Can You Do a Private Day Tour of Kyoto Temples? A Licensed Guide's Report [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guide led the guests from North America on a private tour to Kitano Tenmangu Shrine, Kinkaku-ji, Ryoan-ji, and Ninna-ji in Kyoto. At Kitano Tenmangu Shrine, I explained Shinto and Sugawara no Michizane. At Kinkaku-ji, we talked about the beautiful garden and the actions of powerful rulers of the past. We had planned to have lunch at a soba restaurant, but there was a long line of people coming to eat year-end soba. So we changed our plans on the spot and went to a conveyor-belt sushi restaurant instead, which turned out to be very well received. After lunch, at Ryoan-ji, we viewed the rock garden while talking about Zen and the idea of "knowing what is enough," and the guests listened with great interest. Since we still had time, we extended the tour to Ninna-ji.

What Is a Private Kanazawa Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Kenrokuen and Kanazawa Castle Park The guests were a group visiting from North America. Although it was a day of intermittent cold rain, we were fortunate to be able to visit Kenrokuen Garden and Kanazawa Castle Park during breaks in the weather. The guests listened attentively to the explanations at each spot even in the rain, which made the guiding truly rewarding. One of the guests was interested in Miyamoto Musashi and asked various questions, but since my own knowledge was limited to part of the content of Eiji Yoshikawa's novel, I was unable to give the kind of answers they may have hoped for. Even so, the guests seemed genuinely interested in the remnants of Kanazawa's samurai culture.

What's a Private Tokyo Tour Like During the Busy Year-End Season? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting from North America and were staying in Tokyo only briefly. They had stopped by on their way to another destination as a preliminary scouting trip for a future visit. Originally, there was a request to visit the Tsukiji Outer Market, but since major crowds were expected during the year-end period, I initially suggested reconsidering. However, their wish was strong, and because the Hotel was within walking distance of Tsukiji, we decided to make a short stop. As expected, the market was extremely crowded, but the guests were able to experience the lively, energetic atmosphere and were very pleased. Afterward, I guided them according to the requests they had shared in advance, and we concluded the tour after taking them to a sushi restaurant for lunch. The weather was pleasant as well, and I believe it turned out to be a satisfying tour.

What Is a Private Full-Day Himeji Castle and Engyoji Temple Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Today's guests were a group visiting Japan from North America. We met at Himeji Station and toured Castle View, Himeji Castle, the Otemon Chaya (a light meal), Kokoen Garden, and Engyoji Temple on Mount Shosha, before ending the tour at Himeji Station. Himeji Castle was extremely crowded today, as it followed a four-day holiday period, but because the guests had purchased digital tickets in advance, entry was smooth and quick (which was a great help). The guests also moved through everything in an orderly manner, so we were able to proceed with the tour exactly as planned. There were some temperature changes throughout the tour — it was chilly when we met, warmer after touring Himeji Castle, and cold again at Engyoji Temple — but everyone remained in good spirits, and I believe it turned out to be a wonderful tour.

Title: What's an Early Morning Toyosu Market and Tsukiji Private Tour in Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan from the Middle East. They love Japan and had been looking forward to a sushi experience. Since their accommodation was in the Shinjuku area and it takes time to travel to Toyosu, we discussed in advance and set the start time at 5:30. The guests watched the tuna auction attentively and asked many keen questions about the auction methods and about the tuna itself. After the auction, we took the Yurikamome line to Odaiba while enjoying the scenery. We took in the panoramic view of Tokyo Bay at the Seaside Park, then traveled from Shiodome to Tsukiji Market Station. We had breakfast at a sushi restaurant inside the market and parted ways there. The guests then headed to Tokyo Disneyland, which they had planned to visit that day.

    • 15:10-15:40 Hibiya to Shinjuku. Accompany to the hotel and finish

Title: What Is a Private Walking Tour of Central Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Body: The guests were from Europe, now residing in Oceania. We met in the lobby of a hotel, and they expressed their hopes for guiding in French. Since they had arranged to meet a friend in West Shinjuku that evening, we confirmed the location while walking to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. Beneath the large railway overpass, I explained the photo panels on the wall showing Shinjuku as it looked 50 years ago. On this day, yellow dust from the continent had reached the Kanto region, so the sky was hazy and yellowish, and the views were not ideal. At Tsukiji Market, the guests enjoyed comparing it with markets they were familiar with. After strolling through Ginza, we went from Sakuradamon to the Nijubashi Bridge at the Imperial Palace. The tour offered a striking contrast of central Tokyo scenery: the high-rise district of West Shinjuku, the bustle of the Tsukiji outer market, glamorous Ginza, and the history-steeped Imperial Palace. Although it was a short time, I was able to guide them through Tokyo with a well-paced variety of experiences.

