A Licensed Guide's Report on the Imperial Palace and Omotesando The guests were visiting Japan for the first time, and they enjoyed all of the spots that had been planned. Because slower walking was requested, taxis were used frequently for getting around. Thanks to this, the Imperial Palace was also added to the itinerary. The challenge came after the scheduled tour had ended. Given the circumstances, the guests did not seem confident about returning to their accommodation on their own, so I provided support until I could confirm that they would be able to get back safely. However, in the Omotesando area in the evening, no taxis could be found at all, so we gave up and took the subway to a taxi stand in Shibuya. Traveling on the crowded subway was likely a demanding time for the guests.

    Title: What's a Private Cherry Blossom Tour of Tokyo Like on a Rainy Day? A Licensed Guide's Report It rained all day, but it was not too heavy, so we completed the full itinerary. At Shinjuku Gyoen, there were many kinds of cherry blossoms in full bloom (the guest also pointed the camera at the deep red plum blossoms and camellias), and they were very moved. It was a solo trip, and it was memorable to see the guest sending videos of the cherry blossoms to a family member back home. We searched online for a restaurant and even went to check it out in advance, but it was closed, so in the end we had kitsune udon, which was a bit of a shame. Everything went according to schedule without any problems, which was great.

    What Is a Private Tokyo Family Tour with a Licensed Guide Like? A Guide's Report After being assigned to this tour, I confirmed the guests' interests, places they wanted to visit, and the shops they hoped to see through many detailed exchanges beforehand, carefully building a plan in advance. I put even more effort into the preparation than into the tour day itself. Thanks to this, although the weather was unfortunately rainy on the day, we were able to proceed almost exactly according to the plan. The guests were a delightful group, and they enjoyed each of the places we visited. In particular, they seemed to love the grilled Kobe beef skewers at Tsukiji. Despite the cold and rainy weather, we were able to complete the tour smoothly without any trouble.

    I am a Licensed Guide Interpreter at an age of 61.
    I got an early retirement from 36 yrs of the employment in a Japanese financial sector.

    What do I love?

    How do I spend my spare time?
    I run for 5 km in the morning listening to my favorite music.

    Title: What Is a Rainy-Day Private Walking Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Tsukiji, Hamarikyu, Ueno, and the Imperial Palace One of the guests came down to the lobby a little late, so we set off slightly behind schedule. It was raining, and at Tsukiji the guests did not eat anything but looked with great interest at the fish, vegetables, and meat. They were surprised to see fresh wasabi in its natural form. We then walked to Hamarikyu Gardens, where the guests took many photos while strolling in the rain. As the guests were a little tired, we rested at a tea house and enjoyed a set of matcha and Japanese sweets. We then walked again and had a lunch of fried chicken in the basement of a fairly old building in front of Shimbashi Station, mixing in with the office workers. Next we took the train to Ueno Park. I explained the history of Ueno Park, and since the National Museum of Western Art was closed, I explained its background from outside the wall and noted that it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After explaining the exterior of the National Museum of Nature and Science, we skipped the Tokyo National Museum since the guests had visited it the previous day. After explaining the Kuromon Gate, and since the guests were interested in the architecture of Tadao Ando, we visited and introduced the International Library of Children's Literature. They took many photos there. After introducing the University of the Arts, the Sogakudo Concert Hall, the Ueno Toshogu Shrine, and the row of cherry trees, we took the subway to Nijubashimae. We joined the Inui Street public walkthrough, where the guests took many photos along Inui Street. Finally we entered the East Gardens, where I explained the donjon base, the cherry blossoms, the Ninomaru Garden, and more, ending the tour at the Otemon Gate. We rode the Chiyoda Line together from Otemachi Station to Hibiya Station, and after telling them which exit to use, we parted ways on the train. The rain had stopped by the time we reached the Imperial Palace Outer Garden. Along the way the guests talked a great deal and asked many questions, and they seemed very satisfied.

    What Can You See on a 4-Hour Private Walking Tour from Shimbashi to Asakusa? A Licensed Guide's Report Today I guided a group visiting Japan through [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/). The guests were from Europe and North America. All of them had just arrived in Japan, and since one of them arrived very early in the morning, we took flight conditions into account and delayed the start time by three and a half hours from the original plan. We set Shimbashi Station as the meeting point and, as a 4-hour course, first walked to Hamarikyu Gardens. Inside the garden, I explained the garden culture and history of the Edo period while we toured at a relaxed pace, and the guests enjoyed the sightseeing in a calm atmosphere, taking an interest in the scenery and history of the Japanese garden. After that, we walked back to Shimbashi Station and took the Ginza subway line to Asakusa. In Asakusa, I guided them to Kaminarimon, Nakamise Street, and Sensoji Temple, and they also viewed Tokyo Skytree, the Asahi Beer headquarters building, and the cherry blossom scenery. They took photographs at various spots and showed a high level of interest overall. During the sightseeing, the guests requested a break at a coffee shop, which we accommodated, but by that time it was past 17:00, and since it was confirmed that many shops in the Kappabashi shopping street were reaching closing time, we decided to skip that area. After that, the guests planned to have dinner in Ginza and return to their hotel in Nakano, so although we were still within the contracted time, we ended the tour a little earlier than scheduled at their request. Although the guests appeared somewhat tired right after arriving in Japan, they showed a particularly strong interest in Hamarikyu Gardens and Asakusa, and overall they seemed satisfied. Throughout the tour, I was able to respond flexibly and carry out the tour smoothly.

    During my university years, I lived in a dormitory for four years and had the opportunity to live with many international students.

