What Is a Private Day Tour of Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Fushimi Inari and Arashiyama The guests were very friendly, and even though there were surely areas where I fell short, they treated me with great generosity. Everyone listened attentively to my explanations, for which I was truly grateful. If anything, I felt they were the ones being considerate toward me, which made me almost apologetic. The weather was warm and pleasant for this time of year, and Fushimi Inari Shrine first thing in the morning was relatively uncrowded, so we were able to visit smoothly. Arashiyama in the afternoon was very busy and involved a lot of walking, but the guests showed no signs of fatigue and enjoyed themselves to the very end. Thank you for your support. I look forward to working with you again.

Also, you can taste different Japanese cuisines in each place. l will be very happy to guide families, couples, and solo travelers. I love children. Can You Do a Private Afternoon Temple Tour in Kyoto? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a family visiting Japan from North America. Some of the guests spoke a little Japanese and had an interest in Japanese animation. Their morning included a tea ceremony experience and lunch at Nishiki Market, and my tour with them was originally scheduled to begin at 14:00. However, through our prior communication, we moved it one hour earlier because the temples and shrines close early. Kinkaku-ji was extremely crowded, with a 20-minute wait to enter. Compared with a week earlier, it felt as though the number of tourists had increased with the year-end season. The guests also enjoyed matcha at Daisen-in. I learned that the long-established Japanese confectionery shop that has made the traditional sweet called senpyo, served alongside the matcha and unchanged for 40 years, will soon close because there is no successor to carry it on. Since this confectionery was so closely associated with Daisen-in, it was very sad to hear.

Title: What's a Private Family Tour of Kanazawa Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were on a family trip from Oceania, visiting Japan for the third time. They planned to stay in Kanazawa for five nights to enjoy a relaxed visit. Although a tour of Myoryuji Temple had been booked, one of the younger members of the group was not able to participate because of an age restriction, so only some of the guests joined that portion. Since one of the group had become hungry, we bought some light snacks at a nearby convenience store and spent the time in the waiting room. Afterward, we moved to the Higashi Chaya District. As the guests were interested in gold leaf, they enjoyed learning about the gold leaf production process and tried gold leaf soft-serve ice cream. Because many attractions often close during the New Year holidays, I advised the guests to visit Kenrokuen Garden and Kanazawa Castle Park on New Year's Day before ending the tour.

Title: What Is a Private Sapporo Winter Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Because the guests arrived at their hotel much later than expected, the tour started an hour and a half behind schedule. As a result, the itinerary had to be significantly changed, but I tried to guide them to as many of the originally planned locations as possible. The tour ended at Ramen Yokocho in Susukino, which the guests had wanted to visit, and we went well past the scheduled ending time of 5:00. At the start of the tour, it was quite warm for Sapporo and rainy, but in the latter half the weather turned to snow, which felt very typical of Hokkaido. It could not be called good weather, but by the time we visited Shiroi Koibito Park, I believe the guests were able to experience weather characteristic of Hokkaido.

Title: What's a Private Walking Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Yurikamome, Shinjuku, and Shibuya The guests were a group visiting from Oceania who had arrived late at night that morning due to a flight delay. They planned to stay in Tokyo for a few days before heading to Kyoto. They wanted to learn in detail about how to use SUICA and the Tokyo subway system. We started by taking the "Yurikamome" line from Toyosu to Shimbashi, where the guests enjoyed the spectacular waterfront views. After that, based on one of the guests' wish to see the Godzilla statue, we headed to the long-awaited Shinjuku Golden Gai. Along the way, I explained about Japanese vending machines, which impressed the guests greatly. They were delighted to learn that you can pay with SUICA, that warm beverages are available depending on the season, and that the prices are low with a wide variety of choices — they felt this alone was uniquely Japanese. The guests were very pleased with the taste of the "udon" they had in Shinjuku. At Meiji Shrine, there was a busy atmosphere with preparations underway for the New Year's first shrine visit. The guests were very interested in Japanese Shinto and asked many questions. I explained various things and they seemed to understand, but they wanted to learn even more deeply. At the final stop, the Shibuya Crossing, they were amazed at the enormous crowds. Since they wanted to buy various uniquely Japanese items, I introduced them to the main shops, explained the way back to their hotel, and ended the tour at this spot.

    Hello and welcome to Tokyo!

I have been working for business with American companies for many years. I have many experiences guiding customers from around the world in Japan and taking Japanese customers to the USA and Europe.

