On this day, Mount Fuji was clearly visible, so we took photos at a popular viewpoint, ate the famous black eggs, and then left this well-loved spot. We had lunch at Togendai, and at Hakonemachi Port the guests enjoyed a sake tasting. Walking along the Tokaido cedar avenue, we reflected on the travelers of the past, and at the final stop, Hakone Shrine, the guests received a brief lecture on shrine etiquette, the differences between shrines and their customs, and how to pray.     What Is a Private Hakone Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Lake Ashi, Mount Fuji, and the Narukawa Art Museum The guests had been visiting various parts of Japan by cruise ship over the preceding weeks, enjoying fine weather and the cherry blossoms during that time. On the day of the tour, the wind was a little strong, but the weather was reasonably good, and although there were many clouds, we were also able to see Mount Fuji. One of the guests walked slowly with the aid of a cane, but was able to manage stairs of about one building floor, so getting on and off the ropeway and going between the first and second floors of the Narukawa Art Museum was not a particular problem. At Hakone Shrine, we parked the car in a parking lot on the same level next to the main hall, so this was also no problem. The guests seemed to find each of the places we visited interesting and enjoyable, and they were especially impressed by the various works depicting Mount Fuji at the Narukawa Art Museum, as well as the works by the painter Reiji Hiramatsu depicting Monet's water lilies (the theme being the exchange and fusion of East and West). This booking was also made through a travel agency. Although I had exchanged emails with the agency two or three times just beforehand, when I met the guests on the morning of the tour, they told me, "There was no contact from you, so I was worried about whether you would really come." I explained that I had been in contact with the agency, that I had not been able to reach them directly because they did not seem to use a messaging app, and that I had asked the agency to confirm their phone number but had received no reply. They seemed to understand after that. They mentioned that they had started using a messaging app just before the tour.

    What's a Private Kyoto Day Tour from Osaka Like for Guests? A Licensed Guide's Report I guided a group visiting from North America. The [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) private tour began with a visit to Fushimi Inari, where I guided the group along the wheelchair-accessible route, but a slope along the way was steeper than expected, and there were moments where the wheelchair tended to roll forward. At Kinkaku-ji, I guided the group as far as the stone structure of the Dragon Gate before the staircase, and afterwards we had lunch at a nearby Japanese restaurant. The food was very well received, and nearly all of it was finished. Next, at Nanzen-ji, only the entrance to the abbot's quarters was reached by using a cane to climb the steps, and the interior was explored using a dedicated wheelchair. In the quiet surroundings, the group especially enjoyed the views of the temple gate and the garden. When we got off at the Gion Kobu Kaburenjo, we happened to encounter maiko from another entertainment district just after the end of the Miyako Odori, which delighted the group greatly. I guided the group back toward Osaka, ending the tour. This was my first time guiding while accommodating a wheelchair, and I felt that even at facilities described as barrier-free, in reality there were steep slopes, level differences, and stairs, so they were not completely barrier-free.

    Title: What's a Private Tokyo Tour with Tsukiji, Shinjuku Gyoen, and Cherry Blossoms Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group from North America. The day before the tour, they contacted me because their flight had been canceled, asking whether the tour could be postponed by one day, and I was able to accommodate the change. They were very grateful, saying it felt almost impossible that this could be arranged. At Tsukiji Market, they were delighted to enjoy tamagoyaki (grilled egg), yakitori, sashimi, and eel. Since this took longer than expected, I changed the original plan of preparing lunch at the Isetan depachika (department store food hall) and having it on the lawn at Shinjuku Gyoen, and instead we had a quick lunch of noodles and onigiri in Akihabara. They seemed to enjoy the Kansai-style dashi broth and said it was very delicious, which was reassuring. As for the cherry blossom viewing they had requested, we were able to see the double-flowered cherry blossoms at Shinjuku Gyoen and take photos, and they were very satisfied. They thanked me for adjusting the date and for being a wonderful guide.

