Title: Can You Do a Private Day Trip from Osaka to Nara? A Licensed Guide's Report Since the guests were traveling to Nara from a hotel in Osaka via the JR Yamatoji Line, I boarded the same train at Horyuji Station to meet them. This allowed me to start introducing Nara while still on the train, which helped the itinerary go smoothly. Playing with the deer took more time than expected, so in the end we ran considerably over the planned schedule. But since the guests were very pleased, I felt it was well worth it. The guests were all strong walkers, so even when it meant taking a longer route, I was able to choose paths that avoided the crowds as much as possible. The guests were from Oceania, and their unpretentious, easygoing nature made me appreciate guiding them even more.

Hello! Thank you for choosing Nara! I bet you’ll love Nara. I specialize in Nara because Nara is the unique place where in one day you can cover the history and religions of Japan from the ancient times to the post war era while enjoying rambling in the UNESCO World Heritage park, having communication with lovely deer, surrounded with the beautiful nature.
I grew up in Nara, went university in Kyoto, enjoyed teaching at high schools and a university in Osaka. The three former capitals of Japan are home to me.
After retiring from teaching I began guiding so that I can meet various people from various corners of the world with a variety of cultures and backgrounds. Each time I guide, I find it hugely rewarding because I learn a lot from my guests sharing the history, culture and all that I know about Nara, Kyoto and Osaka.
I used to be a marathon runner, mountain climber and skier though I am not much of them anymore.
What I especially recommend is to stay in Nara a couple of days and enjoy communicating with friendly deer while visiting UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Nara in early morning, temples and shrines at night are well worth experiencing.

What Is a Full-Day Private Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a senior group from Oceania who had just arrived in Japan the day before. At the start, they asked how to exchange a subway free pass and a JR Pass in Japan. We tried to complete the subway procedure at the Ginza Line counter, but they had forgotten the password they had registered, so in the end they used Japanese yen for public transportation. I also took them to the JR Pass counter, but since they had not brought their passport, I explained the procedure for them to use from the next day onward. These matters took a little over an hour, so the tour started after that, and I saw them back to their hotel as requested, running from 8:30 in the morning until 16:00. Even so, both of them were very pleased, including with each of the sightseeing spots, so I feel it went well.

    Hello, I’m your guide Yasu.

I’m very happy to be able to help you experience Japanese culture, traditions, tourist attractions, and Japanese food.

I have guided tours of Tokyo’s sightseeing spot such as Asakusa, The Imperial Palace, and Meiji Shrine.

I have also guided tours in the surrounding areas of Nikko and Hakone to experience Japanese nature and culture.

I also specialize in food tours in the Tsukiji and Ueno areas of Tokyo.

As for my background, I worked at a major Japanese department store for many years, and from that experience I have knowledge of Japanese art, paintings, and crafts.

In addition, in my free time, my hobby is visiting resorts with my family that are not tourist spots, and I am able to introduce such hidden resorts even to customers who have stayed in Japan multiple times.

I would be happy to share my experiences with you and help you have a meaningful travel experience.

Let’s go exploring the real Japan together.

    Kind Regards,
    Yasu Komatsu

    • Hotel → Kenrokuen Garden → Kanazawa Castle Ruins Park → Sakuda Gold Leaf → Higashi Chaya District → Shima → Kazuemachi Chaya District → Omicho Market

What Is a Private Walking Tour of Kanazawa Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests enjoyed both Kenrokuen Garden and the castle ruins park. Inside Kenrokuen Garden, they visited the Ishikawa Museum of Traditional Arts and Crafts, where they were moved by the beauty of the crafts and did a lot of shopping at the museum shop. At Kanazawa Castle Park, they were fond of the Gyokusen'inmaru Garden and took many photographs there. Afterwards, at a gold leaf workshop, they observed the process of making gold leaf. In the Higashi Chaya District, they visited Shima and asked many questions about the system of the geisha world. They also strolled through the Kazuemachi Chaya District and thoroughly enjoyed the unique atmosphere of Kanazawa.

