    What Does a Private Tokyo Day Tour Cover? A Licensed Guide's Report on Hamarikyu, Tsukiji, Nezu Shrine, and Akihabara The party was listed as four people, but one of them was in a role like a tour conductor, so the guests I actually guided on the tour were two of the guests. The originally requested spots were four places: the Imperial Palace, Tsukiji, Nezu Shrine, and Asakusa. However, I heard that they had already visited the Imperial Palace and Asakusa on the previous day's tour, so instead I added Hamarikyu Gardens and Akihabara to the itinerary. Hamarikyu is closer to Tsukiji than the Imperial Palace and was within walking distance, which was a great help for time management. Although I had the impression that it had fewer seasonal flowers compared to other gardens, the guests liked it even more than I expected. Everyone enjoyed taking photos, and we spent more time than anticipated at every spot. In the morning, the plan had been to meet up with the other guest in Akihabara, but that became inconvenient, so in the end I saw off the group to Toyocho Station, the nearest station to the Hotel, where the tour concluded.

    What Is a Private Tokyo Tour Like? Tsukiji, Asakusa, and Meiji Shrine — A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Europe, traveling from other destinations in Asia to Japan and continuing on to North America afterward. At Tsukiji, they did not shop, but wishing to try something new, one of the guests enjoyed a wagyu skewer priced at 4,000 yen. At Asakusa, after praying, they purchased various amulets for about 5,000 yen and were delighted to have found wonderful souvenirs. For lunch, they wanted to eat sushi, so I took them to Sushizanmai. The Sushizanmai in Asakusa serves generous portions, but compared to Tsukiji it felt somewhat pricey. At Meiji Shrine, the lotus flowers in the inner garden were blooming beautifully. Many irises were also in bloom, and it was fortunate that this is the best time of year to see them. Afterward, the guests planned to visit the Nezu Museum on their own, so we parted ways along the way. Since I am scheduled to guide them again the following day, I recommended a plan to first visit Yokohama and then stop by Shibuya on the way back. They were a lovely group, and I am looking forward to tomorrow's tour as well.

    Title: What Is a Private Hiroshima Peace Memorial Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. Since the main reason for their visit to Hiroshima was to see sites related to the atomic bombing, after touring the memorial monuments and the Peace Memorial Museum, I also took them to the National Peace Memorial Hall. As they viewed the museum exhibits and watched testimony footage of the Akatsuki Corps who entered Hiroshima to carry out rescue efforts immediately after the bombing, their expressions grew somber, and it seemed the reality of what happened truly reached them. When I mentioned that the film Oppenheimer does not depict what happened beneath the mushroom cloud, they agreed, noting that it only told the story leading up to the bombing, and said that since the reality of the atomic bombing is almost entirely unknown in North America, many more people should visit Hiroshima. It was clear that the guests had come to Hiroshima wanting the younger members of the group to learn many things, encouraging them to listen carefully to the guide's explanations. When we passed by a school uniform shop, there was a lighthearted, relatable conversation about how students often don't wear their uniforms properly, which was also true of Japanese students — a memorable and universal exchange.

    What Is a Private Walking Tour of Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from North America, having recently graduated from university. It was a hot day, but the group kept walking cheerfully all the way from Kiyomizu-michi without any complaints. They did not stop for unnecessary shopping, and the tour progressed very smoothly. After lunch at Nishiki Market, we had some extra time, so I guided them to the Pokémon Center at Shijo-Karasuma, and from there we walked to the Nintendo Shop at Takashimaya, where the guests began shopping. One of the guests seemed to enjoy Japanese manga and spent quite a while browsing books in the manga corner at Takashimaya. As we had reached the scheduled end time, the tour concluded at Takashimaya. The photo was taken at Kennin-ji Temple.

    Title: What's a Private Kumamoto Castle and Suizenji Garden Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests had expressed a strong wish to visit Kumamoto Castle and Suizenji Garden, and when I suggested a Higo Zogan (inlay) workshop experience as an additional option, they showed great interest, so I added it to the itinerary and they seemed very satisfied. The guests had watched the historical drama "Atsuhime" many times, were interested in Japanese castles, and could speak some Japanese, so I offered explanations from slightly different angles, such as the connection to the campaigns on the Korean peninsula, Kumamoto's groundwater, Kato Kiyomasa's flood-control works, the history of the origins of the Japanese Red Cross, and the historical significance of the Satsuma Rebellion. After the Higo Zogan workshop, I had planned a walk through the old castle town, but on the day the temperature exceeded 33 degrees, and since we had already walked a considerable distance and everyone was worn out, we traveled by streetcar. When they asked me to recommend places for dinner, I created a list and sent it in advance, which they were very pleased with. I also sent along materials summarizing key points for sightseeing in Kumamoto, though they did not seem to look at these very much. Separately from this tour, the guests consulted me about transportation to Kurokawa Onsen, so I presented several options and their fares, and arranged a jumbo taxi charter on their behalf. However, due to the weather forecast, the schedule was changed and one leg had to be canceled on short notice. As a result, a cancellation fee (30%) had to be paid. Although they understood, I felt it would have been better to clearly explain the cancellation fee in advance.

    What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour with a Licensed Guide Like? A Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from North America and were staying at a hotel right in the heart of Gion. They had done a food tour in Gion the previous evening, so they said it was fine not to include Gion in today's tour. Even so, first thing in the morning I began by explaining the history of Gion, what geisha and maiko are, the history of geisha, and the history of Yasaka Shrine, and then we moved on to each spot. At every spot, each time I gave an explanation, the conversation would drift off into all sorts of private topics one after another, and although I struggled to steer it back, I gradually started to find it enjoyable myself and thoroughly enjoyed and learned from the tangents. As we had entered June, the shrines were in the season of "Nagoshi no Harae," a custom that is not very familiar to visitors from abroad, so it was memorable how attentively they listened to my explanation with great interest. I hope they enjoyed themselves.