    Title: What Can You See on a Private One-Day Tour of Tokyo Before a Cruise Departure? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America, both visiting Japan for the first time. This time, they were on an approximately 140-day round-Japan cruise (including Busan) departing from Yokohama Port. They would set sail from Yokohama Port the next day, and after returning to Yokohama, they planned to stay in Tokyo for a further three days before flying home. They said, "We'd like to see what Tokyo is like before we set sail." They also commented, "We had been looking forward to seeing the cherry blossoms, but…" The tour took place under clear skies. First, we headed to Asakusa. In the car, I explained "the history and significance of Tokyo" and "the history of Yokohama." We started from in front of the Kaminarimon Gate. I explained "the history of Sensoji Temple and the transition from Edo to Tokyo," "what the five-story pagoda is for," "what Buddhism is," and "the difference between Buddhism and Shinto." We took commemorative photos at various spots, including in front of the Kaminarimon Gate and the five-story pagoda. The temple grounds were extremely crowded (full of overseas tourists), and we strolled slowly through the Nakamise shopping street. There were questions such as "What are the major religions in Japan?", "How many Buddhists are there in Japan?", and "Besides Buddhism, what religions do people follow?" There was also a question: "We see many women wearing kimono in the temple grounds — why is that? Are they all Japanese?" They purchased an "omamori" (protective charm) as a souvenir for their grandchild. We moved on to Tsukiji. Despite it being a market holiday, it was crowded. I explained "the history of the fish market since the Edo period" and "the difference between Toyosu Market and the Tsukiji Outer Market." There were questions and comments such as "Do all people in Tokyo come here to buy fish?" and "It's crowded, but it seems like there are a lot of tourists after all." Saying "We'd like to try something," they tried "grilled Kobe beef skewers." We also visited Namiyoke Shrine, where I gave further explanation about "Shinto." We moved on to Koishikawa Korakuen. One of the guests was a big professional baseball fan and a huge fan of the Chicago White Sox, Shohei Ohtani, and Ichiro. They said, "We wanted to see a Giants game at Korakuen Stadium, but unfortunately we couldn't get tickets." We stopped by the stadium shop, and they bought a Giants cap and were in high spirits. We strolled slowly around Koishikawa Korakuen, and I explained "its origins and history." They said, "A Japanese garden really is calming," and "It feels wonderful." We took a break at the teahouse in the garden. We went to the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace. Most of the cherry blossoms had already fallen, but a few weeping cherry trees remained, and they photographed them eagerly. I explained "Japanese history from Edo to Meiji," "the Meiji Restoration," "why Edo Castle became the Imperial Palace," "the history of the imperial family," "World War II and the air raids on Tokyo," and "how stone walls are built." There were questions and comments such as "Does the current Emperor of Japan hold any political power?" and "Who is the next-generation emperor?" We also strolled around the Nijubashi Bridge area. There were comments and questions such as "Tokyo's streets are clean, with no litter. It's such a difference from Chicago," "There are no trash cans on the streets. Why is that?", and "There are vending machines everywhere." Finally, I saw them off at the entrance of the Hotel, and we parted ways.

    In the past, I was stationed in Canada, the United States, and Mexico as an expatriate of a Japanese bank for over 11 years.
    Since I have been mainly involved in the financing business in the United States for a long time, I think I am able to provide interpretation and translation services related to business and finance.
    I am a certified CPA in the United States.
    In addition, for three years from April 2016, I will be engaged in Japanese-English translation work (part-time), and I can also handle translation work.
    Although I don’t have a qualification in Spanish, but I think I can handle day to day conversation in Spanish without any problems.
    My hobby is trekking and from time to time, take a walk around mountains near Tokyo like Mt. Takao, Tanzawa, etc. I think it is possible to provide tourist information here as well.

    Title: What's a Full-Day Private Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Shibuya, Meiji Shrine, Asakusa, and Shinjuku The guests were a group visiting from North America. We started with photos in front of Shibuya Station at the Hachiko statue and the scramble crossing. Then we moved to Meiji Shrine, where I talked about Japanese history, the difference between shrines and temples, and Emperor Meiji and the shrine, explaining key points as we walked along the approach, and we offered our prayers at the main hall. Next, on Takeshita Street, we strolled while enjoying sweets and other treats, then looked at clothing on Cat Street, and took the subway to Asakusa. On the way, we found that the Ginza Line was only running as far as Mitsukoshimae and was suspended toward Asakusa, so we had to switch to a route using the Toei Asakusa Line, which took extra time. After lunch in Asakusa, at the Culture and Tourism Center I talked about the origins of Asakusa and the surrounding buildings, then we walked from Kaminarimon through Nakamise, drawing omikuji fortunes along the way and enjoying the stroll, and offered our prayers at the main hall. After that, we took the subway to Shinjuku-Sanchome and enjoyed shopping, though it took longer than expected. Finally, the guests saw the 3D cat display in front of the station and the head of Godzilla on top of a building, and with that we concluded the tour.

    What Is a Private Kyoto Day Tour Like for Cruise Ship Passengers? A Licensed Guide's Report Today's guests were a group visiting from North America. One of the guests was a big baseball fan and listened to live coverage of a game throughout the tour. The reason one of the guests does not appear in the attached photos is that they were listening to the baseball broadcast a little apart from the rest of the group. Some of the guests were interested in the tea ceremony, ceramics, and pottery, and did a lot of shopping. Since the shopping took up a good deal of time, we used a taxi. The group was traveling by cruise ship, and wishing to enjoy Kyoto in the evening, they had a meal in Kyoto before returning to their cruise ship at the Port of Kobe.

