What Is a Private Hakone Day Tour Like from Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Europe. They had just arrived in Japan the previous day and came directly to Hakone from the airport. They showed particular interest in Hakone Shrine and asked many enthusiastic questions about topics such as the relationship between Shinto and Buddhism. They also had a strong interest in food, and at a local restaurant they were willing to try dishes with distinctive flavors such as eel and pond smelt, which they thoroughly enjoyed. As we had time to spare, we ended at Choanji Temple in Sengokuhara. In the cemetery at the back, the conversation grew lively, expanding from Japan's unique grave and burial customs all the way to the Imperial Family. It was very memorable how they remained enthusiastic and asked so many questions right until the end, making it a truly enjoyable tour.

Hello! I’m Ryosuke—please call me Leo.
I’d love to help you create great memories in Japan, especially around Tokyo and my hometown, Hiroshima.

I once traveled 44,000 km by bicycle across four continents (every continent except Australia!). There’s a chance I might even have passed through your hometown. Through that journey, I learned not only how wonderful travel can be, but also the things travelers should watch out for.

With that experience, I’m sure I can help make your trip smoother and more enjoyable.
Let’s have a great time exploring Japan together!

Title: What Is a Private Walking Tour of Sapporo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The weather was clear and ideal for a tour, though the high of 30°C was a little warm for Sapporo. Since the tour involved a considerable amount of walking, I proceeded while keeping an eye on the guests' condition. We took a break at Tanukikoji and had some ice cream, and the guests greatly enjoyed the Hokkaido ice cream. Partway through, likely due to the heat, one of the guests felt unwell and decided to return to the hotel. From there, the remaining guests and I visited Hokkaido Shrine. The guests said the Sapporo climate was very pleasant, but I felt that a walking tour after a long journey to Sapporo requires special caution, especially in summer.

I was born and raised in Hokkaido and have been a resident of Sapporo for over 30 years. I have been actively involved in guiding tourists around the scenic spots of Hokkaido, primarily focusing on Sapporo. Even before becoming a licensed interpreter guide, I engaged in volunteer activities to assist and guide foreigners, providing me with valuable opportunities to delve into the rich culture and history of Hokkaido.
Hokkaido is renowned for its exceptional culinary scene, and I am well-versed in gourmet information. I believe I can offer an excellent experience by guiding individuals through the highly acclaimed food experiences that Hokkaido has to offer.

What Is a Half-Day Private Nagoya Tour Like from Kyoto? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Oceania. They were staying in Kyoto for sightseeing and came from Kyoto to Nagoya by Shinkansen for a half-day guided tour before returning to Kyoto. Initially, the itinerary was planned to cover three sites: Nagoya Castle, Tokugawaen (a Japanese garden), and Oasis 21. However, from our prior communication, I sensed a strong interest in Japanese history and culture, so I proposed adding a visit to the Tokugawa Art Museum, which is located within the grounds of Tokugawaen. By moving smoothly between the sites, we were able to cover the entire itinerary including the Tokugawa Art Museum, and the guests were very pleased. Since I was told they would dine in Nagoya before returning to Kyoto, I introduced them to the restaurant area on the upper floors of the Takashimaya department store inside Nagoya Station, and then concluded the guided tour.

What's a Private Nara and Osaka Day Tour Like With Deer Feeding? A Licensed Guide's Report Today I guided a family group visiting from North America. The main focus was deer feeding at Nara Park, and since the group included a very young child, they requested a flexible schedule that could adapt to the child's condition. We began at Kasuga Taisha Shrine, where they met the calmer deer, and after visiting the Great Buddha Hall at Todaiji Temple, they enjoyed (?) feeding the rather aggressive deer near Todaiji. The Great Buddha Hall was not too crowded today, so they were able to enjoy it fully. Afterward, they enjoyed a conveyor-belt sushi restaurant in Dotonbori, which they had been looking forward to. The young child finished a whole bowl of udon. We then strolled around Dotonbori, but as time was limited and moving around in the heat was tiring, we viewed the beautiful Osaka Castle from the 10th floor of the Osaka Museum of History. I believe they were very pleased.

Thank you very much for choosing JGA experience, and please allow me to briefly introduce myself. I’m Kaeko Tanigawa, your tour guide, and I have been showing tourists from abroad around mainly in Kyoto, Nara and Osaka areas. Every year I’ve guided my guests through those areas for over 80 times. I always try to do my best to help my guests explore and enjoy our unique and attractive locations, and I’ve been lucky enough to receive so many 5-star reviews from the guests I hosted. I’d like to help make your visit to Japan one of the most wonderful memories in your life. I’m really looking forward to seeing you soon. Thank you very much.

Title: What's a Private Tsukiji and Asakusa Walking Tour Like in Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. Some of the guests were visiting Japan for the first time. Among the various options I suggested, they chose Tsukiji and Asakusa. At Tsukiji, they were amazed by the wide variety of food products on sale. They purchased a pack of dried flying fish stock (ago-dashi). In Asakusa, they enjoyed strolling along Nakamise-dori. Along the way, they had tapioca drinks and shaved ice. They asked me to guide them to a recommended lunch spot, so we parted ways in front of a yakiniku restaurant, and the tour came to an end.