Title: What's a Private Walking Tour of Tokyo Tower and Asakusa Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Oceania. When we met, they said they wanted to see Tokyo Tower, so (although Yanaka had been agreed upon in advance as the plan) we made a sudden change. We got off at Hamamatsucho and walked while viewing Tokyo Tower. Along the way, we strolled through Zojoji Temple. It was a pleasant day for walking, and the guests seemed (surprisingly) impressed by the spaciousness of Zojoji Temple. After that, they saw Tokyo Tower and learned about the scale of Tokyo and how Tokyo Tower was built during Japan's postwar recovery, which they found very memorable. We then moved on to Sensoji Temple, but due to the crowds at Kaminarimon and a sudden rise in temperature, they said just taking photos would be enough, so we returned to the Hotel earlier than planned. Even so, the guests seemed pleased that a private walking tour, taken in the midst of a group bus tour, allowed them to spend time at their own pace.

Your tour guide Kappa is my nickname. Kappa is a traditional, imaginary creature who came into being in Japan over 300 years ago. She is good at swimming, like me, for I like swimming. I would like to make our tour operated smoothly as Kappa does when she swims in the river or pond. It is my pleasure to introduce many aspects in our tour, especially cooking, for it is my hobby and I went to the professional cooking and SAKE school, respectively. If you have any questions or requests about Japanese cooking, of course our tour, I am very delighted to answer to you anytime!

Can You Do a Private Tokyo Day Tour Covering Meiji Shrine and Asakusa? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group of friends visiting Japan. Some of them had traveled to Japan quite a while ago. They said they had joined this tour because everyone who had visited Japan told them that Japanese people are kind, the towns are clean, and the food is delicious. There was a small incident when a cashmere sweater was lost at Meiji Shrine, but fortunately it was found, which was a great relief. The guests were delighted by the beauty of Meiji Shrine, enjoyed the atmosphere of Nakamise Street in Asakusa, and had a wonderful time shopping and eating ice cream. Since their dinner reservation was in Asakusa, we ended the tour there.

    Tour Itinerary

    • 8:40 Hyatt meeting. Via cable car to Sounzan Ropeway, Owakudani. By ropeway from Togendai, then pirate ship to Hakonemachi Port.
    • At 15:10 Lake Ashi, after feeding the carp, at Maruyama Bussan we watched a demonstration of the puzzle box (karakuri box), then bought souvenirs. Next, at the Hakone Open-Air Museum cafe we had lunch, then toured and played inside the park. The children were so excited they wouldn't want to leave. Their faces flushed and drenched in sweat, at 15:10 we were picked up by the Hyatt shuttle car and disbanded at the Open-Air Museum. It was a fun day.

What Is a Private Hakone Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Owakudani, Lake Ashi, and the Hakone Open-Air Museum Fortunately, the weather was excellent, and the tour focused on keeping the group active throughout the day. At Owakudani, the group was very satisfied with the view of Mount Fuji and the famous black eggs. From the ropeway, the group was captivated by the sight of Mount Fuji and the natural scenery, and on the pirate ship they were absorbed in taking photos on board. At Hakonemachi Port, the group enjoyed a fun experience feeding the carp. At Maruyama Bussan, the group fulfilled a long-held wish by trying to open a puzzle box themselves and purchasing the real item. At the final stop, the Hakone Open-Air Museum, the group had a wonderful time at the play area, becoming flushed and covered in sweat with excitement. The puzzle box had been something they looked forward to even before coming to Japan, making it a delightful day that the group thoroughly enjoyed.

What Is a Private Guided Tour of Koyasan (Mount Koya) Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests came for sightseeing at Koyasan (Mount Koya). They arrived a little late for the meeting, and since it was a busy Saturday with many tourists, the Kongobuji Temple parking lot became full around 11:00. We exchanged emails and arranged for them to park at the Reihokan Museum about one kilometer away, so I moved there and we started the tour from the Garan complex. After visiting Kongobuji Temple, the parking lot was still full, so we walked to a restaurant. After visiting the Daimon Gate, we returned to the Reihokan Museum parking lot and moved to the Nakanohashi parking area within Okunoin. The group was very interested in Koyasan and had researched information on their own, so they listened attentively to my explanations. One of the guests was collecting goshuin temple stamps and received them at both Kongobuji Temple and Okunoin. The guests were eager to see as much as possible at Koyasan, and even after the late start and excluding meal time, I guided them for four hours without charging any extension fee as a courtesy.