    Title: What Is a Slow-Paced Private Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America, and I guided them on their first day in Tokyo after a cruise tour. Since one of the guests could not walk long distances, we used Uber and taxis for all transportation and proceeded at a relaxed pace with breaks along the way. Koishikawa Korakuen Garden was beautifully green, with azaleas, rabbit-ear irises, and wisteria in bloom, and the guests, who love flowers and nature, were delighted. A group of elderly men with cameras were near the pond, so I spoke to them and learned they were waiting to photograph a kingfisher; they showed us many photos they had taken there, and it was a very lively exchange. For lunch, since fish was not an option, I suggested a yakiniku restaurant, and the guests finished everything and said it was delicious. While keeping an eye on the well-being of the guests, they also enjoyed shopping for souvenirs for family and themselves, including prayer beads, a good-luck charm, a kimono gown, a beckoning cat, cat earrings, and rice crackers. We visited fewer places than usual and toured at a leisurely pace, and after seeing them off at their hotel, they told me it had been a wonderful tour, and we concluded.

    Title: What Is a Private Half-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Nijo Castle and Nanzenji The guests were originally expected to include some adults and a young child, but since moving around with a stroller would have been difficult, one member of the group stayed at the hotel to look after the child, and in the end two of the guests joined the tour. Some of the guests had visited Japan for work several times but had only been to Kyoto once or twice, and had visited Japan a couple of times in total. At Nijo Castle, the guests seemed to particularly enjoy the Ninomaru Garden. At Nanzenji Temple, they appeared to like the Nyoshin-tei Garden and the Suirokaku aqueduct. Next, they viewed the garden at Tenjuan, and afterward we took a short break at a nearby cafe. When I asked what they would like to do next, they said they would return to the hotel to have lunch with the child. I mentioned that on the way back we could see Heian Shrine with its large torii gate, and asked if they would like to stop by. They said they would, so instead of heading toward Keage Station, I guided them toward Higashiyama Station, introducing places such as Kyoto City Zoo (the child apparently loves rabbits) and Heian Shrine, and led them to the exit of Higashiyama subway station. When I asked whether they could make it back to the hotel on their own, they said they would be fine, so we parted ways around 14:00.

    Hiro in Japanese means large or big. Although I’m neither large nor big, you can call me Hiro. How are you doing ?
    I lived in a city nearby Kobe city. Do you know Kobe ? Kobe is famous for Kobe beef and pearl. If you have not yet had Kobe beef, you should taste the authentic Kobe beef. It is very satisfying taste. But I have recently moved to a city in Kyoto prefecture, so I can be in Kyoto city in about one hour. By the way, I am a family of four. I have a son and a daughter. My son now works in Tokyo. I sometimes go to Tokyo to see him. Tokyo is a huge city, but too crowded, so it seems not to suit me. I seem to be better suited to a small city than a big one. Where do you live in ? How many families do you have ? If you like, please tell me about them. I worked in the quality assurance department of a pharmaceutical company and visited the factories of foreign affiliated companies, so I became interested in foreign cultures and obtained a qualification as an interpreter guide in 2015.

    I have been a guide for about eight years. During that time, I have guided in Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe, Nara, Kochi and so on, although I could do little guiding work between 2020 and 2022 due to COVID-19. However, since last year, my guiding work has been back! So, I am happy to be able to meet different people again. My hobby is travelling, but sadly, I am not in a position to travel abroad easily at the moment due to the very weak yen, and I hope to travel abroad again when the situation eases a bit more.
    How many countries have you been to so far ? Which countries have you liked so far? Another hobby is watching sports – baseball and football. Do you like the baseball ? Do you know Otani, Japanese baseball player ? He has joined Dodgers in Los Angeles this year. I look forward to another successful year for Otani.

    By the way, what interests you in Japan? Food, history, scenery ? As far as tourist attractions are concerned, famous places are too crowded. If you like, I also would like to show you some less crowded places. Are you interested in experiencing something ? If you want to experience something, I can suggest an experience plan for you. If so, please contact me as early as possible. As for food, what kind of food do you like? There are many kinds of delicious food. Of course, you can get good food in fine restaurants, but you can also get good food in downtown restaurants. If you like alcohol, why don’t you try Japanese sake? It can range from light and fragrant to rich in flavor, so you’re sure to find a Japanese sake you like.

    My motto is “Be content with life.” However, I find myself complaining all the time. If you like, please tell me your motto. I want to treat all guests who visit Japan with the spirit of “Treasure every encounter” and guide them so that they can enjoy themselves and have good memories of Japan.

    What Is a Private Sapporo Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests had requested a seafood meal at Nijo Market in advance, so we had breakfast there. Maruyama Park, home to Hokkaido Shrine, is one of the most representative cherry blossom viewing spots in Sapporo, but when the tour was being planned it was expected that the blossoms would not yet be in season. However, this year the blossoms arrived quite early, so we were also able to enjoy the cherry blossoms. The observation floor of the JR Tower, which we visited last, had relatively few tourists, so we were able to relax in the chairs and enjoy the view from the windows. Finally, I gave the guests information about the Sapporo Beer Museum, which they planned to visit next, and the beer garden where they could have a meal, and concluded the tour at the taxi stand.
