    Title: What's a Private Toyosu and Tsukiji Fish Market Walking Tour in Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report We met at the hotel lobby at 8:00 and headed to Toyosu. Using the map in front of the station, I explained the overall layout of Toyosu Market. When I asked whether the guests were ready to walk a long distance back and forth inside the market, I received an energetic and enthusiastic "Yeah!" in reply. While touring Toyosu Market, I explained how the tuna auctions work and the reasons for the relocation from Tsukiji. Next, we went to Senkyakubanrai. I explained that it is a mini version of Tsukiji as we headed up to the foot bath floor on the 8th floor. The guests enjoyed the views, including the Rainbow Bridge. After that, we moved on to Tsukiji. Strolling through the outer market, the guests enjoyed sushi, wagyu skewers, crab legs, and more, and also enjoyed souvenir shopping for items such as beckoning cat figurines and magnets, as well as the lively atmosphere. The guests wished to return to the hotel by taxi, so we hailed a passing cab and parted ways there. The weather was fine, and it was a walking tour that the guests seemed to enjoy very much.

    Title: What's a Private Osaka Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Osaka Castle, Umeda Sky Building, and Dotonbori The guests were visitors from North America. They had also traveled to Hiroshima and Nara, and since they had an interest in architecture, we first went to Osaka Castle. As we started early in the morning, we were able to look around slowly without much waiting. They liked it very much and took many photos. Next, since they said a taxi would be fine in order to make good use of our time, we took a taxi to the Umeda Sky Building. They seemed very interested and took many photos there as well. Finally, I took them to Hozenji Temple in Dotonbori, and the tour came to an end. I believe they enjoyed themselves.

    Title: What's a One-Day Private Tour of Tokyo Like After Visiting Kyoto and Hakone? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan for the first time from North America. The trip was arranged around the end of the school term. On this journey, they first stayed in Asia for a week before flying into Kansai Airport. After visiting Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, and Hakone (they mentioned they had a hard time in Hakone due to heavy rain), they came to Tokyo. Their stay in Tokyo was just this one day, and they planned to return home from Haneda the next day. They said, "We are enjoying all kinds of Japanese food, and we want to keep enjoying a variety of dishes right up to the end." It was a tour on a hot and humid day. Asakusa was as crowded as ever. There were questions such as "What is the history of this temple?", "Is it always this crowded?", and "Do all Japanese people believe in Buddhism?" There were also questions like "What kind of teaching is Buddhism?" Seeing many people in traditional kimono, they also asked, "Do Japanese people wear kimono in daily life?" They said, "We received goshuin (temple seals) at various temples and shrines in Kyoto and Nara," so here too they had their goshuin book stamped. Since they had not been able to see Mount Fuji in Hakone, we then went to Tokyo Skytree. Unfortunately, despite the clear weather, it was hazy and Mount Fuji could not be seen. They were also surprised by the huge crowds. We went up to the observation deck and took a group commemorative photo. They said, "Now we really understand how vast Tokyo is." After that, we went to Tokyo Midtown Hibiya for lunch, as one of the guests had a gluten allergy and a gluten-free restaurant was needed. At the "HIBIYA FOOD HALL," they commented, "It's just like a food hall in North America." Afterwards, at the guests' request, they did some shopping on Takeshita Street. Then we moved to Shibuya. At the scramble crossing, there were comments such as "Why are there so many people here?" and "It looks like Times Square." We took photos in front of the Hachiko statue. There were also questions and comments such as "Not only Tokyo but all parts of Japan are orderly and clean," "Everyone is polite," "It's quiet inside the subway, and no one is being noisy," and "There are no trash cans anywhere in the city." Finally, I saw the guests off at Otemachi Station, and we parted ways.

