The guests were a group visiting from Europe, arriving in Japan for the first time as the final destination of a cruise. Their itinerary had taken them through Asia, including Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Korea, before reaching the Port of Osaka (from which they also visited Kyoto) and finally the Port of Tokyo, after which they were scheduled to return home two days later. The members of the group all lived near one another back home.

At Meiji Shrine, some of the guests happened to run into a relative who was traveling in Japan for two months, and there was a joyful surprise as they took commemorative photos together.

Of the six participants on this tour, three used walking canes, and one relied on canes in both hands, using a step to board and alight from the vehicle, walking at nearly one-fifth of the usual pace. At pedestrian crossings, we could not cross in one go, so wherever there was a central island, we paused there to rest. The group was warm and considerate toward one another throughout the tour. At the same time, some of the guests were eager to see as much as possible, so at certain locations we split into two smaller groups.

After paying respects at the main hall of Meiji Shrine, while I guided the more active guests to the sake barrels and the second torii gate, the others headed ahead to the parking area and browsed for souvenirs at the shop there. At Senso-ji, while the group with limited mobility took a coffee break at the Starbucks near Kaminarimon Gate, I guided the two more active guests to see the main hall and the five-story pagoda.

For lunch, I recommended Aoi Marushin near Kaminarimon in Asakusa, as a place where the group could all sit together and avoid using stairs. Everyone ordered the premium tempura set, and even the eldest guest ate heartily.

From the vehicle, the guests were able to see various sights including the Shibuya Scramble Crossing. Meanwhile, some of the guests gathered information for the remaining two days they would spend in Tokyo. Based on their interests, I answered questions about a sushi restaurant, Shinjuku Gyoen for cherry blossom viewing, and a visit to Mishima to see Mount Fuji combined with a shinkansen experience.