    What Is a Private 6-Hour Walking Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, the Imperial Palace, and Harajuku At 8:00, I met the guests at the Hotel and we headed to Asakusa. Since it was a large group, I was concerned that buying individual tickets at each station would cause delays, so with the guests' consent, we purchased Toei/Metro one-day passes (more expensive but very convenient) at Sengakuji Station. After arriving in Asakusa, we first went up to the observation deck on the 8th floor of the Asakusa Culture Tourist Information Center to take in the whole view, including Tokyo Skytree, the Flamme d'Or, Kaminarimon, Nakamise Street, and Senso-ji Temple, before strolling down Nakamise Street. The guests each went in and out of shops looking for souvenirs, and time passed quickly. Japanese cultural experiences such as drawing omikuji fortunes and using the incense burner also took time for everyone in the group. Running 30 minutes behind schedule, we went from Kasumigaseki to the Imperial Palace Outer Garden. After a brisk visit to the classic Nijubashi Bridge and the statue of Kusunoki Masashige, we took a soft-serve ice cream break at a nearby tea house. The stop at Kiddy Land on Omotesando also took longer than expected, so we skipped the planned Takeshita Street and went to lunch. When asked "Is there a food court?", I was momentarily stumped, but I quickly thought of Harakado and decided to head there. My instinct paid off, as there were many kinds of food courts, and luckily, since the guests wanted Mexican food, that was available there too. The guests enjoyed it along with Corona beer. After lunch, one of the guests wanted to return to the Hotel early, so I hailed a passing taxi and saw them off. I took the rest of the group to Meiji Shrine. As the tour was nearing its end and we were about to part ways at Harajuku Station, the JR Yamanote Line had stopped due to an accident. When I asked if they would like to take a taxi back to the Hotel, they said they would "kill time by shopping." So I introduced Takeshita Street to them, and we said goodbye at Harajuku Station. Over the 6 hours, we walked a great deal and encountered many unexpected events and surprises, but it all worked out, and it was a walking tour that the guests were satisfied with.

    Title: What Is a Private Nara Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan, touring together. The meeting point was originally given by email as Kintetsu Nara Station, but a message came in via a messaging app suddenly changing it to JR Nara Station. Since I had been waiting at Kintetsu Nara Station, I hurried directly to JR Nara Station and managed to meet the guests successfully at 10:45. From there I explained the itinerary and we began the tour of Nara. As part of the group was traveling with a stroller, we had to move at a slow pace. There was a request to see the mochi-pounding at Nakatanidou, but the timing did not work out, so we passed by for the time being and headed to Nara Park. At Nara Park, the guests spent plenty of time interacting with the many deer, which I believe made for a wonderful memory. From Nara Park we proceeded smoothly to the Nandaimon Gate of Todaiji Temple and then to the Great Buddha Hall. At the Great Buddha Hall, some of the guests waited at the exit rather than entering the grounds, so I guided the remaining members. One of the guests showed great interest in the Great Buddha Hall and asked questions. However, since few of the guests understood English, the group leader, one of the guests, translated my explanations. After the Great Buddha Hall, the guests had lunch at a nearby restaurant, and then, despite the heat, we moved to Kasuga Taisha Shrine, where I explained Shinto and shrines and guided them through the main hall while talking about the Shinto-based aspects of daily life that form a core part of Japanese culture. After Kasuga Taisha Shrine, we moved by bus to the shopping street, hoping to let the guests watch the mochi-pounding at Nakatanidou, but it had already finished, so the guests purchased some mochi to enjoy on the train home. From there we walked to JR Nara Station and parted ways at the station. I hope the guests enjoyed today's tour of Nara. Points for improvement: When meeting at Nara Station, the guests were not aware that JR Nara Station and Kintetsu Nara Station are located apart from each other, which made setting the meeting point difficult. This issue was not unique to today's guests; on the bus, other foreign travelers were also having conversations suggesting they faced similar difficulties. I therefore strongly felt the need to remain careful about setting meeting points in the future.

    What Is a Private Day Tour of Hiroshima and Miyajima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting from Asia and were bright, curious, active, and charming. For one of them it was their first visit to Japan, while the other had visited Japan before but was experiencing the Kansai region for the first time. On Miyajima and in the lively downtown areas of Hiroshima, whenever I happened to introduce something new to them, their eyes would light up as they looked at it or made a purchase, and they truly enjoyed the experience. At the same time, it was memorable how thoughtfully they took the time to view the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum.

    Title: What Is a Private Family-Friendly Kyoto Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. They did a lot of walking during the tour. Some of the guests enjoyed Japanese food, having rice and miso soup every morning even back home. One of the guests was especially looking forward to the final stop of the tour, Iwatayama Monkey Park. When I asked the group what they would like to have for lunch, they said "tonkatsu." I guided them to a tonkatsu restaurant in the Bivi complex at Nijo Station, and they were very satisfied. Overall, it seemed that everyone in the group enjoyed themselves in their own way.

I have already guided a lot of tourists overseas in Kansai Area, that is, in the vicinity of my prefecture, Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Kobe, and Himeji. I am especially good at guiding in Kansai Area with sufficient knowledge of history, culture and transportation. I have guided people ranging from a small group of one or two to a group of 20-50 people in a big bus, that is, a coach. I like delicious food, because Osaka is a city of Kuidaorre, which means that people in Osaka love to eat and never spend too much money on food.