A lot of foreigners are visiting Japan, but I would like them to think, “I am glad that I learned about Japanese culture and enjoyed it. I want to come again.” I want you to have a fun experience as well as to guide you to the standard sightseeing courses. I’m always trying to be able to guide like that. And I’m also looking for an Instagramable point that will be your memory. After graduating from university, I have been in Sapporo for 16 years, Osaka for 4 years, Sendai for 2 years, and Tokyo for a total of 12 years. But now, I’m mainly guiding in the Tokyo area due to living here. I especially love Ueno, Asakusa, and Kawagoe. They are cities where you feel the history and are full of people’s kindness. Please feel free to contact me, I want to meet you. Let’s have a fun day and envoy together!

Title: What's a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Meiji Shrine, Tsukiji, and Asakusa The guests were a group visiting from North America, with some in the group returning to Japan and others visiting for the first time. After Tokyo, they planned to continue to Mount Fuji, Kyoto, and Osaka. Communication beforehand had been somewhat limited and the itinerary could not be fully confirmed before the day of the tour, but the guests had thought it was confirmed and kindly apologized. One of the guests had a bright and cheerful manner, while the others were more reserved. The heat was intense and seemed a little hard on them, but they listened attentively to each explanation. At the souvenir shop at Meiji Shrine, some of the guests bought goshuincho (stamp books), so they were delighted to receive goshuin stamps after praying at the next stops, Namiyoke Shrine and Asakusa Shrine. At Tsukiji, they enjoyed tuna, shumai, wagyu beef, and eel. Since they had mentioned sweet potato sweets, I introduced a shop on Nakamise Street where they bought sweet potato pie. After the tour they wished to have meat for lunch, so I recommended a restaurant to them before we finished.

What Is a Private Kyoto Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Arashiyama and Kinkaku-ji The guests were a group visiting Kyoto. I received a message that breakfast was taking longer than expected and they might be slightly late, so I moved the tour start time back by 30 minutes. At Tenryu-ji, it was hot, so the guests took their time viewing the garden from the Hojo hall. By the time we went out into the garden it had clouded over a little, so it was not too hot, which was nice. The crape myrtle flowers were beautiful, and when I explained the meaning of the Japanese name, the guests were delighted. In the bamboo grove, it was cool whenever the wind passed through, and since it was not very crowded, we were able to walk at a relaxed pace. We walked through Kameyama Park to Togetsukyo Bridge, then stopped at a nearby shop for a short rest. After that, we took a taxi to Kinkaku-ji. The afternoon sun was strong and the guests seemed a little tired, so I kept my explanations brief and moved through the site fairly quickly. The guests wanted to return to their accommodation to rest for a while, so we took a taxi back to the Hotel and parted ways there.

Title: What's a Private Nara Day Tour Like in Summer? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Europe. Over lunch, they mentioned that they had arrived in Japan in August. I noticed a ring on their hand and offered my congratulations. They had been looking forward to feeding the deer with crackers at Nara Park, but as soon as they bought the crackers, the deer gathered around and finished them in no time. Although the guests had set aside plenty of time to enjoy feeding the deer, it ended sooner than expected. It was a hot day, reaching 35°C. After visiting Todai-ji Temple, we took a short break and then continued the tour from Nigatsudo Hall onward. For lunch, the guests enjoyed omurice. On the way back to the hotel, the guests wanted to withdraw some cash, so we stopped at a convenience store along the way.

I am Seizo Kamiuto, National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter (English). I was born in Kagoshima City in Kyushu (Southern part of Japan) and grew up there until the graduation from a high school. I came to Tokyo to enter a University in Tokyo and since then, I have lived in Tokyo for more than 40 years and therefore I know Tokyo and its suburbs and Kagoshima City very well. After retiring from an IT company, I have been working as a Guide Interpreter of English since March 2018. I have guided many overseas guests to the popular sightseeing spots in Tokyo, Kamakura, Mt. I can explain the history and the culture of Japan in detail. I look forward to an opportunity to guide you in Japan. Thank you. Seizo Kamiuto

What Is a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Meiji Shrine, the Imperial Palace, and Senso-ji The guests were a group from Oceania visiting Japan for the first time. They had already traveled to several countries in Europe before coming to Japan, and after sightseeing in Tokyo, they planned to return home the next day. At Meiji Shrine, they appeared to be deeply impressed by the quiet and solemn atmosphere, which was very different from Shibuya. They also purchased a protective amulet as a souvenir. At the Imperial Palace, they listened with great interest to historical explanations about the role of the Emperor, the Meiji Restoration, and the Edo Shogunate. At Senso-ji, they listened with interest to explanations about the differences between temples and shrines, as well as about Kaminarimon Gate. Since I accommodated the guests' wishes as requested, I believe they were satisfied.

Fuji area (Kawaguchiko Lake etc.), Hakone, Nikko, Yokohama, Kawagoe and Kagoshima and so on. I have received good reviews from many guests. I can explain the history and the culture of Japan in detail. I look forward to an opportunity to guide you in Japan. Thank you. Seizo Kamiuto

Tokyo: Meiji Shrine & Nezu Shrine

What Can You See on a Private Tokyo Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report on Meiji Shrine, Senso-ji, Yanaka, and Gotoku-ji The guests were friends visiting from North America. We shared many topics of conversation and enjoyed the tour from start to finish. Although they mentioned they were still experiencing jet lag right after arriving in Japan, they ended up staying very active throughout, without needing frequent breaks. At Meiji Shrine and Senso-ji Temple, they were impressed by Japan's unique religious sensibility, in which Shinto and Buddhism are intricately intertwined. They were also delighted to visit places beyond the usual well-known spots, such as Yanaka and Gotoku-ji, which they had not expected to see.
