Hiroshima tour—Excellent experience even in the heat!

Yesterday we four had the pleasure of touring Hiroshima with Mishi! Not only was she an excellent guide (speaks English very well), she went above and beyond to hire a driver at the last minute due to our concerns about the extreme heat (95 degrees). Honestly, the addition of a dedicated car/driver was a splurge ($380) but made the day SO much more enjoyable. We started at the Hiroshima Peace Museum/Memorial, walked the monument area to the Atomic Bomb dome before stopping for lunch at a GREAT ramen restaurant she recommended. Afterwards we drove to the ferry dock for the 10min ride to Miyajima. What a beautiful island! If you missed the deer at Nara, you can enjoy them here. Try some ice cream-yummy! The ride back to the cruise ship was a welcomed AC experience which saved a lot of time compared with other options. Michi navigated us to convenience stores when we needed a break from the heat and some cold drinks.

Visiting Hiroshima is such a moving experience. You can’t help but feel the devastation caused by war. I’m thankful we had such a great tour and guide so we could appreciate it to its fullest.

Half day tour to Peace Memorial.

Michi was an excellent guide, making sure that things went well. She met us at the terminal with her checkered flag. After a quick discussion she managed to find a van which would take us to the peace memorial and back instead of using 2 separate taxis. This kept our group together and was less expensive.
At the museum she spoke with the staff so we could store 2 children strollers while we went thru museum.
All throughout she provided info about the city, pointed out exhibits in the museum we should pay attention to.
As a citizen of Hiroshima, she stressed the theme that we should not let another Hiroshima happen. After going to thru the museum, we all felt we should work towards this goal.
I would recommend this tour and Michi as a guide.

Great Half Day with Shin!
Viator review: Miyajima Half-day Private Tour with Government Licensed Guide
We enjoyed our half day tour to Miyajima from Hiroshima with our private guide, Shin, a professional guide with Japan Guide Agency, in November 20. He met us at our hotel, which was next to the train station, then escorted us to the train and then to the ferry over to Miyajima. Lots of wild deer strolling about here but not as tame as those in Nara-avoid feeding them! Our first stop after brief walk from the ferry was the famous Torii gate that stands in the water. We were not there at low tide so we could not walk out to it but were happy just seeing and it (and posing for pictures. Our guide offered to take many photos for us). We also visited the Itsukushima Shrine and learned about the different buildings and uses of the Shrine and observed a bride and other traditions. We also walked through the peaceful and beautiful Momijidani Park and learned how to get to the Miyajima Ropeway to get to the top of the mountain for great views. Our guide showed us around to see the Senjokaku Shrine area, and some of the Omotesando Shopping Arcade, where we had a snack and parted ways at the end of our half day together, as we opted to stay in and explore further. Shin made dure we knew how to get back to the ferry and train. We had an excellent walking tour and appreciated our time together. Thank you Shin! Highly recommended! (Not as part of the tour, we took the Ropeway and spent some time enjoying the ride and views from up high, thanks to Shin’s directions. Worth doing if you have time! It was a beautiful day!

We had a lovely visit of Hiroshima and Miyajima. Our guide, Shin-san, was outstanding. He was very knowledgeable and was able to relate cross-culturally to many of our queries. We started off by taking the ferry to Miyajima at high tide. While it was rainy we managed to have a good tour of the Itsukushima shrine. Shin-san then took us to the Daishoin temple where we spent a considerable amount of time. We then did a nature walk and had a brief tour of the town area before hopping on the ferry back to the main land. Shin-san then took us to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Museum.

Andy(Atsushi) was great and communicated with us beforehand about our itinerary. He was flexible with changes we requested. Andy was very informative during the tour. He also was willing to take our family’s pictures. We were able to stop and check out shops as we pleased along the way. He also accommodated lunch requests(as our daughter has food allergies).
One thing I wish we realized was that there is quite a bit of walking. We were fine but for people who are perhaps older or with young children you may want to consider taking a cab between different sites.

Pleasant Intro to Tokyo
Nobu was an experienced and informative guide. It was a great introduction to Tokyo – a busy and vastly interesting city. We learned about Japanese history and toured some of the major sites including the Imperial gardens, a Buddhist temple, a Shinto shrine, and the bustling Shibuya Crossing. Nobu helped us get familiar with the subway system and explained some of Japanese cuisine. We greatly enjoyed our tour and recommend it to others!

We had an amazing day exploring Tokyo with Michio as our guide. He was incredibly knowledgeable, providing great historical background on each site and using his personal tablet to visually enhance our understanding. His English was excellent, and he clearly explained the cultural differences between temples and shrines, making the experience even more meaningful.

Our driver, Nobuhiko, was equally impressive—always finding safe and convenient drop-off and pick-up points close to each attraction. Together, they made the day flow seamlessly.

Michio thoughtfully adjusted our itinerary to avoid traffic and kindly delayed our lunch at our request to miss the noon rush. Every detail was handled with care and professionalism.

Highly recommend Michio and Nobuhiko for anyone looking for a well-organized, informative, and enjoyable tour in Tokyo!

What a wonderful morning witnessing and learning about the Tuna Auction and learning about the history of the Tokyo fish markets. Michio was an amazing guide and very well informed. He took us to the auction and explained what was happening, taught us some fascinating history, and found us a wonderful “breakfast” at the intermediate market. Once we were satiated he guided us to the Tsukiji market via a wonderful driverless train ride. Everything you could ever imagine could be found at the markets. This was a great tour and we learned things we would never have found out on our own. Thank you Michio!

Full service tour of Morioka
Full service tour with Toshiya Ozawa, who speaks very good english and had communicated with us in advance. He met us uppon arrival at the station, escorted us to our hotel, gave us reading material about Morioka as well as a welcome gift and an hours rest before our tour started. Visited sake brewery with tasting, shinto temple and castle mountain and did a walkabout before being escorted back to our hotel. Due to spring holliday many places were closed, but Toshiya made the best out of it.

Toshisan was an amazing guide. He showed me all around Morioka. The castle ruins, the old red brick Iwate Bank building, a sake tasting, Takematsu Park, and Takematsu Jinja Shrine.

Be prepared to walk a lot and you’ll have an amazing experience discovering Morioka.

Hiroshima Tour with Yoshi
Yoshi was truly one of the highlights of our entire trip. From the very beginning, she went above and beyond—meeting us at the station and making everything feel effortless and perfectly organized.

She is incredibly knowledgeable, especially about Hiroshima’s history. What made the experience even more special is that her perspective comes from someone who was born and raised there. Hearing the stories, details, and context directly from her added a level of depth and authenticity that you simply cannot get otherwise.

Beyond her knowledge, Yoshi is just a beautiful human being—kind, warm, and genuinely caring. Spending the day with her felt like a hug to the heart. She made us feel comfortable, cared for, and fully present in such a meaningful place.

She guided us through every site with perfect timing and intention, making sure we experienced everything without ever feeling rushed.

If you are visiting Hiroshima, I cannot recommend Yoshi enough. Seeing the city through her eyes is something truly unforgettable.
