    What Is a Private Walking Tour of Ueno and Yanaka in Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report I guided a group visiting from North America. They did not show much interest in the first stop at Ameyoko, but they were delighted by the temples, parks, shrines, and plants. They visited a dahlia exhibition at Ueno Toshogu Shrine. One of the guests walked energetically until the end, though sitting down and going down stairs seemed a little difficult at times. Since they wished to take an unscheduled break along the way, we stopped at a cafe where they enjoyed sandwiches and coffee, and as it was a pleasant cafe, they were very satisfied. Because of the break, the tour ended slightly later than planned. They were pleased to see the daily life of local people in Yanaka. Their expressions had been somewhat reserved when we first met, but by the end they had softened into warm smiles, which was a relief. I explained how to get back to their accommodation, and the tour concluded.

    Can You Do a Private Cruise Port Day Tour from Kobe? A Licensed Guide's Report Today's guests were two people from North America. We met at the Kobe Port Terminal and visited Kobe Nunobiki Herb Garden and the Kitano Ijinkan (former foreign residences) area. Even though it was a weekday following a three-day holiday, there was a long queue at the base station of the Nunobiki Herb Garden ropeway, and we had to wait a while to board. This often happens on days when large cruise ships call at port. The guests mentioned that they also grow flowers and trees at home, so they took their time going through the Herb Garden while taking photos. After the Herb Garden, we walked from the base station to the Kitano Ijinkan area. After Kitano, we had planned to go to Kobe Harborland, but on the way to Sannomiya Station the guests said, "We're tired, so we'd like to return to the Port Terminal by taxi." We therefore returned to the Port Terminal by taxi and ended the tour. As a guide, I felt it was left a little unfinished, but since the guests said the tour was good, I ended the day feeling that it was fine after all.

    What's a Full-Day Private Tokyo Tour Like for First-Time Visitors? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors to Japan planning to stay in Tokyo before traveling on to Takayama. Since they felt uneasy about getting around Tokyo by train, I explained everything from how to purchase a PASMO card to detailed instructions on how to use the trains. As they preferred a vegetarian diet, they enjoyed grilled egg skewers at Tsukiji, and for lunch they had soba with mountain vegetables. Since one of the guests was interested in samurai culture, I explained in detail the connections between Senso-ji Temple and the samurai, as well as the ties between Hamarikyu and the shogunate family. At their request, we used the water bus, which was perfect for a little rest, but there was not enough time left to visit our fourth destination, Meiji Shrine. Overall, I believe the guests were very satisfied.

    Can You Do a Private Day Trip in Kyoto Visiting Fushimi Inari, Tofuku-ji, and Gion? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. As one of the guests had difficulty walking, we found places to rest and take breaks along the way. We first went to Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine. At the purification fountain, I explained how to cleanse the hands and mouth before praying. I then guided them to the main hall and shared the proper etiquette of two bows, two claps, stating a wish, and one final bow. After passing through the Senbon Torii, we reached the "Okunoin." To the right and beyond it is a stone called the "Omokaru-ishi." First, you make a wish in front of the lantern. Then you lift the round stone placed on top of the lantern. If the stone feels lighter than you expected, your wish is said to come true. The guests were very interested in this and enthusiastically gave it a try. Next, we went to Tofuku-ji, one of the Five Great Zen Temples of Kyoto. The "Sanmon" gate stands at the southernmost part of the grounds. The current gate was rebuilt around 1405 and is the oldest and largest Sanmon of any Zen temple in Japan. The guests were impressed by its grandeur, and at the end were moved by the view overlooking the Tsutenkyo Bridge. Finally, we went to Gion. We passed by the Minamiza Theater and Hanamikoji Street, and finished at the Yasaka Pagoda. Luckily, we came across a maiko and had our photo taken.

    What Is a 4-Hour Private Miyajima Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan from North America. They requested a full four-hour guided tour of Miyajima, so we arranged to meet at the ferry terminal. Since it was low tide in the morning, we first walked out to the Great Torii Gate, where the guests took many photos with the torii. They were very impressed with Daishoin Temple and told me that everyone should come to this temple. They purchased many omamori charms as souvenirs. Everyone loved taking photos, and at Itsukushima Shrine as well they each took a great many pictures. All of the guests enjoyed oysters, so I ended the tour by taking them to an oyster restaurant. Since they planned to take the ropeway up Mount Misen after the tour, I shared information about the ropeway, which they greatly appreciated. At the end we said goodbye with handshakes and hugs.

