A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America on a trip to Japan, having arrived the day before and planning to visit Tokyo, Kyoto, and Hiroshima over a journey of about ten days. [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guide led a private walking tour centered on Shibuya, along with Meiji Shrine and Takeshita Street, as the guests had many places they wanted to see in the Shibuya area. The tour focused on Tokyo's modern sightseeing spots, with some shopping enjoyed along the way. The guests were very fond of animals, especially dogs, and purchased Hachiko-related goods and pet items. The tour ended just as we arrived in front of an animal cafe on Takeshita Street, and since the guests wanted to go inside, I explained how to return to the hotel and we parted ways there.

    Title: What Can You See on a Private One-Day Walking Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report The guest was a visitor from Oceania, visiting Japan for the first time. They had arrived a couple of days earlier. The day before, they had strolled around the Shinjuku area, and in the evening enjoyed dinner at a restaurant on the top floor of their hotel while taking in the night view of Tokyo. The main purpose of this trip to Japan was a 12-day cruise around Japan, starting the following day. Today, since one member of the group had sprained an ankle the previous night and stayed at the hotel, the tour proceeded with the other guest only. Although advanced in years, the guest walked around energetically throughout the day. There was a request to "visit as many places as possible, skipping lunch," along with a mention of a strong interest in architecture. It was a clear, sunny day for the tour. In the Akihabara electronics district, since a family member of the guest was a fan of Japanese anime, we walked around while taking photos of figures. There was a question about maid cafés: "What kind of place is this?" At the Imperial Palace, after walking a full loop of the East Gardens, we went to the Nijubashi Bridge. There were questions such as "Why did a castle site become the Imperial Palace?" and "What was the Edo period like?" There were also questions like "Does the Emperor really live inside here?" and "Does the Emperor hold political influence?" There was also a question: "Why did Tokyo become the capital of Japan?" We observed the Marunouchi South Exit of Tokyo Station and the interior of the Tokyo Station Hotel. There was a question, "Is this an Art Deco style building?" We strolled from Omotesando Station along Harajuku-dori. The guest commented, "There are many interesting buildings here. Very intriguing." At Meiji Shrine, there were questions such as "What is the purpose of the torii gate?" and "What kind of religion is Shinto? How is Buddhism different from Shinto?" Within the shrine grounds we came across a wedding procession and took photos. We moved to Shibuya. At the scramble crossing, there were comments such as "Why are there so many people here?" and "It seems there are many travelers?" We took a commemorative photo in front of the Hachiko statue. We strolled around the East Exit of Shinjuku. The guest commented, "This doesn't look like a Japanese town." There were comments such as "The city is so clean. There's no litter on the ground," "There are no trash bins on the streets," "On the subway, everyone lines up quietly and politely at the doors," and "The public restrooms are clean and pleasant." Being quite tall, the guest also mentioned, "While traveling on the subway, I need to watch out for ceiling heights in some places." I saw the guest off at Tochomae Station, where we parted ways.

    Since I have been mainly involved in the financing business in the United States for a long time, I think I am able to provide interpretation and translation services related to business and finance.
    I am a certified CPA in the United States.
    In addition, for three years from April 2016, I will be engaged in Japanese-English translation work (part-time), and I can also handle translation work.
    Although I don’t have a qualification in Spanish, but I think I can handle day to day conversation in Spanish without any problems.
    My hobby is trekking and from time to time, take a walk around mountains near Tokyo like Mt. Takao, Tanzawa, etc. I think it is possible to provide tourist information here as well.

    Title: What Is a Private Day Tour from Tokyo to Nikko Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan for the first time from North America, traveling with [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/). They had arrived in Japan a couple of days earlier, and the day before the tour they had explored the Asakusa area, Tokyo Skytree, and Ginza. They were on a trip to Japan lasting about a week and a half. From the next day they planned to travel to Hakone, Mount Fuji, Kyoto, and Osaka, returning home from Kansai Airport via Haneda. One of the guests' relatives had long worked in the automotive industry, and it was on that relative's strong recommendation — "If you go to Japan, you must visit Nikko" — that the group decided to include Nikko in their itinerary. Two of the guests had nut allergies. It was a cloudy day, but we were not caught in any rain. We traveled to Nikko on the "Spacia" train and returned on the ordinary "Liberty Kegon." During the ride, I explained the history of Edo and Tokyo, Tokugawa Ieyasu and the Tokugawa shogunate, the history of Nikko Toshogu, the period of national isolation, the Meiji Restoration, and the system of alternate attendance (sankin-kotai). After arriving at Tobu-Nikko Station, we took a bus to the West Approach entrance. From there, we leisurely visited Toshogu and Rinnoji. Along the way, there were many groups of elementary and junior high school students on their visits. The guests asked many questions, such as "What is the purpose of a torii gate?", "What kind of religion is Shinto? How does it differ from Buddhism?", and "Why is there a five-story pagoda at Toshogu as well?" There were also questions such as "What is goma, the fire ritual?" As for the "Three Wise Monkeys" and the "Sleeping Cat," they had read about them beforehand and were well acquainted with the stories. Since the guests mentioned they had not had breakfast that morning, we stopped for lunch at a teahouse near the West Approach bus stop. They enjoyed "katsu curry," "sansai soba," and other dishes. Afterward, we visited Futarasan Shrine and Taiyuin, and then walked to Kanmangafuchi Abyss. "The flow of the river is beautiful," and "I love walking along paths like this," they said, taking photos here and there while strolling slowly. We then walked to the Shinkyo Bridge. At the Shinkyo Bridge as well, the guests eagerly took photographs from various angles (photography being a favorite hobby of one of the guests). From the Shinkyo Bridge we took a bus to Tobu-Nikko Station. On the return journey, perhaps out of fatigue, everyone slept soundly. They shared comments such as "I was amazed by the crowds in Asakusa," "Everywhere in the city is clean and tidy, with no litter," "There are no homeless people," "The public toilets are clean and pleasant to use," and "I was surprised by how many people appeared to be office workers in suits and ties." After arriving at Tobu-Asakusa Station, we parted ways.

