Title: What's a Private Day Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Japanese Gardens, Tsukiji, and Fukagawa Body: The guests were visitors from Europe who were staying in Tokyo for several days after finishing a cruise ship tour. They requested to visit a Japanese garden and a fish market, and asked to avoid tourist spots that were overcrowded, so I planned a route that matched their wishes. Since they wanted to have sushi for lunch, I timed our visit to the Tsukiji Outer Market and took them to a sushi restaurant. They commented that it was the most delicious sushi they had ever eaten and were very pleased. As we had a little time to spare, I took them to Tomioka Hachimangu Shrine and Fukagawa Fudo in Monzen-nakacho, then accompanied them to the Marunouchi Line entrance at Otemachi to end the tour. The weather was wonderful, and they told me it had been a splendid day.

Hi, I am Nobu, a National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter (English).
I have been an English guide in Tokyo area since January 2017.
Tokyo is a wonderful city, and you may enjoy this city by yourselves.
Even so, I recommend you go around with a guide, especially if it is your first time visit to Tokyo.
A good guide will help you to understand about Tokyo and Japan as well as how to use convenient but complicated public transportations more effectively.
I am glad if I can help you to make your tour more enjoyable.
I am looking forward to meeting you in Tokyo soon!

Title: What Is a Private Walking Tour of West Tokyo (Harajuku, Shibuya, Shinjuku) Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were friends visiting from Europe. They had arrived on the morning of the tour and seemed a little tired, but they were able to check in during the morning and get some sleep. In our first exchange, the guests said they were not very interested in famous tourist attractions, but they did not specify where they wanted to go, so we started the tour without a fixed plan. After meeting the guests, we discussed options together and decided to visit Harajuku, Shibuya, and Shinjuku. They also showed interest in an unstaffed convenience store at Takanawa Gateway, but since it was a bit far from the other locations, they decided to visit it on their own. On the way to the hotel in the morning, the guests contacted me to say they wanted to eat something before starting the tour, so we first had lunch at a ramen restaurant in Akasaka near the hotel and I gave a brief introduction to the surrounding area. While the guests were eating, we decided on the schedule for the day. I asked whether, if they preferred places that are not typical tourist spots, they might enjoy a residential neighborhood or an autumn foliage spot, but they did not show much interest. Since they said they wanted to go to Shibuya and Shinjuku, it ended up being a standard tour of the west side of Tokyo. When there is no specific destination decided in advance, I felt it is important to discuss things thoroughly with the guests. They were very pleasant, and I believe they were satisfied.

Himeji Castle & Koko-en in 1 Day Tour

    Tour Itinerary

    • 1. 10:00 Meet @ Himeji Station Central Ticket Gate
    • 2. 10:20 @ Himeji Castle

    • 5. 16:00 Disband @ Himeji Station Shinkansen Ticket Gate

What Can You See on a 6-Hour Private Himeji Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report Today's guests were a group of seven visiting from North America, including two elementary-school-aged children. Since this was a tour with a vehicle, getting around was easy. Today we met at Himeji Station and visited Himeji Castle, the Nadagiku Sake Brewery (for lunch), and Engyoji Temple on Mount Shosha. This course was decided at the guests' request, but it is a slightly tight itinerary to cover in six hours. However, since the guests had tickets for a Shinkansen to board after the tour, I explained that we needed to keep a good pace as we went. At the Nadagiku Sake Brewery after Himeji Castle, we went straight to lunch without a detailed explanation of the sake-making process, but the guests happily enjoyed the original cotton-candy beef hot pot and a junmai ginjo sake that can only be tasted at the brewery. The tour of Engyoji Temple on Mount Shosha was also a quick one, but the autumn foliage was beautiful (which is why there were many tourists), and the guests greatly enjoyed the tour.

    • 15:05 Disband at Shibuya Scramble Crossing

Title: What's a Full-Day Private Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, the Imperial Palace, and Shibuya It was a slightly cold day with occasional rain. When we arrived in Asakusa it began to rain, so I helped the guests buy a plastic umbrella. In Asakusa they enjoyed drawing omikuji fortunes and other activities. They had mentioned wanting ramen for lunch, and since they specifically preferred a local ramen shop, I guided them to one. It was well received. The guests were interested in castles, so I guided them from the Otemon Gate to the Nijubashi Bridge and on to Tokyo Station. The tour was scheduled to end in Shibuya, but as there was a little time to spare, I guided them through the food floor of Shibuya Hikarie. They were fond of the large and beautiful fruits, sweets, and breads on display. I then guided them to the Scramble Crossing, where the tour ended. I received a tip.

What Does a Private Full-Day Tokyo Walking Tour Include? A Licensed Guide's Report The weather was clear and the tour proceeded smoothly. After the guests purchased a Tokyo Metro 24-hour pass in Ikebukuro, we set off. At the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, I talked extensively about Edo Castle and the Imperial Family. The guests took many photos in the gardens, and we talked a lot about gardening. At Meiji Shrine, I discussed the Meiji era and the relationship between the two nations, including the Anglo-Japanese Alliance. I also explained Shinto, as well as Omiyamairi and Shichi-Go-San (there happened to be worshippers for both). The request to see the Shibuya Scramble Crossing came about because a friend had talked about it, but the guests were surprised by the crowds at Shibuya Station. I saw them off in front of their hotel and the tour ended. I received a tip.

    • 13:00 Tour ends after visiting Nijo Castle. After the tour ends, we accompanied you to the reserved restaurant (Hanasaki; Nishiki branch).