    In the past, I was stationed in Canada, the United States, and Mexico as an expatriate of a Japanese bank for over 11 years.
    Since I have been mainly involved in the financing business in the United States for a long time, I think I am able to provide interpretation and translation services related to business and finance.
    I am a certified CPA in the United States.
    In addition, for three years from April 2016, I will be engaged in Japanese-English translation work (part-time), and I can also handle translation work.
    Although I don’t have a qualification in Spanish, but I think I can handle day to day conversation in Spanish without any problems.
    My hobby is trekking and from time to time, take a walk around mountains near Tokyo like Mt. Takao, Tanzawa, etc. I think it is possible to provide tourist information here as well.
    Since April 2015, I have been working as a Tokyo Metropolitan Tourism Volunteer and Tokyo Metropolitan Disaster Prevention Volunteer.
    One more, I have a separate house near Asuka Village, Nara prefecture, and I stay there for a total of about 30 days every year and have been enjoying sightseeing personally in the vicinity. Therefore, I think in the Kansai region, especially in Nara, Asuka, Yoshino, Koyasan, Kumano Kodo, etc., where I think I will be able to tour guide with confidence.

    What Is a Private Tokyo Tour of Toyosu Market and Tsukiji Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan from North America, all visiting Japan for the first time. They had arrived at Narita the previous day and traveled to their hotel via the Narita Express and other transport. On this trip they were staying in Japan for a short time, spending some days in Tokyo before continuing to Kyoto and Osaka, after which they planned to head to Asia from Kansai Airport. The night before, they had enjoyed Japanese food at a local izakaya nearby. They planned to go on a full-day tour of the city the next day. The trip was arranged as a holiday, and they mentioned, "There is no proper fish market where we live, and we really wanted to show the family a fish market and an auction." The tour took place in heavy rain. At the guests' request, we traveled from the hotel to Toyosu by taxi. At the Toyosu seafood wholesale building, they asked questions such as: "Where is the tuna caught, and how is it delivered here?" "How much tuna is put up for auction?" "What is the price per fish?" "What kind of tuna is expensive?" and "Who manages the auction?" They also asked, "Which part of the tuna is the tastiest, or the most expensive?" At the intermediate wholesale building, they asked, "Who comes here to buy?" and "Why aren't we allowed inside?" At the Tsukiji Outer Market, despite the rain, they eagerly walked around looking here and there and browsing various shops. They entered one shop and bought and sampled nigiri sushi with tuna, grilled beef skewers, and grilled king crab. Their comments included, "It's fresh and delicious," and "We intend to eat sushi non-stop while we're in Japan." They also asked, "Why are there so many people here? Is it always like this?" They remarked, "The whole town is clean, with no litter on the ground," and "Even walking around town at night, we don't feel it's dangerous or scary." Since they said, "We're tired and would like to go back to the hotel to rest," I saw them off at Roppongi Station and we parted ways.

    Title: What Is a Private Kawagoe Walking Tour from Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan for the first time from North America. This was their first trip to Japan, and they mentioned that they had a tradition of taking family members abroad before starting university. They planned to stay in Japan for only about ten days and had arrived two days earlier. They enjoyed outdoor activities, so they deliberately avoided sightseeing in central Tokyo and had visited the Nagatoro Gorge the previous day. They said a friend had strongly recommended that they visit Kawagoe if they came to Japan. This evening they would head to Osaka, then visit Nara and Hiroshima, and return to Tokyo before flying home. It was a hot and humid day for the tour. We discussed the meeting point at length, and since they wanted to use their JR Pass as much as possible, we decided to meet at their accommodation near Tokyo Station and travel by JR. We toured everything on foot. After arriving at JR Kawagoe Station, we first went to Kitain Temple. They commented that it was not as crowded as Asakusa and Sensoji Temple. They asked questions such as "What kind of religion is Buddhism?" and "Do all Japanese people believe in Buddhism?" As souvenirs, they purchased two models of Nio guardian statues. After this, we walked to the Honmaru Goten of Kawagoe Castle, but it was closed that day and we could not go inside. The museum across from it was also closed, so we received a goshuin (temple/shrine seal stamp) at a nearby shrine. We then moved to the Kurazukuri Warehouse District and had a light lunch. Afterward, we entered the Kawagoe Festival Museum. We walked through the building and watched a video about the Kawagoe Festival, and the guests listened attentively to the staff member's explanation. We then went to Kashiya Yokocho (Candy Alley), where they bought sweet potato confections as souvenirs. They mentioned that in the southeastern United States, sweet potatoes are increasingly being grown in place of tobacco, and that instead of French fries, sweet potato fries are also being sold. After that, we slowly strolled through the Kurazukuri Warehouse District toward Kawagoe Station. Along the way, they also bought a coffee cup set as a souvenir. They commented that it was wonderful to feel the atmosphere of an old-fashioned Japanese town, different from Tokyo, though they were surprised there were more tourists than expected. They also remarked that the town was orderly and clean, that everyone was polite, and that the trains were quiet with no one making a fuss. I saw them off at Tokyo Station, and we parted ways.

