What's a Private Day Tour of Miyajima and Hiroshima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. As they preferred not to walk too much, a vehicle was arranged. We first visited Miyajima, where the guests asked many questions about the Great Torii Gate and Itsukushima Shrine. For lunch on Miyajima, they enjoyed dishes such as oysters and conger eel rice. Since some of the guests avoided certain foods, I arranged oyster rice balls and salmon rice balls to accommodate them. At the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, they listened earnestly to the tragic history of the atomic bombing. At the end, they told me it had been a very enjoyable day. A notable stop on the tour was the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park. The park was created to commemorate the victims of the 1945 atomic bombing of Hiroshima and stands as a symbol of the city's hope for lasting peace. It is home to the Atomic Bomb Dome, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as the Peace Memorial Museum, which preserves the memory of the event and conveys its lessons to visitors from around the world. The park draws many visitors each year who come to reflect on history and pay their respects.

What Can You See on a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. It was their first time in Japan, but they were already very knowledgeable about the country, having studied Japanese history and culture in the past. For example, they were well aware of the secrets that allow a smaller sumo wrestler to defeat a larger opponent (speed and technique). I took them to Kinkaku-ji, Nijo Castle, Gion, Pontocho, and Ippodo, a specialty matcha shop. They were able to purchase matcha and looked very happy. In particular, Ippodo was a shop they had researched beforehand, so being able to take them there delighted them greatly. For lunch, we had a Japanese shokado bento that had been reserved in advance, so there was no waiting time, and the meal actually finished quickly. They seemed to really enjoy both Kinkaku-ji and Nijo Castle. A notable stop on the tour was Kinkaku-ji. Kinkaku-ji, also known as the Golden Pavilion, is one of Kyoto's most famous Zen temples, with its top two floors completely covered in gold leaf. Originally built as a retirement villa for a shogun in the late 14th century, it was later converted into a temple and is set beside a tranquil reflecting pond that mirrors the pavilion beautifully across the seasons.

Title: What Is a Private Hiroshima Peace Tour Like When the Museum Is Crowded? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests visited Japan from Oceania. The day was a little warm, but it was sunny and well suited for sightseeing. Before coming to Hiroshima, the guests had visited Tokyo and Kyoto, where they had experienced a lot of poor weather, so the clear skies were a welcome change. On the other hand, from late September the number of school excursion students increased sharply. Although we were able to enter the museum, there was a very long line to get into the main building. According to the staff, it would take 30 to 40 minutes to get in, and the interior was so crowded that it was difficult to move around. Therefore, in the east building, I explained the circumstances that led to the atomic bombing, the threat of the atomic bomb, and the reconstruction of Hiroshima. We decided not to enter the main building, and instead I took the guests to Honkawa Elementary School, where they viewed the devastation caused by the atomic bombing. The guests seemed disappointed about not being able to enter the main building, but overall I believe they were satisfied with the tour. A notable stop on the tour was the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. Located within the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, the museum documents the atomic bombing of August 6, 1945, and conveys the realities of nuclear weapons through exhibits, photographs, and personal belongings of the victims. The surrounding park is home to the Atomic Bomb Dome, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and serves as a global symbol of the hope for lasting peace and the abolition of nuclear weapons.