    Title: What Can You See on a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report on Tsukiji, Tokyo Tower, and Shibuya The guests were a group visiting Japan for the first time from North America. They had lived in North America for many years before this trip. On this occasion they were staying in Tokyo for a short time before continuing to Asia to visit relatives. The previous evening they had strolled through Ginza and had dinner at a sushi restaurant, but they felt the taste and price were both underwhelming. Today, their wish was to see the main sights of Tokyo while learning how to use the subway. It was a rather humid day under cloudy skies. First, we headed to Tsukiji. Even though it was a market holiday, it was extremely crowded with tourists. I explained the history of Tokyo's fish market since the Edo period, and the difference between Toyosu Market and the Tsukiji Outer Market. The guests asked whether all Tokyo residents come here to buy fish, and commented that although it was crowded, it seemed there were many tourists. We bought and sampled octopus crackers and matcha ice cream. Next, we moved to Tokyo Tower. This too was packed with many visitors. We went up to the main deck and walked all the way around. I explained the history of Tokyo Tower and the history of Edo and Tokyo. The guests commented that they now understood what a vast city Tokyo is, and that there were so many buildings throughout the city, including many under construction. We then moved to Shinjuku Gyoen. The guests said they love Japanese gardens, and that they had planted cherry trees in their own garden but had trouble getting them to bloom beautifully. We strolled slowly through the grounds. They remarked that Japanese gardens really are wonderful, and that the pine trees in particular were splendid. After that, we moved to Harajuku. I explained about Shinto, torii gates, Emperor Meiji, why sake barrels are displayed, and why wine barrels are also displayed. The guests asked what kind of religion Shinto is, noting that it was completely different from Sensoji Temple, and asked how Buddhism and Shinto differ. After a break at the café terrace at Meiji Jingu, we also strolled along Takeshita Street. From there, we moved to Shibuya. We actually crossed the Scramble Square. The guests asked why so many people gather here and why it became so famous. We also took photos in front of the Hachiko statue. The guests said they wanted to try sushi once more, so we went to a sushi restaurant in Tsukiji. They said it was far better than the sushi the day before, and that although there are sushi restaurants in North America, the ones where you can eat with confidence are very expensive. The guests also commented that Japanese people are all quiet and polite, that they saw no homeless people in the city, and that the streets were clean with no litter, and asked why there were no trash cans on the streets. I saw them off at Ginza Station, and we parted ways.

    As a recent group travel record, in October 2023, we have a track record of guiding a group of 33 people from Singapore to Narita Airport transfer plus sightseeing in Tokyo.
    Self-introduction:
    In the past, I was stationed in Canada, the United States, and Mexico as an expatriate of a Japanese bank for over 11 years.
    Since I have been mainly involved in the financing business in the United States for a long time, I think I am able to provide interpretation and translation services related to business and finance.
    I am a certified CPA in the United States.
    In addition, for three years from April 2016, I will be engaged in Japanese-English translation work (part-time), and I can also handle translation work.
    Although I don’t have a qualification in Spanish, but I think I can handle day to day conversation in Spanish without any problems.
    My hobby is trekking and from time to time, take a walk around mountains near Tokyo like Mt. Takao, Tanzawa, etc. I think it is possible to provide tourist information here as well.
    Since April 2015, I have been working as a Tokyo Metropolitan Tourism Volunteer and Tokyo Metropolitan Disaster Prevention Volunteer.
    One more, I have a separate house near Asuka Village, Nara prefecture, and I stay there for a total of about 30 days every year and have been enjoying sightseeing personally in the vicinity. Therefore, I think in the Kansai region, especially in Nara, Asuka, Yoshino, Koyasan, Kumano Kodo, etc., where I think I will be able to tour guide with confidence.