What Is a Private New Year's Day Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from Europe, traveling as a group. One of the guests handled communication in English. They planned to visit Hakone on January 1, then travel to Kyoto, and finally return home from Tokyo. Since their accommodation was near Shinagawa Station, we walked to Takanawa Gateway Station, which is only slightly farther than the Shinagawa Station that was under construction, so they could experience the Takanawa embankment and the futuristic atmosphere of the station. As it was before 10:00 a.m., the moving robots were unfortunately not yet in operation and we could not ride them, but I explained how they could try them on a future visit. Also, on the 28th floor of the NEWoMan commercial facility, the restaurants had not yet opened and access was limited, but part of the sky garden was open, and from there we could clearly see Mount Fuji dusted with snow. The guests were delighted and took many photos. We then visited Zojoji Temple, Tokyo Tower, and the Imperial Palace, where one of the guests took many panoramic photos with a smartphone. At the food floor in the basement of the Nihonbashi Takashimaya, they were amazed at the size of Japanese fruit, such as how strawberries were much larger compared to those back home. Since they planned to enjoy a meal after the tour, I recommended places in Asakusa serving delicious tempura, ramen, and dango. They were also interested in strawberry daifuku and skewered strawberry candy. At Sensoji Temple, they purchased amulets. At Asakusa Shrine, they experienced the shrine's particular way of praying before we said goodbye.

Title: What's a Private Tokyo Sightseeing Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Meiji Shrine, Asakusa, and Tokyo Tower The guests were a group from Oceania visiting Japan for the first time. They planned to continue to Kyoto and Osaka after sightseeing in Tokyo. At Meiji Shrine, they seemed impressed by the quiet and solemn atmosphere, which was very different from nearby Shibuya. On Takeshita Street, they showed interest in the many animal cafes and crepe shops. At the Imperial Palace, they were very interested in the historical explanations about the role of the Emperor, the Meiji Restoration, and the Edo shogunate and shoguns. At Senso-ji Temple, they listened with interest to explanations about the differences between temples and shrines, as well as the Kaminarimon Gate. At Tokyo Tower, they seemed impressed by the sunset view over Tokyo. I responded to the guests' requests as they wished, so I believe they were satisfied.

I am Seizo Kamiuto, National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter (English). I was born in Kagoshima City in Kyushu (Southern part of Japan) and grew up there until the graduation from a high school. I came to Tokyo to enter a University in Tokyo and since then, I have lived in Tokyo for more than 40 years and therefore I know Tokyo and its suburbs and Kagoshima City very well. After retiring from an IT company, I have been working as a Guide Interpreter of English since March 2018. I have guided many overseas guests to the popular sightseeing spots in Tokyo, Kamakura, Mt. Fuji area (Kawaguchiko Lake etc.), Hakone, Nikko, Yokohama, Kawagoe and Kagoshima and so on. I have received good reviews from many guests. I can explain the history and the culture of Japan in detail. I look forward to an opportunity to guide you in Japan. Thank you. Seizo Kamiuto

Title: What's a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like for Guests Who Want Quieter Spots? A Licensed Guide's Report The tour was for a group visiting from North America. After asking about their wishes beforehand, I proposed several plans and let them choose. Since they wanted to visit quiet places with fewer tourists, they selected Ninna-ji Temple, which turned out to be an excellent choice. While Fushimi Inari and Kinkaku-ji were very crowded during the year-end season, Ninna-ji allowed them to relax and take their time. To reduce walking as much as possible, they used taxis for all transfers. As going up and down stairs seemed to be a bit of a burden, at Kinkaku-ji I guided them to the back of the Golden Pavilion and then we turned back. One of the guests seemed interested in Shinto and Buddhism and asked many good questions. At Ninna-ji, we saw the five-story pagoda before returning to the Niomon Gate. Afterwards, since they wanted to return to the hotel to rest, I saw them off as they left by taxi. They were a very friendly group and were delighted, saying that all three places were wonderful.

What Is a Private Day Trip from Tokyo to Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests visited Kyoto on a day trip from Tokyo. Since there were many places they wanted to see, I planned the itinerary without a set lunch break. After meeting them, I explained that we had not set aside a lunch time, so we would grab a snack somewhere if they got hungry. It was the end of the year and everywhere was extremely crowded, so we entered Kiyomizu-dera Temple through the back entrance. The crowds along the approach were like a packed commuter train, and we had to stop many times along the way. There were lines at every food shop, but a newly opened place called Rabbit Bagels was not busy, so we had bagels and drinks inside. Kinkaku-ji Temple was also crowded, and there was a long line even just to buy the admission tickets. Since the guests wanted to have a meal before returning to Tokyo on the 20:30 bullet train, I told them about a few familiar restaurants around Nishiki Market, Teramachi, and Shinkyogoku, and then we parted ways.

I’m Ryoichi Kazuma and my nickname is “Kazz”. I live in Kyotanabe city next to Kyoto city. I want guests to enjoy Kyoto by seeing and experiencing not only from outside but also from inside. I offer various information from daily matters to traditional cultures. Most destinations in Kyoto are located on the eastern side or the western side. As I want to guide guests to as many destinations as possible, I make an efficient itinerary and recommend a taxi use to save time. Additionally, I take pictures at various spots and finally share the link to my storage. By doing so, guests can download their favorite pictures from my storage. Please enjoy Kyoto night and day!