After graduating from university and completing graduate school, I moved to Hiroshima in 1984. Hiroshima has been my home base for more than 42 years, including approximately five and a half years during which I was posted to Germany and the United States. I worked as an engineer at Mazda Motor Corporation for 40 years. While working at Mazda, I earned a Ph.D. in Engineering through a doctoral program designed for working professionals at a national university. During the final five years of my career at Mazda, I was assigned to Hiroshima University, where I served as a Specially Appointed Professor and Deputy Director of a research center. Living in Nagasaki, Hiroshima, Germany, and the United States has deepened my appreciation for the distinct histories and cultures of different regions and broadened my international perspective. What Is a Private One-Day Hakone Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Europe. One of the guests was on their third visit to Japan, while it was the first visit for the other. They had arrived at Narita Airport on a direct flight a few days earlier, stayed in Tokyo for three days, and came to Hakone the previous night. Their trip to Japan was a long one, with plans to continue afterward from Odawara to Hida-Takayama, Kanazawa, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima, and Okinawa, before returning home. They mentioned, "Last night was the first time we slept on tatami and futon. We slept well and it was lovely." In Hakone, they said they had hoped to see Mount Fuji. The tour took place under cloudy skies all day, and unfortunately we were unable to see Mount Fuji. First, we walked from the hotel to the bus stop, then transferred buses to reach the Hakone Open-Air Museum. In the vehicle, I explained the history and characteristics of Hakone. I also explained the origins and current state of the Open-Air Museum, and we strolled slowly through the grounds. One of the guests was fond of Picasso, and they viewed the sculptures with great interest and took many photographs. From there, we went via Gora and Sounzan, taking the ropeway to Owakudani. I explained the geological origins of Hakone, its history as a hot spring and summer resort area, and an overview and history of Owakudani. There were questions such as, "Is Owakudani an active volcano? Has it ever erupted?" and "Is Mount Fuji also an active volcano? When did it last erupt?" They purchased and tasted the "black eggs," commenting, "The smell of sulfur is incredible." We then took the ropeway to Togendai Port and boarded the Hakone Sightseeing Cruise. I explained the history and current state of Lake Ashi. Although it was slightly chilly with a bit of light rain, we went up to the top observation deck. We arrived at Moto-Hakone Port, and upon request for lunch, we went to a bakery and restaurant. Afterward, we walked to Hakone Shrine. The guests made comments such as, "Everywhere in Japan is so clean. There is no litter," "There are no trash cans around," and "The trains are so quiet." They also mentioned, "In Tokyo we stayed in Shinjuku, but it was rather noisy for us." I saw them off at the bus stop nearest to the hotel, where we parted ways. A notable stop on the tour was Hakone Shrine. Hakone Shrine is a historic Shinto shrine located at the base of Mount Hakone on the shores of Lake Ashi, and it is especially famous for its "Peace Torii" gate standing in the water. Founded in the 8th century, the shrine has long been revered by travelers and worshippers, and its forested approach lined with towering cedar trees creates a serene and atmospheric setting.

Title: What's a Private Kyoto Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Gion and Fushimi Inari The guests came from Oceania. The travel agency had reserved a kimono rental shop for 12:00. I thought they would change into the kimono and continue the tour that way, but they said they only wanted to take photos. Since they had gone to the trouble of wearing kimono, and since I always carry a camera and Gion was nearby, we spent some time doing a kimono photo session there. We skipped Nishiki Market, which had originally been planned, and instead went to Fushimi Inari, which one of the guests had wanted to visit. We climbed up to Kumataka-sha, and finally enjoyed some ice cream before parting ways. A notable stop on the tour was Fushimi Inari Shrine. Fushimi Inari Taisha is one of Kyoto's most famous shrines, dedicated to Inari, the deity of rice and prosperity. It is best known for its thousands of vermilion torii gates that form winding paths up the sacred Mount Inari. Visitors can walk through these tunnels of gates, each one donated by individuals or businesses, as they ascend the mountain, passing smaller shrines such as Kumataka-sha along the way.

What's a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Nanzen-ji, Nijo Castle, and Fushimi Inari I guided a group visiting from Oceania. It had been raining until the day before, but on the day of the tour the sky cleared, the air turned cool, and it was perfect weather for sightseeing. Nanzen-ji Temple, which we visited first thing in the morning, had very few people, and the guests were deeply moved by the beauty of the green maple leaves and the main gate. At the Hojo, they enjoyed some quiet seated meditation in front of the dry landscape garden. Next we visited Nijo Castle, where they marveled at the beautiful gold wall paintings and the fine craftsmanship of the nail covers. After a light lunch while chatting at a cafe in front of Nijo Castle, we moved on to Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine. One of the guests was fond of animals and happily looked at the fox and guardian lion-dog statues. After touring Fushimi Inari Taisha, about an hour remained, so I asked whether they would like to visit another temple, but they said, "We have enjoyed ourselves plenty, so we will return to the hotel." For that reason, I saw off their taxi in front of Fushimi Inari Taisha and ended the tour.

