation in Spanish without any problems.
My hobby is trekking and from time to time, take a walk around mountains near Tokyo like Mt. Takao, Tanzawa, etc. I think it is possible to provide tourist information here as well.
Since April 2015, I have been working as a Tokyo Metropolitan Tourism Volunteer and Tokyo Metropolitan Disaster Prevention Volunteer.
One more, I have a separate house near Asuka Village, Nara prefecture, and I stay there for a total of about 30 days every year and have been enjoying sightseeing personally in the vicinity. Therefore, I think in the Kansai region, especially in Nara, Asuka, Yoshino, Koyasan, Kumano Kodo, etc., where I think I will be able to tour guide with confidence.

What's a Full-Day Private Tour of Tokyo Like for First-Time Visitors? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Oceania. They had arrived in Japan the previous day and planned to stay in Tokyo for their entire trip. From tomorrow onward they seemed to have plans such as visiting Tokyo Disneyland and sightseeing around Mount Fuji, but today's tour focused on introducing the main areas of the city while helping them learn how to use public transportation. At the first stop, the Tsukiji Outer Market, the guests enjoyed the unique food culture. At Namiyoke Shrine and Higashi Honganji Temple, I explained the difference between temples and shrines, and how Shinto and Buddhism have influenced Japanese culture. They were delighted to gain a good understanding of that background. In Ginza and around the Imperial Palace, they mentioned they would like to visit again from tomorrow onward, so I also introduced the places they should see there. In Asakusa, they were surprised by the sheer size of the crowds and said they would like to return another day. Finally, at the request of one of the guests, I took them to Akihabara, where the tour concluded.

What Is a Private Tokyo Day Tour Like for First-Time Visitors? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from North America. One of the guests enjoys manga, anime, and computer games as a hobby, and had spent the entire previous day in Akihabara, so some of the group seemed a little tired. We started a bit later than planned and proceeded at a relaxed pace. When I explained at our first stop, Meiji Shrine, that the surrounding forest is a man-made forest just over a hundred years old, the guests were amazed. We navigated the Shibuya Scramble Crossing without any trouble, and after guiding the group to Parco, the tour came to an end.