    What Is a Private Himeji Castle Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Today's guests were visiting Japan for the first time from North America. After meeting in front of the central ticket gate at Himeji Station, we visited the Castle View spot, Himeji Castle, Koko-en Garden, souvenir shops, the rooftop of Egret Himeji, and the Ryuriki shop, before parting ways in front of a restaurant the guests had requested. By the time we met, the morning rain had already stopped, it was not particularly hot, and it was not particularly crowded, so we were able to tour Himeji Castle and Koko-en Garden smoothly. The guests were enthusiastic about souvenirs and shopped at two souvenir stores. They also seemed to enjoy the view of Himeji Castle from the rooftop of Egret Himeji and eagerly took photographs. At the tasting corner on the first floor of Egret Himeji, they enjoyed local sake as well. Today's guests made effective use of all of the tour time. I believe they thoroughly enjoyed today's Himeji tour.

    Title: What's a Private Walking Tour of Nara Park and Todai-ji Like? A Licensed Guide's Report It rained from the morning, but fortunately the rain had stopped by the time I met the guests, and we set off on foot toward Nara Park. Walking while watching the deer in Nara Park, we continued to a park near the Nara Prefectural Office, where the group enjoyed feeding the deer. The whole group had a wonderful time feeding the deer, and the atmosphere was very lively. After that, I guided them to Himuro Shrine, where I translated the "ice fortune slips" (kori omikuji), which they thoroughly enjoyed. After talking a little about Shinto, we moved on to the Buddhist temple Todai-ji. On the way, they took photos in the beautiful gardens within Nara Park, and then we moved to the Nandaimon Gate, where I introduced the enormous Nio guardian statues before heading to the Great Buddha Hall. However, since some of the guests were beginning to tire and grow a little restless, I had to guide them through the Great Buddha Hall at a slightly quicker pace. We then moved to Yumekaze Hiroba for lunch, where everyone in the group had ramen and seemed very satisfied, and I was relieved to see the group settle down. Finally, I took the guests to the Nara Visitor Center, where they folded paper cranes. Since I had heard that they would be visiting the Peace Park in Hiroshima two days later, I arranged for them to enjoy making paper cranes. At the end, the guests thanked me and said it had been a fun day, and we parted ways at Kintetsu Nara Station.

At Sumiyoshi Taisha, they picked up the small "Go-Dai-Riki" (Five Great Powers) pebbles, a popular spiritual spot, and also purchased many amulets. Since we had time to spare, I guided them to Doguyasuji and Kuromon Market in Namba, which were not part of the original plan, and they were delighted. At Doguyasuji in particular, they wanted to buy a kitchen knife, and since they planned to return either today or tomorrow, they obtained the shop's business card. Some of the guests also purchased an Osaka-style T-shirt at Doguyasuji and seemed very satisfied. In Dotonbori, they enjoyed buying soft-serve ice cream from a Turkish-style performance stand. We parted ways once I had guided them to Osaka Castle (they said they would tour it on their own). This group seemed to be great fans of Japan, and I truly enjoyed guiding them.

    I would like to warmly welcome you to Japan this time. I am from the city of Kobe, which is of course, well-known for very tasty Kobe Beef . You can taste
    real genuine Kobe Beef here. Kobe is also called “Home of Japanese Sake” with lots of Sake breweries, and I recommend you would visit those breweries
    if you have any interest in Japanese Sake as well as one aspect of Japanese cultures. Of course, you can have tastings of various kinds of Sake there.

    Whenever during the tour, I always try to make it safe, pleasant and comfortable for all of the guests, which is my first priority. I am very much confident
    that you can have a pleasant and unforgettable experience in Japan. Just tell me about your preference; what you would like to like to see, have, know
    and eat and so on. Particularly, I hold the license for cooking qualified by the government here and maybe, I can reply you for questions related to the
    foods here. In this respect, I strongly recommend you would try not only famous Japanese cuisine such as Sushi, Tempura or Suki-yaki but some
    Japanese traditional local foods, like Tako-yaki, Okonomi-yaki and Kushkatsu. They are sometimes called the soul foods of Japan. Here is the brief
    explanation for these three foods.