    After graduating from university, I started working as an English teacher at a junior high school.
    I was able to have a fun teaching life while interacting with many students. During that time, I continued to study English on my own and obtained the pre-1st grade English proficiency test.
    After that, I worked for the Board of Education as a supervisor in charge of English education, and then managed a school as a vice principal, and later principal.
    After retiring from teaching, I took the TOEIC (L&R) and achieved my highest score of 945.

    Title: What Is a Full-Day Private Tokyo Tour Like for a Group from North America? A Licensed Guide's Report It was a lively, high-energy day from start to finish. The guests were a group of eight visiting from North America. I was a little concerned because they were older, but they all walked energetically throughout the entire day. I was grateful! Their native languages differed, and English was the common language shared by everyone. Even though their native languages were different, the characteristics of their English accent were the same, with a tendency toward uniform syllable length. There are dozens of languages in this language family, and perhaps all of them are syllable-timed languages. My study list has grown. They were familiar with the theory proposed by the scholar Susumu Ohno that one of these languages is an ancestral language of Japanese (though there is a chance this was just confident bluffing). I was very moved because the guests' first names were truly magnificent: Siva (one of the supreme deities), Raja (king), Geeta (poem or song; the "Gita" of the ancient epic Bhagavad Gita), Sujatha (the village maiden who offered milk porridge to the Buddha, which led to the Buddha attaining enlightenment). Guiding guests from this background is incredibly educational. Unlike in Japan, each person clearly stated their own opinions. That actually seemed to strengthen the group's cohesion. They also made their requests to the guide clearly and without hesitation, so there was no need to read between the lines, which was a great help. When a request was unreasonable, if I firmly explained the reason it was not possible, they understood and their trust in me grew. Guiding guests from this background is incredibly educational — twice over.

    Hello! Thank you for choosing Nara! I bet you’ll love Nara. I specialize in Nara because Nara is the unique place where in one day you can cover the history and religions of Japan from the ancient times to the post war era while enjoying rambling in the UNESCO World Heritage park, having communication with lovely deer, surrounded with the beautiful nature.
    I grew up in Nara, went university in Kyoto, enjoyed teaching at high schools and a university in Osaka. The three former capitals of Japan are home to me.
    After retiring from teaching I began guiding so that I can meet various people from various corners of the world with a variety of cultures and backgrounds. Each time I guide, I find it hugely rewarding because I learn a lot from my guests sharing the history, culture and all that I know about Nara, Kyoto and Osaka.
    I used to be a marathon runner, mountain climber and skier though I am not much of them anymore.
    What I especially recommend is to stay in Nara a couple of days and enjoy communicating with friendly deer while visiting UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Nara in early morning, temples and shrines at night are well worth experiencing.

    What Can a Private Tokyo Walking Tour Cover in One Day? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Europe. In their emails beforehand, they had expressed a wish to visit as many places as possible, but when we met they asked me to include Shinjuku Gyoen in the itinerary because the weather looked likely to turn the next day. As a result, I omitted Sensoji Temple, which had originally been planned as our final stop. Changing the itinerary to include Shinjuku Gyoen turned out to be the right decision. It was a little warm that day, but it was perfect weather for walking, and the guests enjoyed the weeping cherry blossoms, which were nearly in full bloom. The timing of our lunch break ended up being slightly later than planned, but this actually allowed us to avoid the crowds and enjoy a relaxed meal. By the time we arrived at the East Gardens, only about 50 minutes remained until closing, so this part of the tour was a bit rushed. Fortunately, the guests' accommodation was close to the East Gardens, so I walked them there before we parted ways.

    I was born in Tokyo and was raised in the suburbs of Tokyo called Tama area. When I was in university, I majored in western dramas, so I am good at playing like an actor.
    I like reading, listening to the music, and walking. I belong to several walking clubs, and sometimes I guide the members around Tokyo.
    One of my strengths as a guide is that I know well about kombu, Japanese kelps. In December every year, I work at a traditional kombu shop in Tsukiji Fish Market. At that shop, I learned a lot of things related to kombu or other ingredients for washoku. I can explain the different characteristics of them to you.

    What Is a Full-Day Private Tokyo Tour Like on a Rainy Day? A Licensed Guide's Report Although it rained throughout the day, the tour proceeded in a pleasant atmosphere overall and went smoothly according to plan. There were no major issues, and I feel the tour was carried out in a seamless manner. The guests responded very positively, and communication remained smooth throughout in a friendly and approachable atmosphere. The group included a child who appeared a little tired at times along the way, but overall everyone seemed to enjoy the experience. As this was the guests' first trip to Japan, there was a strong desire to visit as many places as possible within the limited time available, and responding to that energy kept me highly motivated as a guide. On the day of the tour, before meeting, I received questions via a messaging app about Mikimoto in Ginza and the Samurai Ninja Museum in Asakusa. We stopped by Mikimoto during the tour, and I guided the guests to the Samurai Ninja Museum so they could visit it after the tour ended. I feel these flexible arrangements were well received by the guests. Overall, there were no major problems, and it turned out to be a highly satisfying tour.

    What's a Rainy-Day Private Osaka Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. Although it was an unfortunate day with rain and cold weather throughout, they found the temperature quite comfortable compared to their home and walked without umbrellas at first (one of the guests later purchased an umbrella along the way), enjoying every place we visited with a positive attitude. They showed great interest in everything and asked many questions, and were impressed that in Japan even the smallest things carry meaning. Because of the rain, we did not go out onto the rooftop of the Umeda Sky Building as originally planned, and instead limited it to riding the famous transparent escalator, while adding Namba Yasaka Shrine and KITTE, which had not been on the schedule. Since they plan to enjoy Osaka for one more day the day after next, they said with a smile that they would revisit Dotonbori and Shinsekai, which they could not fully enjoy today due to the rain, and try the 551 pork buns and okonomiyaki they missed today, and we parted ways.
