What Does a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Cover? A Licensed Guide's Report Today I guided a group of friends visiting from Oceania. They were traveling to many places including Tokyo and Kyoto, and yesterday they had walked part of the Nakasendo from Nagoya in the rain. Today we went first to Kiyomizu-dera, which was expected to be very crowded, and by arriving early we avoided the worst of the crowds, though Sannenzaka was quite busy. After that we strolled through the Gion district and had lunch at a soba restaurant. We then visited Nijo Castle, which was fairly empty, so we were able to take our time and look around comfortably. When we reached Sanjusangen-do, it was time for the tour to end, so I gave a brief explanation before finishing. I believe the guests enjoyed themselves.

Title: What Is a Private Cherry Blossom Tour in Hakodate Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America who arrived by cruise ship. The cherry blossoms at Goryokaku were in full bloom, and they were truly moved by the sight. In Hakodate, when I explained how apple-pruning techniques from Hirosaki have been applied to carefully cultivate many cherry trees, some of which are over 100 years old, they were very impressed. They were delighted by the magnificent trees, saying they were the finest they had ever seen. Blessed with fine weather, they enjoyed the view from Mount Hakodate and saw many cherry blossoms, and seemed very satisfied. Since Goryokaku Tower was crowded in the morning, we saved it for the afternoon, and luckily we were able to go up without any wait, which pleased them greatly.

What Is a Private Guided Tour of Ise Jingu Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. This was a trip to offer various experiences to mark a milestone, and it included a visit to Ise Jingu, a shrine the guests had wished to visit for many years. I provided careful explanations about the various areas within Ise Jingu, and I believe I was able to help them deepen their understanding. At the Sengukan Museum, they were able to see up close things that cannot normally be viewed, such as the main sanctuary structures, the timber, and the construction methods, and I believe they came to understand the significance and details of the Shikinen Sengu ritual.

What Is a Private Ise Jingu Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan. Some of the guests showed a strong interest in Ise Jingu and had studied about it in advance, so I gave a careful explanation of the origins and history of the shrine. On the day of the tour, preparations for the "Mokuzo Hajime Sai" ceremony (held on the 21st) had begun, and I explained the purpose and significance of the Shikinen Sengu (the periodic rebuilding of the shrine) in response to the guests' questions. The weather was fine, and the sacred grounds of the shrine and the surrounding mountains were beautiful with fresh green foliage, so I believe the guests were able to fully enjoy the atmosphere of Ise Jingu. At the Sengukan museum, they were able to see a full-scale model of the main sanctuary, which I believe helped deepen their understanding of the shrine.

What's a Rainy-Day Private Osaka Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Osaka Castle, Kuromon Market, and Dotonbori The guests this time were a group who came to Japan from Europe and were sightseeing while traveling on a cruise ship. Prior consultations, such as deciding which places to visit, were handled through one of the guests. The assignment had been decided more than a year in advance, but there was no contact until this April, which made me a little concerned. However, when I reached out again, I received a prompt reply, and their desired destinations were clear — "Osaka Castle → Kuromon Market → Dotonbori" — so we confirmed those three places as a four-hour course from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Unfortunately, the forecast for the day called for steady rain throughout, and it turned out to be exactly that — the worst possible conditions. We met at the building of the cruise ship terminal in Tempozan, exchanged brief greetings, and discussed the itinerary. I asked everyone once more for their thoughts, saying, "As forecast, it will rain steadily the whole time. Osaka Castle and Kuromon Market have roofs, so there is no problem sightseeing there, but walking between the destinations and touring Dotonbori will require umbrellas, so it will be sightseeing under very poor conditions. We could change to places unaffected by rain, such as an aquarium or a museum — what would you like to do?" The guests replied in unison that they wanted to sightsee as planned, so we set out using umbrellas and raincoats. Because I wanted to keep both hands free, I wore a raincoat the entire time, while the guests used plastic umbrellas. Since we used the subway for all transportation, we managed to stay dry for most of the travel, but the walks from the starting point to Osaka Castle, from Osaka Castle to the subway station, and from the subway station to Kuromon Market and Dotonbori were, without exaggeration, made in a downpour. Sightseeing at each location was fine inside buildings and in covered arcades, but only the main street of Dotonbori had to be toured in the rain. Even under these worst-case conditions, the guests listened well to my explanations, asked questions, and seemed to enjoy themselves. Usually in cases like this the schedule tends to fall behind, but this time we completed almost the entire itinerary as planned and were able to finish right on time at 5:00. (As for photos, I received consent to publish them, but due to the rain it was difficult to take pictures outdoors, so there was only a single snapshot taken at the covered Kuromon Market.)