I now have a national license as a guiding interpreter, and I want to introduce the unique gigantic city of Tokyo and the traditional Japanese culture, which is not shown in the guidebooks, to people worldwide who are interested in it. In addition, I want to introduce various Japanese foods you can enjoy only in Japan.
Unique experiences such as the Sumo Training Viewing and Tea Ceremony are optionally available.
Depending on your preference and itinerary, I can guide you in Tokyo, Kamakura, and Hakone so that you can enjoy your time in Japan.

    • 14:35 – 16:30 Nezu / Yanaka

Title: What's a Private Day Tour of Tokyo's Tsukiji, Asakusa, and Yanaka Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. They had stayed in Kyoto for about three months over a decade ago, and had spent about a week in Hokkaido before coming here, but this was almost their first time in Tokyo. As it was the year-end period, some parks and facilities were closed, so I conducted a preliminary interview and planned a route covering Tsukiji, Asakusa, Yanaka, and Nezu. They mentioned that they would do shopping in areas like Shibuya and Shinjuku on their own on a later day. The guests wanted to take a boat to Asakusa, so making it in time for the boat's departure was the most challenging part of the day. The distance from the hotel to Tsukiji was not too far, but we took a taxi and first explored Tsukiji. Although the stay was only about 30 to 40 minutes and the market was extremely crowded, they managed to enjoy some sweets and tuna. Since we successfully caught the 11:35 boat from Hinode Pier, we were able to see everything more calmly from Asakusa onward. The ningyo-yaki did not seem to suit their taste, but they enjoyed everything else. The old houses of the Yanaka-Nezu-Sendagi area reminded them of Kyoto, where they had stayed before, and they seemed intrigued by the New Year decorations and kadomatsu displayed ahead of the new year. I guided them to Nezu Shrine, Yanaka Cemetery (including the grave of Tokugawa Yoshinobu), and Yanaka Ginza, after which they said they would head toward Shibuya on their own, and we parted ways. The weather was fine today, and I believe they were satisfied.

Hi, My name is Itsuki. I have been working as a tour guide since 2023 in Tokyo. I was born in Chiba prefecture where Narita international airport is located. This is one of the reasons I got interested in international exchange. I currently live in the east part of Tokyo. Tokyo station, Ueno, Asakusa, Akihabara, Tokyo Skytree are within 10km from my home.
I love travelling abroad (I have visited approximately one hundred countries) and fortunately I have had great experiences in all the countries. I hope you also have good memories here in Japan and it’s my pleasure if I could help you.
So far, I have had a lot of guests from different countries, religions and generations. Of course their interests are all different. No worry! Will try to arrange the best itinerary for you.

Can You Do a Private Day Trip to Nara? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from Oceania. Nara was extremely crowded with tourists today, and there was a long queue of about 100 meters just to enter Todai-ji Temple. This was likely because there were fewer tour groups and many independent travelers. At Kasuga Taisha Shrine as well, worshippers formed a line waiting to pray. It was the first time I had seen such a scene. I feel that Nara is gradually becoming as established a tourist destination as Kyoto. Getting deer crackers was also quite a challenge; we waited in line, but they sold out partway through, so we had to go to another shop before we could finally get some. Because of all this, it took a lot of time, and we ran out of time to visit Yoshikien Garden. The photo was taken in front of the Naramachi Koshi-no-ie (lattice house).

I was born and grew up in Kyoto and now live near Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto. I used to be a schoolteacher of English and welcome a lot of students from foreign countries. I really enjoyed showing them around Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Himeji, and Hiroshima. I have been a professional tour guide for about 8 years. I always try to let my guests learn Japanese traditional and modern culture. Since I was born in Kyoto, I know a lot about its culture and people. I myself enjoyed several sports, such as soccer, judo, and marathon when I was young. I’m much interested in baseball and sumo. My motto as a tour guide is to let my guests learn about our tradition and culture precisely and really enjoy themselves. I strongly hope you will enjoy the tour in Japan with me.

