What Can You See on a Private Tokyo Day Tour from a Cruise Ship? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests arrived by cruise ship and were visiting from North America. Their stay in Japan was effectively two days. They were interested in Japanese history and the Japanese language and had done some preparation beforehand, so the conversation flowed well along the way. At Koishikawa Korakuen Garden, an "Enjoying the Iris Flowers" event was being held from late May, and the guests appeared to enjoy it (photo). On Takeshita Street, one of the guests purchased souvenirs, and at lunch they liked the Jangara ramen, which was nice. On weekdays, the Shibuya Scramble Crossing often feels underwhelming to guests coming from large metropolitan areas, but for these guests it seemed to be more than enough excitement, and they let out cheers of delight.

Hello! My name is Hideki Maruyama. I was born in Osaka and raised in the Greater Tokyo area. I obtained my National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter Certificate in February 2016.
I spent 23 years working at a leading Japanese automotive company, including 7 years posted overseas. I then worked for a German premium automotive manufacturer for 13 years, followed by 6 years as an advisor to a British energy company. Through these roles at global corporations, I developed and refined key skills such as:
    1. Cross-cultural communication
    2. A deep understanding of business elites and affluent customers
    3. The ability to deliver impactful and impressive presentations in English
In addition to my regular duties, I often served as an interpreter for top executives during meetings with foreign government officials. I also had opportunities to introduce aspects of Japan—such as our national character and consumer preferences—to leadership teams in both the German and British companies.
As a tour guide, I’ve had the pleasure of guiding guests from a wide range of countries especially after the pandemic, including the US, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Norway, Romania, Slovenia, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, India, Hong Kong, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Argentina, Columbia, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Laos, Turkey, Jordan, Kenya and Israel.
When guiding, I always keep in mind to go beyond what guests can find on social media or ChatGPT. I believe my professional background allows me to offer unique insights, and I am encouraged when guests mention this in their reviews

What's a Private Day Tour of Marunouchi, Asakusa, and Ginza in Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Europe. Since it was their first time in Japan, they wished to see one new district and one old district of Tokyo, so I chose Marunouchi and Asakusa. We started at the Imperial Palace Outer Garden, then walked through Marunouchi while I explained the history of Edo, the Meiji Restoration, and the origins of Tokyo. One of the guests took a great liking to the Naka-dori area, and when I recommended some of my favorite Japanese clothing brands, they said they would come back later to shop at their leisure. After visiting Asakusa, I had planned to go to Tokyo Skytree, but as the weather was unfortunately poor, I decided to take them to Ginza instead. Before that, they kindly treated me to lunch, and we enjoyed a meal of soba and tempura together. Afterwards, I saw them off in front of Mitsukoshi in Ginza and we parted ways. They told me they had a wonderful time, and it was a great tour for me as well.

Hello! I am Kyoko who has been working as a guide since 2017. I was born in Kyoto. So, my name comes from Kyoto which is Japan’s beautiful ancient capital . And “ko” literally means child in Japanese. Thus, my name Kyoko means Kyoto’s child, Kyoko. But some guests call me Kyoto. It’s okay, not a big problem.
But to say the truth, I feel like this, ” Am I like an ancient person? No way~!!…” I am mainly guiding in and around Tokyo. Tokyo has two faces of well-advanced and old-fashioned. So, you can enjoy both high-tech technology and historical culture plus delicious food and drinks, too. You will surely be inspired in this city with me. Anyway, looking forward to meeting you in the near future. Thank you in advance!

Title: What Is a Private Tokyo Tour Like for Guests Visiting the Imperial Palace and Asakusa? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. During the tour, walking on the hard stone paths around the Imperial Palace appeared to be quite challenging for the guests. It would be helpful if there were a system to know in advance about the condition of guests arriving in Tokyo, as it would allow for better preparation. Would it be possible to improve this kind of arrangement as part of "barrier-free" measures? For lunch, I guided the guests to a vegan restaurant in Asakusa. After lunch, the guests mentioned that they were looking forward to enjoying Asakusa by rickshaw.

What Is a Private Full-Day Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Tsukiji, Asakusa, and Meiji Shrine The weather was good, and the guests enjoyed sightseeing. At Tsukiji, they spent a considerable amount of time exploring the outer market, were amazed by the fresh seafood, and asked many questions. At the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, I received quite a few questions related to civil engineering and construction, and while looking things up along the way, I managed to answer them. After Nezu Shrine, the guests said they wanted to have a relaxed meal, so I took them to a kamameshi restaurant, where they were delighted, saying this was what real Japanese food was like. As the guests seemed a little tired, we skipped Yanaka and Takeshita Street in Harajuku, and instead visited Asakusa and Meiji Shrine. Both were quite crowded, which surprised them. I escorted the guests to their Hotel, and the tour concluded. They had requested a two-hour extension in advance, and in the end it was extended by about one additional hour. A Licensed Guide's Report on Nijo Castle and Ryoanji The guests were a group of former university friends who came together from North America, South America, and Asia. They were very curious and asked many questions, exploring the sights actively. For lunch, they picked up bento boxes, sandwiches, salads, fruit, and yogurt at a supermarket near Nijo Castle and ate at the eat-in corner of the supermarket. The tour finished earlier than the scheduled guiding time. As they said they would return to their accommodation on their own, they asked to part ways at the bus stop in front of Ryoanji.