Hi, everyone! I’m Norifumi Kamon, a government registered guide interpreter. Please call me “Nori”, or “Kamon-san”.
Let me introdece myself. I was born on April 17th in 1952 in Miyazaki prefecture in Kyushu island. I used to be an English teacher of Osaka Prefectural high school. When I retired from a teacher ten years ago, I decided to get a professional guide license. I wanted to play a role of the bridge between Japanese people and the people from all over the world as a second life of mine. After two years efforts, I finally got the guide license. Since then, I have guided several handreds of foreign people mainly in Kyoto and Nara for about five years except Corona Pandemic period. Almost all the tourists were deeply impressed by the beauty of nature, traditoin, culture, and art of Japan. I can surely help you enjoy and be satisfied with the sightseeing in Japan. And I’m looking forward to seeing you soon.

What Is a Private Ise Jingu and Mikimoto Pearl Island Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Due to the rain, we moved the start time earlier, which allowed the guests to observe the morning Higoto Asayu Omike ritual at the Outer Shrine (Geku) from 07:50 to 08:20, and they were very pleased. In addition to the main sanctuary within the Outer Shrine, the guests also visited the auxiliary shrines and smaller affiliated shrines. At the Sengukan Museum, they gained a deeper understanding of the Shikinen Sengu (the periodic rebuilding of the shrine) and of Jingu itself. At the Inner Shrine (Naiku), the guests worshipped at all the shrines within the sacred precinct, and I explained the origins of Jingu and the reasons why the Shikinen Sengu is carried out, responding to the guests' questions along the way. In the afternoon, as there was interest in the ama (traditional female divers), I guided the guests to Mikimoto Pearl Island. Although the rain limited our movements, I took care to ensure that the guests could spend the day comfortably.

    • 14:10 Farewell at Minatomachi Pier

What's a Private Cruise Excursion in Hakodate Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Because the cruise ship carried over 4,000 passengers, I anticipated difficulty with the meeting, but we were able to meet successfully at a surprisingly early hour. I knew in advance that another cruise ship would arrive at a different pier (Wakamatsu Pier at 9:20) that day, and heavy congestion was expected in central Hakodate (the Morning Market, Mount Hakodate, and Goryokaku), so I planned an itinerary and timing to avoid this effectively. The guests were from Europe, calm native German speakers, and I guided them in English with communication centered on one of the guests. They were a lovely group. To beat the crowds from the other ship's passengers, I arranged the order to visit the Morning Market and Mount Hakodate first, then Onuma, which they had wished to see for some time, and finally Goryokaku to enjoy the cherry blossoms. The weather was excellent and Onuma was a spectacular sight. However, it is a difficult area to find a place for lunch, and we ended up at an older eatery. I think the soba and nabeyaki udon were good, but honestly the ramen that I also had was a miss. There were no complaints, and the soba and udon seemed to be enjoyed. At Goryokaku, we avoided the tower and enjoyed explanations about the samurai along with the cherry blossoms. We had a little time to spare, and I suggested a quick visit to see the monkeys at the tropical botanical garden, but there was not quite enough time, and it also seemed to be an inconvenience for the driver, so we returned to the ship a little early. Since the ship's departure time had changed, I would have liked the guests to enjoy a bit more, but it was difficult for the driver. Throughout, I made an effort to guide them around Hakodate using video, music, explanations of the opening of Japan, and explanations about the samurai.

I’m certified guide speaking English and Spanish. I’m well experienced tour guide. My tour is always full of joy. I know Namahage, Onsen and alcoholic beverage verry well. I speak spanish too. I worked there for 5 years. My tour is always full of joy and smile. I was born in Hakodate, so naturally I know Hokkaido verry well including some special points too. I can tell you very special Samurai story, verry noce and local restaurants and verry typical atmosphere. I wait your kind offer. In my tour experiences, no one was unsatisfied. And if you want to ski, I’ll be happy to share a joy of winter spports.

