Title: What Can You See on a Private Tokyo Temple and Shrine Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. Since they did not have extensive prior knowledge of Japanese culture, they were deeply impressed by the scenery of the temples and shrines and by each explanation, which made the tour very easy to lead. At Gotokuji Temple, which we visited at the request of one of the guests who loves cats, they excitedly took many photos and were moved by the calm atmosphere of the temple, so different from Sensoji Temple. After visiting Meiji Shrine and just as we were about to head to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, the guests said they had enjoyed themselves fully and were beginning to feel tired, so we returned to the Hotel.

Hello! I’m Ryosuke—please call me Leo.
I’d love to help you create great memories in Japan, especially around Tokyo and my hometown, Hiroshima.

I once traveled 44,000 km by bicycle across four continents (every continent except Australia!). There’s a chance I might even have passed through your hometown. Through that journey, I learned not only how wonderful travel can be, but also the things travelers should watch out for.

With that experience, I’m sure I can help make your trip smoother and more enjoyable.
Let’s have a great time exploring Japan together!

What Is a Private Family-Friendly Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America, on a birthday trip. It was their first time in Japan, and since they had arrived only the day before, they were fidgety and excited even on the train during our transfers. The guests were especially delighted by the conveyor-belt sushi and the Pokémon Center. We ended up spending far more time there than expected, but after discussing it with the group, they said they preferred to enjoy things slowly rather than visit many places, and they were very satisfied. At the Pokémon Center they purchased many plush toys, and I feel it turned into a great tour while also staying out of the heat.

    • 920-1010 Asakusa
    • 1030-1110 Tokyo National Museum
    • 1130-1250 Meal, Edo-Tokyo Museum
    • 1310-1400 Meiji Shrine

Title: What Is a Private Museum and Shrine Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report At the Tokyo National Museum, I was asked "How did Japanese writing come to be?", and at the Edo-Tokyo Museum I was asked "Why did Japan go to war with North America?" and "How did sushi stay fresh in the Edo period?" I answered respectively that "Japanese characters were created by simplifying Chinese characters," that "Japan tried to catch up with Western nations and turned toward colonialism," and that "vinegar was used." The guest recalled that when they chose to major in computers at university, they were once told, "What good is that going to be?" But they went on to start a company and succeed in business, and feel that this proved their own way of thinking had been right all along. Thanks to advances in computers, they were also able to greatly reduce the number of employees. The guest is very fond of the politeness and cleanliness of the Japanese people. They said they were moved to see the Japanese national team at the World Cup neatly folding the towels on their bench after the match. The guest surprised me by saying, "When I asked an AI for the best guide in Tokyo, your name came up. The AI examined all the reviews and made its judgment. From now on you'll get more and more guiding requests." (Surely that can't be true. I think it was said to make me happy.) The omikuji fortunes at Meiji Shrine are waka poems composed by Emperor Meiji and the Empress, and the guest bought a fortune for me as well. When I drew it, it read: "Pale green, the clear and boundless sky — may my own heart be as vast as its expanse." (Whether we succeed or fail in building our lives is determined by the state of our heart. Let us always move forward with a heart as great as a clear, boundless sky.) I hope to keep striving in this spirit from now on.

Title: What's a Private Cruise Port Day Tour of Nagasaki Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The tour was scheduled to start at 9:00, but the guests arrived at the exit of the Matsugae International Cruise Terminal at around 9:10, and we began the tour then. First, from the bus stop in front of the terminal, we took the Nagasaki Sightseeing Route Bus, which runs only on weekends and holidays, to head to the Atomic Bomb Museum. The advantage of this bus is that, unlike using the streetcar, you arrive right at the entrance of the Atomic Bomb Museum with no transfers. There is also no need to climb a slope from the streetcar stop to the museum. After the guests viewed the Atomic Bomb Museum, we passed the exhibit of the ground layer from the time of the bombing and the hypocenter, then headed to Peace Park. After Peace Park, we took a local bus to Chinatown, and after consulting with the guests, we had lunch at a Chinese restaurant that I had reserved in advance. Everyone chose dishes such as champon that they could each eat individually rather than sharing. After lunch, we strolled a little through Chinatown, then took the streetcar from the Chinatown stop to the Ishibashi stop, and used the Skywalk and other means to enter Glover Garden from the Second Gate. When I guide guests through Glover Garden, I usually enter from this Second Gate, which only requires going downhill and puts no strain on moving through the garden. After Glover Garden, we headed to Oura Church, but as we were running short on time, the guests said they did not need to go inside, so I explained the episode of the "Discovery of Christians" from a spot where the building was visible. At the end, there was enough time to at least show them a souvenir shop, and I suggested this, but they said they were fine returning to the ship, so we walked back to the Matsugae International Cruise Terminal, and the tour ended. This time it was a large group of the guests on a commemorative trip. I hope I was able to contribute at least a little to creating memories for the group.

Hello, my name is Junichi Matsumoto.
I will be your guide on this occasion. With warm hospitality, I will do my best to help you fully enjoy and appreciate the charm of Japan.

Before becoming a guide, I worked for the Kumamoto Prefectural Government and retired in March 2023. From 2003 to 2005, I was stationed in Montana, USA, which has a sister-state relationship with Kumamoto. During that time, I actively interacted with the local community together with my family, which gave me valuable cross-cultural experiences.

