    Title: What's a Relaxed Private Tour of Tokyo's Quiet Cultural Spots Like? A Licensed Guide's Report 1. The tour and the guests' reactions The guests were visitors from North America, and one of them was scheduled to run the Tokyo Marathon the following day. They requested a relaxed sightseeing experience the day before the marathon, so I arranged a tour that avoided crowds, which they greatly appreciated. At Koishikawa Korakuen Garden, they were moved by the lovely fragrance of the plum blossoms still in bloom, and they happily took many photos of the early-blooming kanhizakura cherry blossoms. They enjoyed amazake from a stall along the way and were surprised by the natural sweetness of the rice. During the goma fire ritual at Fukagawa Fudoson Temple, they were deeply moved by the flames of the sacred fire and the sound of the great taiko drums. They had their Apple Watch purified in the goma flames and were delighted, saying they would wear it while running the marathon the next day. At the tea ceremony experience in Yanaka, they were pleased to receive a serving of tea made with antique tea utensils. At Nezu Shrine, they enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere. 2. Other impressions and notes Following the guests' wishes, I planned an itinerary that avoided popular but crowded spots such as Asakusa and the Shibuya Scramble Crossing, and instead chose places and attractions that strongly preserve traditional Japanese culture yet are not overrun with tourists. The guests were very happy with this plan, and as a guide I felt a great sense of accomplishment and joy. They shared the race number for the next day's Tokyo Marathon, so I would like to cheer them on by checking their running position on the official Tokyo Marathon website.

    Title: What Can You See on a Full-Day Private Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report The guest came to Japan from Europe and was visiting the country for the first time (one member of the group had visited Asia many times before but had never been to Japan). The main purpose of this visit was to participate as a runner in the Tokyo Marathon, having finally been selected after applying for three consecutive years. The guest mentioned an interest in mountain climbing and ski touring, and expressed great confidence in their physical fitness. Three days earlier, the group had arrived at Kansai Airport from Europe via Asia. After enjoying a trip to Kyoto, they traveled to Tokyo by Shinkansen the previous day. For the following day, they planned to do a jogging loop around the Imperial Palace and watch a sumo show. After the marathon in March, they planned to return home by air the next day. The tour took place under cloudy skies, but the weather was pleasantly warm. We first went to Tsukiji. After strolling through the Tsukiji Uogashi, we took a leisurely walk through the market area. I explained the history of the fish market dating back to the Edo period, and the difference between Toyosu Market and the Tsukiji Outer Market. There were questions and comments such as, "Do all Tokyo residents come here to buy fish?" and "It's crowded, but it seems like there are many tourists here." There was also a comment that it resembled the atmosphere of markets in Asia. We moved on to Asakusa. The grounds of Senso-ji Temple were crowded with tourists and student groups on school trips. I explained the history of Senso-ji Temple and the transition from Edo to Tokyo, the purpose of the five-story pagoda, the basics of Buddhism, and the difference between Buddhism and Shinto. We took commemorative photos at the Kaminarimon Gate, in front of the five-story pagoda, and at various other spots, and strolled leisurely along the Nakamise shopping street. There were questions such as, "What are the main religions in Japan?", "How many Christians are there in Japan?", and "Besides Buddhism, what other religions do people follow?" At the guest's request to check the gathering and starting point of the Tokyo Marathon in advance, we went to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government building. An information desk had already been set up, and we asked about matters such as how things would proceed on the morning of the event. After that, we went to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Observatory. Unfortunately, we were unable to see Mount Fuji, but the guest remarked, "It was great to get an overall view of Tokyo. I really understood what a huge, expansive city it is." I explained the size and area of Tokyo, the population of Tokyo and Japan, and some of the challenges Tokyo currently faces. We then moved to Shibuya. We actually crossed the famous scramble crossing. There were questions such as, "How many people gather here at peak times?" and "Why did it become so famous?" We took photos in front of the Hachiko statue and also strolled leisurely through Shibuya Center Street. At the guest's request to eat ramen, we went to a ramen restaurant. We moved on to Harajuku. Despite it being a weekday, it was quite crowded. At Meiji Shrine, I explained about Shinto, torii gates, Emperor Meiji, why sake barrels are displayed, and why wine barrels are displayed. There were questions such as, "What kind of religion is Shinto?" and "How does Buddhism differ from Shinto?" We also strolled along Takeshita Street, and at the guest's request, visited a sportswear shop. There were comments and questions such as, "The city is so clean, with no litter on the streets," "I was surprised at how clean the public restrooms are," and "There are no trash cans on the streets. Why is that?" We saw the guest off at Tokyo Station and parted ways.