I am an experienced guide, who live in Osaka. I have been a Government-Licensed Guide in English since 2018. I have already guided a lot of tourists overseas in Kansai Area, that is, in the vicinity of my prefecture, Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Kobe, and Himeji. I am especially good at guiding in Kansai Area with sufficient knowledge of history, culture and transportation. I have guided people ranging from a small group of one or two to a group of 20-50 people in a big bus, that is, a coach. I like delicious food, because Osaka is a city of Kuidaorre, which means that people in Osaka love to eat and never spend too much money on food. Therefore, as an Osakan, I will do my best to explore restaurants which serve most delicious foods in wherever I take to my guests.

What Is a Private Guided Tour of Ise and Okage Yokocho Like? A Licensed Guide's Report I had the pleasure of guiding a very cheerful and enjoyable group who were former classmates. The guests were eager to learn and asked several questions, and they also answered the quiz I offered, making it feel almost like a school excursion. For lunch, the guests enjoyed Ise udon at a well-known restaurant in Okage Yokocho. One of the guests was very knowledgeable about the "Kojiki," and since my explanations are geared toward beginners or those less familiar with the subject, I wondered whether that guest might have found it a little dull. At the same time, it made me keenly aware of the challenges of guiding a larger group.

Hyogo in Half a Day: Himeji Station 2F Castle View & Harima Kokusosha

    Tour Itinerary

    • 11:45 Meet at Himeji Station
    • 11:50 Himeji Station 2F Castle View
    • 12:00 Egret Rooftop
    • 12:10 Himeji Castle
    • 14:20 Koko-en Garden
    • 15:10 Harima Kokusosha Shrine
    • 15:45 Dismissal

The guests preferred not to have lunch and did not take many photos, so the schedule progressed smoothly. Since the guests had plenty of energy and could walk as much as needed, it was very helpful. At Himeji Castle, the guests were amazed by the defensive features and repeatedly said "Amazing" at its beauty. As there was time to spare, I took the guests to the nearby Harima Kokusojinja Shrine. It is usually quiet and uncrowded, but a prayer ceremony happened to be taking place, so the guests were able to see the Shinto priest reciting norito prayers, the playing of instruments, and the shrine maiden's dance, which I think was wonderful. Since the shrine enshrines a deity, I explained the bronze horse statue and the ema votive plaques.

Hello! I’m Mariko. I have guided Himeji Castle 400 times for 14 years. I also guide Kokoen Garden and Mt.Shosha. I have lived in Himeji for 74years
That’s why I know everything ,good restaurants ,souvenir shops and the panoramic view a lot of local people don’t know.
I can also tell you anecdotes about Tom Cruise. Last Samurai filmed at Mt.Shoha.I worked as an English teacher at a junior high school on the bottom of the mountain.I have some anecdotes about Tom.For example he came there by a private pericoputer from Kobe, big city.Because our city doesn’t have any gorgeous hotels. I have learned tea ceremony for 14 years. So I would like to take you an authentic tea house in Kokoen Garden. You can enjoy Maccha, green powdered tea and wagashi, Japanese confectionery there.I am looking forward to seeing you!

What Is a Private Day Tour of Nikko Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The weather was fairly good, and although Mount Nantai was covered in clouds and not visible, there were no other issues with sightseeing, and the guests enjoyed the planned course. At their request, we hired a taxi for three hours at Tobu Nikko Station and visited Lake Chuzenji, Kegon Falls, and Kanmangafuchi Abyss. After getting off at Shinkyo Bridge, we had lunch, walked around the three shrines and temples, rested at Hongu Cafe, bought souvenirs, and walked back to the station. There was almost no water flowing down from the lake at Kegon Falls, which made it rather quiet, but the guests were amazed by the grandeur of the scenery. At Kanmangafuchi Abyss, they were delighted to see the beautiful gorge and took quite a lot of photos.

However, the guests were very energetic and continued the tour until I was the one to suggest that it was time to head back to the hotel. There was a request to buy a Giants cap as a souvenir, so I took the group to Tokyo Dome. It turned out there was a concert by an idol group, and the guests were very surprised to find the area filled with a large crowd. The guests remained energetic to the very end, approaching everything with curiosity and asking many questions, which I found inspiring. The iris field at the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace was about half in bloom, and I expect the coming week or so will be the best time to see it.

Hi, I am Nobu, a National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter (English).
I have been an English guide in Tokyo area since January 2017.
Tokyo is a wonderful city, and you may enjoy this city by yourselves.
Even so, I recommend you go around with a guide, especially if it is your first time visit to Tokyo.
A good guide will help you to understand about Tokyo and Japan as well as how to use convenient but complicated public transportations more effectively.
I am glad if I can help you to make your tour more enjoyable.
I am looking forward to meeting you in Tokyo soon!

What Is a Private Family Group Tour in Japan Like? A Licensed Guide's Report This booking involved some initial confusion, including changes to the meeting time, changes to the tour date, and difficulty communicating with the guests through the specified email address, which led me to ask for their email address via text message to begin our correspondence. However, the tour itself was with a friendly group who clearly got along well. It was a pleasure to accompany them on a tour they seemed to thoroughly enjoy, and I was able to guide them happily. Thank you very much.