    Title: What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests mentioned that the wall paintings and Japanese garden at Nijo Castle were beautiful. As they seemed to have an interest in art, they also visited the exhibition hall where the wall paintings are stored. They seemed to like the calm atmosphere of Nanzenji Temple. When I mentioned there was another beautiful garden, they also visited Tenjuan, and they seemed to enjoy this garden as well. They eagerly took many photos of the koi carp. Since I had been told in advance that this was a special trip, I gave them a small present, which delighted them greatly. As I had heard that the guests both like katsu, we enjoyed a katsu lunch together, and they said it was delicious. They seemed to like the view from Kiyomizu-dera Temple. At Yasaka Shrine, I explained the proper way to worship at a shrine, and they offered their prayers. After visiting Yasaka Shrine, as it was already past 15:00, I told them the tour would end here and asked what they would like to do next. They said they wanted to drink matcha, so I took them to a specialty tea shop, where we said goodbye.

    My name is Hiroki Muramoto, please call me Hiro.
    Hiro in Japanese means large or big. Although I’m neither large nor big, you can call me Hiro. How are you doing ?
    I lived in a city nearby Kobe city. Do you know Kobe ? Kobe is famous for Kobe beef and pearl. If you have not yet had Kobe beef, you should taste the authentic Kobe beef. It is very satisfying taste. But I have recently moved to a city in Kyoto prefecture, so I can be in Kyoto city in about one hour. By the way, I am a family of four. I have a son and a daughter. My son now works in Tokyo. I sometimes go to Tokyo to see him. Tokyo is a huge city, but too crowded, so it seems not to suit me. I seem to be better suited to a small city than a big one. Where do you live in ? How many families do you have ? If you like, please tell me about them. I worked in the quality assurance department of a pharmaceutical company and visited the factories of foreign affiliated companies, so I became interested in foreign cultures and obtained a qualification as an interpreter guide in 2015.

    I have been a guide for about eight years. During that time, I have guided in Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe, Nara, Kochi and so on, although I could do little guiding work between 2020 and 2022 due to COVID-19. However, since last year, my guiding work has been back! So, I am happy to be able to meet different people again. My hobby is travelling, but sadly, I am not in a position to travel abroad easily at the moment due to the very weak yen, and I hope to travel abroad again when the situation eases a bit more.
    How many countries have you been to so far ? Which countries have you liked so far? Another hobby is watching sports – baseball and football. Do you like the baseball ? Do you know Otani, Japanese baseball player ? He has joined Dodgers in Los Angeles this year. I look forward to another successful year for Otani.

    By the way, what interests you in Japan? Food, history, scenery ? As far as tourist attractions are concerned, famous places are too crowded. If you like, I also would like to show you some less crowded places. Are you interested in experiencing something ? If you want to experience something, I can suggest an experience plan for you. If so, please contact me as early as possible. As for food, what kind of food do you like? There are many kinds of delicious food. Of course, you can get good food in fine restaurants, but you can also get good food in downtown restaurants. If you like alcohol, why don’t you try Japanese sake? It can range from light and fragrant to rich in flavor, so you’re sure to find a Japanese sake you like.

    My motto is “Be content with life.” However, I find myself complaining all the time. If you like, please tell me your motto. I want to treat all guests who visit Japan with the spirit of “Treasure every encounter” and guide them so that they can enjoy themselves and have good memories of Japan.

    Title: What Can You See on a 4-Hour Private Afternoon Tour of Osaka? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Europe, touring Japan. Regarding the destinations and itinerary, during our prior consultation they said, "We don't know much about Osaka, so we'd like to leave it to you, our guide." Since this was a short 4-hour course taking place from the afternoon into the evening, I ultimately proposed a plan of "Osaka Castle → Dotonbori → Shinsekai," and the guests agreed. On the day, we met at the Hotel that towers over Nankai Electric Railway's Namba Station, the gateway to Osaka's Minami area. After introducing myself and briefly confirming the itinerary, we set off on the tour right away. As it was a short 4-hour tour, we used the subway for all transportation, avoiding aboveground transit that could be affected by traffic congestion. At Osaka Castle, we climbed up to the main keep and, while looking out in all directions, I explained Osaka's geographical position, the history of Japan's unification under samurai rule, and the course of its development as a commercial city, helping the guests understand the basic characteristics of Osaka. In Dotonbori and Shinsekai, I touched on Osaka as a city of commerce and food culture, as well as the warmth and disposition of the ordinary people of Osaka, deepening their understanding. However, since the guests had dinner scheduled at their hotel in the evening, it was a shame that they could not try Osaka's local foods such as takoyaki and okonomiyaki. Although it was a short time, it was a pleasure to guide them.
