What Is a Private Nara Day Tour Like for Guests from North America? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. Right up until the tour began, there were sudden bursts of rain that made me a little worried, but we were blessed with calm weather throughout the tour. One of the guests was a little afraid of the deer at first but quickly mastered how to make them bow. From then on, they walked energetically and at quite a good pace almost until the very end. At Kasuga Taisha Shrine, when I explained that the votive wooden plaques are called "ema," it got a great laugh because it sounded like a name. I had received information from a guide who had led the same guests earlier that they liked soba and tempura, but it seemed they preferred udon this time. Many thanks to the earlier guide for sharing that information.

Hello! Thank you for choosing Nara! I bet you’ll love Nara. I specialize in Nara because Nara is the unique place where in one day you can cover the history and religions of Japan from the ancient times to the post war era while enjoying rambling in the UNESCO World Heritage park, having communication with lovely deer, surrounded with the beautiful nature.
I grew up in Nara, went university in Kyoto, enjoyed teaching at high schools and a university in Osaka. The three former capitals of Japan are home to me.
After retiring from teaching I began guiding so that I can meet various people from various corners of the world with a variety of cultures and backgrounds. Each time I guide, I find it hugely rewarding because I learn a lot from my guests sharing the history, culture and all that I know about Nara, Kyoto and Osaka.
I used to be a marathon runner, mountain climber and skier though I am not much of them anymore.
What I especially recommend is to stay in Nara a couple of days and enjoy communicating with friendly deer while visiting UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Nara in early morning, temples and shrines at night are well worth experiencing.

Title: What Does a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Cover? Fushimi Inari, Kiyomizu-dera, Kinkaku-ji, and Arashiyama — A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. None of them appeared to be staying at the Hotel. We first went to Fushimi Inari Taisha. I explained how to purify the hands and mouth at the water pavilion before praying. I then guided them to the front of the main hall and shared the etiquette of two bows, two claps, stating a wish, and one final bow. After passing through the Senbon Torii, we reached the "Oku-no-in." To its far right is a stone called the "Omokaru-ishi." First, you make a wish in front of the lantern. Then you lift the round stone placed on top of the lantern. They were fascinated by the idea that if the stone feels lighter than expected, the wish will come true, and they enthusiastically gave it a try. The second stop was Kiyomizu-dera. They reacted with disbelief to stories such as the main hall having been donated by Tokugawa Iemitsu in 1633, and that 234 people once jumped from the Kiyomizu stage, of whom 200 survived. They were moved by the view from the observation platform. The third stop was Kinkaku-ji. They were especially impressed by the golden shine of Kinkaku-ji and took many photos. At the souvenir shop, they purchased many items. Finally, we visited Tenryu-ji, the Sagano Bamboo Grove, and Arashiyama Park. They were interested in the beauty of the bamboo grove, the view from Arashiyama Park, and the story behind the name of the Togetsukyo Bridge.

I have been an English teacher since 1979. In 2024, I obtained the national qualification of Certified Guide Interpreter.
Currently, after retiring, I teach English as a part-time lecturer at a Hyogo Prefectural High School.
My hobbies are tennis, table tennis, traveling, studying English, and Japanese history.
I play tennis and table tennis twice a week. I love traveling because I can see beautiful scenery and learn about Japanese history.
I chose Kyoto and Nara prefectures as my guiding locations. Both were once the capitals of Japan.
Kyoto was the residence of emperors from 794 to 1868 and was a stage for Japanese history.
It has beautiful scenery, Japanese history, magnificent buildings and gardens, and delicious food.
I would like to share the charms of Japan with foreign tourists as much as possible.
I live in Amagasaki City, which is adjacent to Osaka. Kyoto is a little far from my home,
but I would like to leave home early in the morning and enjoy traveling with my guests.
    Thank you for your consideration.

Kanagawa in Half a Day: Negishi Station & Yamashita Park

    Tour Itinerary

    • 10:00 Negishi Station
    • 10:30 Sankeien Garden
    • 12:20 Chinatown
    • 13:00 Marine Tower
    • 13:40 Yamashita Park
    • 14:20 Disband @ Red Brick Warehouse

Title: What Is a Private Yokohama Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Sankeien Garden and Chinatown I guided a group visiting from the Middle East and North America. They showed a strong interest in the beautiful scenery, plants, and buildings of Sankeien Garden and asked many questions. When they asked why the gardeners were pruning with scissors instead of using machines, I approached one of the gardeners, who was friendly, and asked on their behalf. He gave a detailed explanation, which I interpreted, and the guests were satisfied. The gassho-style thatched house that is usually open to enter is about to undergo renovation, so it can no longer be viewed from inside, and once the work begins it will not be viewable from outside either. Today a local guide was still there, so a detailed explanation was possible, which was very helpful. Since we missed the scheduled bus, we went to Chinatown from a different bus stop than the one shown on Google. In Chinatown, they enjoyed tapioca drinks. When planning the itinerary, I had recommended the Marine Tower, where they enjoyed the view of the harbor. This spot likely offers a view beyond expectations, so I recommend it and hope it can be included in tour itineraries. We walked from Yamashita Park to the Red Brick Warehouse, and upon arrival they said they wanted to have lunch. As they preferred a Japanese restaurant, I guided them to one. Since it was before the scheduled end time of the tour, I checked with them, but they said we could finish there, so I explained how to get back to their hotel in Shinagawa, and the tour concluded.