    1) Tako-yaki
    Tako-yaki is a snack filled with pieces of octopus in a batter of flour , egg and soup stock. You can call them octopus dumplings or balls. “Tako” means
    octopus and “yaki” means grilled or broiled.
    2) Okonomi-yaki
    This word Okonomi-yaki means “cook just as you like” and you can use whatever you like as toppings, such as beef, pork, shrimp, squid and octopus.
    Okonomi-yaki is round shape and just like pancakes or pizza in shape mainly made from egg, flour and water.
    3) Kushi-katsu
    Kushi-katsu is skewered cutlet or deep-fried foods on a stick. “Kushi” means skewer and “katsu” means cutlet. Various kinds of foods are used for
    ingredients such as beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, squid, octopus and lots of kinds of vegetables.

    Actually, the western Japan including Osaka, Kobe and Himeji is called as “Home of such local soul foods”. You should give it a try and I am sure
    that you like them very much.

    Can You See Tokyo's Quiet Spots, Old Town, and Business Districts in One Day? A Licensed Guide's Private Tour Report The guests were a friendly group from Oceania. They shared that they really enjoyed being able to see so many different sides of Tokyo in a single day, including quiet spots, the old town, and business districts. There was a plan to use a taxi if needed, but they were able to get around by train the entire time without any problem. At Funawa in Asakusa, they tried lemon and orange sweets and enjoyed them very much. At Kameya they bought a boxed set of senbei rice crackers, and at a bag shop they purchased two pochette bags as souvenirs and three inden pouches. For lunch they said they wanted to have tempura or ramen, so we looked at some promising restaurants along the way. At "Tenzai" there were already two parties waiting, but they decided to wait as well. After about 20 minutes, they were able to enjoy reasonably priced and delicious tempura, so they were very satisfied. Before heading to the Imperial Palace, I took them to Tokyo Station as a photo spot, and they said it was great because they could also check the station where they would later catch the Shinkansen on their own. Since they did not have PASMO or Suica cards, we bought tickets at each station, and I explained the process so they could do it themselves.

    What Is a Private Tokyo Day Tour with a Licensed Guide Like? Tsukiji, Asakusa, and Harajuku Report The guests were an energetic group despite having arrived the previous day. At Tsukiji, some of the guests kept saying how delicious the eel and the strawberry candy were. At the Nakamise shopping street in Asakusa and Takeshita Street in Harajuku, they carefully selected their own souvenirs. For lunch they each ordered tendon, a seafood rice bowl, and yakitori, and one of the guests enjoyed two glasses of Super Dry beer. Japanese beer seems to be very much to their liking. They were pleased to be able to purchase a one-day subway pass together with a new IC card. When I suggested a few places to visit after the tour, they showed interest in Shibuya Parco and the Pepper Cafe.

    Title: What Is a Wheelchair-Accessible Private Tour of Otaru Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan on a cruise trip from Europe. Since I had not been informed in advance about accessibility needs, I discussed the itinerary with the guests when we met. Because I wanted to choose places that were easy to reach and to avoid spots crowded with large groups, I guided [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guests to a small museum in Otaru. After strolling along the canal, we took a taxi to the Tenguyama Ropeway. One of the guests wished to buy ceramics, and although Otaru is known as a city of glass, we found a craft shop where they purchased many pieces of pottery by local artists. The guests also wanted to enjoy delicious sushi, so I made a reservation at a small sushi restaurant I often use. The guests said it was the most delicious food they had eaten in Japan, and they were very satisfied with the attentive service, including staff helping with wheelchair movement and calling a taxi.

    What Can You See on a Private Day Trip from Kyoto to Nara? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting from North America. They mentioned they needed to return to their hotel by 17:00 to head to a restaurant they had reserved, so the itinerary was planned by working backward from that time. The route was as follows: Hotel (Nijo area) → boarded the Kintetsu line toward Nara → Yakushiji Temple → Kofukuji Temple and the National Treasure Museum → light meal (Kakinoha-zushi Tanaka) → Kasuga Taisha Shrine → Todaiji Museum → Todaiji Daibutsuden (Great Buddha Hall) → Kintetsu limited express toward Kyoto → parted ways at Nijo Station. We visited two museums, and the guests were fascinated that ancient objects had been preserved (since it was Nara, especially items from the 8th century). Through their travels so far (they mentioned they had also visited Kanazawa, Shirakawa-go, and Takayama), they praised the beauty and cleanliness of Japan. Since they had scheduled an early dinner, they enjoyed kakinoha-zushi as a light meal in place of lunch, saying "oishii" (delicious) in Japanese as they ate. At the highlight, the Rushana Buddha, they were overwhelmed not only by its actual size but also by the fact that this had been accomplished in the 8th century.