    Title: What Is a Private Tokyo Day Tour with a Licensed Guide Like? Shibata, Hamarikyu Garden, and Meiji Shrine — A Guide's Report After a full day of rain the day before, we were blessed with fine weather, though it was as hot as summer, so I conducted the tour while taking care to avoid heatstroke. For the destination, the guests had initially wished to visit Nezu, but when I asked again about their preferences before we began, they said they wanted to see old Japanese towns and shopping streets. So I quickly changed the destination to Shibamata and guided them there. The guests were very fond of the old approach road and Daikyoji Temple (Shibamata Taishakuten). Also, since I changed the originally planned Rikugien to Hamarikyu Garden, the final stop at Meiji Shrine ended up being only a briefing at the entrance, but we managed to cover the spots I had planned. After the tour, the guests told me it had been an amazing tour, so I believe they were satisfied.

    What Is a Private Miyajima and Hiroshima Peace Park Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report That day there was heavy rain across the country, and the guests were worried about whether they would be able to reach Hiroshima safely. However, Hiroshima was so clear and sunny that it was hard to imagine any rain at all, and the guests were very happy about it. To make sure the tour would be enjoyable, I included activities in Miyajima such as playing by the sea and a hands-on momiji manju (maple-leaf cake) making experience. Seeing one of the guests happily eating the momiji manju they had made themselves while on the ferry made me feel very happy as well. At the request of one of the guests, who wanted to spend more time at the Peace Memorial Park, we skipped Hiroshima Castle and headed to the Atomic Bomb Dome by streetcar. The exchange between the guests — one becoming tired and losing concentration, and another wanting them to learn about peace — was very heartwarming, and I did my best to give explanations that would be easy to understand. This is something another guide taught me: by folding origami cranes together in advance, writing a message about peace on them, and offering them at the Children's Peace Monument, the guests were able to truly feel a sense of peace. Being able to guide such a wonderful group around Hiroshima made this tour a very happy experience for me once again. They said that Hiroshima has so many enjoyable things that they would definitely come back again soon, and I was truly glad to have been able to share the charms of Hiroshima with them. This time the weather was clear, but I felt that I should also prepare a plan for rainy days in advance. I will keep this in mind from next time. Thank you very much.

    Title: What Is a Private Rainy-Day Tour of Kamakura Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Europe. Some of the guests were fluent in English, while others were less comfortable with it, so communication required more effort than usual. Because the forecast predicted heavier rain toward the afternoon, we prioritized visiting two of the most popular spots, Hasedera Temple and Kotokuin (the Great Buddha of Kamakura). Despite the poor weather, the hydrangea walking path at Hasedera Temple was crowded, which made me realize that caution would be needed when visiting on a fine day. After lunch in Hase, I had also planned to guide the group to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine and Komachi Street, but the guests expressed a wish to end the tour there and return to their hotel in Tokyo. So we took the Enoshima Electric Railway back to Kamakura Station and parted ways two hours early.

    Title: What's a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Meiji Shrine, Shibuya, and Asakusa I guided a group visiting from North America. They had only two days in Tokyo and no particular requests, so I took them to the Metropolitan Government Building near their hotel, along with Meiji Shrine, Shibuya, and Asakusa. Since they were joining a cruise tour starting the following day, I consulted with the guests and, rather than purchasing an IC card, we decided to buy individual tickets each time, and I helped them with the purchases. We finished the route earlier than expected, which gave the guests time to enjoy some shopping, so in the end we were able to complete the itinerary as planned. For lunch I made a reservation at a restaurant inside Mark City, and the guests were very pleased and said it was delicious. On the way back, it was about a 15-minute walk from Shinjuku Station to their hotel, so I was a little concerned, but the guests said they could walk back on their own from there and would be fine. We took commemorative photos together near the station before saying goodbye.