Can You Do a Private Rainy-Day Tour of Hakone? A Licensed Guide's Report on Owakudani, Lake Ashi, and the Open-Air Museum The guests were a group visiting Japan from North America. One of the guests had been to Japan several times before in connection with work, while it was a first visit for the other. This visit was part of a two-week trip to Japan. The group arrived at Narita Airport a few days earlier. After sightseeing in the city, they traveled by Shinkansen the previous evening via Odawara Station to reach Hakone. Tomorrow they plan to head from Odawara Station to Kyoto, where they will stay for four days while also visiting Nara, Hiroshima, and Osaka. After that, they plan to return home from Kansai Airport. "Last night was the first time I slept on tatami and a futon. It was relaxing and I slept well," they said. They also mentioned, "In Hakone, I wanted to see Mount Fuji." The tour took place in rainy weather throughout the day, and unfortunately we were not able to see Mount Fuji. First, we took a shuttle bus from the Hotel to Sounzan Station. From there, we took the ropeway to Owakudani. I explained "the formation of Hakone," "its history as a hot spring and summer retreat," and "an overview and history of Owakudani." There were questions such as "Is Owakudani an active volcano? Has it ever erupted?" and "Is Mount Fuji also an active volcano? When did it last erupt?" We bought and tasted the famous "black eggs." "The smell of sulfur is amazing," they commented. Next, we took the ropeway to Togendai Port and boarded the Hakone sightseeing cruise. I explained "the history and current state of Lake Ashi." It was a bit chilly with light rain falling, but we went up to the top observation deck. We arrived at Motohakone Port. At the group's request for lunch, we went to a bakery and restaurant. After that, we walked to Hakone Shrine. The group also said, "We would like to see the Open-Air Museum," so we transferred by bus and the Hakone Tozan Railway to get there. I explained "the origins and current state of the Open-Air Museum." One of the guests said they loved Picasso, and viewed the sculptures enthusiastically and took many photographs. They also commented, "Everywhere in Japan the streets are so clean. There is no litter," "There are no trash cans around," and "The trains are so quiet." They added, "In Tokyo we stayed in Akasaka, but it was rather noisy." I saw the group off at Gora Station, where the tour ended. A notable stop on the tour was the Hakone Open-Air Museum. Opened in 1969, it was Japan's first open-air art museum, set against the natural scenery of the Hakone mountains. The museum displays a wide collection of modern and contemporary sculptures throughout its spacious grounds, and also houses a dedicated gallery featuring works by Pablo Picasso, making it a popular destination for art lovers visiting Hakone.

In the past, I was stationed in Canada, the United States, and Mexico as an expatriate of a Japanese bank for over 11 years.
Since I have been mainly involved in the financing business in the United States for a long time, I think I am able to provide interpretation and translation services related to business and finance.
I am a certified CPA in the United States.
In addition, for three years from April 2016, I will be engaged in Japanese-English translation work (part-time), and I can also handle translation work.
Although I don’t have a qualification in Spanish, but I think I can handle day to day conversation in Spanish without any problems.
My hobby is trekking and from time to time, take a walk around mountains near Tokyo like Mt. Takao, Tanzawa, etc. I think it is possible to provide tourist information here as well.
Since April 2015, I have been working as a Tokyo Metropolitan Tourism Volunteer and Tokyo Metropolitan Disaster Prevention Volunteer.
One more, I have a separate house near Asuka Village, Nara prefecture, and I stay there for a total of about 30 days every year and have been enjoying sightseeing personally in the vicinity. Therefore, I think in the Kansai region, especially in Nara, Asuka, Yoshino, Koyasan, Kumano Kodo, etc., where I think I will be able to tour guide with confidence.