What Is a Private Cruise Port Tour of Niigata Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Europe. They were fluent German speakers, so since neither of us was a native English speaker, our communication balanced out nicely (laugh). They arrived at Niigata East Port aboard the Spectrum of the Seas, sailing to and from Shanghai. The previous day's stop at Maizuru Port had been their first taste of Japan, Niigata was their second, and the following day's stop in Hakodate would be their final one in Japan this time, so their itinerary did not include the so-called typical destinations such as Tokyo, Osaka, or Kyoto. Many visitors arrive in Niigata after seeing plenty of castles, Japanese gardens, and shrines elsewhere, so it can be quite challenging to give guests in Niigata something truly memorable. This time, however, everything seemed to strike the guests as novel, and since their home region has no coastline, they were also moved by Niigata's seaside scenery, which made the work very rewarding as a guide. Also, since this tour was handled by a guide based in Tokyo, I would kindly ask that you continue to consider providing support for transportation costs.

Hello. I’m Kayoko. I’m registered as a National Licensed Guide Interpreter by Tokyo Metropolitan City Government.
I had been living in Yamagata City, 400 kilometers north up to Tokyo for 1 and 3 months, and now just have come back to Tokyo. I really enjoyed living in Yamagata.
My hobby is horse riding and playing some musical instruments such as piano, clarinet, euphonium and tuba.
Thanks to my riding experience, I had a special opportunity to do volunteer works at 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games in the equestrian venue in Tokyo.
I am also a certified kimono instructor and can help you dress in the traditional Japanese kimono.
I’m really looking forward to meeting you.

What Is an 8-Hour Private Tour of Miyajima and Hiroshima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Europe. Unfortunately it was a rainy and cold day, so I was concerned about their well-being, but the group was in good spirits and, undeterred by the cold and light rain, I believe they thoroughly enjoyed the 8-hour tour itinerary. At Miyajima, perhaps because of the rain, the morning hours were relatively uncrowded with sightseers, allowing us to leisurely appreciate the shrine, the surrounding facilities, and the natural scenery, which I feel made for a wonderful learning opportunity for us guides as well. Later, at the Peace Memorial Park, the guests asked many thoughtful questions, and I was deeply impressed by their sincere attitude.

    Welcome to Hiroshima.
My name is Hiroshi Tsuji, a licensed guide based in Hiroshima and Miyajima. My family has been connected to Miyajima for more than 300 years, and I am pleased to share the history, culture, and daily life of this unique island with visitors from around the world. Please feel free to call me Hiroshi.
With a background in outdoor sports—including rock climbing, scuba diving, and long-distance triathlons—I have completed several Ironman races abroad. I studied in Kyoto and later worked in management at a publicly listed company, which allowed me to live in many different regions of Japan and develop a deeper understanding of the country’s diverse culture and history.
In Hiroshima, I guide guests through the Peace Memorial Park, including the Atomic Bomb Dome, and share perspectives on the history of Hiroshima and modern Japan.
In Miyajima, I introduce Itsukushima Shrine, Mount Misen, the island’s beautiful scenery, and its local cuisine. As someone whose family has been connected to Miyajima for generations, I also enjoy sharing local insights and experiences that offer a more personal connection to the island’s culture and way of life.
I look forward to welcoming you to Hiroshima and Miyajima.
    Hiroshi

What's a Private Guided Tour of Hiroshima and Miyajima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a very friendly and lovely group visiting from North America. They had already visited major destinations such as Tokyo, Hakone, and Kyoto, and they shared many photos while telling me their impressions of Japan. In Hiroshima, they listened intently to explanations about the atomic bombing and what happened at that time, and they viewed the exhibits at the Peace Memorial Museum with great attention. On Miyajima, they remarked how beautiful the place was and thoroughly enjoyed the Great Torii Gate and Itsukushima Shrine. They were wonderful guests who flexibly accepted every suggestion I offered.