    In the past, I was stationed in Canada, the United States, and Mexico as an expatriate of a Japanese bank for over 11 years.
    Since I have been mainly involved in the financing business in the United States for a long time, I think I am able to provide interpretation and translation services related to business and finance.
    I am a certified CPA in the United States.
    In addition, for three years from April 2016, I will be engaged in Japanese-English translation work (part-time), and I can also handle translation work.
    Although I don’t have a qualification in Spanish, but I think I can handle day to day conversation in Spanish without any problems.
    My hobby is trekking and from time to time, take a walk around mountains near Tokyo like Mt. Takao, Tanzawa, etc. I think it is possible to provide tourist information here as well.
    Since April 2015, I have been working as a Tokyo Metropolitan Tourism Volunteer and Tokyo Metropolitan Disaster Prevention Volunteer.
    One more, I have a separate house near Asuka Village, Nara prefecture, and I stay there for a total of about 30 days every year and have been enjoying sightseeing personally in the vicinity. Therefore, I think in the Kansai region, especially in Nara, Asuka, Yoshino, Koyasan, Kumano Kodo, etc., where I think I will be able to tour guide with confidence.

    Title: What's a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report This tour was a substitute assignment, as the guide originally assigned had fallen ill. There was no communication at all from the agency involved in between, so both the guests and I approached the day with some concern. However, there turned out to be nothing to worry about. When I arrived at the Hotel, the guests were waiting on a bench at the entrance. They were both friendly and easygoing, which was a great relief. The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from Oceania. They had no trouble walking and no dietary restrictions, so they were easy guests to guide. Although the tour took place with some wind and occasional light rain, they enjoyed it energetically. The previous guide's itinerary covered the Higashiyama area plus Nijo Castle, which involved quite a lot of walking, but I found it to be an interesting course. We took a taxi from Sanjusangendo to Kiyomizu-dera. The photo was taken at an eatery along the approach to Kiyomizu-dera.

    What Is a Private Osaka Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Shitennoji, Sumiyoshi Taisha, and Kuromon Market The guests were from North America, and everything went smoothly throughout the day. They showed great interest at each spot and listened attentively to the guide's explanations. When moving from Shitennoji to Sumiyoshi Taisha, we used the Hankai Line, a streetcar that has become rare in major cities today, which the guests enjoyed. At Sumiyoshi Taisha, the ring-entering ceremony of the two grand champions for the grand sumo tournament starting on the 8th of next month was scheduled to take place, so by around noon when we were leaving, entry had become restricted. (Incidentally, Sumiyoshi Taisha is said to be the birthplace of grand sumo, and every year during the Osaka tournament it serves as the lodging for the Tatsunami stable, to which yokozuna Hoshoryu belongs.) The guests picked up the popular "Godairiki" pebbles and also purchased small amulet pouches. At Kuromon Market, as the guests were a little hungry and wished to have udon, I guided them to a local udon shop, where we parted ways. I presented handmade drawstring pouches made by my sister, which the guests were delighted to receive.

    I would like to warmly welcome you to Japan this time. I am from the city of Kobe, which is of course, well-known for very tasty Kobe Beef . You can taste
    real genuine Kobe Beef here. Kobe is also called “Home of Japanese Sake” with lots of Sake breweries, and I recommend you would visit those breweries
    if you have any interest in Japanese Sake as well as one aspect of Japanese cultures. Of course, you can have tastings of various kinds of Sake there.

    Whenever during the tour, I always try to make it safe, pleasant and comfortable for all of the guests, which is my first priority. I am very much confident
    that you can have a pleasant and unforgettable experience in Japan. Just tell me about your preference; what you would like to like to see, have, know
    and eat and so on. Particularly, I hold the license for cooking qualified by the government here and maybe, I can reply you for questions related to the
    foods here. In this respect, I strongly recommend you would try not only famous Japanese cuisine such as Sushi, Tempura or Suki-yaki but some
    Japanese traditional local foods, like Tako-yaki, Okonomi-yaki and Kushkatsu. They are sometimes called the soul foods of Japan. Here is the brief
    explanation for these three foods.

    1) Tako-yaki
    Tako-yaki is a snack filled with pieces of octopus in a batter of flour , egg and soup stock. You can call them octopus dumplings or balls. “Tako” means
    octopus and “yaki” means grilled or broiled.
    2) Okonomi-yaki
    This word Okonomi-yaki means “cook just as you like” and you can use whatever you like as toppings, such as beef, pork, shrimp, squid and octopus.
    Okonomi-yaki is round shape and just like pancakes or pizza in shape mainly made from egg, flour and water.
    3) Kushi-katsu
    Kushi-katsu is skewered cutlet or deep-fried foods on a stick. “Kushi” means skewer and “katsu” means cutlet. Various kinds of foods are used for
    ingredients such as beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, squid, octopus and lots of kinds of vegetables.