Title: What's a Private Day Tour of Osaka and Sakai Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group from South America. In consideration of guests who had visited Osaka many times before, the original plan centered on Sakai City, which is adjacent to Osaka City, with minimal stairs and walking. However, due to bad weather on the day and a request from one of the guests, we first took the subway to the station nearest Osaka Castle, after which we chartered a taxi. In the rain, we took commemorative photos at Osaka Castle, then visited Shitennoji Temple, Shinsekai, had an udon lunch at Harukas, and toured a wide area including the Sakai Traditional Crafts Museum, the site of Sen no Rikyu's former residence, Namba Yasaka Shrine, and Dotonbori. Since the guests could also speak Japanese, they exchanged jokes with the driver during the drives, and it became a time full of smiles from beginning to end. Although their parents were from Hokkaido, the guests said Osaka was their favorite, and it turned into an enjoyable tour that met their expectations. A notable stop on the tour was Osaka Castle. Osaka Castle is one of Japan's most famous landmarks, originally built in the late 16th century by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, one of the great unifiers of Japan. The castle's main tower stands out with its striking green roofs and gold detailing, surrounded by stone walls and moats. Today it houses a museum with exhibits on the history of the castle and the Toyotomi era, and the surrounding park is a popular spot for enjoying cherry blossoms in spring.

What's a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like for a Solo Traveler? A Licensed Guide's Report This was a private tour for a solo traveler visiting from North America. It was their fourth visit to Japan, staying from late September to mid-October and traveling through Tokyo, Okayama, Naoshima, Kurashiki, Tottori, Osaka, and back to Tokyo. They came with a particular interest in the Monet works at the Chichu Art Museum on Naoshima. They had lived in North America in their younger years and currently reside in another part of North America. I asked about the area where they live, and they mentioned it gets a lot of snow in winter and is very windy, with only one golf course, but that in summer it is pleasant and the rivers are beautiful. They said the area has many kinds of wildlife, including bison and bears, and they were quite familiar with Japan's own issues regarding bears. We were able to talk about many different topics throughout the day, and even though it rained, it was an enjoyable tour to guide. A notable stop on the tour was the Chichu Art Museum on Naoshima. The Chichu Art Museum, designed by the architect Tadao Ando, is built largely underground to preserve the surrounding island landscape, allowing natural light to illuminate the artworks within. It is especially known for its permanent display of several of Claude Monet's Water Lilies paintings, shown in a specially designed room, making it a highlight for art lovers visiting the island of Naoshima in the Seto Inland Sea.

What Can a Family Do on a Private Day Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan for the first time from Oceania. We met successfully at teamLab Planets and set off by private car. Since the guests wanted to make the day enjoyable for the younger members of the group, what was originally planned to include major sightseeing spots became a tour fully centered on them. After taking photos at Tokyo Tower, the top priority was making sure the group did not get bored. On Takeshita Street, they happened upon a dog cafe and popped in, bought sweets, and enjoyed themselves in their own ways. For lunch, in response to a request, I guided them to a sushi restaurant. They ordered their favorite sushi, and one of the guests tried Japanese sake for the first time, and seemed to really enjoy Dassai. At the Shibuya Scramble Crossing, everyone was thrilled. They purchased clothing on Cat Street, and at a toy store in Ginza they bought toys they had been wanting. One of the guests became very fond of kendama. At the Pokemon Center in Nihonbashi they got the Pokemon cards they had long wanted, and finally we headed to Tokyo Skytree. I saw them off as they entered for the 18:00 session, ending the tour. I hope they continue to enjoy their stay in Japan. Thank you for another wonderful day. A notable stop on the tour was Tokyo Skytree. Tokyo Skytree is a broadcasting and observation tower that stands 634 meters tall, making it one of the tallest structures in the world. It offers sweeping panoramic views of the Tokyo metropolitan area from its observation decks, and on clear days visitors can even see Mount Fuji in the distance. The tower complex also includes shopping and dining facilities, making it a popular destination for both international visitors and local residents.