    • 15:20~16:00 Stroll around Kennin-ji Temple and Zenkyoan
    • 16:00 Disband at Hanamikoji Street

Title: What's a Family-Friendly Private Kyoto Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The itinerary had been arranged with a preference for staying close by, choosing places where the guests would not get bored, so Nishiki Market and the Pokemon Center were added to the plan above. The guests had also requested that the tour end so they could make a 17:30 reservation at the Samurai Kyoto Museum. When we actually met on the day, however, they said they wanted to return to the Hotel by 17:00 to avoid getting too tired. They also mentioned that before coming to Kyoto they had already done plenty of shopping in Tokyo, so today they wanted to experience "culture." At Nanzenji Temple I had thought it might be enough to show just the Sanmon gate, but they seemed keen to go further inside, so I showed them the dragon on the ceiling of the Hatto hall and the Suirokaku aqueduct. Although we could not enter Tenjuan, they were able to view the garden through the windows and took photographs with it as a backdrop. We then headed to Heian Shrine. Unfortunately the zoo was closed, but a giraffe and flamingos were visible along the canal, which delighted the guests. They were also moved by the great torii gate of Heian Shrine and happily took photos. When I explained that the architecture of Heian Shrine was greatly influenced by styles introduced from China during the Nara period, they were quite surprised. We then strolled along the beautiful Shirakawa. The younger of the guests was very eager to cross the bridges and was very pleased to do so, though the narrow single-plank bridge seemed too dangerous, so it was not crossed. Next, as they wished to visit Yasaka Shrine, I suggested a route entering from the north torii by going through Chionin and Maruyama Park, rather than the stair-heavy west gate. Along the way we took a break at the Sanmon gate of Chionin, and viewed herons and ducks at the gourd-shaped pond in Maruyama Park. At Yasaka Shrine, they were especially impressed by the lanterns of the dance hall. When I explained about unlucky years, it turned out that one of the guests was in such a year. We then strolled along Hanamikoji. As they showed interest in Kenninji Temple, we decided to pass through Kenninji and then walk back to the Hotel. After leaving Kenninji, one of the younger guests said they wanted to walk on their own, so I held their hand and we walked together. Although they had been running around until then, they surprisingly walked calmly hand in hand with me. We returned again to Hanamikoji, and after crossing Shijo Street, one of the guests said they could not walk any further, so we hailed a taxi and had them return to the Hotel. From the taxi window, the younger guest waved to me until I was out of sight. I have guided a few tours with children before, and generally the children would get bored, so I had felt somewhat uneasy about them, but this time the cheerful young ones made the tour enjoyable for me as well. The guests kindly agreed to have the photo posted on the web. Before the tour, they had bought T-shirts printed with "Kyoto" and wore them to join the tour.

I am a 53-year-old woman, living in Kyoto for nearly 40 years. I got the license in 2001. Since then, I worked as an interpreter or a translator in several companies, secretary at universities, and now work for a company on weekdays at the international dept.I do guiding job only weekend now. I started full swing guiding career after COVID-19 pandemic. I have gotten good review from many of my guests. I love my hometown, Kyoto which has a lot of interesting and historical sites to see. Particularly, I am native to Arashiyama which is famous for bamboo forest. So, I know a lot of places where you can relax yourself around this area. Other than that, Kyoto has many attractive sites which surely interest you. Also, I like meeting many people from different cultural background. I am very happy if I learn about your culture as well. Let’s enjoy exploring around Kyoto!

Title: What Can You See on a 6-Hour Private Kyoto Tour by Microbus? A Licensed Guide's Report Today's guests were a group visiting from North America. A microbus had been reserved for the day's transportation. When visiting popular spots such as the Sagano Bamboo Grove, Fushimi Inari, and Kiyomizu-dera, a microbus takes more time because the parking areas are located far from the sites. I was a little concerned about whether we would be able to visit all of the requested spots, but everyone in the group walked well, and we were able to finish in 6 hours, including lunch. We said goodbye at Kiyomizu-dera at the end, and I believe the guests enjoyed exploring on their own afterward.

Title: What Is a Private Kyoto Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Fushimi Inari, Sanjusangendo, and Kinkaku-ji The guests were a group visiting from North America, and it was their first time in Kyoto. I took the group to Fushimi Inari Taisha, Sanjusangendo, and Kinkaku-ji, and every location was as crowded as, or even more crowded than, the spring or autumn peak seasons. In particular, at Kinkaku-ji the line up to the ticket purchase area is normally about 50 meters, or 100 meters at most, but today the line stretched roughly 400 to 500 meters from outside the gate (I was told this was because the ticket counters had been limited). The bus to Kinkaku-ji was also extremely packed, and since this was a tour that included traveling with a very young child, I believe the group became quite tired. The group said that Kinkaku-ji was their favorite. In addition to that, one of the guests also felt that Sanjusangendo was wonderful.