    Actually, the western Japan including Osaka, Kobe and Himeji is called as “Home of such local soul foods”. You should give it a try and I am sure
    that you like them very much.

    What Can You See on a Private Tokyo Tour After the Main Sights? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests came from Europe, and since they had already visited the main sightseeing spots in Tokyo by the previous day, I guided them to places they had not yet been. They also asked me to rely as little as possible on SUICA and to focus mainly on areas reachable with a one-day subway pass, since they were returning home the next day. Because of this somewhat challenging request, we had to give up on the planned visit to Shibamata Taishakuten. I guided them to a variety of places, but they did not show particular interest in any specific spot, and I was unable to tell what they were most interested in throughout the tour. The tour also proceeded without lunch, which made it demanding for me as a guide. In the end, I took them to Tokyo Tower, and at their request to finish the tour one hour earlier than scheduled, we ended there. The weather was fine that day, and I believe the guests enjoyed the tour.

    What's a Private Day Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Nezu Shrine, Asakusa, and Shibuya The guests were a group visiting from North America along with friends from Asia, and some of them were visiting Japan for the first time. Some had come to Japan to take part in the Tokyo Marathon. Since one of the guests had difficulty walking, we used escalators and elevators as much as possible throughout the day. The guests were amazed at how clean the subway was. At the guests' request, we first visited Nezu Shrine, which they said was very beautiful. They took photos at the row of torii gates. We then took a taxi to Asakusa, where we first went up to the observation deck of the information center to take in the overall view, and afterward visited Senso-ji Temple, the Nakamise shopping street, the five-story pagoda, and the main hall. The guests found the buildings very beautiful and enjoyed taking photos with the early-blooming cherry blossoms. After a short break at a coffee shop, we moved on to Shibuya, where they experienced Hachiko and the Shibuya Crossing. As the guests planned to return to their hotel individually by taxi, we saw them into taxis in front of the station and ended the tour.

    What Is a Private Nikko Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were friendly and approachable people. They said they were happy to leave the Nikko tour largely up to me, and mentioned they would like to see quiet, hidden scenic spots. For this reason, after guiding them through Toshogu Shrine and Taiyuin, I took them to the Tamozawa Imperial Villa and Kanmangafuchi Abyss. Since they were interested in history and culture, I did my best to share stories about history and culture in an enjoyable way. For lunch, I took them to a wonderful restaurant matching their interests, where traditional Japanese and Western architecture were beautifully blended. The guests were both strong walkers with a keen intellectual curiosity, and they listened attentively to my explanations. They told me many times that they were very satisfied not only with the restaurant but also with the sightseeing spots and the explanations. I am sure the guests were very pleased.

They took an early train from Tokyo and arrived at Kyoto Station by Shinkansen. Everyone in the group was cheerful, and there were many jokes shared along the way, so at times it was hard to tell how seriously to respond. They mentioned that Japanese cars are commonly used in their area as well, and they remarked on how clean Japan is. Before the tour, I had communicated with one of the guests via a messaging app. We visited four classic sightseeing spots in Kyoto, and at every location the guests were impressed, amazed, and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.     Title: What Is a Private Tuna Auction and Tsukiji Tour Like in Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report 1. The day's tour and the guests' reactions The guests were visitors from North America. They had been very much looking forward to seeing the tuna auction. When I explained that the auction is conducted simultaneously by several major wholesalers competing against one another, the guests were delighted, saying, "So the auction isn't only a contest between sellers and buyers, but also a battle among the auctioneers themselves — that's fascinating, and we could never have understood it to that depth without a guide." After the auction, at a sushi restaurant we enjoyed a full course of tuna, and the guests savored the differences in flavor among the various cuts. They seemed to especially like the marinated tuna (zuke). After the sushi, they said they wanted to have coffee, so I guided them to Yonemoto Coffee in the Tsukiji Outer Market. When I mentioned that this was a place John Lennon loved, they took many photos while the coffee was being prepared. They said they were full from the sushi, so for about an hour we strolled through the Outer Market as I introduced some recommended shops, and the guests planned to return at their leisure after the tour. 2. Other impressions and notes Today's viewing spot was packed with tourists. As the cherry blossom season approaches, I expect the crowds to grow even larger, so I thought that, if possible, I would discuss with guests meeting at Toyosu Market to secure a slightly better spot.

The weather today was warm and cloudy, making it very comfortable, and nowhere was particularly crowded, so it was a perfect day for sightseeing. Kiyomizu-dera, Nijo Castle, and Kinkaku-ji, which are usually extremely busy, were surprisingly quiet, so we were able to enjoy them at a relaxed pace. The guest had a strong interest in Japanese history and was very knowledgeable about it. I believe the guest was pleased.