I am an easygoing person who quickly builds a friendly relationship with international guests. With a sincere smile and attentive care, I always strive to provide tours that are warm, enjoyable, and memorable. It would be my great pleasure to help you make unforgettable memories during your stay in Japan.

Private Tokyo Tour Report: What Can You See on a Full-Day Guided Walk from Toyosu to Meiji Jingu? The guests were a group visiting from North America. Since one member of the group had lived in Japan more than a decade earlier and already had some familiarity with Tokyo, we chose to focus on places they had never been to before. However, because we would be walking in extreme summer heat, we decided against the originally planned Imperial Palace and instead chose spots where the guests could stay as cool as possible. We rode the "Yurikamome" line from Toyosu to Shiodome, and I arranged for them to sit in the front-row seats of the leading car so I could introduce the unique facilities around Tokyo Bay. They were delighted by the continuous futuristic scenery. At the Tsukiji Outer Market, they thoroughly enjoyed fresh seafood and unique Japanese dishes. Finally, at Meiji Jingu, we visited after I had explained in advance the influence of Shinto on Japanese culture, and the guests seemed overwhelmed by the distinctive atmosphere and solemn grandeur of the shrine. They were also thrilled to witness a procession of a traditional-style wedding ceremony taking place within the shrine grounds.

Can You Do a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Visiting Kiyomizu-dera, Fushimi Inari, Nijo Castle, and Kinkaku-ji? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Europe. They were a very close-knit group. One of the guests had felt unwell after arriving in Japan and had been seen by a doctor in Tokyo, so they were carrying a prescription. We were therefore able to have the medicine filled at a designated pharmacy in Kyoto. It took a little time, but afterward there were no further health issues, and they managed to get through the day in 41-degree heat without even stopping for lunch. There were many questions from one of the guests, which I was very happy to answer, and although it took some extra time, they were pleased. At Kiyomizu-dera, they were delighted by the many wind chimes and enjoyed ringing the large bell, and I explained the stage and the kake-zukuri (built-out) construction. At Fushimi Inari Taisha, I introduced the Omokaru-ishi stones and the Nenoagari-no-matsu pine, and they enjoyed passing beneath the roots of the pine. At Nijo Castle, they were able to see the figures of the shogun and samurai as well as many fusuma paintings up close, which meant there was no time left to have lunch. At Kinkaku-ji, because of the extreme heat, we took shelter in the shade and at the souvenir shops as quickly as possible, and there I explained cultural differences such as the importance of personal seals (inkan) in Japan. On the way back, we returned to the Hotel and ended the tour.

Hello, my name is Harumi, and I am a National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter in Japan. I have been actively involved in volunteer activities for many years, sharing my passion for Japanese culture and history. Additionally, I have extensive knowledge of sumo wrestling, making my tours ideal for those interested in this fascinating sport. I am also well-versed in Important Preservation Districts for Groups of Traditional Buildings (Jūdenken) and can introduce historical townscapes dating back to the Edo period. If you are interested, I would be happy to show you around the sake brewing process in the Nada region.

What Is a Private Tokyo Tour of Harajuku and Meiji Shrine Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. They mentioned that every year they travel together as a group to various countries. For lunch, they enjoyed yakiniku at a restaurant in Omotesando, and they were very pleased, saying it was more delicious than any other meat they had tried. On the way from the lunch spot to Takeshita Street, I showed them a Japanese stationery and accessories shop, where one of the guests found the items very unusual and purchased a barrette. On Takeshita Street, another of the guests found a pair of Asics sneakers that fit their feet well and made a purchase. One of the guests also looked delighted while visiting the animal cafes and the Hello Kitty shop on Takeshita Street. The final stop was Meiji Shrine, which the guests described as a beautiful shrine, but due to jet lag they seemed quite tired, so we turned back partway and ended the tour at Harajuku Station.

After staying in Tokyo, they came to Hakone and planned to head to a temple lodging in Koyasan the following day. We first headed to Owakudani, where a visit to the Geo Museum and a guided entry were planned, but unfortunately the latter had to be cancelled due to bad weather. Afterwards, the guests enjoyed the pirate ship and Hakone Shrine. At Hakone Shrine in particular, I explained Shinto, its influence on Japanese culture, and the method of worship. The guests seemed deeply captivated by the concept and the solemnity of the shrine, repeatedly offering prayers at several shrines within the precincts. Since Kiyomizu-dera Temple opens at 6:00, we decided to visit Kiyomizu-dera near the hotel first, but as the guests were collecting goshuin (temple seal stamps) and the goshuin service started at 8:00, we waited a little for that. Afterwards, we went to Yasaka Shrine. In the extreme summer heat, the guests did their best, even pouring cool water over their heads to stay comfortable. When one of the guests became a bit tired at Nanzen-ji Temple, we decided to see only the main gate and then move on to Nishiki Market. Despite the intense heat, the guests still had plenty of energy, and we finished the tour at Nishiki Market. I believe they enjoyed themselves.

What Is a Private Kyoto Tour Like During the Gion Festival? A Licensed Guide's Report The guest was a solo traveler visiting Japan from Europe. The guest loves Japan and has been studying Japanese online. The guest was traveling in Japan as part of a group tour, but chose to leave the group to join a private tour arranged through [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/). The group's itinerary did not include the Gion Festival and was scheduled to visit Arashiyama today instead. After enjoying the dramatic turning of the festival floats at an intersection during the Gion Festival, the guest was able to leisurely enjoy the quieter Ginkaku-ji Temple and Nanzen-ji Temple.