Title: What Is a Private Day Trip from Osaka to Koyasan Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Some of the guests needed to stop and catch their breath from time to time, and climbing stairs was difficult. Our departure was delayed, but we just barely made the 8:40 limited express train. The Hotel was a five-minute walk to the Midosuji Line subway, but from there it was more than ten minutes to Nankai Namba Station—a distance that would be no problem for most people, but reaching the train bound for Koyasan coincided with rush hour and proved to be a challenge. On the Nankai line we were able to use the limited express Koya, which had restrooms and vending machines on board, so it was perfect for meeting the guests' needs. (I have attached an image of the reserved seat ticket for only my own portion to the invoice.) Since much of the sightseeing so far had been in urban areas, the guests enjoyed the natural and solemn atmosphere of Okunoin and took many photos. Some of the guests decided to sit and wait near the bridge in front of the mausoleum while the rest visited the mausoleum. The restaurant was conveniently located near the Nakanohashi entrance within Okunoin, and from there we were able to catch the bus in front of the Kondo, which took us to the front of the central gate of the Garan. The guests were delighted to see high school students rehearsing dances and performances inside the Kondo for the June festival celebrating the birth of Kobo Daishi. From the veranda of the Kondo we viewed much of the Garan, and we went down to visit the places they particularly wanted to see. As they did not have the stamina to walk to Kongobuji, we decided not to visit it and instead took the bus in front of the Kondo back to Koyasan Station. For the return, they preferred a train without the 790-yen reserved seat charge, and since the Tenku train has non-reserved seating that can be used as a limited express with no extra fee, I got off first to secure seats for the group. After arriving at Namba, some of the guests decided to return to the Hotel by taxi, while another wanted to take photos and shop at "Donguri Republic" for a family member but was unsure of the location, so I searched for it online, took them there, and afterward escorted them to the Hotel. The guests were pleased to be able to visit "Donguri Republic," as their movements had been somewhat limited otherwise. This was outside the tour course but offered as a service. Despite various constraints, I was able to successfully realize what the guests wanted to see and do, which made this a rewarding experience as a guide.

What Can You See on an 8-Hour Private Tour from Yokohama? A Licensed Guide's Report Since the guests had arrived in Japan the previous night and were boarding a cruise ship the next day, they requested to see as many spots as possible, so I guided them along the itinerary above. For lunch, I recommended a sushi restaurant in Asakusa, which they enjoyed. Overall, I believe the guests were satisfied with the tour. That said, an 8-hour tour with an 8:30 pickup in Yokohama is physically demanding, so I would prefer to avoid such arrangements in the future.

Hi, I am Nobu, a National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter (English).
I have been an English guide in Tokyo area since January 2017.
Tokyo is a wonderful city, and you may enjoy this city by yourselves.
Even so, I recommend you go around with a guide, especially if it is your first time visit to Tokyo.
A good guide will help you to understand about Tokyo and Japan as well as how to use convenient but complicated public transportations more effectively.
I am glad if I can help you to make your tour more enjoyable.
I am looking forward to meeting you in Tokyo soon!

What Is a Private Koyasan (Mount Koya) Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests had booked well in advance and had been looking forward to the Koyasan (Mount Koya) tour. It was a short course starting in front of Okunoin, but they enjoyed the atmosphere of Okunoin and took many photographs. Around midday the restaurants were crowded, but since a reservation had been made, we were able to have our meal smoothly, and the following bus connections went well too, so we were able to visit the Garan complex and Kongobuji Temple in a short amount of time. One of the guests was interested in esoteric Buddhism and asked questions about the differences between religion and Shinto. Since they seemed a little anxious about the connections on the way back, I accompanied them until they transferred to the Namba-bound train at Hashimoto Station.

Hi! I’m an official English guide in Wakayama prefecture. I’m also a national guide as well. I’d like to expand my guide area to help tourists.
The town of Osaka offers a different atmosphere than Tokyo. I like both exciting Osaka and nature-filled Wakayama Prefecture.
If you stay in Osaka for 3 days, you can go to Koyasan for one day, or even for a day trip, so I recommend sightseeing at Koyasan.
If you are tired of the hustle and bustle of the big city, the nature of Koyasan will relax you.
I will introduce you to the unique culture, history and must-see sights.