What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Fushimi Inari, Nijo Castle, Kinkaku-ji, and Arashiyama The guests were visiting Japan for the first time, arriving from North America, and had entered through Osaka two days earlier. They both had Mobile Suica, so we mainly used public transportation to get around. I thought it would be best to visit Fushimi Inari Taisha before it got crowded, so we went there first. Thanks to that, it was not too crowded and we could stroll around at a relaxed pace. One of the guests had a DSLR camera and took many photos. At Nijo Castle, we occasionally saw large groups of overseas visitors, but it was relatively uncrowded, which made it easy to guide. I was asked about the reasons behind the return of political power to the emperor and the relationship between the shogun and the emperor, so I explained the history of the end of the Edo period and gave a general overview of how Japan transitioned into a samurai-led society. Since it did not look like a bus from Nijo Castle to Kinkaku-ji would come for a while, we took a taxi for this leg of the trip. At Kinkaku-ji, it drizzled a little, but not enough to affect our sightseeing. After visiting the Arashiyama bamboo grove, walking down through Kameyama Park, and guiding them to Togetsukyo Bridge, we parted ways on the spot at the guests' request.

Title: What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour With Kids Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Oceania. The day before, they had joined a food tour in Osaka, but on the way back they took the wrong train and did not return to their Hotel until after 11 p.m., so everyone in the group seemed tired. We followed the itinerary as planned, but took a couple of short breaks along the way. The younger members of the group became especially energetic when feeding the carp in the moat at Nijo Castle and when enjoying sweets at Nishiki Market. Since the group wanted to eat more around Nishiki Market, I suggested we visit Kiyomizu-dera Temple and then return to Nishiki Market afterward. They were also greatly impressed by the cake and sweets section in the basement food floor of Daimaru in Kyoto, as they mentioned that department stores where they live do not have food sections. After the tour ended, I imagine the guests enjoyed a second round of eating at Nishiki Market and shopping in the department store's basement food floor.

What Is a Private Hiroshima Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Rain had been forecast for the day, but it turned out to be only a light drizzle, so the fresh green of the trees at Peace Memorial Park and Shukkeien Garden looked vivid, and the guests were delighted. The inside of the Atomic Bomb Museum was quite crowded, so there was a lot of time spent waiting and standing in line, and the guests looked a little tired. However, they said they had learned a great deal at Peace Memorial Park. When I took them to Okonomimura for lunch, they were impressed by the Japanese atmosphere of the restaurant and the deliciousness of the okonomiyaki. As a guide, I was also able to learn many things. Thank you very much. I had not taken any photos during the guiding, so I only had a photo of the cruise ship. I sincerely apologize for this. Title: What's an Early-Morning Toyosu Tuna Auction Tour in Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report On the final early morning of a long trip to Japan, the guests joined a tour to observe the tuna auction at Toyosu. Because of this, the guests looked tired and their energy was a bit low when they arrived at Toyosu, but once the auction began they watched intently and enjoyed it greatly. After the auction, the guests enjoyed a sushi breakfast at a sushi restaurant, and they were amazed at how the quality differed from the sushi they had eaten in North America. Since the sushi at Toyosu had filled them up, the guests then enjoyed strawberry daifuku from Soratsuki as a dessert, after which they went looking for tea, sampling it at several shops and purchasing the tea they liked best (they were especially fond of the genmaicha). There is nothing in particular to note. I would like to continue striving to help guests understand Japanese food culture.

At Hokoku-ji, they were moved by the beautiful bamboo garden and enjoyed matcha for the first time. What Is a Private Tokyo Tour to Toyosu Market Like? A Licensed Guide's Report This was the second day of the tour for the guests visiting from North America, most of whom were in Japan for the first time. One of the guests had visited Japan about 20 years ago and had been to the fish market that used to be in Tsukiji. After Tokyo, the group planned to visit Hakone and Kyoto, staying in Japan for about 10 days. We arrived at Toyosu Market about 10 minutes from the hotel, where the guests took photos in front of the large tuna model and watched a video explaining how the market works. They waited for the tuna auction to begin, and when it started, they were amazed by its intensity and the efficiency of the process. They thoroughly enjoyed the sushi they had for breakfast.

What Is a Private Miyajima Tour Like at the End of a Japan Trip? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a wonderful, close-knit group visiting Japan for the first time from North America. After traveling through Tokyo, Osaka, Nara, Amanohashidate, and Kyoto, they came to Miyajima at the very end of their journey. Guests who enjoy the big cities and arrive in Hiroshima last are often quite tired from their travels, but they were both very energetic, which surprised and delighted me. They mentioned that they had found it difficult to adjust to Japanese food and had spent most of the trip eating at a fast-food chain. Their time in Hiroshima was short, so I guided them only around Miyajima and there was no time to see the city of Hiroshima itself. However, since I learned that one of the guests was also interested in peace-related topics, we talked a little about it on the JR train on the way back. What stood out to me was their comment that getting around the large cities had been confusing, so they often had no choice but to take taxis, sometimes costing as much as 300 dollars at once, and at times ended up in unnecessarily large vehicles. Since they were concerned that the link sent from the tour company was not working, I took a photo of the messaging app just in case and shared it with your company by email.

Hi, nice to meet you! I am Emmy. I am so honored and happy to be your guide.
I had been teaching at a local university in Hiroshima. After I got retired in March 2023, I started guiding. I was born and raised in Hiroshima. I love communicating with people all over the world more than anything, so I have been involved in home visit, homestay, volunteer guide for people from foreign countries.
I always hope that our guests will take away lots of positive energy from Hiroshima, a city that was resilient and revived like a phoenix, in spite of its sad history.
While realizing customers’ wishes, I will introduce you the beauty of Hiroshima, Miyajima and so on, which are tranquil and peaceful places with a unique charm that cannot be found in big cities.
I am happy to answer any questions about things Japanese.
I look forward to meeting you in person soon!!