What Does a Private Early-Morning Kyoto Tour Cover? A Licensed Guide's Report on Kiyomizu-dera, Fushimi Inari, and Nijo Castle The guests were visitors from North America, and this was their first trip to Japan. They had planned a trip to Japan five years earlier, but it was canceled due to COVID, so this time they were finally able to realize their first visit to Japan. I took the guests to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Sanjusangendo, Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine, and Nijo Castle. It was an early-morning tour starting at 7:00, and at Kiyomizu-dera there were not yet many crowds, so we were able to proceed smoothly. It was perfect weather for a tour, but at the final stop, Nijo Castle, we were caught in the rain. Fortunately, I had brought an umbrella, so I was able to lend it to one of the guests. Some of the guests said Nijo Castle was their favorite, while others said Sanjusangendo was the best. The guests also requested a recommendation for a Japanese restaurant after the tour, so I made a reservation in advance at a restaurant and took them there after the tour.

Based on a recommendation from an acquaintance, they had made a reservation a year in advance at a traditional Japanese restaurant and inn in the Gion district. At the Arashiyama Monkey Park, there were many baby monkeys, and the group very much enjoyed feeding them. Afterward, we had lunch at a tonkatsu restaurant near Kinkaku-ji, which the group seemed to enjoy. We then headed to Kinkaku-ji, which was not very crowded, and the reflection of the Golden Pavilion in the pond was astonishingly beautiful. To save time, we took a taxi to Nijo Castle, which was also not very crowded, allowing us to take our time and look around. I believe the guests enjoyed the day.

Title: Can You Take a Private Kanazawa Tour Including Kenrokuen and Gold Leaf Workshops? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan from Oceania for the third time. I heard that they enjoy steam locomotives, and on this trip they visited places such as Chichibu in Saitama Prefecture. As they make brass railway models as a hobby, they were very interested in observing the final production process of gold leaf at a gold leaf workshop. Although it rained at times, we were fortunate that the rain stopped when we visited Kenrokuen Garden, allowing us to enjoy the tour. Since they mentioned that a light snack would be enough for lunch, we kept it simple by having them choose sandwiches they liked at an underground shopping arcade. As they are fond of cheese, they purchased many varieties of cheese for a late-night snack at their accommodation.

What Is a Private Day Trip from Osaka to Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Europe, staying in Osaka and taking a day trip to Kyoto. We met without any trouble and headed to Fushimi Inari. As expected, both Fushimi Inari and Kiyomizu-dera were bustling with many tourists, but the guests were able to fully enjoy the beautiful autumn foliage. There were many people wearing kimono, and I was asked several times whether they were geisha. Unfortunately, we did not encounter any geisha in Gion, but the guests listened attentively to my explanation about geisha. They were captivated by the quiet atmosphere of the back streets of Gion and took many photographs. Since we had time, I took them to Nishiki Market. They were interested in the small bonsai, but decided against buying one due to the risk of bringing plants across borders. I saw them off at the subway station, and we said our goodbyes.

What Is a Private Osaka Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guest was traveling solo from North America, and the tour went smoothly throughout. The itinerary was originally planned to start at Osaka Castle, but since the guest's accommodation was within walking distance of Osaka Castle, we changed the plan on the day and made Osaka Castle the final stop. It was not clear what specific interests the guest had, but they listened attentively to the guide's explanations. Today's guest seemed more interested in Japanese culture and customs than in individual spots, and asked many related questions. The guest also gave detailed and entertaining answers to the guide's questions, which was very interesting and highly meaningful.

    Dear my guests,

This is (Mr.) Yama, greeting from Kobe, Japan.
I would like to warmly welcome you to Japan this time. I am from the city of Kobe, which is of course, well-known for very tasty Kobe Beef . You can taste
real genuine Kobe Beef here. Kobe is also called “Home of Japanese Sake” with lots of Sake breweries, and I recommend you would visit those breweries
if you have any interest in Japanese Sake as well as one aspect of Japanese cultures. Of course, you can have tastings of various kinds of Sake there.

Whenever during the tour, I always try to make it safe, pleasant and comfortable for all of the guests, which is my first priority. I am very much confident
that you can have a pleasant and unforgettable experience in Japan. Just tell me about your preference; what you would like to like to see, have, know
and eat and so on. Particularly, I hold the license for cooking qualified by the government here and maybe, I can reply you for questions related to the
foods here. In this respect, I strongly recommend you would try not only famous Japanese cuisine such as Sushi, Tempura or Suki-yaki but some
Japanese traditional local foods, like Tako-yaki, Okonomi-yaki and Kushkatsu. They are sometimes called the soul foods of Japan. Here is the brief
    explanation for these three foods.

    1) Tako-yaki
Tako-yaki is a snack filled with pieces of octopus in a batter of flour , egg and soup stock. You can call them octopus dumplings or balls. “Tako” means
octopus and “yaki” means grilled or broiled.
    2) Okonomi-yaki
This word Okonomi-yaki means “cook just as you like” and you can use whatever you like as toppings, such as beef, pork, shrimp, squid and octopus.
Okonomi-yaki is round shape and just like pancakes or pizza in shape mainly made from egg, flour and water.
    3) Kushi-katsu
Kushi-katsu is skewered cutlet or deep-fried foods on a stick. “Kushi” means skewer and “katsu” means cutlet. Various kinds of foods are used for
ingredients such as beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, squid, octopus and lots of kinds of vegetables.

Actually, the western Japan including Osaka, Kobe and Himeji is called as “Home of such local soul foods”. You should give it a try and I am sure
that you like them very much.

I sincerely hope that I can be your tour guide this time in Kobe, Osaka and Himeji. If my guests said to me after the tour, “I have had a very good
and pleasant time with you today. I hope I can come here again and name you as our guide”, which is my great pleasure. Moreover, I would be
great honored if they say “I like Japan now thanks to you”.

Looking forward to meeting you soon here.
    Doomo Arigato Gozaimasu!
